If I turn on a video and it starts with ‘hey wassup guys it’s ya boy and I’m coming to you live from l...’ I turn it off. These videos are great. Educational and inspiring in equal parts!
Ive been a battle style house music dj since the early 90's, still use control vinyl and have a controller to play with for fun. Your tutorials are extremely valuable not just to newly starting DJs but even to old skool cats like myself. I already know what the tricks are and how to do most of them but I still love watching because the way you break everything down into step by step methodology is excellent not just for the hands on how to but you actually toss in the theory and reason why you do or dont do something... that type of stuff took me years of trial and error, where here you help so many newer DJs figure it out right off the bat. I applaud you bro, and love being subscribed to your channel. You are spot on with everything & an inspiration to DJs everywhere from noob to vet!
Thanks JJ! That's precisely why I put these videos out. I went through a lot of trial and error as well, so why not stretch out a helping hand to those who are just starting off? Trial and error will still happen, but at least there's a method to this Madness! 😆
Good tips. To me the biggest challenge is having a track without vocals and find the acapella that would blend in nicely. We have tens of thousands of songs in our head it's sometimes hard to focus which one would fit the harmonic key, bpm range and mood of the track. At least tools such as Tunebats are quiet helpful in fast tracking the process.
I have my first live set in a week for a big party at work. I've been practicing everything your videos have taught me and I'm really excited to throw this into my set!
I love watching your videos man. I used to club dj straight sets for a boring club, but that's what they wanted and paid for. I recently got back into djing after stumbling across your channel. Now i'm back, but just doing it for my own enjoyment. i don't ever want djing to be a job again. You have so many cool things to share, and i'm super grateful that you're able to teach "an old dog some new tricks" All these techniques sounded amazing and gave me some new stuff to work on. Thanks again
Thank you so much. Honestly i have watched so many videos regarding a beatmatching issue I had, and your suggestion on setting the beat grid acapella against the original song has helped me big time. Thank you once again.
Dude, your killing it on that ddj 400. I learned a lot by watching your video's and want to say thanks. Please keep those video's rolling. You are making a huge impact on those that want to start to dj.
Very good DJ Carlo I’m mixing the Rihanna song with a track has i’m going through the video on my DDJ 400 controller watching this video. DJ Walker female DJ love from the UK🤘🏾👍🏾🔥. The 3 part this video was my favourite and the end with you scratching your deck with with the Echo👏🏾….. I did what you did in this video
DJ CARLO You're seriously the best. I love your channel. I've been a dj for 20 years and i've learned so much from you. Thank you for the great info and great content.
Nice video! Could you make a tutorial how to do a 1/4 trans scratch with an acapella (while on a loop)? I watched a DJ doing that and it sounded really great.
Thanks for the video! One of the most usefull channels! Can give some piece of advice about how to make a set. What should be kept in mind when the play list is created for a set?
Where you get acapellas from? I don`t know any good place where to get them. Awesome video as always! Love when you use the ddj 400 so I can immediately see how to implement it to my controller :) keep it up!
@@hiimbored7260 I'm not Carlo, but there are plenty sites. You can just Google UA-cam to mp3 320 kbps. If you want to get more advanced you can use Android and the termux app in conbination with Tasker to make your own converter (hmu if interested)
If the acapella is not the right time. You can speed or slow them down by ear to match the original...THEN match the beatgrid at the altered speed. You will have to use the tempo fader to match it back to the original upon loading but at least you have an accurate beatgrid to work with.
Hey Carlos very nice tutorial... On my opinion the three techniques are dope bro I love it i wanna put in practice... Thanks for sharing your skills 🙏... Saludos amigo from California USA... ( that's why I didn't think twice to press the bell bottom on the first time I saw a video of you bro.. Because you are awesome ..🙏 )
I think all the DJs should perfect that skill to bring out their style and creativity. Unfortunately, a lot of DJs sound the same and never step out of their comfort box. Good stuff 👊
I've always use acapella in a mix and in mashup but because of you, my knowledge about acapella and it's proper use were enlighten me. However, I can't do the fast transition because I'm using an app to mix and when I'm picking the next song, it is loading slow. But it's okay, because that lessons and skill I learned will be my guide to use equipments someday. Thanks Carlo! I suggest to try a DJ app that for those who can't afford equipments.
That's a bit complicated, Because settings have to be applied as well, and song should have been heard by the dj well to drop it in a mix at best time. That's something new and needs working hard. Thanks alot for the challenge as well as the knowledge sir😄😄

I’m kind of torn between tips two and three. I’d like tip #1 more, but I never seem to get acapellas I really want to do mash ups with from my pool. Plus, the acapellas I have are rarely edited, which makes using them on the fly almost impossible for most of my gigs.
Hi, great video. Can you do a review and comparison of the DDJ 400 v Traktor Kontrol S2 Mk3 v Numark Mixtrack Platinum. I think for people buying their first controller, these are the three that appeal for the Under £250 price tag. Thanks
Lysander -- all three of those controllers use different DJ software. DDJ comes with Rekordbox. S2 comes with Traktor Pro 3. Mixtrack comes with Serato DJ Lite. The controllers all do similar functions. It isn't the controller you need to focus on. You need to focus on which software platform you want to commit to. This is a Big Decision... Each of the three software platforms do very similar things but there are important differences that can have an effect on the development of your DJing style. Research the software platforms and then choose a controller... Ask a man who was committed to the wrong platform for the music he plays out and recently had to switch over... (me).
If you don't mind me asking, what's the scratch combo you use during the scratching portion of the video? I've been trying to recreate it on my own but I can't get it to sound as clean as yours. Love your content, keep it up!

You can make like an edit... were you put the second song after the first... so the two songs are in the same track and they are loaded
You can use virtualdj. Its free if you dont use equpiment with it
