Wow, how gorgeous these fabrics are and they looked very soft, didn’t it? Beautiful, beautiful! I more or less grew up in an old so called «Shoddy Factory». a place where they wove warm wool plaid blankets and other wool fabrics and also they recycled old wool clothes and made mattresses, top mattresses and thick, warm comforters filled with the wool. They also made luxurious comforters and top mattresses filled with the most fluffy lambs wool. I ran around in that mill from when I could walk (and run away from our house next door). I also loved to go take naps with their dogs which of course had very nice beds, I loved those dogs! And I explored every nook and cranny in that factory. I was the only child allowed there though, because I was well trained in security and how to behave there. None of my friends were allowed in the production areas because it was such a dangerous place, esp. after they at some point they got lots of electrical weaves and those and the machines that recycled wool was potentially really dangerous… Sorry, long digression…

In Maharashtra many styles of weaving are already extinct. Such as Chandrakala saree, Joath saree, Bali saree , Shelari saree, Kosla saree and maybe many more that have already been forgotten.

Wonderful - natural fibres, slow process of creation and sustainably and ethically made clothes are the best !!!

Hey Manisha, I am glad some one decided to cover an important cultiral paet of Goa other than the usual beachy / touristy content. I last rememner seeing a lady wearing a proper Kunbi Saree when I was a teenager, of course a few ladies might have continued to wear it in remote corners of rural Goa, but, I have not come across it ever since.
I am not a subscriber, but, will continue following your content, if it is unique as in this case.

Great to see you posting again. Thanks for making this video. Indian hand weaving and printing is a dieing craft so it's important to preserve it so it can be revived if needed

Yes, it is so sad that such traditions are dying most places, because the fabrics would get too expensive to compete with factory made fabric… 🥺

In New Zealand it is wool and flax.....and now hemp fashion as well. Hand knitted jumpers are very expensive here but they are beautiful and last forever if taken care of.
