I got my music business education from a former Warner exec, and he said the same thing. It made me feel some type of way because I spent the last 10 years building organically, but thank you for being real about it. It's true everyone. It's just business. Pay to play.

So there is absolutely nothing wrong in using Playlisting firms that use bots to gain followers/ grow fanbase, and turn a profit? I’ve always been told bots are bad and organically is better. I play in a rock band so not sure if it’s better to use bots ( so long as it’s not an outrageous price)
@@bassplayer807 It works depending on how you do it. I don't recommend using bots as your plays, likes, and engagement. I recommend using social media's bots to bring you the RIGHT traffic, meaning social media will show your posts to people you target, and you want those people to be people that will actually like your stuff and support you. The labels pay people to run up their numbers on top of fake streams and numbers but for an independent artist, that will hurt you more than help you like you said.

If you want to make a quick dollar sure use bots if your are a real artists there are diffrnt ways to go about that and it comes down to content and having good music . You don’t need to be buying or pushing 1 million streams you can be a small artists and make 6 figures . Besides he ain’t making $80k a month it’s a scam he sells a course for $500 nobody who makes that kind of money is selling you the course unless you are out here scamming epooe that’s what this is

With the rapid advancement of AI, music stores are building ever more refined and powerful algorithms to identify artificial streams.
The only way to counter this trend in the future is to have equally sophisticated software, and bypass the many event trackers and spyware that come with these store apps that detect human or artificial behavior.
If you aren't an insider, it can be nearly impossible to find a developer with this specific niche and skillset. Even if they have the skills, they may not have the moral disposition to create such a tool. I know because I been in this game for years. That's why years ago I set about to learn programming myself.
A program of this nature is pretty much the highest intellectual pursuit in the programming world (next to something like a 3D graphics engine). Spotify started in America in August of 2011. Chad started getting into bots in 2011 . He would have to do all of his non music bot work in 8 months.

I loved this interview and its candor. Numbers in the music industry have been gamed like forever! Even prior to the internet, major record labels gamed the system. Thus, botted numbers are just a digital representation of what had been occurring prior to the internet. Where some get confused is thinking that botted numbers ARE the game. No. They are just a component of a complex arsenal of your marketing and promotion bag. Any system or business whose rules of engagement are designed by and for the Powerful will be automatically rigged against weaker players, attempting to play by those established rules. This is why guerilla fighters don't fight by conventional rules when faced with an overpowering adversary. Ultimately, for most small indie artists with little or no budget, success will come down to having a record that has so much hit energy, that it just connects. When and if that happens, then the hindsight bias will kick in and all the pundits will opine about what a great strategy you had, and all the artists will rush to copy it and quickly learn that it won't work for them! lol

I remember this happening with Sammy Adams aka wizzy in like 2010 maybe? Whenever his debut album "Bostons Boy" came out they found out that a large portion of the sales were under a single order through a credit card. So somebody at his label had purchased a large portion of his sales in order to make it seem like there was a lot of hype around his debut album. I remember that was controversial at the time because he was faking his own album sales after someone exposed it, he had some success afterwards but it fizzled out fairly quickly. It's always been known that these record labels have these tactics in order to grow their artists but some of them are just so uninteresting that it's a waste of money
