It's funny how people don't really show Asafa the respect that he deserves sometimes you see a lot of negative comments not realizing that if it wasn't for this man jamaican sprinting would've basically die out this man carry the country on his back and show the world that our little island can produce one of the fastest man in the world if it wasn't for his motivation in the 100 meters i don't know where Jamaica Sprinting would be today long before bolt and Blake doing the 100 meters this man made us proud this man make every issa boys and girls champs athletes want to set records thank's Asafa Powell for letting the world know wi little but we Tallawah

I'm not going to sit here and ignore the fact that had Powell not eased up when he ran that 9.74s, that could have easily been around 9.67, 9.66. I'm never going to ignore that, but what a phenomenal sprinter he was. Apart from his undeniable speed, his form was glorious to watch.

Not a bad film but it left out two important points. First and foremost, the deaths of two of his brothers a year apart just before each Jamaican National Senior Championship impacted Asafa tremendously, and second his numerous injuries before Olympic and/or World Championship events. His groin injury in 2005 after setting the world record for the first time was so bad that he didn't compete in the 2005 World Championships at all.

To me he is one of the best sprinters ever in the world and the only one who ran many 100 meter races under 9:95 seconds.
