I just turned 77 and pain on my knees especially the left one are starting to be unbearable. Thanks for this well-put educating video. I've learned a lot. I will have my first appointment with an orthopedic next month. At least now I will be more prepared when he describes what needs to happen or not. Thank you

Would a partial knee replacement be considered if two of the compartments were arthritic (for me, it’s the medial and patella), but the other compartment (lateral) is in perfect condition according to my surgeon? I have seen a few photos of dual partials, and even one where the medial and patella parts were a single piece instead of two. I believe my knee wore out because of a meniscus tear when I was young. I’m 58 now.

Great post! I’m a very active 59 year old. I’ve had two previous medial arthroscopies. I still cycle like I’m 20. I still skate like I’m 20. But when it comes to running, I’m a 90 year old with terrible knees. I’m terrified of getting a TKR. I don’t want to being able to participate in some semblance of what it was like to play sports. Would I benefit from a partial over a total replacement? Are their surgeons in Toronto that do PKR?

I would hope to learn if there are surgeons in the GTA particularly in Mississauga ON.

I know you said that rheumatoid arthritis generally get a total knee. I have psoriatic arthritis and would like to know if a total knee replacement is possible .

I had a partial in 2022 and it was not right from the beginning and has to be redone because it is misaligned, possibly loose and possibly too big. With much research I have learned that 50% of partials fail because it is a much harder surgery to perform. This doctor is exaggerating the recovery time. Most recoveries are a minimum of 12 weeks to 1 year.
