    The magician is back. 😎Such a nice treat on a wednesday night. Thanks for the midweek video Steve. Engine coming along nicely, hope you get those lifters soon. Of course patiently waiting for Saturday episode. Cheers 👍👍

      There looks to be some serious assembly in the those tdv6’s ......! Fair play to you for taking on such a job! To be honest I’d personally be slow enough to attempt one of them! I’ve done shit loads of 4 and 6 banger inline engines but nothing V ! Well yet anyways! I have a few customers with discos so no doubt the day will come !!!!!!

    The oil microfilter for turbos is interesting, really, to the engineers who placed it under the cylinder head, ...
    Thank you very much for showing us.

    Alp got lucky there - video on demand! Those head bolts look like bloody hard work! Pitty about the lifters :-( Mind you, better to do it now than having to remove the cam covers when it's all back together and the body is on I suppose.

      Damn right! They are a pig to get off and on with the body on. Especially the right hand side. Alp only got lucky because of the lifter issue.

      @@pistonbroke bless u and that’s extremely kind of u , fingers crossed it will then be a smooth rebuild for u , thks again for taking the time making these videos as i assume it must really slow u down from the rebuild , well that’s my Saturday viewing sorted , thks again Gary 👍

      @@garystuart226 it takes twice as long when you have to set up cameras, try and get the best light, work out what to say and how to say it and then someone in the background makes loads of noise so you have to wait or do another take, And then go home and spend 2 or more hours editing. If i didn't enjoy it, i wouldn't do it!

    Dedication at that time of nite Steve, lifters? Stripped a freelander 2 with snapped timing belt, followers snapped, some lifters were tight some with some play as yours have, ordered new ones, would u believe the same? Built car up with new parts, runs great so still not sure if they should or shouldn't compress with fingers lol surely all new ones would be same? I look forward to seeing how yours come, roll on sat lads

      I have a day job so this only gets done in my spare time. Sid said the lifters were rattling so best to do them all now.

      @@pistonbroke hes 100% no point just doing some, but I'm still uncertain on the freelander how lifters should be as I said my new ones were same as old? Some I could some I couldn't compress? Maybe same as buckets if u leave them wrong way down? Anyway it will be interesting to see how your come are they genuine or aftermarket? U have the patience of a saint lol....see u sat pal, good luck

      If theyre in the engine undisturbed then they shouldn't compress. The new ones need to be primed, they have some oil in them but they're not pumped up so maybe thats why some compress and some dont. Once in the engine and running they should be fine.

    what would cause the lifters to fail in such a quntity do you recon ?

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  3 роки тому

      They likely didn't fail all at once but one by one over time.

  • @serbanandru492

    it wouldn't be cheaper to buy a new one, all this hours of work and new parts.. I think it costs alot

      Watch the series from the start, then you'll see why it was rebuilt.

    Whole engine just looks badly designed. It doesn't deserve your skill and effort but I'm looking forward to next episode 😉
