Very nice collection purchase, really nice cards! I like that Warren Spahn on that 61 Fleer set, thanks for sharing and have a great rest of your weekend!
Always cool to have the story of the collection behind it. Awesome to see you flip through. Some really nice ones in there for sure! That Kaline is hilarious!
Great video and Fantastic pickups. Such great players. The Jim Brown cards were my favorites. Big Congrats on the great additions and thanks for sharing.
Hey Greg! Apologies it took so long to watch this. I wanted to make sure I had the attention to watch. I love those ‘62 Topps football. I actually just bought the Doug Atkins as well. The ‘56 Erskine looks really sharp. As did the ‘61 Fleer Spahn. Bummer the Kaline had writing on it. Interesting how few Tigers cards there were for him living in Detroit. Adds to the fun of the collection. Looking forward to your run on Maris. This was great Greg! I really enjoyed seeing these again.
I was thinking the same thing about the lack of Tigers. Never expected to have this many vintage football cards. Happy to them as part of my collection. Thanks Andy, I always appreciate your thoughts.
Man those ‘62 topps football cards are beauties. Awesome Duke Snider and Nellie Fox. Love that ‘63 fleer set and especially that sweet Spahn (I’ve tried unsuccessfully for a couple years now to pick up the Mays in that set). That Maris is fantastic and the brooks Robinson and Musial and sweet Elston Howard. Outstanding haul and that’s just part 1.
Gave a video like. Nice vintage football. Great '64 Mathews and '60 Pinson cards. Nice Bart Starr cards. Gino fought in the battle of the bulge, very cool card. Cool Jim Brown.
Hi Greg, Very nice lot. The football card is a 1962 Fleer (the one featuring Charlie Hennigan). That is an AFL-only issue. The black-bordered cards are 1962 Topps, which is an NFL-only issue. The cards with the large football are 1960 Topps, also an NFL-only issue. Towards the end, you showed cards with stars around the photo and a colored background. Those are 1964 Topps, which is an AFL-only issue. The cards of Roosevelt Grier and Mike McCormack are 1959 Topps. The cards with Huff and Bobby Layne are 1961 Topps, a combined AFL and NFL issue. The ones toward the end with Dick Lane and Dan Lewis are 1963 Topps, an NFL-only issue. The AFL started in 1960. They had their own sets in 1960 Fleer, 1962 Fleer, 1963 Fleer, and 1964-1967 Topps. The NFL had its own sets in 1960 Topps, 1962-1963 Topps, and then 1964-1967 Philadelphia Trading Gum. The leagues were combined in 1961 Topps, 1961 Fleer, and then 1968-1969 Topps. After that, the AFL and NFL merged in 1970 to form the league you see today. Enjoy the cards!
Thank you sir for all the information, I really appreciate it. That will definitely help me out. Fortunate to be able to pick something like this collection up.
Cool of you to pick up the brother’s collection from your co-worker. Sorry to hear only 5-10 tiger cards but good to hear you need them all. Def can’t help you with the vintage football but those 63 fleer baseball cards are a nice start to building that set. Thank you for sharing.
I am thinking about going for the Fleer set now after I realized how small the set is. It would have been nice to have more Tigers but I am not going to complain. Very happy to have this collection. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Really like the LAPD Dodgers cards Greg. The 59 Brooks Robinson, Robin Roberts Al Kaline. Duke Snider,Cark Erskine, Nellie Fox on the 56 Topps. Those Fleers are great some serious star power. Seen a 58 Jim Landis. He had multiple all stars games and a bunch of gold gloves. Very overlooked player. Bill White might sneak into HOF. 64 Matthews. Bob Cerv..Nebraska guy. 63 Maris is a great one. Probably a top 3 favorite of his for me. Lots of beautiful cards. Enjoyed Greg.
I appreciate all the feedback and information. I am excited and fortunate to have so many great cards. The meaning/where this collection came from is also special to me. The Snider and Maris are two great cards and very happy to have both of those.
