    Really nice detached fly body. In the summer I go back to the tiers I like and watch their older video's taped before I found them. Keeps me in the tying zone to produce some patterns I have never thought of or seen in a book. Thanks for sharing. It was clear and concise. All the best, Sean

    So you fished it on the river Aire near Gargrave. Lovely river - I fished the Aire and the becks which feed it up by Airton, Eshton and Flasby back in the 60s. Happy days. I fly fish in Western Alberta now. Nice tying - thank you.

    That’s a cracking idea of using the pheasant tail with the detached body. Haven’t seen that before so will definitely try that myself. Lovely overall pattern Mak and tied flawlessly as usual pal.

    "Mak-Flies" is what Chinese people order in Macdonalds! (sorry couldnt resist the joke). Amazing pattern fly. Ive been fishing since 5 years old (now 45) and just discovering the world of fly fishing having spent a lifetime course fishing. Though I have fly fished for dace. Thanks for your inspiration.

      gorgeous! when I started tying flies I thought patterns detached bodie with foam, plastic wings or thin foam were the best. But the casting is not so ... the plastic should be used by experienced anglers as much twist leader and Tipet. The foam can not handle the casting long and tends to tear .. but believe me .. the pattern shown in this video is sure to be tested by me! I loved it!

    Hi mak awesome fly.never seen a extended body mayfly tied
    On a buzzer hook before.going to tie some up later using veniards mayfly wings.i noticed you left the fluff on the partridge is there a reason for this.you mentioned the length of foam could you tell me the width.cheers.

    • @Makflies
      @Makflies  10 років тому

      I am glad you like it. With the Fluff Fly looks more realistic especially in water. But you can make without it, works perfectly well. For the width I use 2 mm from the top end & bottom end slightly smaller, like tapered shape. Thanks

    Stunning fly. May I ask what thickness your foam is please?

    • @Makflies
      @Makflies  9 років тому

      Hi Joel
      thank you for the comments. The Thickness is around 2mm no more.
      Regards

    Hi Mak- a complex pattern but looks very realistic. I guess this would be considered an attractor pattern? Would you fish for specific hatch or use like an adams?
    Also I was wondering if you could substitute hackle tips for the wings instead of the plastic?

    • @Makflies
      @Makflies  5 років тому

      thank you Brian, I normally fish this in May when there is lots of Hatch, you can use any Wing, it's entirely up to you :))
