Chippewa closed their last 2 factories in Missouri in 2020. Once current stock is sold, no more “Handcrafted in the U.S.A.”, only imports.
Great video on Chippewa. We lost a good brand of boots. I still have 3 pairs of USA made Chippewa boots that will last as long as I need them.
Chippewa Boots is dead. The Original line is discontinued and only four, Made in the USA boots remain in their catalog.
It's very sad I've been wearing the same pair in the lumber yard going on 6 years and I go to replace them just like you said no more USA made 😔
I’m on my third pair of Katahdins from LL Bean. And I also have the Odessa M31-1931 cap toe in Black. Which have been resoled after 10 years of service.
They are great quality for being in the under $300’s . I love mine and also the history of them . They’re very hard to find now a days and are also under appreciated which makes them rare gems . I was very lucky to have found my Katahdins.
That boot looks awesome with black flat sole. Good job.
I like chippewa boots better when they were made in chippewa falls, WI and it was a 10-15 min drive to the factory from eau claire.
What model are these?
Chippewa 6 inch bought 5 years ago... 3-5 days realistic break-in. Honestly was dreading the process but wasn't bad. Debated so long between them and Redwing but chippewa just had a better look imo.
Chippewa over Redwing for me too.
What’s the model on those specific boots? They look awesome
I have a pair of chippewa cordovan service boot style 1901M25 which are great I had them now for 3 month.
i agree with you. i bought a pair of iron ranger. an a pair of chipewa, ellison 6 inch boots, i ware a 11d, i ordered a 11d the chipewa fit perfect, very comfortable, no breakin. the iron ranger, way to big. got a 10 1/2 d, still to big, got a 10d, too small. just got a pair of chipewa loggers. they fit perfect. very comfortable. no more redwing
I've got the 8" loggers. Absolutley love those boots. I've had mine 8 years now and they still look as good as new.
I bought throughgood and chippewa and dang the quality of chippewa is so much better and size is perfect. Throughgood size wide fit me so tight.
Just picked up the Chippewa Weddell snow boots and these boots are just unreal, best I've had💜👍
I have 4 pair of them. They are good boots.
Those GI mountain boots with the ski-binding grooves you were talking about were generically known as "Chippewas," although I think other bootmakers made them under contract as well. They weighed 4.5 lbs for a pair of size 9s. They were issued to mountain troops, members of the 10th SF Group in Germany and some units up in Alaska from the 60s until the late 80s, when they went to more modern and much lighter weight designs.
The military surplused off their stock of "Chips" in the mid 90s and I got two pairs for $45 each, the best footwear bargain I ever found. I didn't wear them much, as it's like walking around with concrete blocks attached to your feet, but I've developed some metatarsal joint degeneration, so the super-stiff soles that these boots have make for pain-free movement when I want to walk long distances.
As far as I can tell, they are all leather construction with Vibram lug soles liberally nailed on. I imagine re-soling them will cost three times what I paid for them, oh well. I can't see finding equivalent replacements for less than $3-400.
I love my Chippawas!
Just bought a set, tan renegade 1901m22. See what it gives;-). I have used irish setters in the workshop but they are cheap and have a pleather cuff, not good. I have a pair of Danners Recon too, but it seems Danner has taken another turn.... qualitywise?
Great video! I am currently on the lookout for a Chippewa boot and came across your video and there is it..the boot ive been looking for. Which model are those?
I bought a chippewa for the 700 soles. I skipped the thursday captains because I need slip resistant soles.
hi, you are the best ,i watch all your posts , but im from (down under) I im trying to buy a pair of Chippewa boots thesame as you had in the Chippewa moc toe recraft post , the model I believe is Black Whirlwind or sometimes called the 1901 M19 . 6" moc toe wedge sole in black in a wide fit . I cannot find them anywhere that still stocks them ,can you help .
Man i like your videos! But you need to make a little editing and show the before and after. That is always a great shot, and Make your work shine!
I love chippewa but their only sale on the USA and i dont live in that country, but i know they are good boots, american quality.
#1 comfortable and quality. These boots are second to non.
Hi. I love Chippewa boots. Checked their site and contacted them. They stopped making Engineer Boots, Service Boots, Heritage Cap Toe Boots and Harness Boots. They Give no Answer except they stopped making them.
surprisingly, it will became rare item on market, maybe more expensive as a vintage boots
I heard the heels on Chippewa server boots come off easily. Not sure if it's true.
I haven’t come across that but crazier things have happened.
@@CobblersPlus I can't imagine that.
I have a pair with apache leather. What products should I use to clean and condition them?
The Apache leather I believe was the oiled so the Saphir oiled leather would be my choice in neutral for those
I'm no expert but I love using saddle soap to clean
I have a pair of Chippewa edge walkers with a christy sole. Can you put a vibram 360 force sole on them?
Yes. Just have to build a wedge or use a Christi sole for it
