One of the most basic mistakes is having the PO investigate itself. Fraud is criminal and should be investigated by the police. Plus, do these people not have rights? How can the courts prosecute these individuals with their basic rights being abrogated?
What a shame, I hope they all get justice & clear their name, must be awful being accused of being a thief by a massive corporation & no one believes you , it’s a good job she was strong enough to get through it
The government have covered up this issue by not telling the police to investigate the post office for fraud and lying through their teeth and if I can would not use post office services
And the executives who perpetrated this scandal are still not in prison, but have moved on to other lucrative positions, and even retain their 'honours'.
It just lacks words to describe what all those people has gone through in their lives... Alan Bates encouraged people to write to local MPs about the case to. At least this we all can all do trying to help.
What kind of mindset thinks scores of postmasters who'd operated honestly for years would all in concert suddenly become dishonest and fiddle the books?
The board of directors, post office investigators, Fujitsu board, civil servants and government ministers who were involved need to be tried for perjury and manslaughter for their part in this whole miscarriage of justice
I can totally relate to preferring to commit suicide rather than go through that. I used to trust the police and CJS. I guess I had one or two doubts starting a few years back - a couple of high profile cases that made me realize that not doing anything wrong isn't enough. The Christmas before the lockdowns started I got a letter to say I had to do jury service. It got into a total panic over this. I don't feel comfortable about doing it - I don't like to judge and don't want to be responsible for potentiall imprisoning an innocent person. But also, I get agorophobia (fear of being trapped). It's never a problem if I'm in control of what I do, but the thought of being shut in a jury room. What if I have a panic attack, and then get arrested for contempt of court. Fortunately, I didn't get called. Then we had the lockdowns and police arresting people for drinking coffee. The past three years events have been utterly terrifying. The country has taken a massive authoritarian lurch. I think we're all likely to be considered acceptable collateral damage nowadays. Then hearing about this case, and more recently the Lucy Letby case. Hubby and I talked about this and we'd kill ourselves rather than risk arrest for something we haven't done. What the police and courts do to people is beyond torture. And they know only too well that a lot of the time they're doing it to innocent people
No doubt you are also thinking about the Andrew Malkinson miscarriage of justice rape case too. The police and justice system knew he didn’t do it but let him rot in jail for years! It is improbable that he is the only one in such a situation.
Fantastic interview this should be shown over and over again , I feel so sorry how we judge things , went for the cheapest quote , had no external so called experts , might as well stopped manual with more staff , and how much money has the so called justice system has made , and the management and the most over used word CEO have made plus Bonuses , u tube social media now have the power to support this Scandal

Having worked in a sub-post office temporarily I can tell you that a 'locum' ethnic person sent by Head Office to stand in for holidays across the country covered his 'mistakes' by scamming the pensioners and short-changing even the local business by using slight of hand - a 'ONE OFF' - due to his desire to actually earn a living and save to go home abroad for holidays (he ducked and dived his way through his ineptitude). Yet SO MANY long-term employees who have been having their work balanced and audited for years get accused - surely anyone could see it was some sort of technical error???
Poor women, she needs an official apology and compensation
And the criminals who did this to these people have got away with it
Corporations?
What about si called family and so called friends who judged them

They knew and punished those people to cover up.

“Basically planned our suicides?” Who said they shoulda planned the suicides of those who ruined their lives?
This poor woman gained a massive amount of weight during her traumatic experiences. Food must have helped her manage those painful emotions.
