You have to drain just a little out first and then quickly unthread it all the way. Once you unthread the outter shell enough it releases the trigger inside and stops draining. After you replace the filter and stick it back up and thread it in, it will trigger the fuel to start flowing again. At least that’s how it worked on my F350.
I honestly didn’t measure or pay attention but maybe 1/4-1/2 gallon? I could have used a clean container to drain and reuse the diesel fuel but I just like to be careful not to contaminate the fuel system.
It varies on different vehicles but try Turing the key to “on” but don’t start, fully depress the gas pedal 3 times within 10 seconds and then turn the key off. Start vehicle and light should go away.
I think you just press the button once so that it lights up “run” on the button. Then hit the button again to shut it off. Do that a couple times and then start it.
@@DavidSED I had the same issue. I went through about 5 gallons of fuel before I finally said the heck with it and I started cracking the bolts on the housing and that broke the vacuum and syphoning effect I guess. It wouldn't stop. On other channels with other Ford techs, they said about 5 min draining. But that didn't work for me. Just kept going.
You push the button without foot on break, just to turn things on and the fuel pump will start to prime. What the Ford Tech, Powerstroke Tech Talk said was start with the main filter under the truck and then prime by pressing start button 6 times letting it stay on for 10 seconds each time, then move to the under hood filter and do the same thing and then after that you can press brake and start the engine. If you try to do that without priming, it won't start and you can cause a fault in the system that prevents you from starting it all if you try to start without the fuel there.
Very well done. Thank you. I’ve always done my own work. At 70yo I still enjoy knowing it’s done right. I needed to learn the new rail fuel filter procedures for my 2023. This video was great. Subscribed. On my old 2012 in 2015 code for EGR plugin. Driving from Florida to Indiana. I put in clear diesel from power service treats 100 gallon of fuel in 37 gallon tank. Cleared code. ? What do you think about using clear diesel products?
You have a great presentation style. I'm new to a diesel and this was great. Subscribed!
Thanks I’m tired of paying almost 300$ for something I can do myself
Very detail job bro. Nicee
I also am a new diesel owner and this is a great video thank you
Great video. Good presentation. Thanks!
Good video and seams simple to do. Thank for sharing from Yinzer glenn
New diesel owner. This was a great video. Thanks!
got a price quote today 324.28, you saved me alot of money thanks
How often are you changing the filters?
Hello, a question, my truck does not stop draining the disel, it already fills a 4 gallon bucket.

How do I reset fuel filter life on dash?
Great video, question for you. Roughly how much fuel drained when you opened the drain plug?
I honestly didn’t measure or pay attention but maybe 1/4-1/2 gallon? I could have used a clean container to drain and reuse the diesel fuel but I just like to be careful not to contaminate the fuel system.
Great video do you know if the billet SPD fuel drain plug will work on a 2023 it says from 18 to 22 works for but they look identically the same
I think the 22/23 should be the same but I never tried it. I know there are many small differences so the best thing to do is try.
Awesome job
How do I reset the filter light

Great video thanks!
how do you prime the push button start?

It is coming diesel non stop from yellow valve, why would that be?

Really appreciate you taking the time and dispelling my fear of doing it myself.
Thank you. You got this 👊🏼
