I'm not sure if you've heard about the UA-cam policy changes that happened recently (they went pretty under the radar for many people), but many words that were previously fine are getting videos flagged for demonetization. According to RT Game, who got hit very hard by these changes, using the UA-cam editor to remove parts of a video with swearing doesn't allow youtubers to make a video eligible for monetization despite there technically being no parts of the video that the public will see that would get it demonetized.
And honestly this is why I don't blame Coney for taking a better safe than sorry approach to this, especially because for the time being there is much still unknown in terms of what will get you demonetized and what won't.
