It's funny how people don't really show Asafa the respect that he deserves sometimes you see a lot of negative comments not realizing that if it wasn't for this man jamaican sprinting would've basically die out this man carry the country on his back and show the world that our little island can produce one of the fastest man in the world if it wasn't for his motivation in the 100 meters i don't know where Jamaica Sprinting would be today long before bolt and Blake doing the 100 meters this man made us proud this man make every issa boys and girls champs athletes want to set records thank's Asafa Powell for letting the world know wi little but we Tallawah
But also he is a tank of 190cm who runs like a gazelle. His style is the most beautiful and closest to perfection
Stop been zealous of them .love them all a demon from way back when love and respect .thay earned it . Ease off them neck .
Asafa Powel has the most beautiful running technique i have ever seen.
My favourite athlete of all times. Love Asafa bad. Thanks for being an ambassador for Jamaica.
I'm not going to sit here and ignore the fact that had Powell not eased up when he ran that 9.74s, that could have easily been around 9.67, 9.66. I'm never going to ignore that, but what a phenomenal sprinter he was. Apart from his undeniable speed, his form was glorious to watch.
His form is textbook sprinting. He bounces down the track.

I really like how much work was put into this video. I've never really seen his career described like this before.
He indeed did it "bruck world record"
ASAFA WILL ALWAYS BE JAMAICA SUPERSTAR VERY RESPECTFUL AND KIND HUMAN BEING ❤
Not a bad film but it left out two important points. First and foremost, the deaths of two of his brothers a year apart just before each Jamaican National Senior Championship impacted Asafa tremendously, and second his numerous injuries before Olympic and/or World Championship events. His groin injury in 2005 after setting the world record for the first time was so bad that he didn't compete in the 2005 World Championships at all.
Thank you.
Thank you for the added information. Blessings
this really shows that you don't need amazing times at young ages.
Istead it's trust, confidence and small but continous improvement.
That's definitely something we need to take from his story
Facts
It's all about your potential. Some people peak earlier than others.
I believe Christian Coleman’s high school PB was well over 11 seconds
man , I am thinking the same now. I was clocking sub 11's easy as a kid. was still on circuit when Asafa broke the world record and I had a job then coz there i had to live and i stopped training that year after 2 national champs n i was getting to the mental break through .. but my 8 yr old girl keeps askin me when I am gonna start training her, we going for FloJos record now .. LOL
The quite legend. Asafa went under 10 seconds 91 times. Nobody else is close to that.
Yes bolt Yohan and Tyson had more speed than asafa but asafa had speed and consistency . He is the greatest sprinter ever
Love you Asafa!!
The best sprinter never to win a global individual title.
That's exactly why all these times he records didn't really matter much because he never won anything of note
@@ikennanzube1039 that what you need 🙏🙏🙏
He won a bronze medal in the 1OOM in 2009 at the World Championships.
Neither Tyson Gay nor Asafa Powell ever won an Olympic medal in an individual event. That's insane to me and shows how tough the sport is.
Asafa was born November 23, 1982
I loved this video. I actually didn't know much about his high school career and his top speed of 12.04 m/s. That 9.74 is my favorite Asafa Powell 100m along with his 9.72
Yeah and that kinda proves he could have gone 9.68
@@TrackandFieldNation Yeah. I always felt that more guys should have gone Sub 9.7. Powell, Gay and Blake are the only 3 who I believe had the ability to run 9.7 more than once. Bolt is the only one who's done 9.7 more than once
Him born November though and yes will always remember these moments he is a legend
Got nothing but respect for your. Forever a great athlete
Asafa is the 4th fastest man ever followed by Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Tyson gay. Maybe these three had little more speed than asafa. But no one had speed with consistency like him. He had record of 91 times running under 10 seconds and I think no one can even match his level. Greatest of all time
They may not be faster except Bolt, Asafa could never put together a good race in the championship
@@mssha1980 This guy is saying Powell is the greatest sprinter.
Powell is absolutely not the greatest sprinter. Are you out of your mind? Yea I know he is the sub-10 king, but in championships and olympics, he flopped hard. Bolt actually proved himself and is the most naturally gifted athlete and pressure kind of FUELS him.
Man this made me smile
Thank you sir Powell you stand in the gap for us JAMAICAN thank you and may the LORD continues to bless you and your family's one JAMAICAN LOVE 🇯🇲🇯🇲👊👊 STRENGTH ❤ SHALOM
Well...you should also talk about asafa's form
His form is by far the best in sprinting history🔥❤️
Great man, wonderful sprinter, big game choker.
Asafa Powell was a great sprinter...period!
Asafa Asfa he could have been much much greater but hey much love and respect goes out to him
The best things happen to track and field in our country was when the boys n girls champs merge together and also when we find a way to keep our athletes at home and train them here
regardless of his empty championship cabinet save for the commonwealth asafa is the true second fastest athlete after bolt its just that luck never favored him
Love this video got to see his other side following his vlogging
Jamaicans forget too quickly, if you are not winning continuously then I guess that’s it.
Marie if you were near me I would shake your hands, we Jamaican and our tongue, which cannot be tamed, our tongue is a wicked weapon, sharper than a two edged sword.
Inconceivable that I was once faster than Asafa Powell.
i like this kind of videos a lot.
Barely under 11 in high school, wow 😳😳😳😳...23 sec 200. wow.
good video. lots of details ad history
thanks
Gem of a channel
That's ma boy😘
Boss Francis. You are so divine.
ahh your back! i waited for this
Yes I'm back finally! Hope you enjoyed it
@@TrackandFieldNation loved the video!
Thank you very much! Anybody in mind you'd want me to look at next ?
@@TrackandFieldNation tyson gay !
He is the King of chokers for sure
Maybe he should have visited a sports psychologist
Asafa Powell jist didn't have the ability to relax when it counts...he gets too tense, and his plan going into the finals just goes out the window once he's in the blocks...Asafa Powell mentally was his own enemy..
So true
For real. A man that has a PB of 9.72 and 91 times under 10 seconds..Should have got at least two 100M golds in his time. It's one of them cant believe it stories.
@@fender1000100 yes...runs most of those time on diamond league where he has no equal most of times..but wen he does have an equal...he fights his self in the head..I believe Asafa is unbeatable...his technique and start is PERFECT..
So true. He got tensed whenever there is a likely Challenger
This is Mufasa Powell 🦁
You made a few mistakes with 2003 and 2004. He ran his first sub 10 in 2004 and in the heats against Kim Collins was 10.04 not 10.09
November the man born 😂😂😂😂
2006 Gatlin was World Champion
Deserved more but could never achieve it.
I think his birthday is in November
You didn’t show any 04 footage of Powell. But showed 2010 footage instead???
Is birthday is November 23
this title should be dubbed: The making of the Choke-King...more suitable....
Is better you never made a comment you should just keep these negative comments to yourself if you were never a professional sportsman or sportswoman
I know the 12 year old age group world record for 100m is 11.22 but how fast do you think a 12 year old can go. Sub 11 or is sub 10 humanly possible for a 12 year old.
What does that last statement mean about the anchor leg... someone kindly explain to me what that whole statement means. Thanks.
He ran the last leg of the relay (fourth runner)
If Asafa Powell had a good trainer and mental strength and relaxation like Usain Bolt, he could have ran under 9:60 just like Usain Bolt. To me he is one of the best sprinters ever in the world and the only one who ran many 100 meter races under 9:95 seconds. He is lighter than Usain Bolt and well built, and had quicker starts, quicker paces and acceleration than Usian Bolt. Usain Bolt had longer and quick paces too.
First, just like Asafa never was in an Olympic Game
Lmao
He is literally an Olympic gold medallist...
@Track Nation Still an Olympian and still and Olympic champion🥇🤷♀️
@Track Nation yet you still can't deny that he's still an Olympic gold medalist lol
Usain was like Jesus but Asafa wrote the Bible
🤣🤣🤣
Hmmmmmmm
His *** birthday is November not march
What about Maurice Greene?
What about him?
The very first statement in this video is incorrect. He is a public figure, basic personal info is not hard to find.. Asafa was not born on March 23rd.
How is he the sub 10 king
He ran sub 10, 97 times. More than any other sprinter in history.
@@TheoOJamaloO1 oh OK, just wasn't sure y, thanks
@@TheoOJamaloO1 please tell him again
@@gorillachamp5271 He ran sub 10, 97 times. More than any other sprinter in history.
If he was disqualified he would've won that year. I always tell people that but the try to down play it.
Could he have been juicing though?
You're niave. They are all juiced to the gills.
@@Nyasalands_Finest But how can you be so sure?
@@vinayseth1114 Like I said, you're niave. Not to be rude..
Heard that Asafa used drugs 👎
*Asafa* weak emotional state ruined his career, so he settled for the most *Sub-Tens* instead.....🤔
Still made us proud asafa Powell is main reason jamaican printing as evolve because most teenagers emulate him also bolt admire him show some respect what kinda sport did you participate in to help put your country on the map
thats still legendary compared to what most athletes achieved over a life time
This is funny. Imagine being the fastest man in the world for almost 4 yrs, a former world record holder and have so many opportunities to claim a title unlike other athletes yet blew it every time because of his weak mental state, then grabs at straws by making up a name like Sub 10 king. There is no such thing, stop this foolishness.
He didn't create it. We the fans did. We dont judge him for not winning, we celebrate him for not giving up. For most humans, we will not likely be Steve jobs, Elon musk or any of them. We however, we will push on regardless of the outcome.
You could make the same point while being less of a meanie you know
Without Asafa, there would be no Bolt. Shut yuh trap.
So mean its people like you who dampen people's spirit
Instead of criticizing celebrate him for his achievements
Bad mind active....Bloodclatt🤡🖕🏼
Why glorify someone who uses drugs?
