When he turns on the camera crew & director in the lobby…"Why do you need this?" My answer "Because only once in every few decades or so, does someone come along who says things or creates things that you can't stop looking at or listening to: Michelangelo, John Steinbeck, Bob Dylan, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There are some things in this universe that are mind-blowing in their beauty: images of star nebulas from the Hubble, that footage of butterflies from that National Geographic show. Taking a camera to show the world footage of you pressing elevator buttons is the closest I will ever get to this kind of greatness or beauty. We all want to hear what you have to say. I want to hear what you have to say. You are my hero." And at the end of that, I would crack like Frank Oz speaking at Jim Henson's funeral ("That's when I knew he loved me…and I love him"), and walk off, crying.
I wouldn't categorize myself as a nerd, but I would definitely call myself a big Patton Oswalt fan. Funny's funny. ~And that's all I have to say about that.
I'm curious why the filmmaker chose the fans s/he chose. Like the first couple around 0:03 sharing a burger, and the large man who says something about how he perceives Oswalt as being the "voice" of the "upper middle class"... I wonder if there is intentional irony in capturing these kinds of fans? At first I thought they were poor choices, why interview this guy of all people, but now I think it was intentional. Still curious though.
Punctuated by the woman sitting next to him looking at him like "Whaaaaat the hell are you talking about?" and then giggling. I wonder how Patton feels about being the voice of angst, "oppressed", white, upper-class Orange Count-ians.
Apparently Steve has cancer. It's like, fuck off, we all have cancer, right? I have cancer pretty bad right now, but I go to chemotherapy, I get it taken care of, I get back to work.
Why is this fucking video fucking censored? You're doing a doc about the expression of an artist, while censoring his expression. Pretty fucking contradictory, wouldn't you say?
Why do people keep saying he's funny....Iv'e seen him in films, I've listened to his jokes and skits and none of it is funny in the slightest. Normally I don't try to judge as much as criticize in positive way, but seriously people he's not funny and in films it's painful to see him perform. In cgi or cartoons yeah, but in the heavy spotlight NAY!! He reminds me of a city version of the larry the cable guy without a solid backbone of humor clichés.
You say you are trying to be constructive, be you really aren't. The only thing you have against him is just saying you don't like him otherwise than saying he's not funny and reminds you of a different version of Larry (which is not really an apt comparison showing me you really haven't seen much of Patton's material.) He has a contemplative, analytic style that contains a nice balance of sophomoric and nerd humor with fairly eloquent speech to boot. It makes him interesting to listen to most of the time and it is a style that has broad appeal rather than a limited demographic. So outright saying he's not funny is out of the question when he has headlined sold-out show across the nation. Although, you are more than welcome to hold on to your opinion granted that you give him more chances if you haven't already. Ultimately if you don't like him, alas, you don't.
yes he is funny and one of the top comedians right now...comparing him to Larry the Cable guy ? really ? now that's hilarious i'll give you that...great joke
What Patton wrote about Boston will live forever as a letter to humanity. Luv him.
Eating a good burger and listening to Patton Oswalt would be the shit
That's what I love about Patton -- he's quite the wordsmith
Patton is a brilliant writer & performer. A gifted man.
When he turns on the camera crew & director in the lobby…"Why do you need this?"

Is the guy at 9:08 reading his lines off of cue cards to his right?
Suddenly I'm craving a failure pile in a sadness bowl.
Is that Grumpus driving a Lexus at 0:52?
The Most Triumphant Example of the Sad Clown trope probably is Real Life.
That guy at the beginning looks SO MUCH like Blaine Capatch, that it's scary!
I think he was being facetious.
"I couldn't describe Irvine if you paid me". I could, the ultimate planned community, near the beach.
As far as comedy goes in film or stand up. Where is it. I did not find any this time.
I'm wearing Boots of Escaping!!!!!

Apparently Steve has cancer. It's like, fuck off, we all have cancer, right? I have cancer pretty bad right now, but I go to chemotherapy, I get it taken care of, I get back to work.
Ashton Kutcher as the executive producer....interesting.

Wonder what that hotel room smells like. Patton looks like he's lost in a sea of farts.
če si srečen in če srečo rad bi še delil z nekom ...
Go figure executive producer Ashton Kutcher.
FATton Oswalt
that's one moody lesbian
is patton quirky? lord i hate that word so much i dont even know what it means, maybe.
the trumpet in the intro song is annoyingly off tempo. sorry. unnecessary douchebag comment, i know.

"Without a solid backbone of humor cliches"
That's good. Did you write that?
