People used to bash the advanced movement games for people "boosting and zipping around your screen", but I found those movements to be way more predictable and easier to track and toned down compared to the modern cod Era where everyone thinks they are a war zone streamer hopped up on every stimulant known to man

I'd like that. Even if it's temporary, it would be nice to try out and experience in cod. I often try to be a bit more tactical/methodical in 6v6 modes, where I stick close to walls and cover, aiming towards doors and corners as I approach them, throwing tactical grenades into open areas, listening to gunfights before going in, paying attention to the minimap (checking if I'm outnumbered), sometimes hearing/seeing someone and then waiting for them to approach. Cod can do this, the mechanics are there. A playlist without sprinting or jumping/diving could be fun to try out. Could potentially treat it like a "Ready or Not" type of playlist.

For me, the "complexity" in COD has just been a progressive issue with the game feeling inconsistent. There are multiple different sprint-out speeds, multiple attachments that say they do the same thing but don't actually do the same thing, there's a damage multiplier for every part of the body and they aren't the same for every gun. All of this combined just makes the game feel inconsistent from gunfight to gunfight in my opinion.

The best way to resolve this is just by making the tac sprint speed the base sprint speed for everyone and have that as the only way you can sprint. People always like to d-ride the older Cods saying it was alot faster back them but what it really was the scale of the maps. Take Invasion for example, the river side street back then was not THAT long compared to how it is in MWIII, you could get from one end to the other so much faster back then cause the map was smaller, for some reason they scaled the og maps alot bigger in MWIII, giving the illusion that the older Cods, aside from slide canceling, had faster movement

Yea, I’d argue it’s not really a needed mechanic, we were perfectly fine all the games before it. Not a lot of other games have it and they work perfectly.
It’s really resulted in destroying analog sticks a lot faster and sore/numb thumbs from constant aggressive clicking.
Also (easy fix… slow down) a lot of deaths stem from tac. sprinting everywhere, so I say ditch it

@@nenish Simply scaling maps down or designing them around slower movement speed only goes so far and doesn't truly address the issue of slower pacing in CODs like MW19. The movement speed itself absolutely matters, and the carryover maps from MW2 in MW3 are great examples of this. It pretty much boils down to: the slower the movement speed, the riskier a proposition moving from behind cover becomes, which ultimately slows the pace of the game and leads to more camping.
Maps such as Farm 18, Mercado and Shoothouse flow and feel better for me in MW3, and those were originally designed for faster-paced gameplay in MW2. Nothing's changed in the map design or scale; MW3 just has faster movement, meaning it's not only easier to flank, but also easier to directly challenge and push up on enemy positions. A COD game should ideally have movement speed that's not so slow it bogs down gameplay like in Ghosts and MW19, but also not so fast that it becomes an arena shooter. Personally I feel MW3 strikes a nice balance, and Treyarch's entries have as well in the past.

It's an excellent question and during the Tac Sprint Bug, people could relate to what it feels like for a Battlefield vet to play CoD. I'm so accustomed to reloading while tac sprinting in BF, that when I come to CoD, it gets me killed so often. Granted, it's not the Dev's fault or CoD's fault, it's mine for not adjusting my gameplay, but at least some people were able to experience what it's like for me to try and reload. Ironically, it's not that big of an issue in Zombies. Speed Cola and Stamina have spoiled me terribly. Also, commando gloves have been a godsend.

The big balance issue I see with this (and it's likely easy to address) is without sprint out it would significantly change support weapons (especially WZ). I lost two close range gun fights yesterday with my Sniper / MCW w/ jak kit due to sprint out (400ms vs 120ms striker 9 in both cases). Once I get in a building with a MCW I must change my game style, no choice due to sprint out. If you eliminate that and it's just an ADS difference then I get the benefit of being able to snipe long range and engage medium range with a AR (which is why I run that combo in WZ) AND I can stay "pretty aggressive" in close quarters. Likely would be no advantage at all to run any SMG / shotty / pistol for close range or as a support in WZ.

Base sprint honestly feels as fast as tac sprint but there is no actual tac sprint in the game. There’s pseudo slide cancel (you can ads and fire or hipfire effectively while sliding, but your character continues to slide when you ads), slide jumping, jump shotting with no penalties, shooting while slide jumping, peeking by sliding one direction then jumping back the way you came, and one of the more effective dropshots in recent COD history. It probably feels closest to BO4 due to the slide jump and overall way more potent jump.

The issue i really think makes it seem like tac sprint is "necessary" is due to gun play and mainly map designs. Back then maps were not as HUGE as they are now. I mean seriously some of these maps are very large and wide. Making it seem like you arent making any distance.
Maps back then, and i remember them clearly were mostly balanced. MW2 AND mW3 for the most part had maps that can accommodate any type of gun play. Heck there were even sniper positons that you could take advantage of but leaves you open to being shot from behind.
The gun play was still very much fast or to put in better words. "Active". Campers have always existed so its not really an good argument to this situation. It felt no different back then.
If we removed tac sprint, it would feel weird. I mean back then running was like tac-sprint. When tac sprint was introduced, alongside regular running, it didnt feel that different. We were used to pressing the anolog or button to "sprint."
Now, me personally, i dont mind either way. The time we take to reach point A to B is roughly identical. It would just feel weird to some , as i mentioned in my example. We are used to pressing a simple button to "sprint." A nostalgic feeling. It wouldn't really impact the game for the majority.
PS. Main point- it's mostly a placebo effect

I'm very surprised with the comments. I honestly LOVE tac sprint and is one reason why I moved back to COD after many years (yes, honestly).
1- I know realism IS NOT the point of cod, but fun, fast-paced gameplay. For me, tac sprint brings both of those. A niche mechanic to exploit along slide cancel and bunny hopping to out manouver your opponent.
Without it, all we had was 'I saw you out in the open, you're now dead' (specially for Warzone). Now, it's the ONLY mechanic that can help us make our enemies miss shots ONLY if you know how to use it in combination with slide-cancel.
2- Furthermore, it's balanced out by giving the sprint-out time penalty, so you better know when you should be using it or you'll get coocked in close quarters. Otherwise, with how bad server pings are, the one moving will ALWAYS have a huge peakers advantage on the slower enemy without having to 'master' movement.
3- Finally, smaller point but tying it to the realism aspect, I just like how the character gets tired and slows down after a full sprint while making the running animation smoother because, for me, the normal sprint animation with the gun bouncing side to side is just clunky and makes the running times (which in big maps can be a long time) quite boring and repetitive.
Sorry for the long explaination that only you and someone else have read, here's a potato 🥔

I think it would help with the laggier matches too. Connection has been a problem. And, the tac-slide is really the thing that causes the crazy stuttery, teleporting visuals. That's my biggest problem with tac sprint. Love the concept, but #NotSafeBehindTheWall #CallOfDuty is still a thing haha. I think having tac sprint in warzone is a must with the long sight lines, having a mix up is necessary in my mind. But, I haven't played it since MW2019. And, don't plan on it anytime soon tbh. So, more theory than praxis on my end there. Also, I got 2 peeps who won't play just cause the analog deterioration. And, I'm on board to take it out just for that. I thought they gave us a better option. By allowing a single tap while sprinting, to go into tac. But, it seems the option that states something like that (or how I interpreted it) just doesn't do anything. Or, I'm retarded **shrugs** might be both. I don’t like that sprint is just a temporary substitute for when tac sprint is on cooldown, I wish they were two different mechanics with its pros and cons. For example keep sprint the same, and buff the hell out of tac sprint speed to like +50% speed, BUT, the tac-sprint to fire would be wayyyy longer (so much longer that if you’re caught mid tac sprint you’re dead) also, it would disable ninja, so you would sacrifice when readiness and silence for massive speed. I think this way you can use tac sprint for some interesting plays, specially in hard points, snd, etc. and make regular sprinting also viable as a way to keep quiet and but still on the move and more ready to engage in a gunfight.

If it's on then the regular sprint is shortened. As you mentioned, it should also be considered that the boots/vests that can enhance tactical sprint

The game sense for where players would be coming from spawn would be helped by consistent timings if the spawns for this game weren't so broken. To benefit from knowing where a player might be coming off spawn requires you to know where they are spawning. Apart from the very first spawn in the game spawn locations are anyone's guess.

What I would like for players who want to try and run circle around a player, is the ability to catch them in a slide and perform a finishing move when they get close enough. Also, no more One hit Melee. Make them all perform an animation like the sword does.

But for sure there is a skill gap between people who play and flank easily with this movement and others who just play casually.

BO2 didn't have unlimited sprint or sliding, and that game to me at least felt very fast and fluid with movement. I do feel the attachments and perks like Dexterity, quickdraw grip, and stock also helped in this area because people could get on target instantly and dodge around bullets or corners at a very fast speed.

Personally I just like the animation of tac sprint. When using all terrain boots it feels extremely clunky when running in general, or trying to slide cancel or bunny hop. I understand it's prolly just placebo, cuz u move about the same speed, but when u do a slide cancel or bunny hop u really benefit from the extra quickness of tac sprint, which imo far outweighs the little extra bit of sprint out times. My experience at least.

Cold War was absolutely perfect when it came to mechanics. It was the best we've got. Old engine (aka good, snappy, consistent engine). Great movement options including slide canceling. Fast animations. Fast climbing and mantling that worked PERFECTLY, better than any other game with those mechanics. Prone with the attachment that eliminated the animation worked perfectly and I prefer it that way over having the bothersome animation that it has today. Reloading was FAST. Everything worked.

I feel like Tactical Sprint really is just a "we need a replacement for sprinting speed to spread maps out more" - one could argue that advanced movement was just that too but I'd argue that added more verticality and interaction with the maps than just "do i want to sprint or do i want to super sprint".
I was going to say it could maybe work as a sort of limited duration field upgrade where you get a window of x seconds to do so but you deplete it at a faster rate if you tac sprint/dash/rush whatever we want to call it, but that would probably just become something people take all the time and not fix the issue.

But this is where the "beauty" of this system lies, as it gives you the option of gaining speed (which you can use to escape a gunfight or to get faster to a certain point that is nearby), but theoretically without being able to abuse this mechanic to kill enemies (since you are penalized in sprint out time), however, the slide cancel breaks this system and in my opinion it would be better to have the original movement than this aberration with slide cancel

I think it comes down to two outcomes: either back to simplicity and the game is boring after one year, or it's complicated and its exciting to play many years after its release. I tend to lean toward longevity because there's no need for a new game every single year that's the exact same. I say keep tac sprint, 2 years after this game's release people might master tac sprint and the game will have new life for example. By the way, giving options to limit complexity, like the All-Terrain Boots, is incredible game design IMO.

I always felt like tac sprint just wrapped things back around to classic cod where people would sprint in bursts. Tac sprint seems like it adds depth to the game, but then you learn how to optimize its refresh time and that just becomes your default movement option. Seriously, when you have you ever seen a pro use regular sprint over tac sprint? The regular sprint being THAT slow feels more arbitrary the more I think about it.

As an adult who no longer desires to completely dedicate my life to a game to become good, I think getting rid of tac sprint would be great. I'm sure I'm not the only person who enjoys simplicity that removes some skill gaps. I'm all for the inherent skill gap of fps games, but insane movement in fps games always turn me off fast. I could say the same about Fortnite with it's building mechanics. So difficult as a newbie to feel even remotely competent at the game. I just give up in that game.
