- I sure didn't expect to film this large family vlog! Not only did we experience storm damage from the possible tornado, but our family was split up during the event! Thankfully, we have friends, family, and a community that's willing to work together and help each other out!

The dog sheltering the newborn kid during the storm is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard! So glad everyone is safe.

When times get tough and a little overwhelming, I have started telling myself, "Just do the next good thing," and it helps immensely.

Be thankful thats all the damage y'all got; our son, and his family, took a direct hit from a tornado in Valley View, TX...total devastation!
They are safe, but bruised, battered and very sore.
As they were running to the storm shelter, the wind picked up my pregnant DIL and threw her into a fence.
They had no warning and all this happened in 2 minutes, or less.
Due to downed trees and power lines, my husband and I ran 2 miles to get to him, and his family. Wrapping your arms around your babies, after that kind of destruction, has no words.
Its a night I'll never forget!
God showed mercy to my family, but so many families lost loved ones.

So sorry to see all the damage. Thankful y’all have set up a system in case of an emergency like this. Things always happens when your husband is out of town.
So happy that you guys are safe. Thankful the damage wasn't more. Love little Wesley. He is a lucky baby with Sarah as his new mom. Praying for that little guy to thrive and to bring joy to you all even though it means more work.

Amazing things happening at the Homestead. My goidness you and your hardworking children are so resilient. You are wonderful parents and have loved and taught them so well I am so impressed. The storm was terrible and did alot if damage but "Thank you to God" your family is safe. You must be beyond proud that you and your precious children were able to handle all that happened with such fortitude and grace. Your baby girl is so precious and sweet.The older children were so resourceful and talented, hardworking helping you and their beloved homestead. I'm SO sorry for all that mess and thankful that tree didn't do too much damage to your home. What timing though when Shawn and some of the children were gone. Oh my... What a mess. Goodness, all this makes me appreciate so much more how fortunate we are in the UK that we just do not have these kinds of extremes to deal with - at least, not on a regular basis. Extremes do happen but so rarely as to be spoken of for generations! Glad to see you are all fine and coping well.
So sorry about the damage from the tornado. I live in middle Arkansas, and we have been so lucky to not have had damage. Hang in there Janice and may God bless each of you and glad you and family are safe.

We have a neighborhood tag team when storms are approaching. I woke up to thunder in the distance at 3:30am. Went out on the porch to check out the sky. I was shocked as to how hot it was that early in the morning. Came back in and turned the tv on- They were scrolling tornado warnings in Mtn Home. At 4 am I started calling neighbors. By 4:30am 12 of us were in another neighbor's basement here in Mammoth. I thought of you when I saw the storms heading your way. We actually had 3 rotation clouds but no touchdown. No damage. Power of prayer! So thankful everybody was safe at your place :)
So sorry for your loss . But you are safe and God keep you all safe.this was back to back storm it hit in Ky. And southern Indiana there was tornado warnings some in Ky.thank God no damage for us.. have a safe days. Prayers for all in these storms.

That must have been quite a storm that went through there. I'm glad you are all ok. It seems there is lots of adventures there this year! That little baby goat is adorable and it cracks me up every time he lets out a yell. It's like he's yelling "MOMMM" each time lol.

Phone lines were probably knocked down. Had that happen on the farm also.
We had a bad winter storm once with tons of ice and snow and no power for 5 days
In NE MO we had the same happen with our landline. We couldn't call out, but people could call us. It's due to the fiber optics all being put underground. I wasn't a happy camper to find that out! So sorry about the damage, but glad y'all are safe.❤

I sure hope they perk back up, Janet! I'm still waiting for the garden to dry out before I mess with them too much. We're still cleaning up trees today, but I hope to get in the garden by the end of this week. :)

Sure would like to know how Wesley got in the doghouse with your LGD. I wonder if he somehow managed to find it and walk in on his own, was nudged in by the dog or was carried in. It would have been amazing to have had that on cam! At any rate, a very good example of what LGD's do best. What a dog!

Yes, Teresa, our area is blessed that workers from other areas have come to help. Also, I checked our electric co-op's Facebook page and is was actually 19 substations that were without power. It was definitely extensive!

I just had a tree service come out to my house today I have 2 Buckeye trees in my back yard that my husband and I planted maybe 15 years ago? They are to close to the house and actually touching my roof ( easy access to raccoons or other rodents, also can cause access to Carpenter Ants and Termites) we had a storm night before last and the branches were pounding my metal awnings over my windows and there are 2 power lines coming in to my house that power my freezers and central AC so sadly it is time for them to go you are fortunate to have helpers there, it will cost me $875 to have them removed. Oh no! I'm so glad everyone is safe and the animals are ok. Thinking of that momma goat giving birth to not one but three babies in the middle of a storm is heartbreaking. Did you work out how one of the triplets ended up in the dog kennel? It shows us how protective and important these livestock dogs really are. It was good to hear the momma goat accepted her baby back after spending time with the dog. I thought maybe the scent of the kennel then being indoors being fed would make her reject the little one. Hope the new baby duck is doing good and that the baby turkeys have hatched okay too. Glad everyone is safe and only minimal damage was done to the house which can be repaired by yourselves. May the Lord keep you all safe and protect you through any more storms. Thinking of you all and sending lots of love 🙏❤️❤️❤️

You must have lost a good few dollars that horrible time I remember a long time ago before cordless phones.we got by not by lightning and thunderstorms are phones went dead for a week. Even though the electric came back on the next morning the phones as I say didn't come back for a week. What a weird world we.love in.
Dogs are awesome,the farm,livestock dogs amaze me,they are some of the best animals,l love them.

You guys got very lucky with that Bradford pear. They aren’t great trees, to be honest. They grow too big for their own branches to handle and split apart
Luckily your house etc. was not destroyed, you have got some solar-power, generators, a water-pump and nobody is hurt...
...in Germany there has been awful weather lately as well and several towns just drowned, a lot of families lost their houses and goods...

Hi Janice. About a week ago we were driving from Portland to our home in Ks (near OK border), we were 4 hrs from home, the sky turned black @ 2pm & there were Tornado warnings in every nearby County, we didn't know if we should sit it out or try to watch the sky & drive accordingly, we were kind of doing both but at one point everyone pulled onto the shoulder so we followed as we were pelted with heavy rain & good sized hail, when we were able to move again we noticed many cars that hadn't pulled over were missing windows. We tried to rent a room but by then the entire town had lost power, most motels had lost windows on one side & they weren't renting to anyone. We finally got someone to rent us a room at 10:30pm. Massive trees were down so even though storm was over we weren't going to drive in the dark. It was quite an experience.

Is your landline phone corded? Meaning is there a cord from the receiver to the phone base? A corded phone will still word during a power outage but a cordless landline phone will not
Scary we don’t get tornadoes 🌪 in California 🌴👍 when our electricity ⚡️ would go out we went to grandmas house she had a gas stove so she could make lunch or dinner ❤️ my parents eventually switched to gas and both houses had well water 💦
