July 18, 1999 Yogi Berra and David Cone 25th anniversary

- On July 18, 1999 the Yankees celebrated Yogi Berra day and had Don Larsen throw out the first pitch. Amazingly, David Cone started the game and went on to throw a perfect game on that day. I share some thoughts, memories, and reasons this is such a great day for me as a collector. Huge fan of both Berra and Cone so this day is worthy of a celebration.
Always was a huge fan of Berra from my boyhood days. A man of character, family man, and war veteran (survived Omaha Beach). Glad I still have my cards from his playing days, otherwise I probably couldn’t afford today. Thx for sharing.

Surprised you didn't show your Larson - Yogi dual auto perfect game picture.
In addition to being a hall of fame player, and a colorful character in baseball history (with all his Yogi-isms), Yogi Berra is also a war hero. He was a gunner on a navy ship on D-Day. I recently picked up the 2007 Topps Distinguished Service card of Yogi Berra to get close to finishing that 30 card insert set.
@stevegallo8483 Yes, very good point! Berra is a huge part of my collection for all reasons mentioned, and several still left unsaid. I appreciate your addition and will plan a Yogi video in the near future for sure!

Very interesting breakdown, that was a fun watch... I remember seeing that game. Cool Berra bread cards, I didn't realize he had a Bond. I believe Cone is a HOFer when you break it down and reflect. Guys like he and Kevin Brown could get in some day.
