Hunting truffles is harder than fishing I think. And youd need a truffle hunting dog too. Cost adds up if you hunt in the wrong areas. And what if you dig in the wrong place or get a baf dog

Here in iraq we have eaten white truffles for decades, it can be harvested in the desert after rain storms so it is pretty hard to get sometimes, the price is around 10$ per kg but can go much higher depending on availability, i can describe the taste as mushrooms and meat infused together, eating it fresh is a whole new world for sure, just wanted to share the experience with you all.
10$ per kilo is dirt cheap. white truffles from my area (alba, in italy) go for 2-3k$ per kilo
@@xrayDJalpha It's probably not the same type of white truffle (doesn't mean it's bad tho, i've not tested either of those species). I will say that in a general way, there is a massive gap in "quality" between truffle species, and the lesser qualities can be fairly affordable. Small anecdote: once upon a time, excellent species of truffle were readily available in france and italy and pretty much treated the same way as any other mushroom.

I remember working for these Construction Developers and they come to me and say "You're in charge while we're gone to Italy!". I said that would be great and to enjoy their vacation, they said "Oh no we aren't going for vacation we're going to sample Truffles for our Restaurant in Prague". Incredible. Flying from Toronto Canada to Tuscany Italy to sample Truffles for their high class Restaurant in Prague Czech Republic. Rich people really out here travelling to sample Truffles.

Additional facts about truffles - It contains naturally occuring testosterone so that's quite cool, it contains a butt load of fiber (about 70g of fiber per 100g wich makes it probably the richest fiber food that we know of), it's also pretty high in potassium scoring at 754mg per 100g, also prettty high in magnesium (83mg) and calcium (159mg). And to top it off, it has 9g of complete protein.

I've never eaten a Truffle before and I would like to try some. I introduced myself to some truffle oil and oh my goodness, Now I'm hooked. The taste is Amazing and it literally enhances everything I cook now. I hate the price on them but wow, I could just drink that stuff lol. Of course, I may be in the bathroom for quite awhile lol.

The first time I tried truffle flavor was in a somewhat fancy restaurant that served Parmesan black truffle fries, and they blew my mind with how delicious they were. That’s the only time I tried truffle
I once had a piece of truffle when I was at a fancy party. I could hardly find any taste - veeeery subtle, I would say. Too bad I didn't really try to smell the piece. But I also have quite expensive truffle oil at home and so I think I know what it's supposed to be smelling and tasting when its ultra fresh.
I’m pretty sure truffle oil is just not truffle, but they try to recreate the taste of truffle, which makes the oil taste more intense and less authentic.

I own five restaurants and used to work in nadaman. It’s Japan’s most famous first class restaurant chain. I’ve tasted it all from truffles to matsutake mushrooms to matsuzaka wagyu beef. Some of these ingredients are incredible but a LOT of them are just pretentious and people react to them because of the price. When we do a tasting for the staff, the chef will always mention the price first and where and how difficult it was obtained. I find it funny when people overreact to food that taste okay but acts like it came from heaven. 😂
I've always wanted to know if Waygu was as good as everyone says. It looks delicious to me. My husband said to me the other day it probably tastes just ok but people go crazy over it because of the price. Same with these. I've never tasted them and have always wanted to. What is your opinion on them? Do they both taste awesome like people make it seem or really good but "not for that fuckin price" good? Lol
@@cassandraDify depends. If you like fire grilled steaks then i absolutely prefer an american porterhouse or ribeye. Wagyu taste too uh clean for a better word.
BUT if you like dishes like wagyu tataki or gyu sashimi(beef sashimi) or wagyu being used with combinations like seasonal vegetables or marinated in signature sauces.
Personally, i prefer shabu shabu or wagyu sushi.
Wagyu steak is overrated unless done by a master who knows how to dry age it to perfection.
Don’t fall for those roppongi 200 dollarteppan steaks cooked in front of you. They’re just a show. Not worth the price.
It's valued for how much more work you have to do to obtain them. Makes it special.

They're both! The original chocolate truffle is a chocolate ganache rolled in Cocoa powder. They were named after the mushroom truffle which has a similar appearance.

Actually many has tried and failed, but I believe I read somewhere truffle favour to grow under certain types of tree, so they planted that tree and yes they got truffle, but the volume produced so little and not economic for commercial scale.

I had to idea what a truffle was until like 2 years ago I just thought that they were all black. It turns out that they are extremely expensive. But we’re I live they grow in the mountains we’re trees are it’s very common to have them and people always eat the whole thing or make it into Mole a Mexican hot sort of thick soup. We just always ate them on they regular it’s cool to know that each Mole we made was worth like 2 grand.

I've had them before, mainly in cheeses, and I can say that, in all genuine honesty, this is worth the price tag, between flavor, genuine difficulty of acquiring, it is an expensive delicacy I can see myself eating, unlike certain products like lobster (no matter how delicious it is insanely easy to catch crab and lobster, the price tags on fish products and crustaceans, especially in coastal regions like where I live, the incredible price tags are due entirely to marketing and clever monopolization through deals with various companies, much like how lightbulbs that never burn out have been made but lightbulb companies don't sell them because they have no profit potential, yet I don't see that at all with these, no remorse fine dining.)
You can get lobster, fries and two cocktails for 30euro here in Ireland.

I've only ever had truffle infused things, but those are _amazing._ I hope truffle farming will become easier in the future. I'd love to see truffles become a regular fridge/cabinet item.
