Thanks for this, I have the 42" LG C2 so was perfect to follow along. I knew I needed to use WOL, but not seen it done anywhere so this closed a gap for me! One thing I did notice in testing is that the WOL Switch Entity that is setup, doesn't follow the TV state when it is turned on or off by some other method including HA's media turn off action. For example, as you say, you can turn off the TV using the media player state, but the switch entity remains in the On state, meaning I have to toggle it Off before I can toggle it On to actually wake the TV up. For this, I created an automation that simply triggers when the TV state changes and updates the WOL switch to the same state.
Love your video… I have a SamsungTV with 115 free TV Plus contents. How would you include channel up & channel down buttons to browse / change channels?
I think you can change the wait to wait for a state change on the media_player/TV, it should also be more reliable if for whatever reason the TV boots slowly. But it may depend on how the TV integration works, on my side I'm doing this on a Sony Bravia which is annoyingly varied on reaction time
I am building an automation, so that when I push a physical switch, my Sony Bravia turns on, and changes to HDMI 1 For some reason , everything works, except the TV does not change in pots to HDMI 1 Any ideas?
Thanks for this vid. I've got a Sammy TV and what I'm looking to do which I'm still stuck with is, instead of automating [turn on TV, set source, then set lights etc etc], I want to be able to create a sensor where it can show which source that it is on currently. So then when I switch, for example from netflix to disney+, it will then do certain things in the automation. I'm a bit dumbfounded that we can send command to the TV and set the source, but there's no sensor to show the state of the source. Hope I'm making sense here. if you got any pointers for my issue, please do share. thanks
Hi, enjoying your videos. I have a question about the size and aspect ratio of the picture cards. I have the jpg files I need but they were rectangular rather than square, I cropped to make them square but they still dont render as a nicely as yours. How did you get them to display so well?

Nice work Barry!

Great video... Thanks for sharing...
Hey Alexander! Thanks for watching!

Some devices have a remote entity :)

Wait...my "Media Player" only shows HDMI and TV under Source. How did you add all those up?
Can you use an automation to play a specific video clip depending on the automation’s logic outcome?
Yes you could create some logic
Nice one, would be interested to know how to send notifications to Samsung tv’s (I’ve been trying for a while, with no joy 😞)
Going to be giving it a go!!
@@SmartHomeMakers ... Yay! 🙂
I dont see the switch in the dev tools :(
Any idea how to open specified web page on TV Bro using HA?
Not that I think of, what is your use case ?
Just want to confirm.... Wake On Lan only works when TV has Ethernet cable plugged in, Yes?
Correct👍
From my experience yes! I tried without before :)
@@SmartHomeMakersWhich alternatives do we have for wifi-only devices like tv boxes?
