HIP HOP FAN'S FIRST TIME HEARING 'The Beach Boys - I Get Around' | GENUINE REACTION

- I get around to listening to some incredible music, don't I?
The Beach Boys - I Get Around really reminds me of 60s summertime even though I was never there to experience it... The Beach Boys in this video really knew how to show us what life was like back then. The stage presence in I Get Around is so different to the sort of stage presence we see today in Rock Music. It is so interesting to see how bands like The Beach Boys pathed the way for future Rock Bands and also how they were a major influence in the music we hear today, even though it has come so far. Please make sure to send over more suggestions to music from this era if you want to see me continue this.
Here is my reaction to hearing The Beach Boys - I Get Around for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations 🏖️🏄🌞
OH YES!!!!! Good Vibrations is an absolute MUST!!!!
Oh my goodness you're going to like them
Listen to what you like. Your true fans will stand by you. That's Brian Wilson playing bass and singing the high notes, the genius behind the band.
The Beach Boys practically had a new hit song every single week. They were prolific, Brian was the genius, but their harmonies always blew me away!
Don't worry about the haters and the unfaithful folks. We love you how you are! Rock on
All genres
What they just said👏🙌‼️💯
It's your channel who cares what you listen to finding new music is what you're supposed to be doing right opening your mind expanding everything finding new genres
Exactly! 💯%
Big time agree..👍
Thats right, 60s had surfer music, rock, psychedelic, and motown. Loved all of it.
💯💯
Yeah, honestly don’t even give it any air MollyBoy. Those people are huge babies and/or trolls. Don’t feed ‘em and they eventually will just go away.
Anyone complaining about you featuring different kinds of music should consider that it's all connected. I am a die hard Metallica fan who also loves everything from bands like The Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Elton John, you name it. If it sounds good, I'm down to listen, regardless of genre. Subscribers should have enough self control to simply watch the reactions they choose and move along past the ones they don't without making a big deal about it or shunning the channel. Anything else is just an online temper tantrum. I love this channel.
My sentiments exactly!
Hear hear mate! Good music is good music and Molly Boy listens to some damn fine music!
Amen ! My thoughts exactly. Like it or move on!
Also my exact thoughts👍 You go Molly Boy!!
I'm 63 next month, I still enjoy the true classic rock of 50's & 60's. But also like metal . My grandkids think it's cool. The youngest grand is a boy, that has found he likes some older songs.
Caught him singing a song, asked him where he learned it. He said "Guardians of the Galaxy: volume 2"
I wouldn't have imagined he'd like "Come and get your love" by Red Bone.
Made me proud..😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The Beach Boys are California royalty. Their harmonies are legendary and Brian Wilson is a genius composer. Paul McCartney once said that God Only Knows is the song that “gets” him every time. Huge vault to open - can’t wait.
I suggested God Only Knows yesterday after Mollyboy did California Dreaming and asked for more haunting 60s songs. It's like something from heaven!
Good Vibrations - ground-breaking track.
God Only Knows - perfection.
The Beach Boys belonged to a sub-genre that revolved around Southern California beach and surfing culture. Jan and Dean also belong in this genre. There was a whole bunch of semi-disposable movies made around the culture as well, with titles like Beach Blanket Bingo.
The difference you're seeing in stage presence is that it is impossible to do the complex choreography of modern stage shows and keep enough breath to sing. Consequently, now the performer's live voice is buried in multiple tracks so that the song sounds exactly the same no matter where or when it is performed. Also remember that TV was relatively new back then, and shows like Ed Sullivan were done live, often with only one or two cameras, so performers were limited in how much movement they could put in and still be tracked by the cameras.
As for people being pissy that you're exploring different genres, your exploration is what this channel is all about, so please keep going!
Don’t forget to add Southern California car culture to the list. The car and cruising songs are some of the best.
The girls were screaming for Dennis Wilson, the drummer. Chicks loved Dennis. Brian Wilson, the oldest brother, is the bassist singing falsetto. He is a bona fide genius. Carl, the youngest brother, is playing the twelve string Rickenbacker. He had the voice of an angel. Their cousin, Mike Love, is the lead singer. He was always a dork and a weird dancer. Still is. 😂. Their friend Al is the other guitarist. Your insight that they were all shy is spot on. Brian suffered greatly from mental illness after a childhood of severe abuse and it had a huge impact on later Beach Boys music, which is where his unique production genius really shines. Definitely worth exploring more!
To be fair to the girls, Dennis was a good looking bloke in any era.
The Beach Boys were performing on the Ed Sullivan Show, he was very strict about how performers behaved on his show. That's the main reason for the stiff dancing and posture while performing. Rumors say that Ed Sullivan nearly had a heart attack when Elvis and the Beatles performed. Ahhh... good times. 😂
Please Mollyboy play The Beach Boys doing "Good Vibrations". It's terrific. 👍
This is one of the earliest Beach Boys songs. They evolved so much through their careers. "Good Vibrations" and "Little Deuce Coop" would be good songs to do, but really, there are so many great ones it'll be hard to narrow down.
This Clip is from the “Ed Sullivan Show “ that was on every week and had a lot of different guests , from rock and roll and other sounds! Got to see and hear a lot of rock legends!
The Beatles debuted on the Ed Sullivan show!!
Forget those people complaining about what you react too. Rock and heavy metal is awesome but there is so much more wonderful genres of music in this world to explore. Kudos to you for going there! You do you! Keep it up! ❤
Well said!
Yes, some have a very narrow view as if only their youth era and genre of music within the Rock era.... was the only relevant one to them and therefore others. Some younger today also it is a certain type and artist that will define their interest. Music through changes much slower today vs the 60s here that drastically changed thru the decade from hair to clothes and of course genres of music evolving in music that all could have hit songs vs just one style ruling.
Thanks!😊@@lennieblue
Oh Declan mate I am so so happy to see you reacting to loads of different things, please don’t let the haters bother you! To me I think it makes this journey even better and more joyous. Keep it up mate, you’re working amazingly at this! Now that you’ve heard something from
Beach Boys you HAVE to check out ‘Good Vibrations’, it was a ground-breaking song!
@@bradwalters2612 omg his real name is Declan? I love that name from the old version of the Highlander! Sexy, I wanted to name my child that if I had a boy. So then why call himself Mollyboy? Like doing Molly? I don’t get the nicknames you randomly have in England, Storm? It would make sense for band or writers pen name? I’m just wondering? Love him anyway, don’t worry Storm I could be your grammas, so I love learning and watching you learn as young kids, you’ll be telling these stories to your kids too! Lol💁🏼♀️🤪
@ haha yeah. MollyBoy’s name coming from when he was recording hip hop music I believe and like most hip hop artists would he would go by a different name and yeah I do believe it was to do with Molly, as in MDMA. I don’t believe that’s something MollyBoy even did but it think it was just the vibe for his music and it stuck as a bit of a nickname. Storm’s name is actually Storm though I think. Please correct me if I’m wrong about any of this though @MollyBoy
Hey my grandsons name is Declan! Great name lol
The BEST music reaction Chanel on UA-cam.... exposing a new generation to some of the greatest tunes...EVER!
Just imagine…..I saw these groups live. The 60’s were a gift no one will ever see again!
I saw The Beach Boys In Memphis in 1973. The warm up act was Billy Joel. Yeah, brother, best years to grow up in.
I saw The Beach Boys earlier this summer for the first time and they rocked it. Awesome
I saw them on the parkway in Philly 4th of July 1985, also saw Chicago the year they played 4th of July Philly parkway.... Talk about Saturday in the Park!
Haters hate, kind of sad, maybe their lives are unhappy. Don't let it touch you. You are awesome and respectful of the artists. I will keep watching for sure. It is your channel, be true to yourself
Lemme tell you something man…I grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s, huge hardcore/nu-metal kid and as I got older The Beach Boys are now in my top 5 bands of all time. Sooooo many bangers
California Girls, Warmth of the Sun, Good Vibrations
And Little Deuce Coup!!
You really need to hear Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit
YES! An iconic, can't be missed, song
Fabulous recommendation!
I agree. White Rabbit absolutely cannot be missed.
@@Ki11erAceI don't think he'll like it or it won't fit in to his play list?
I keep saying that too!
Some people can be so shallow to diss your channel because of one song. Keep up the variety Molyboy.
Good way to weed out the ones who really aren't here for the music.....their loss👍
Brian Wilson is the tall guy playing guitar but also wrote the songs and arrangements. His brother, Carl, is playing guitar next to him. The drummer, Dennis Wilson, is Carl and Brian's brother (he was the only member of the band who was actually a surfer). The blond guitar player is Al Jardine who was the only non family member. Finally there is Mike Love, the guy not playing an instrument. He is Dennis. Carl and Brian's cousin.
Beach Boys is one of my all time favorite bands. Their album Pet Sounds is said to be one of the greatest albums of all time. It was so innovative at the time and Brian Wilson was a musical genius. Paul McCartney said the Beatles did not know what to do with themselves after that album came out and they felt like they really had to step up their game. Some of my favorite songs include Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, and Wouldn’t it Be Nice
The hell with the haters. There are multitudes of people who like classic rock so you will gain far more than you will lose
I'm only here since the switch away from metal to classic rock. I like some of that stuff, but I'd never follow a channel like that. I'm loving what he's doing lately though.
Nicely put.😊
0:35 simple...don't like..? then leave...🤔. Absolutely love, MollyBoy , that you've gone this far back..appreciate it 👍🇨🇦
Nobody else ever sounded like The Beach Boys. Mind you, they came out in the very early sixties and held their own against established sounds, like Elvis, and the newer sound of the British Invasion, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Kinks, etc.
I have always said that Mr. Bungle's "California" album is a Beach Boys album if they had allowed Charles Manson to join the band all those years ago
I think Jan and Dean sounded a lot like them.
It might not be on my playlist but if it comes on, I’m turning it up. It’s cheerful!
The Beach Boys were the start of Surf Music all over the US. They inspired groups like Jan and Dean, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and Dick Dale. Their harmonies were impeccable. I saw them in concert in 1963 at Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania.
Im here for all genres! Love your reactions
Just concentrate on your viewers that you make happy. I'm a 74 year old lady, and your reactions to the oldies music makes me very happy! Keep it up! Hugs from Texas. :)
Man, as a 49 year old, I say listen to everything. As much as you can. No, not all of it will "speak" to you personally, but that's how you find out. Never listen to anyone with extremely limited musical taste. Variety and diversity is what makes life grand!
Also, even if some of this music isn't your "jam", I think it's good to know some music history and see/hear who may have influenced your favorite artist, and who influenced them, and so on.
It's true, and I have so many genres on my playlist. Your playlist should be diverse as hell! I've got outlaw country, some alt country, classic rock, classical, ambient, electronic, eighties, some funk, alternative/new wave. I think if you only like one type of music, you're very limited.
MOLLY BOY Your Channel is awesome! Look forward to your new reactions!
Try Allman Brothers Whipping Post live at Fillmore East. You'll love the guitar players. And Greg Allman singing is absolutely amazing!
Looking forward to those for sure!
He will love the Allman Brothers!
Definitely The Allman Brothers, and some Creedence Clearwater Revival just to liven things up. Born On the Bayou, I Put a Spell On You, and I Heard It Through the Grapevine would be good choices.
Your southern accent during Charlie Daniels band was hilarious! British dude doing southern accent. 😂 Hilarious!
Surfer rock at its finest! Of course, being born in 88, my favorite Beach Boys song is Kokomo. Highly recommend!
The Beach Boys are legends. They are THE kings of classic 60s harmonies, which was an era loaded with fantastic music and harmonies. The Beach Boys have a plethora of huge hits.
Don't forget The Beatles, they also could harmonize their asses off.
WOULDNT IT BE NICE!❤
In My Room
@@libertyblake873 She's real fine my 409!
Some of us old folks come here to watch your joy in finding new music, specifically our music. It gives us joy to see you expand your music tastes while discovering what we sometimes have taken for granted. Like it was said, it is your channel and you need to pick what you want to discover. 60s music was rock, not metal, that didn't step in until the 70s, but it is rock none the less. The term "rock" is wide with many sub genres. Even in the 60s. Keep expanding your mind. Keep learning. BTW, getting booked on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the day was a big deal.
Your channel your rules. Forget everyone else.
Don't listen to anyone who complains about listening to new music. Music is a journey. Find something that speaks to you and it will lead you to the next step, and the next one after that. What I love about your channel is watching you go on this journey and finding new things. Keep it up!
It's your channel and don't let others who don't like it for whatever reason. This was on the Ed Sullivan show and I remember it very well. It was on my 10th birthday September 27 1954. It was like my special present. Loved The Beach Boys then and love them today!
This song came out in 1964. I was 14. I think it's great you listen to all eras of music. Shows your open minded.
The Ed Sullivan Show is TV's longest running variety show. It ran for 23 years from 1948 through 1971. This came out in 1964 when I was 4. I love The Beach Boys! They had a very distinctive sound that was different from other bands. Their first song was Surfin" in 1961 and their last his song was Kokomo in 1988. This is a deep rabbit hole to dive into. I really love your reactions to music because I can just see the them so clearly in your expression. I'm sure you'll get to 100,000 subscribers soon.
California kid here, born in 1959, raised and still living in Southern California ( Dodgers yeah!) The 60's and 70's were the best and most fun time to be alive, even with all the political unrest. The music was unreal! I feel privileged to have experienced this stuff close up. Great reaction as always MB. Keep on keepin' on!
I've had the pleasure of living though late 50s to now. I'm celebrating my 67th birthday today and have experienced every genre of music and can't wait to hear the next decade of music..... God willing.
Keep up the great work @ MollyBoyTV 💙
As someone with a vast diversity in music taste I approve your selections. This is your journey and no one else's, don't ever change and certainly don't ever apologise because your real supporters are happy to tag along for the ride 😁
Yes! Exactly! The best UA-cam reactors are those who are interested in expanding their awareness and (hopefully) appreciation of all kinds--and eras--of music. And during the '60s, especially, there were *many* different kinds of music that were popular and hit the top of the charts. If listeners only want to hear reactions to hard rock, heavy metal, or whatever, there are countless other UA-cam sources out there. I could say a lot more but I'll stop there....
Brian Wilson was a genius developing the harmonies for Beach Boys! Well, he was a musical genius, period!😊🎶🎸♥️
The big guy out front that is singing the high notes is Brian Wilson, a legitimate musical savant. The Beach Boys were huge in the 1960's, early 70's. The guy on screen right, singing, is Mike Love. The Beach Boys harmonies were exceptional.
Wait until you hear some of their recorded material.
The harmonies are truly on another level.
I came and stayed because I love your exploration of the time when music took honest-to-God talent. I'm sticking around. Not every song is a fave, but who cares? You are so enjoyable to watch. I love your appreciation of "my era."
Unfortunately there’s also quite a few older people who refuse to give new music a chance! I’ve always felt that a lot of folks freeze their musical taste in their 20’s and never try to appreciate music that came before them OR music that comes later. I’m in my early 60’s and feel that good music is one of the few things that make life bearable and ALL generations have great musicians that need to be heard! ❤❤❤❤. You do you but whatever you decide, this is absolutely the best music reaction channel I’ve come across PERIOD
If you haven't reacted to their song "Good Vibrations" you're missing out! ❤ The group consists of 3 brothers Dennis Wilson (drums), Brian Wilson (taller with dark hair), Carl Wilson (shorter with dark hair), their friend Al Jardine (far left) and Mike Love (lead singer and cousin).
THE BEACH BOYS "GOOD VIBRATIONS" IS A MUST MOLLYBOY. I AM BORN AND RAISED IN GROOVY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, I LOVE THE OCEAN 🏄♂️☀️ AWESOME REACTION MOLLYBOY!! 😊💗🔥🤘✌️
Nice reaction to the Beach Boys' "I Get Around". The tall band member singing high harmonies is the leader, and resident genius, Brian Wilson. 2 of his brothers Dennis on drums + Carl on guitar are in the band + a cousin. Brian wrote most of their songs worth checking out.
"Good Vibrations" "California Girls" are a couple more BB tunes worth a listen.
You rewind as many times as you like. This is what it's about. Exploration of music you've never heard.
The right music at the right time...100 million albums....
There was a friendly rivalry between bands from two sides of the pond. On the American side we had the Beach Boys and on the British side we had the Beatles. They actually admired and at times mimicked each other’s music. Like the Beach Boys surfer sound in the Beatles hit Back in the USSR
Love what you’re doing mate.
I absolutely love this era and watching you appreciate, learn, and discover the vast array of fantastic music. It’s a vibe all to itself. Keep going, MollyBoy!✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
The harmonies 😊 California girls and good vibrations are great too. The Beatles early stuff puts a smile on my face. She loves you, Help,Twist and shout and Please Please me are a few although I do love the later Beatles. Great reaction and Peace out Molly ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
“Good Vibrations” Beach Boys is fantastic!
I don't blame you for wanting to go back to those times. I was born in 1958 and got to experience all of those decades' music and it was magical all the way through the 90s. I think I was so lucky to be around for all of that.
I was 22, and my first ever concert was The Beach Boys (live in Belfast) 1991. What a night, truly amazing.
I recommend them singing "Surfer Girl" (live at Knebworth). 🖖 Peace
Beach Boys & The Beatles were big influences to each other, both innovative in their own way. 💜💜💜
I went to see them about 6 years ago and had an absolute blast. Believe it or not there was a good number of younger people that were there also. One huge sing along.😂❤Stay safe
I enjoy watching you discover new music. React to whatever you want. The people that complain SUCK!!
My fathers favorite band! He took me to see them at Mile High Stadium in Denver 1993 along with Mamas and Papas.
So lucky
Got to see them in ‘93! Absolutely amazing!! Fingers crossed for America!!🤘🔥
Keep it up Mollyboy! Great music is great music. Genre doesn't matter, it's about the vocals, the intrstruments and the vibe. Music speaks to the soul 🙏❤
I love The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson was a wonderful song writer. God Only Knows and In My Room are my favorites, but, everything they sang and played was wonderful because of their harmonies.
The best thing about you is that you're so open to everything! Don't let them get to you!
The album Endless Summer was one of those albums that everyone wanted or had!!! Like Frampton Comes Alive!! Every song is great!!!😊
Yes!!!
The Beach Boys!!!!
Fantastic harmonies !!
And great song writing!!
Saw them in concert over this Summer and they still sounded the same!!!
Their song :’
“God Only Knows” Is considered to be one of the greatest songs ever!!( read it)
I agree
Still love The Beach Boys! The sunburn I got at Balboa Stadium, August 10, 1975, Beach Boys Concert, with Jesse Colin Young and Pure Prairie League was totally worth it🌞
⛱️ Beach Boys 🏄♂️ 🌊 another reason why I moved to🌞California☀️, the 60's wouldn't be the 60's without them. Peace 😊✌️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 💃 ✨️🕺 Great Reaction👍 "Surfin' USA", "Good Vibrations", and "Fun,Fun,Fun" Endless List of Hit's 😂
Gary, me too! I found OB in 1968ish. I was absorbed into the culture. Now I'm a 76 yr old hippy.
The first one to sing is Brian Wilson, he wrote 90% of their songs!!
The singer that’s dancing, no instruments that’s “Mike Love”!!
Mike is still dancing around, saw them this Summer and still dancing!!!
I drive an MX5 and I think the Beach Boys are the ultimate roof down music, pure Californian sun almost bottled in audio form. How can you not smile at the Beach Boys.
I grew up in the shadow of the Beach Boy culture....even felt into the 80's. I feel so fortunate to have grown up in LA when and where I did.
Hard rock and metal is my favorite music, but that doesn't prevent me from listening to every other type of music. Good music is all that matters! You listen and react to whatever music you want to, and all real music lovers will always support you.
It’s cool watching your musical journey bro. Really enjoying it!
Was born in 67 - but thankful I raised my kids to these classics. They have fun dancing with their own kids when they find one of these songs 🎵
This is best US rock band from the 60's. Love the Beach Boys!
You are doing a super job. Remember haters be hatin' Shine them on. They don't matter to your goals.
Having been born in '65, I grew up listening to the beach boys. When I was like 16 or 17 I went with my friends family to 6 Flags Great Adventure over in New Jersey. The beach boys were there in concert. It was the only concert I ever attended and it was wonderful. I was hoarse afterward from singing along. There is a rabbit hole waiting to be dug out here. It's just a matter of if you want to go. I had a cassette I nearly wore the iron oxide off of from them. Like others have said, it's a sub genre all its own. Not rock, kinda pop(ish). Surfer girl, In my room come to mind from that cassette. Others have listed others. Plenty to dig if you are willing to get out the shovel.
Love your rewinds
Artists of the 50's and 60's were obviously the pioneers of pop and rock music, kind of like the root system of a tree. So I think for you to be interested in exploring and can appeciate this music regardless of criticism is not only cool but also smart. Certainly gratifying for an older lady like me.
😂😂😂😂 full rewind to piss off the knob heads who pissed you off last night. PERFECT RESPONSE 👏👏👏👏
I am having a blast bouncing around the decades and different genres. And I am love, love, loving watching you discover all the classics.
Keep being amazing and pissing of knobheads😂🎉❤
Glad to see you enjoying the music I grew up with. 60's and 70's
Definitely go down this rabbit hle. It's deep and magnificent
This is your channel. The music we want to hear is whatever you enjoy. There will always be unhappy negative people. Ignore them. Only room for happy vibes.
He grew up lostening to "The Four Freshmen" and learned to replecate their harmony parts.❤
More Beach Boys! Happy music.
I’ve turned so many people on to your channel, and they all love you because the people who get you are also just into music. Keep doing you, my boy. You’re awesome and you don’t need to adjust for people who aren’t here for you. ❤❤❤
The looks on your face are priceless. To see you appreciate The Beach Boys makes me smile!
Great reaction to a classic summertime feel good song 😁👍.
Can't believe somebody unsubscribed to your channel because you reacted to one video with a style of music they didn't like. If I see you reacting to something I'm not so keen on, I just don't watch that video. There's always something else coming up to keep me interested though. You've built a great channel mate.
My Dad played The Beach Boys a lot when I was growing up! Just love them ❤
I’d bet that most of your subscribers love many genres of music, and want to see you react to a good variety of them. Enjoy it all, and the haters can piss off.🤓🎸
Check out 'Fun Fun Fun " sometime . The Beach Boys wrote great dance music !
