I lived in San Francisco in the 90's and would go to comedy clubs regularly. And I never got to see any of these guys. Tom Rhodes, Greg Proops, and such but no one that went on to be big. Damn.
Two things: 1) Like Patton, I too was born in Norfolk, VA and it is indeed pronounced "Norfuck" by us locals. 2) Dave Chappelle is 100% right - funny totally beats good-looking. Patton is totally adorable.
I saw Oswalt and Chapelle at the Punch in July 1997, on the same weekend. Patton was awesome but Chappelle had me laughing until I literally couldn't breathe. I'll never forget that show.
Are you fucking kidding me with this table? Jeff Garlin, Warren Huchinson, Dave Chappelle, Kathleen Madigan, Harland Williams Patton Oswalt? Yes, I am a standup Comic groupie. What a fucking group!!!
Is that just what they show before all the 'HBO Comedy Hours?' I was the same table in Chappelle's show. Is there a full-length video of them talking? I have to know!!!
THANKS FOR THE OSWALT SHOW!!! Funny IS sexy - for men. A female comedian generally has to date another comedian or a guy with a GREAT sense of humor otherwise, they intimidate most guys.
According to a Comedy Bang Bang episode with Patton, that is Scott Aukermann and a couple of friends entering the theater right before Patton comes out.
Hey, I happen to think he's funny, he's just not your usual type of comedian. Try getting stoned on some really good pot and try listening to him again-- he's worth the time.
Well, his first wife died in their bed, he's suffered from depression for years, he drinks a lot, and he has a kid. Plus, he was in his late 20's here; now he's 50. Not everyone ages like Rob Lowe.
In 1997 Patton saw that cancel culture existed. And he said "omg yass queen" and endorsed it. As funny as I found him before he's that much sadder today. Shameful. Also, I heard a rumor that he was unhappy in marriage and murdered his wife via a planned overdose. Man, I hope that's not true.
Patton Oswalt isn't sexy or funny. He's one of the worst actors and comedians I've ever seen. I can't believe Dave Chappelle would even given that loser the time of day. Then again, Dave Chappelle is a pretty swell guy.
Amidst all of the world's unfair lunacy, there's something especially rewarding knowing Patton's been a successful comedian for over 30 years.
The talent at that table...
Nate Hamann fucking amazing.

Bunch a goats
Jesus...that opening scene is like "The Monsters of Comedy."
Seriously my favorite comedian. His abstract and weird comedy is hilarious.
The intro makes me miss the '90s
Wow, Patton Oswalt's opinions on LA and New York have completely changed.
So many good comics sitting at one table.....

Like that old Patton bit, about being old and seeing early bands "I saw REM when only four people showed up"
Man thanks so much for this. This is great footage.
"Pain go bye bye juice." Yes!
Kyle Hoffa 🍺 🥃 🍷 🍸
thanks I thought he said Pango Bai like some inside drinker's Asian impression.
holy shit flashback.. I remember watching these years ago, thanks for the upload! nostalgia'd
That was a table full of comedy legends
TY for your content contributions
Thanks for posting this! Awesome.
This was such a good special.
I want to see the rest of that dinner from the beginning. Oswalt, Chappelle, Harland williams, the list goes on. I want to see the rest of that.
thx 4 posting
"kiss ya'lls ass" the Virgina sure came out hahahaha love Patton!
This was my intro to most of these comedians back then. And I'm a better man for it 😅
Dave Chappelle Jeff Garlin, Harland Williams, Kathleen Madigan in the beginning. And some other black guy.
He ended up choosing beauty
I never heard of him until I started watching king of Queens reruns recently.
How did Blart the Mall Cop get his own TV show and movie when this guy is 1 million times funnier?
This was the 1st time I was introduced to Pat noswell remember watching this on HBO became a fan instantly
The bar in the beginning is Vesuvius in sanfran popular beatnik hangout Kerouac Burroughs etc used to drink there
That must be the funniest table ever.
I almost shit my pants when he was talking about the guy who shit his pants.
It’s really weird how much language has changed in 20 years
Are you fucking kidding me with this table? Jeff Garlin, Warren Huchinson, Dave Chappelle, Kathleen Madigan, Harland Williams Patton Oswalt? Yes, I am a standup Comic groupie. What a fucking group!!!
I wish someone would post the video of him talking about getting stuck in the Ann Frank house
He was just born there he said.
"lets have at em"
"We don't drink, we don't smoke NORFOLK, NORFOLK, NORFULK!"
paingobyebyejuice LOL
Is that just what they show before all the 'HBO Comedy Hours?' I was the same table in Chappelle's show. Is there a full-length video of them talking? I have to know!!!
I thought he was the bass player from dropkick Murphys.
Where is the Jeff Garlin show from this series??? It was so great.
OMG he's so young. He's only like 35 in this.
Actually he was 28 here , in 1997
He grew up in Sterling. NOVA and all. They can't help how they talk up there.
How cool is it that he's sitting at a table in a bar with Chapelle...
Apparently it’s his most regrettable relationship 😂
@@gratefuldoge8598 Chapelle is part of the Jew "in circle," so no risk in defending his "alphabet people" drama.
@Fehnrique
Yup. And she looks better today than she did 14 years ago.
Funny how 12 years later on his special New York is a complete shit hole and he only lasts a month before he moves back to L.A. lol
How fuckin awesome is the intro music?
Holy crap, let's see, Patton, Jeff Garlin, Dave Chapell, Harlan Williams, who am I missing at that table?
Kathleen Madigan
0:26, smoking in a California bar, this IS old. 1997 was the last year smoking in bars was legal.
They bringing it back now I heard. Well only if the bar also sells bud too. And you have to do it outside which is LAME!
This is NY lol
lets really break his spirit as far as LA is concerned lolll
THANKS FOR THE OSWALT SHOW!!!

@Inferno41
I recognize Oswalt and Chappelle, who are the other others?
Jeff Garlin, Kathleen Madigan, Harlan Williams no one knows who the other guy is.
What kind of tourist goes to Norfuck?
How sad to be the one guy at that table who is not a household name In the world of stand up comedians
Before "The Goldbergs"..
@heavell99 He didn't grow up there, like he said.
ELP is awesoooooome
He got better.
Liked @ 5:14 🤣🤣☠️☠️

@rsoldier mmmm chocolatey
wow...i can't believe so many people disliked this. OH WAIT.

So Patton is one childhood move away from being a skinny, blonde surfer dude? Sure.

Ah back in the day when you could be blatantly offensive
Hey, I happen to think he's funny, he's just not your usual type of comedian. Try getting stoned on some really good pot and try listening to him again-- he's worth the time.
Its painful to see him then and now. You can literally see the depression on his face now. He's aged and he seems to be getting sadder and sadder.
Well this is 20 years old...
um getting older and sadder is part of life, you must be young
Well, his first wife died in their bed, he's suffered from depression for years, he drinks a lot, and he has a kid. Plus, he was in his late 20's here; now he's 50. Not everyone ages like Rob Lowe.
Well not everybody stabs themselves with botox needles and get facefucked by plastic surgery like Rob Lowe either.
he's a million times better now than he was then.
Wow, really? on youtube?!?!? I'm seriously fucking shocked. this site sucks so bad for any video longer than 5 mins.

Unlike you.

somehow patton became a successful comedian. maybe you just do not know comedy.
"successful"
What with all his awards, TV shows and wildly successful movies. Yeah, he's basically Jim Carrey.
jim carrey is among the greatest performers of our generation. i said successful, not legendary
