  • In this video we will be resoling these with a combination of Vibram soles using the Vibram 4014 Christ and Vibram 1276 Sierra to add durability and grip as well as conditioning the leather uppers with the Saphir Medaille d,Or Oiled Leather Cream also known as Greasy Cream.

    After watching nearly to the end I was really disappointed not to see the whole process, but accidents happen. Maybe we'll have better luck next time

    Just had these soles put on my Chippewa high heel loggers. I couldn't stand the high arch high heels anymore (getting old) they felt like my feet were being bent in two. They also had the carpet padding foam much to my and my cobblers surprise. He removed that crap and replaced the fiberboard last with leather and a new midsole and flatter shank and vibram soles. I absolutely love these old boots again. Hands down the most comfortable I've ever owned. I can walk all day again with zero pain. I'll never have another type of sole installed again.

    I have a pair of Chippewa loggers that I’ve had for six years soles starting to wear. I was pretty impressed with the soul wear, but I would like to have them restored or whatever you think I could do to them. What do you think the cost would be?

    Can you dye a vibram Christy sole?

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  3 роки тому

      Technically yes but it would change color fast after some wear.

    I have Chippewas very similar to these, and they're kind of sentimental because I evacuated the 2018 Camp Fire with them on and wore them for weeks straight after that. Anyway, love these boots, and wish I could justify resoling them!

    Are Vibram Sierra soles loud on pavement when walking?

    The last two pair of boots of mine that I resoled I put in a leather filler instead of cork. 10 days and they're molded well. I will not be going back.

    I have a pair of Chippewa boots, they were my second pair after some 1k miles. I love them, they were very comfortable for a while but recently that confort has decreased significantly- I’m thinking that foam has deteriorated. Anyway, Alan, I’m hoping I can drive these out to you for a resole since I’m a local.

    When purchasing the soles. Does the sole have to be the same size as the size of the shoe or does the sole have to be a number bigger then the shoe size?

    Judging by the orange color of your t-shirt, should you like the ancient Greek history? The story of Leonidas with his 300 soldiers!

    So is the vibram christy sole like a foam made from rubber or more dense? I’m guessing it’s to make the sole lighter. Is the sole all the same density or does it have layers? Just wondering. I’ve never had a crepe sole before.

    For CXL leather, how can you lighten the color of the shoe? I know the color is infused but what if you wanted to just add in a patina look? Is there a way to do this?

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  4 роки тому

      Not much can be done on oiled leather other then letting it patina naturally the way it wants to
