Hi everyone! I want to apologize for not replying to comments from my last video. I did read every comment and loved hearing from you. My week was spent unpacking and it was quite time consuming as you can imagine. Thank you for understanding and I look forward to hearing from you and replying this week. ❤️
The love you have for your music is nothing compared to the satisfaction of setting up your new home exactly the way you want it so that you can just relax and enjoy your new space with your loved ones 😍 I am a recent subscriber to your channel BUT your wonderful personality and devotion to your family shines through just as brightly as your love for vinyl. Just keep on being you!! We'll just love your videos and enjoy them and you as a person even more for it 🤩
Glad to see the Grievous Angel there, Graham is an absolute favorite of mine, and I love Emmy Lou. I've mentioned that Desire is my favorite Dylan, and One More Cup of Coffee with her is my favorite Dylan song. If you don't have them yet, I highly highly recommend the Intervention Records presses of The Flying Burrito Brothers album...they are soooo good. Fun video...good to see you guys getting settled in.
Hi Steve! I agree that One More Cup of Coffee is a wonderful song. ❤️ I do have the Intervention copies of The Flying Burrito Brothers and they are great. I wish Intervention had a bigger catalog because they do great job. Thank you very much and take care. ❤️🤗
If nothing else, it gives me peace of mind to know I can quickly grab some of the most cherished records in my collection. I would want to save them all. Lol. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Hi Melinda. Lovely to hear from you once again. I’m so sorry that your removal company have failed you and your husband. I hope your legal people can hammer the removal company.
Unfortunately, I doubt there is much we can do other than giving them a bad review. There seems to be a lot of leeway for movers and what they can get away with. Once the dust settles, we will give them a very poor review. I know bad reviews greatly affect who we do business with so that's the best counterpunch we will have. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Me too. I still have some things left to do. I need an area rug, window and wall treatments, as well as hanging up my wall art. It's going to be so awesome. I can't wait. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
Wow! I hope everyone in your life appreciates the love and effort you have put into yourr collection. It is one of the best I have seen, and the others have been from lifelong record store owners. Thanks for sharing.❤
If there is some justice in this world the hurricanes will steer clear of your house, and your loved ones will not get hurt at all. Because even though one cannot know a person by watching videos of them, in my book you don't deserve anything less than wonderful happening to you and your beautiful family. Your life stories are so moving, so heartfelt that I really wish and pray for your husband, your daughter and of course yourself, to be spared from any bad luck and rough patches as long as possible. Bless you all:)
Tornados are not something that we have to consider and contend with, however, if we're to consider this I would put my records in a waterproof hard case. Just so that it could be picked up as I went out through the door and placed in my car. Out of interest, there are only about 10 LPs that I would take, however, I certainly would have my hard drive and its back ups ready to go as every piece of music that I think is great is on these.
Well Melinda, your stories are always the best part of your videos. That record that your mom used to own is truly priceless. Thank you for that story. I reserve my" yay she got her furniture finally" until the next video...
So lovely to hear your personal backstories. What an exciting new chapter in FLA. As a Yusef Lateef fan, great to see you'd take him along in an emergency. Thanks for sharing
Wow, well thought out list, Melinda! I would have to sit down and really think about things, can't do it right now, but it's definitely something for the future....have a great week!
Hi Melinda, just a note about record misting. The misting of records may well be caused by the Shrink Wrap. The majority of shrink wrap materials are made from PVC which could well be a major cause of the misting. I had a double album that was in shrink, had HDPE inner and outer sleeves and had misting on both albums on the outer groove sides only. I am removing all of the shrink-wrap from all of my albums that have shrink on them and I suggest everyone does the same. I would also avoid the PVC inner and outer sleeves too, just in case.
A real fun one. Thanks. In one of my moves, during which I did not have a good stereo so did not play my 3,000+ record collection, I had a box with some of my, like this, most personally desirable ones. Guess which box showed some of the most mold damage when I did and started unboxing!
Oh no! That would be my biggest concern. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Hopefully, you have been able to replace some of them and the records themselves were salvageable. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Another great idea for a video topic. And of course you manage to weave it into your current situation. Still always in awe of how you run your channel. This is actually a really good thought process of having this special emergency section. The records you picked are all understandable. Those Zeppelins ❤️. And of course, I love the sentimental favorites and your stories. Totally relatable. Sorry you had such a bad experience with the movers but I’m glad you FINALLY have the furniture. What a mess. Thanks for another fantastic video and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend MM!
Thank you so much for the kind words. You are always very sweet. 🤗 I'm so glad the move is behind us. It was a terrible experience but my husband and I have decided to move forward and not be bitter. My husband left a very negative review for the company and I will be doing the same. Lol. The Led Zeppelin records are very special to me and I rarely see cool records like that while shopping anymore. The records in this video would be impossible to replace and of course the one that was my mom's is the most special of all. My mom never kept anything but she hung on to that Beatles record. Lol. It must have been special to her. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
You have some very special records in your collection. I am proud to be part of. I know you're glad to be just about done. I must admit I miss the conersations we had. I hope that since you're in a new town you'll be able to partake in RSD.
I have missed talking to you as well. I think a normal life is almost within reach now. Lol. We still need a kitchen and to finish unpacking but this crazy time is almost over. Thanks for the shirt and Odyssey and Oracle. They are both very well loved. Take care. 🤗❤️
I was very moved when you talked about your mother as a girl buying records. What also moved me was when she was asked if she regretted marrying and she answered no because then she wouldn't have you two daughters. I experienced something similar once because my wife and I divorced shortly after our son arrived, he was about two. When he was ten he asked me if I regretted having met his mother and I answered the same as your mother, that no, because then would not have you. He was quiet for a little while and then he said - But then you maybe had me with someone you love. I still get a tear in my eye when I think about this and it is more than 20 years ago. By the way, losing a parent as a young person is not easy. My father took his own life when I was 9. Thank god for music. Take care.
That would be a very sad conversation. As a child my thoughts were similar to your son's but now that I'm a mom, I understand what you are saying to be true. ❤️ I am so sorry you lost your dad at such a young age. My mom was only 2 when her mom died and it had a huge impact on her. I can only imagine how that has affected you. I hope you have had a good life despite the setbacks. Music does have a healing effect. Thank you and take care. ❤️
@@MelindaMurphy Thank you Melinda. I can't complain about how my life turned out always surrounded by music. Even in my work. One huge regret though, I never saw Led Zeppelin live.
Great video as always, Melinda. So glad that your furniture nightmare has finally ended. I am sure that is a weight off your mind! I hope that you can now settle down properly in Florida and I hope the hurricanes stay away!!
Thank you! Yes, I feel like we can finally turn the corner. I think we are going to love it here in Florida and we love being able to see our daughter often. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Great choices! I really love those Zeppelin albums. I have a white label Zeppelin 1 that I got years ago, but it’s a little beat up. I still treasure it though. I have a lot of records too…..and cd’s….but ever since Spotify came along I find myself listening to it the most. Do you also stream music? Or do you strictly listen to only records? Cheers ✌️🇨🇦
Yesterday sitting on the doorstep of my daughter's new home watching this episode on my phone. She gave me a five-star review for "uber" ride to the airport. I would have to say the records most valuable to me are ones with memories associated with them. Thanks for sharing.
Love watching your videos! Despite your lavalier mic taped to your shirt, your voice comes out so clear. I'm also looking forward to "Off The Wall" and your upcoming videos!
Lol. I look like a big dork. My microphone clip is broken and I haven't had time to replace it. It didn't help that I forgot to put the chord under my shirt. I'm just glad it worked. ♥️🤗 Thank you and have a great week.
@@MelindaMurphy It's all good. Content overrides dorkiness anytime. Be safe during hurricane season. We get a few close calls from hurricanes over the years here in Hawaii. Aloha!
Spinning the first record I'd protect...my Japanese blue triangle first press of Dark Side of the Moon! PS...hoping you'll be at the big record fair a week from Sunday. Meeting Melinda is on my bucket list, right after having fish and chips in a real British pub!
I sure hope I can go to the record fair. ❤️ That would be awesome. That would be an amazing version of Dark Side. 🔥 That's one record everyone should have an amazing press of. Thank you and enjoy your weekend. ❤️🤗
That WLP Led Zep IV is a stunner Melinda. The cover looks absolutely immaculate. You have some real treasures and I'm not surprised to see several the Van Halen titles in the mix! 😉 Good luck this hurricane season, Melinda. I lived in southeast Florida for 30 years and like you thought about this exact issue many, many times---What to do when a hurricane threatens. My house was in a flood zone and single story, so I bought a couple of heavy duty plastic cases that were water resistant, and when a storm threatened, I loaded my LPs in them and took them to some nearby temporary storage I'd rent on the second floor of one of those large "u-store it" type buildings that seemed pretty secure. I moved to California last year, so the dual threat of wildfires and earthquakes has required some rethinking of that strategy. As actually marked in my emergency "grab" list: Led Zep II, III, IV, WLPs, mono Axis Bold as Love WLP, first pressings of Nirvana - Nevermind, Here's Little Richard, Howlin Wolf - Moanin in the Moonlight, mono Are You Experienced, Queens of the Stone Age, S/T (green vinyl) and Songs for the Deaf (red vinyl), Charlie Parker - The Bird Blows the Blues (DLP-1), Velvet Underground & Nico (mono, torso cover, unpeeled), and a stereo pressing of Introducing the Beatles - VJ oval rainbow label. Very touching story about your mom, I'm sure you made her very proud.
You have some true treasures in your collection worthy of protecting. California and Florida are beautiful states but pose such great threats. Thankfully, I'm not in a flood zone and my records are on the second story of our house. But if something tremendous were to happen and we have a leaky roof, my records are vulnerable. Hopefully neither one of us have to deal with a worst case scenario. Thank you and enjoy your weekend. 🤗♥️
Great “In Case of Emergency” selections! Must saves for me would include S & G’s Bookends, Dylan’s Blonde On Blonde, The Stone’s Let It Bleed, Elton’s Tumbleweed Connection, and Marshall Crenshaw’s Field Day for starters with a sprinkling of Miles, Monk, Brubeck, Coltrane and Bill Evans from the jazz side of the house. Glad you guys have settled in. Now, as the Grateful Dead would say, “Crank up that old Victrola, put on your rocking shoes.”
I agree. All of those records are worth saving. I have a great first pressing of Blonde On Blonde that I wouldn't want anything to happen to as well. The jazz records are treasures as well. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Wow! So cool you have the History album on vinyl. I love it. Stranger in Moscow is one of my favorite songs by him. I remember when the double disc came out in 95. I had my mom take me to Best Buy to get it that very day. We went to my grandma's and I went up to my grandpa's music room in the attic and listened to it on his big awesome studio headphones.
That's a cool memory. I was personally very excited to get the new album and I was especially excited for the greatest hits disc. The booklet was cool as well. I'm going to play them today. 🤗❤️ Thank you and take care.
Since moving to Florida it is wise to do this. I also have tapes, stereo gear (all my high-end stuff), and about 50 records that I could not bare to see get wiped out in a Cat 4 or Cat 5 hurricane. Especially now that we paid off our house early to get out from under the horrendous wind policy we were expecting to pay this year... $11,400 (With a $5,000 deductible no less). Considering the national average for full home insurance averages $2,000, Florida is really sticking it to homeowners. So learn how to prep and bug out if needed. Cheers.
The insurance prices are definitely a huge problem right now. The insurance companies have had to pay out for so many disasters and they don't really want to provide insurance to Floridians anymore. We aren't in a flood zone and our house was built up to recent code for hurricanes so we aren't paying a huge amount for insurance. I hope somehow this problem gets resolved. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
@@MelindaMurphy Well, as soon as DeSantis is long gone and a Democrat Governor and Legislature takes over we may see some crackdowns on Insurance Price Gouging. Until then, Floridians are moving out of the state to get away from this nonsense.
@@AudioGuyBrianDenying medical care to trans folks and book banning are FAR more important priorities. Got to keep those other people in their place in the second class.
Love that T-shirt. Nice collection of saveable albums. As a fellow Floridian, welcome to Florida, I just finally got my first butcher after 58 years. 3rd state.
Thank you very much. I love Florida even though this has been a rough time for us. Lol. Congrats on the third state. What a cool Beatles album to own. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Yes, some records have to come with me no matter what. Highway 61 Revisited, Super Session, the 3 Linda Ronstadt Nelson Riddle lps, Hendrix 1st lp, Kind of Blue, David Crosby 1st solo, Grateful Dead Skull & Roses. None of these are hard to replace but I can't do without.
Great list. I found that Linda Ronstadt box set at a garage sale for one dollar. That might be the best dollar I ever spent. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
They wouldn't deliver our things without us paying at the time of delivery. What a frustrating experience. They will be getting extremely poor reviews that hopefully many people will read and think twice before hiring them. That's about all we can do. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Hi Melinda. Good idea about putting special albums aside, hopefully you'll never be put in that situation that you have to grab them. I have all the Beatle's british pressings as well as a second state butcher cover, so they would be on my 'grab" list. Such a nice story about your mom and the relationship to the Meet The Beatles lp. So glad that it brings back special memories for you.
It's great to have UK Beatles pressings. Hang on to those. ❤️ I hope to always have that Beatles record. I bet my mom was a lot of fun. Thank you and take care.
I love videos like this❤ edit: and ive dealt with hurricanes 🌀 all my life.you're safe melinda👍 oh i can onlynimagine what moving story you might tell.. ive seen it all. I hope yall are doing great 👌
I live in PA, after a tornado came within a few hundred yards of my house - never thought that would happen, emergency preparedness between fire and natural disaster became a big thought. I keep a "bug out bag" for essentials that are mission critical in my life. When it comes to music, if it were a fire and I could save 1 thing and trust me the collection I curated now makes it ever so difficult but if I could would be my Led Zeppelin 2008 Japanese mini CD box set. You look at the prices for a real one, this is an often knocked off set, they are insane. If I had time to save stuff it would be a mixture of box sets I would keep. Individual albums probably would be my Rolling Stones discography because I had purchased various copies in my travels throughout the world.
It's a good idea to be prepared. Every state has its threats. That Led Zeppelin CD set sounds amazing. ♥️🤗 Finding records while travelling is so much fun. I see a record and I can still remember where I bought it from. Thank you and take care.
I am so sorry about the trouble you had with your move. It makes me so sad to hear this and so angry that so many businesses operate this way and get away with it.
I know. The company was professional and impressive at first but once they had our furniture and personal belongings, it was like dealing with a completely different company. Unreal. I'm glad it's over. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Great choices to save if a hurricane is on the way. Lots of Beatles in there and love the Michael Jackson History. Finally just found a vinyl copy sealed last month. Bought the CD the first day also before he changed the lyrics. Hopefully, no hurricanes will head your way.
Yes, I forgot that he changed the lyrics. I have the original version on the CD and I forget which version my record is. 🤔 Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Another awesome video, Melinda! And many awesome albums too! I would definitely have those wrapped and ready to go in the event of a hurricane as well! It bugs me when I receive a high grade album off of eBay only for it to have that musty, basement-like odor to it, let alone severe water damage. There are many reasons why I would never live in Florida; north Idaho is bad enough due to the MISERABLE winter weather that can last up to 5 months! Makes me really miss Las Vegas, NV, despite the summer heat!
I guess every state has upsides and downsides. ❤️🤗 I really love living in our spot of Florida but hurricanes are definitely a fear. I will miss snow at Christmastime as well. Thank you and take care.
It is very interesting to hear your point on sentimental records. I have a worn ABBA greatest hits record that I remember playing from my earliest years but would be worthless on resale. My dad also signed a few of of his records and put a date such as Nov 1974.
Everyone put their name on records back then. I don't mind that especially when it isn't really big. Lol. My mom's Beatles album isn't worth anything but I love what it represents. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
Yes, it's been a rough period in our lives and the movers (who were paid to make our lives better) were a big part of the problem. Thank you and take care. ❤️
Pretty cool video here. Loved hearing the connection to those records. Being in Va I know the risks of Hurricanes too and it’s something I think about sometimes. May have to post my own list. Take care!
It gives me peace of mind to know that in an emergency I can grab these records quickly. It can't hurt to have these records all in one place. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
same news had a story about 20 yr aniv. of gaston ruining shockhoe bottom i had many records damaged sleeves mostly and some couldnt be saved isabel we knew was coming gaston was unexpected so ididnt move the records upstairs even though i live 20 miles west of the bottom had like 5 or 6 inches that night

@@MelindaMurphy It was controversial when it was released as some-many?-jazz fans accused him of selling out. Purists are such a pain sometimes! I loved it from the first listen...
by coicindence just now bbc muaic popped up fontaines cover of chet bakers lets get lost not a big fan of d.c. fontaines but cool.a current popular band did a cover ok i think i have the original 45 have to dig out
I love that you have Buckingham Nicks on your list! I have two copies and, while neither of them are promo copies, one of them belonged to my wife's biological Mother. The story is not the same as your "Meet the Beatles story," but close. My wife's Mom tragically died at a very young age when my wife was two years old...she was only 19 or 20. 😞My Father-in-law gave me a few of her records and all six would definitely be in my short stack in an emergency! I bought the second copy so I could be assured that both of my girls have that record in their collection when I'm gone. Great list!
I'm so sorry for your wife's loss. What a sad coincidence. My mom was only 2 years old when her mother died. My mom used to tear up because she didn't remember her mother. That's such a tragedy. I'm glad you have a few of her items to pass along. We know your mother-in-law had great taste in music. ❤️ Thank you for sharing this with me. Take care.
Great choices. Gotta say I was expecting your list to be the mostly valuable, dollar wise. I like that there were sentimental favorites in there. I have both of my parents albums and I often think about the kids they were when they bought them originally. My mom had the Patsy Cline album that was out when Patsy died, my mom clipped the article from the newspaper about the crash and taped it to the back of the album cover. The article is yellow and fragile with age, but it always makes me think about her being in high school and cutting this article out and taping it to the album to preserve it. The history that the album holds and everything that happened since that day she clipped it out.
I'm sure that was a very sad day for your mom. It affected her enough to cut out an article and keep it with the record. It's great that they still exist. Thank you for sharing that. Take care. 🤗❤️
I had to laugh to myself when I saw this. I live in New Orleans and when I evacuated for Katrina I left with some of my favorite music. You are not alone in being prepared. It's also a good thing to also have all your important papers in one easily accessible place for when you have to leave in a hurry.
I'm sorry you went through that. I watched the news coverage in horror during Hurricane Katrina. I couldn't believe what was happening. We hope nothing ever happens but I agree that it's nice to be prepared. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I have a Dinah Washington record that belonged to my mom before she got married. She also wrote her maiden name on it. My mom listened to Andy Williams and Tony Orlando when I was growing up, so finding a jazz record that she bought was really cool. It’s a really cool keepsake.😀
That Dinah Washington record is very special. ♥️ My mom had Tony Orlando as well. The Andy Williams Christmas album with the red cover is the one I listen to the most at Christmastime. Thank you and have a wonderful week. ♥️🤗
hope you film your entire collection for insurance purposes. A blessing and a curse all in one for us collectors for all near & dear to us. always good to see you
Hey Melinda. Sorry for all your moving woes. On the upside though... Great idea for a video. We should all have a just incase section. I've been buying vinyl for a long time and have a ton of OG pressings that mean the world to me and sound fantastic, Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. I also wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to the VC. I posted my first video about 14 days ago and gave a shout out to all the channels I'd been watching that were inspirational to me starting my own channel and you were one of them. So thanks for that. I'm looking forward to the Van Halen "Women And Children First" as well. I was lucky enough to see them on that tour, at the now defunct Cape Cod Coliseum. I also loved the story about you Mom's album. Look forward to your next post. Cheers. Bobby
God forbid you have to evacuate from a hurricane but it’s smart to have a plan in place! Hurricane season is coming up! You have so many great records in your collection so hopefully they are insured if they get damaged
Great video Melinda! So sorry for your mover situation, that’s awful. Hopefully you will be compensated! Anyway we have quite a few common “emergency records”. My Beatles box of UK OG/Early pressings would Definitely come with me! It took me a few years to acquire those. Same with my Led Zeppelin box and Pink Floyd Dark 30th. Totally agree! I thought for sure Duran Duran Decade would be one of them 😂. Only cuz it’s nearly impossible to find. I’d squeeze it in there since it’s paper thin, lol. Lookin forward to hearing the rest of the mover story. But!… Thank goodness you had the foresight to move your records yourself. Thanks for another great morning coffee video and have a great day
I definitely thought about showing the Duran Duran record. I decided to only show 20 for time reasons. That's definitely one of my rarest records and extremely cool. Let's hope neither of us ever have to evacuate our homes. I would want to save all of the records tbh. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Already getting your hurricane plans put together, I like that. Hard to know what part of the house is the safest. Sorry about the furniture. I had that issue also. On the plus side for me our place was smaller and we didn’t have room so let’s call that a blessing lol. We also lost some of our nice China which was disappointing. Glad it finally arrived so you can now sit down
It's funny Steve, I have yet to hear anyone say the moving process was easy and everything arrived safely. What a huge pain. I'm just glad it's over. I'm sad about the china and furniture but we had something even worse happen. I might have to share it because it's related to my music room. Thank you and take care.
I totally get it about sentimental value on anything much less a record...moms are special in so many ways. But the story and what your mom went through in life dragging that record along the way i totally get it and would do the same. One thing though...do you have or are you going to get some kind of container for your 'must keep' records so you can just grab the box and run if you have to? I hope so cause you have some great records in that list Melinda. As for the movers...i am glad your stuff arrived and hope that there is able to be some kind of relief for you guys as to damaged/broken items. Like moving isn't stressful enough by itself already ya know. It is always a great day seeing your videos and you always do such a great job in them🙂 Here's to hoping to you never having to ever grab and run with these records...let alone anything else in case of an emergency 🙂
Thank you so much for the kind words. ❤️ My mom never really hung on to anything so the fact that she kept that Beatles record says a lot about its meaning. I do have a record carrying case that I can slip the records in for safe keeping. However, it may not hold them all and I will probably need to seek out something else. Hopefully, it's just something that gives me peace of mind and not a true event. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend. ❤️🤗
Loved that you treasure your mums meet the beatles album , here in England it was called with the beatles i have my late mums copy along with hard days night and help all first uk pressing and all have my dear mums maiden name written on the vinyl label i played them to death as a kid and treasure them to this day , love your chanel respect from London England
That's a terrific combination of having highly sought after records and sentimental because they were your mom's and a part of your childhood. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Difficult exercise to choose one's emergency situation albums. I'm thinking in terms of what weights more, commercial value or music quality. Greetings from Chile and thanks for the fun videos. Last but not least, it's not usual to find a lady channel on vinyl records. Good to see it's an open club 😀
Thank you! It's an open club. The male record collectors have been so nice to me. 🤗❤️ Let's just hope neither of us have an emergency where our homes and record collections are in jeopardy. Thank you and take care.
You wouldn't save your original "Pet Sounds" mono album??? That surprises me. If there is a hurricane I'd hate for it to go floating down the Swanee river!! 😳
Sorry to hear about your ordeal with the movers. They really sound like an unsavory bunch. Hopefully you have some recourse for the property damage they caused. When you talked about moving to Florida, one of the first things I thought about was hurricanes. It's good that you have a plan to take favorites and difficult to replace records during an emergency. Of all the ones you showed, the Duke Ellington Anatomy of A Murder Soundtrack album really grabbed me. When I had to fumigate our home due to termites, we had to leave and our house was going to be unprotected and open to ventilate it after the fumigation was done. I had three boxes of records that I took with me to a hotel. Pink Floyd, The Doors, and so many others were in the boxes. Some were taken for the same reasons you would take yours. The few albums autographed by the artists were high on the take list. It looks like I finally got my refund for the fake MoFi record they sold to me. I haven't opened the envelope yet. It took forever and a day to get the refund, and the hoops that I had to jump through were really onerous. I hope that you guys get settled in your new home soon. 👍💖🎸😎
I'm glad your records were safe. The autographed albums would be very special and high on the list. I have a signed copy of Odyssey and Oracle and I would grab that one off the wall and bring it with me as well. I'm glad you got your refund. It did take a long time as all of that happened a couple of years ago. I think all of the legal issues kept things tied up. I had been wanting the Anatomy of a Murder soundtrack and had put the Music On Vinyl version in my cart several times but never went through with the purchase. I'm so glad I found this copy. The soundtrack is good and the movie is too. As far as the movers go, my husband wrote a scorching review and I will as well. It was a terrible experience and we are so glad that it's over. Never use Mayzlin Relocators. They are a horrible company. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Sorry to hear about your horrible move experience. Yrs ago my mom had a dramatic move where two of her Warner Bros cartoon cells and other pieces were stolen. I think everyone loses something on a move, hope all gets better. Oh and awesome albums, for sure those need rescuing. I’m jealous 😊
That's a sad story for you mom. It's infuriating. We honestly have no idea if we received everything or not. The movers in charge didn't keep a count or anything. We haven't noticed anything missing yet. We did receive someone else's wedding photos so we are going to ship them out. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I would save almost all of your selection plus "Forever Changes" by Love and "The Notorious Byrd Brothers" by The Byrds. Those two albums are indispensable for me. I was just a child when I got my first vinyl copies of these and, although I have bought the subsequent anniversary editions, I just love playing these UK pressings from the 60s. They are linked, similarly, to memories of my mother. On this particular day, she took me into the nearby shops of Woolwich (South London) so that I could spend my birthday money on albums. These were the two albums I got on that day. I was lucky to have parents who both loved music and who encouraged my love of music and record collecting. They even had a good quality hi-fi system that I could play them on!
Oh wow! What a fantastic memory. It's sad that places like Woolworths are long gone. They are really great albums. I have a pretty nice sounding reissue of Love "Forever Changes." It's a classic. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗

That's an incredible list and I'm so happy to see Van Halen as a part of it. 🤗❤️ Thank you for the kind compliment. I do love my new couch color as well. Take care.
Id hate to think about it, but I'd guess I'd push as many into a bedsheet I can manage and pull it along with me! We're all custodians of music (record collectors), because digital no matter how high is not the direct representation of the original music or "waveform" ! We're responsible for keeping the artists alive and hand it down to the next generation!😊
We do have homeowners insurance but it's not enough to cover the entire amount. I do have my collection on video and documented on Discogs. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
@@MelindaMurphy thanks for replying - likewise my home insurance including earthquake doesn’t cover my vinyl. in hindsight i wished i itemized every purchase in a spreadsheet - hopefully it will never be an issue.
Hello Melinda! That was a brilliant selection. We like the anecdotes you tell about them. Many of us have those for our precious records. I can think of a dozen on the top of my head. ”A” have all her records in one single crate (35+) , so she’s already prepared , hahaha. Take care. / A & R
You will probably never be in a situation where you need to grab your most prized records however, it's good to know what and where some of them are for peace of mind. I'm glad your wife's collection would be easy to grab. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
I have a thousand-ish since ditching some real duds, , but my original 2 or 3 copies of Let it Be, Frigid Pink, Live at the Cellar Door (Seldom Scene), CCR Cosmos Factory, Led Zep bootlegs, Horowtz anything, all my Led. Great channel!
I have a Frigid Pink album that I love. ❤️ Their version of House of the Rising Son is in my jukebox. Cosmos Factory is awesome. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Beautiful story about your mother. I have that rare KISS album. Gold! And the Van Halen.. Sorry to hear something was not right with the move. Hope it can be resolved. And great video! Take Care!
I should have bought the VH album when it came out back in 2012. I'm so glad they finished with a DLR album. Moving was horrible. I may have to share what happened because it involves my music room. 😳 Thank you and I hope you are in your new home soon. 🤗❤️ Take care.
We’ve lived in Southwest Florida (Bonita Springs) since 1987 and have not once evacuated during a hurricane. (Andrew went through just as we planted all our landscaping around the home we just built; only lost one palm tree.) We love the beauty and magnificent splendor of our summer storms! So don’t panic when all the weather geeks juice-up the panic!😉❤️🎶
I hope we are as fortunate as you have been. We were encouraged to evacuate a couple of years ago while on vacation and we (as tourists) thought it was the right thing to do. I do love the evening thunderstorms. I can definitely live with that. 🤗 Thank you and take care.
Hope you knocked on wood after you typed that. Law of averages says this peninsula is due for a hurricane. I don’t know how Florida has been so lucky, it’s crazy
@@Pluralofvinylisvinyls I wouldn’t exactly say we’ve been lucky: Andrew was a killer, as was Ian. But traditionally the west coast of Florida, especially the southern part where we live (with barrier islands as buffers) is safer. We live 1 mile from the coast, as the crow flies, but our backyard is a 172-acre nature preserve that gives us extra protection.
It depends on where you live I guess. It's nice to have all of the special records in one space. That way they can be retrieved quickly if a situation arrives. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Highlight of the week, a new video from Melinda 😎🥳 🥰😍❤💝 Some albums from my side: - Black Sabbath, Sabotage; I grew up listening to this music 🥸 - Kate Bush, The sensual world; Kate is the best storyteller ever and her music, simply magic 😍 - Kate Bush, Aerial; The masterpidce from the master, untouchable 🥰 - Leftfield, Leftism; It makes most other music seem boring 🥳 - Queen, A night at the opera; The best album ever 😍 - A star is born, soundtrack; Lady Gaga, I'll Never Love Again was the waltz when I got married 💙💛 WOW, You got your furniture, amazing 🥳😎🤗 With love from 🇳🇴
Wow! You definitely have to save the song you got married to. Romantic! ❤️ You remind me that I have a Black Sabbath album that still has the original poster in it. I better put that one in the emergency save pile. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend. ❤️🤗
Great choices for grab and go emergency albums!! Only thing that scares me about having a large collection myself in the event of a fire is the fact that it'd be one hell of a hot spot!!! My house would probably be a total loss if it went up in flames and my records caught fire!!
My original Duran Duran albums which I got around the time they were released (or a bit later). "Seven And The Ragged Tiger" was the first album I ever bought, while "Rio" was bought for me by my aunt when she was visiting us here in Brisbane - years later she died of cancer. Neither of the records might be in great condition, but they'll always have sentimental value for me.
They would be very sentimental to me as well. Your aunt sounds very cool. I'm sorry you lost her. ❤️I still love Duran Duran as well. Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
The story about your mom in her convertible is so cool. Perhaps buy a 2ndhand DeLorean equipped with a flux capacitor? Then you could meet her 😊 Preserving the music collection is one of the reasons I transitioned to digital, everything now sits on one harddrive backed up on another in another location. However, of the few thousand albums I had I keep about 100 because of the memories when I bought them. A special one is "Reach the Beach" by The Fixx which I bought on a short 4-day vacation in New York City. Not much beach there, but the record still reminds me of the day-long walks all through the city on my first and still only transatlantic trip.
I still need to get a copy of Reach the Beach. We all have records that have special memories. If only we could time travel. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Hi 👋 Melinda. I love Chet Baker. I own a copy of that album Chet Baker Sings , and i was listening to it last night. His vocals are the best , so soothing and mellow. I would have loved to have seen him live in his heyday. His trumpet is near perfection , I saw Miles Davis in concert in the 1980s, and he is one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time , but i personally prefer to listen to Chet's music over Miles. Hope you won't ever will need to grab those records Melinda in an emergency, but a good selection to take with you.
As someone who lost my records, well everything in hurricane Katrina (I was living in Gulfport MS at the time), I wish I had grabbed all my RUSH and Led Zeppelin records. In retrospect, it seems like a small thing now. If I were you, I'd grab that Beatles mono box as well, lol. Great video as always, hope you are able to get more settled soon.
I'm sorry you experienced that. I watched the coverage of Katrina in horror. I couldn't believe what was happening. It's a shame you lost those records. A lot was lost during that storm. The mono box set would be worth grabbing. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
I was in Cape Coral when Ian hit and lost power for 13 days. So if you don't have a "whole house" generator to run a/c there is the potential for continuous humidity inside the house. I would not let the albums just lean freely. Compact together so as to minimize the covers from "possibly" warping due to the humidity.
Hi everyone! I want to apologize for not replying to comments from my last video. I did read every comment and loved hearing from you. My week was spent unpacking and it was quite time consuming as you can imagine. Thank you for understanding and I look forward to hearing from you and replying this week. ❤️
No worries, but something did feel off!😂
Totally acceptable under your current circumstances.
As if the move & the delayed delivery wasn't enough; the damage takes it over the top.
Did you get your furniture yet?
You don't owe us anything, thank you for your enthusiasm and also your knowledge concerning vinyls.
We'll just love your videos and enjoy them and you as a person even more for it 🤩
There is such love in your voice when you get on to talking about your mum and your face completely transforms.
Awww. I do miss my mom and love my childhood memories. ❤️ Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
100% second that ❤️
Praying for you all, Melinda! May God keep you all safe and protected, throughout this horrendous situation! 🙏🙏🫤
Thank you so much. We are doing well with only minimal damage. ❤️ I appreciate your concern. Take care.
'Desire' is a banging album. Plus it came out the year I was born which is kind of cool...
Pretty cool video Melinda I never thought about this what would happen in an emergency.
Wall of records in background looks great! Looking forward to a full audio room tour in future!
Thank you so much for the amazing compliment. ❤️🤗 Take care.
The Rush albums, me and Philip are saving the Rush albums😂 Best, you guys take care.
Lol. I do love my Rush albums. I would want to save them all. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
You are very sweet. Thank you and may the Lord bless you as well. 🤗❤️
Thank you so much. Music and memories go hand in hand. ❤️🤗 I'm glad to have something special that belonged to my mom. Take care.
Thank you for telling me about the bookends mofi! Going to have to pick it up. Loooove your zombies and Beatles albums. Stay blessed Melinda.
Bookends is now shipping! I can't wait to hear it. ♥️🤗 Thank you and have a great week.
So lovely to hear your personal backstories. What an exciting new chapter in FLA. As a Yusef Lateef fan, great to see you'd take him along in an emergency. Thanks for sharing
That's an incredible album by Yusef Lateef. It's so beautiful. ❤️ Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
Wow, well thought out list, Melinda! I would have to sit down and really think about things, can't do it right now, but it's definitely something for the future....have a great week!
It's not easy. I would want to take most of my records. Lol. Thank you and have a great week. ♥️🤗
I agree. I get rid of anything I even suspect is made out of PVC. It can ruin records. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
You're exactly right.
@@MelindaMurphy The box sits a few feet away. Covers destroyed. Most records with bad mold. I've been replacing them here and there.
All just great, and wonderful stories behind many. Thanks, and I hope a hurricane never passes your way. Cheers
Thank you! I hope it never happens as well. Take care. ❤️🤗
I agree with you Melinda, certain albums just bring back great memories for me. I would grab those first. I get it.
I love the rare records as well as the sentimental ones. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
Take care. 🤗❤️
Glas seeing you back beautiful melinda. nice seeing your vinyl collection being in your new home great video as always 👍
Thank you very much. ❤️🤗
@@MelindaMurphy no problem 😊
I am so sorry you lost your dad at such a young age.
Great choices. Odessey and Oracle in particular - it's such a gem.
It's my favorite album. ♥️ Thank you and take care. 🤗
Cheers ✌️🇨🇦
My husband streams music a lot but I mostly stick to my records.
Any Led Zeppelin promo copy would be an amazing find. 😃 Thank you and take care.
Thank you. For an interesting story and an interesting video!
Thank you very much. ❤️🤗
Yesterday sitting on the doorstep of my daughter's new home watching this episode on my phone. She gave me a five-star review for "uber" ride to the airport. I would have to say the records most valuable to me are ones with memories associated with them. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome! It sounds like you are a very loving dad. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
another great collection and video my friend
Thank you! Have a great weekend!
Aloha!
Your love for your mother is beautiful. Van Halen WACF is also my favourite album M by them. Love from Scotland 🏴
Thank you for the kind words. 🤗❤️ I do love WACF. I can't wait for that One Step to come out. Take care.
Good luck this hurricane season, Melinda.
Important point . I keep the special albums in a hand made box for security. Thanks again . Best wishes 😊😊😊
That's a great idea. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
Thats a very good idea! And I really hope you held back any balance due to the moving company!
I hope to always have that Beatles record. I bet my mom was a lot of fun. Thank you and take care.
I love videos like this❤ edit: and ive dealt with hurricanes 🌀 all my life.you're safe melinda👍 oh i can onlynimagine what moving story you might tell.. ive seen it all. I hope yall are doing great 👌
I hope so. I would hate for something to happen to my home. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy I bet you are so glad you decided to move your records yourself. Can you imagine if this company had done so? Yeesh.
Thanks for the interesting video! Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon is a real masterpiece.
I agree. That's one of my most played records. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
I’m so sorry to hear that yall had more trouble with the move.
Yes, it's been a rough period in our lives and the movers (who were paid to make our lives better) were a big part of the problem. Thank you and take care. ❤️
Some very touching memories attached to why you would grab hold of the ICE copies - thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you very much. ❤️🤗

I agree. That record brings a smile to my face. ❤️ She was a strong woman. Thank you and take care.
Cool vid.
You made me smile with The Chet Baker album. I got it when it was first released.
It's one of my favorite jazz records. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
serious collection of prize records! And that's a great plan to put them together like that
Thank you very much. 🤗❤️
hope you film your entire collection for insurance purposes. A blessing and a curse all in one for us collectors for all near & dear to us. always good to see you
Thank you very much. Yes, my collection is on video and on Discogs. Hopefully, I will never need it. ❤️🤗 Thank you and take care.
Cheers. Bobby
Thank you for the kind words. I wish I had been able to see VH on that tour. I look forward to hearing the One Step. Take care. ❤️🤗
@@MelindaMurphy You're welcome. Yeah, they were amazing. Watching Eddie's solo was mind blowing. Cheers
God forbid you have to evacuate from a hurricane but it’s smart to have a plan in place! Hurricane season is coming up! You have so many great records in your collection so hopefully they are insured if they get damaged
Hopefully, we will never need to evacuate. If it happens, I am ready. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
It is always a great day seeing your videos and you always do such a great job in them🙂
Here's to hoping to you never having to ever grab and run with these records...let alone anything else in case of an emergency 🙂
I'm glad you mentioned it. I had honestly overlooked it. I will be adding that one to the pile. Thank you and take care.
what a great concept and itsn.t the same as my 10 best record or something like that
I agree. This is more about sentimental and rare records that I would hate to lose. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
Heading to Tampa/ Anna Marie Island tomorrow. Hopefully will be greeted with nice weather and some scores. Wow on the Zeppelin.
I hope you find some amazing music. Have fun. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
@@MelindaMurphy Sure, you're welcome and all the best to you and your family. 👍👍👍
Thanks for another great video! Waiting for the lawsuit video against the moving company.
Lol. That's not going to happen but they are going to get a terrible review. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
I’d Firsure grab that mono box set behind your left shoulder !!
Keep up the great work
Love the channel , regards , Lorenz your northern neighbour 🇨🇦
I agree, I would probably want to grab that Beatles mono box set. ❤️ Thank you and take care.
@MelindaMurphy haha. Woolwich is a place, Woolworths was a shop. Easy mistake to make.🤣
Your loveseat is a great shade of Ruby - looks great - so glad you finally got your furniture - how dare they take 4 weeks and deliver with broken stuff? Can't wait to see the next video and God forbid any hurricanes should come your way - here's my SAVE 10 LPs:
1. The Beatles - Yellow Submarine Songtrack
2. Kate Bush - Never For Ever
3. Public Image Ltd. - Second Edition
4. Jimi Hendrix - First Rays Of The New Rising Sun
5. Elvis Presley - 50,000 Fans Can't Be Wrong!
6. Van Halen - 1984
7. Blondie - Eat To The Beat
8. Pat Benatar - Precious Time
9. The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
10. Elvis Costello - Get Happy!
These records give me the most pleasure and the best memories - the soundtrack of my life - Great video Melinda❤See You next week!
I have this stack of records but would want to bring them all. Hopefully, it will never come to this. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
Your collection is simply fantastic 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you very much. 🤗❤️
I love the Zombies and you have the best album! Nice
It's an incredible record. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗
how do you insure your collection? does house insurance covers it? do you have to itemize every record?
We do have homeowners insurance but it's not enough to cover the entire amount. I do have my collection on video and documented on Discogs. Thank you and take care. 🤗❤️
@@MelindaMurphy thanks for replying - likewise my home insurance including earthquake doesn’t cover my vinyl. in hindsight i wished i itemized every purchase in a spreadsheet - hopefully it will never be an issue.
That Columbia promo 6 eye is very cool. I have never seen one before.
I never see them out and about. When I found this one, I knew I had to buy it. It was also a record I was wanting anyway. Thank you and take care. 😃❤️

I should have bought the VH album when it came out back in 2012. I'm so glad they finished with a DLR album.
Moving was horrible. I may have to share what happened because it involves my music room. 😳
Thank you and I hope you are in your new home soon.
Enjoyed your video. You made me think i should set aside those, “must save” albums.
It depends on where you live I guess. It's nice to have all of the special records in one space. That way they can be retrieved quickly if a situation arrives. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗

Highlight of the week, a new video from Melinda 😎🥳 🥰😍❤💝
Some albums from my side:
- Black Sabbath, Sabotage; I grew up listening to this music 🥸
- Kate Bush, The sensual world; Kate is the best storyteller ever and her music, simply magic 😍
- Kate Bush, Aerial; The masterpidce from the master, untouchable 🥰
- Leftfield, Leftism; It makes most other music seem boring 🥳
- Queen, A night at the opera; The best album ever 😍
- A star is born, soundtrack; Lady Gaga, I'll Never Love Again was the waltz when I got married 💙💛
WOW, You got your furniture, amazing 🥳😎🤗

Great choices for grab and go emergency albums!! Only thing that scares me about having a large collection myself in the event of a fire is the fact that it'd be one hell of a hot spot!!! My house would probably be a total loss if it went up in flames and my records caught fire!!
I agree. This much vinyl would be very dangerous in a fire. Thank you and have a great week. ♥️🤗
What a great video have a wonderful day melinda also I am going to college in Canada where I live in ❤😊
I hope you have a wonderful experience in college. ♥️🤗 Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
Is the B.- Nicks a WLP? I have a sealed promo copy with the press write-up covering the front cover. I don't want to open it to find out.
My label is Polydor with the red orange label. You have a very cool record. Thank you and enjoy your week. 🤗♥️
The story about your mom in her convertible is so cool. Perhaps buy a 2ndhand DeLorean equipped with a flux capacitor? Then you could meet her 😊
Preserving the music collection is one of the reasons I transitioned to digital, everything now sits on one harddrive backed up on another in another location.
@@MelindaMurphy I hope you can find a copy. Especially the track "Opinions" will shine in your new music room 🙂

I agree. I'm a big fan of his simple yet genuine singing style. ❤️ He was a true talent. Thank you and take care.
Great video Melinda!
Thank you! I hope all is well in KY. ♥️
The album “Bad” does not get the flowers it deserves. It’s unfortunate, it’s got tons of his biggest and largest songs, nearly most the album.
That's a great album as well. MJ was really on a roll back then. I wish he was still around making music. Thank you and take care. ❤️🤗

@@marktait2371 All of my stuff was submerged for about 12 hours, so no saving anything. We had a ground floor apartment.
Another Hurricane (Milton) coming Melinda so be safe and I hope you are not in its path and you won't need to grab your emergency batch of records!
Thank you very much. We should be ok but we are getting prepared. Take care.
Thank you for the tip. We do have a generator but I'm not sure it would run the entire house. Take care. 🤗❤️
