yes vanessa, i agree with you, this is a very beautiful place to camp. i love that, what you said....."when i close my eyes it feels like springtime" very poetic, some times you say the most beautiful things. a hot tent would be great about now....maybe another time you could just load all your supplies, and a hot tent onto a sled, and pull everything in with you, i think it would slide very well on the snow, don't you?

So many amazing vistas you captured on your hike into camp ! About a decade worth of beautiful calendar, I think. How you're able to prepare better, crispier chips at a mountain lake in Winter than I can in my own kitchen I'll never know. Wear gloves on camera once in a while (so we don't worry) and stay safe out there !

Hi Vanessa -- The dry, cracking open lips we refer to as being "chapped", thus the name of a popular lip balm "Chap Stick". So many people mention your hands. I found half-finger wool gloves inside mittens to be one good solution. The outer mittens hold the warmth, and the half finger wool gloves keep the hands from losing heat too quickly while offering bare finger tips for higher dexterity. Schnitzel and potatos looked GREAT! Now I have to go to my favorite Bavarian restaurant, as that is the only place I have found good schnitzel here. Stay warm! Best from Texas, Michael

Your video Vanessa is a wonderful statement for the Austrian winter countryside , you made a couple of good decisions in not going through a snow blanketed forest and not crossing the snow covered lake with the ice underneath which could have been life threatening you done great , your meal Pomme Frites is basically what we call Chips and Schnitzel is what we call Pan friters which are made from cornbeef or spam , your meal was something like our English Fish and Chips, nice video . Forgive me if you have already received an answer to the tree question at 10:25. Currently at 427 comments, I can't read them all to see. In The States we call that "Burl Wood." It is a type of tree cancer in that it is an overproduction of cells; a reaction to injury or fungus. That part can be beautiful for tobacco pipes and other wood crafts; ugly on the outside but, beautiful on the inside. I love your channel and tell my friends about it all the time. As far as being famous and people criticizing you; understand that today people hate success. You are a climbing star in our community. That may put some in fear. I will always watch your work. I know it isn't easy to shoot a video and put it out there. I tried it; I was horrible at it. You have my respect and my best wishes. Your videos show me a world I will never see where I live. Hello my awesome friend! I am so sorry that I missed the premier, I just now have had time to sit down and catch up on all I have missed. Awesome video for sure and I am now about to watch your part 2 vid. About the tree pears, I don't know why either about why that happens but that happens to both spruce and pine here, just to clarify though, the only spruce we have is the ones that we have ordered and have had sent to us and then we plant them, and too there are only a few places where they will actually grow here, out where I do my videos they can't grow however here in my back yard, they grow just fine. Strange too since the two places are not that far from one another lol anyways though, on the bottom branches, the ones that seem to die off naturally, I cut them off and process the tree pears for fat wood and they work great, I also make tea from them, mix some honey in it and wow that is so tasty :) and healthy! Plenty of vitamin C :) also I can't pronounce or even begin to write what you had for dinner but it looked to me like a pork fritter and fries :) which is a favorite of mine, and most around here would call your fries burnt however not me lol I love them that way! Well I am off to watch your next one! God bless my friend, if there is any way in the future that you and I can make a video together, I would really love that :) you really know your stuff and your love for nature is awesome :) Nature, it does provide if one lets it :)

The bulge on the limb is called a gall. A worm bores into the limb to lay its eggs. Then leaves and the tree tries to cover them. It can also be caused by a bacteria invasion at a wound and again the tree tries to cover it and keep it from growing . Thanks again for this Vanessa.

Hi Vanessa. Beautiful place there, reminds me of my own backyard. Nice spot you chose to camp overnight. Wow, Schnitzel and fries for supper out doors, what could be nicer. I am very familiar with Schnitzel, I remember when I was younger My Mom would cook Schnitzel and homemade fries on a regular basis, mmmmmmmmmm. I think you could maybe compare to a breaded pork cutlet, for the folks from N. America. But I believe Veal was sometimes used. Wow those fries sound crunchy. yes vanessa, i agree with you, this is a very beautiful place to camp. i love that, what you said....."when i close my eyes it feels like springtime" very poetic, some times you say the most beautiful things. a hot tent would be great about now....maybe another time you could just load all your supplies, and a hot tent onto a sled, and pull everything in with you, i think it would slide very well on the snow, don't you?

So many amazing vistas you captured on your hike into camp ! About a decade worth of beautiful calendar, I think. How you're able to prepare better, crispier chips at a mountain lake in Winter than I can in my own kitchen I'll never know. Wear gloves on camera once in a while (so we don't worry) and stay safe out there !

Hi Vanessa -- The dry, cracking open lips we refer to as being "chapped", thus the name of a popular lip balm "Chap Stick".
So many people mention your hands. I found half-finger wool gloves inside mittens to be one good solution. The outer mittens hold the warmth, and the half finger wool gloves keep the hands from losing heat too quickly while offering bare finger tips for higher dexterity.
Schnitzel and potatos looked GREAT! Now I have to go to my favorite Bavarian restaurant, as that is the only place I have found good schnitzel here.

Your video Vanessa is a wonderful statement for the Austrian winter countryside , you made a couple of good decisions in not going through a snow blanketed forest and not crossing the snow covered lake with the ice underneath which could have been life threatening you done great , your meal Pomme Frites is basically what we call Chips and Schnitzel is what we call Pan friters which are made from cornbeef or spam , your meal was something like our English Fish and Chips, nice video .

Forgive me if you have already received an answer to the tree question at 10:25. Currently at 427 comments, I can't read them all to see. In The States we call that "Burl Wood." It is a type of tree cancer in that it is an overproduction of cells; a reaction to injury or fungus. That part can be beautiful for tobacco pipes and other wood crafts; ugly on the outside but, beautiful on the inside. I love your channel and tell my friends about it all the time. As far as being famous and people criticizing you; understand that today people hate success. You are a climbing star in our community. That may put some in fear. I will always watch your work. I know it isn't easy to shoot a video and put it out there. I tried it; I was horrible at it. You have my respect and my best wishes. Your videos show me a world I will never see where I live. Hello my awesome friend! I am so sorry that I missed the premier, I just now have had time to sit down and catch up on all I have missed. Awesome video for sure and I am now about to watch your part 2 vid. About the tree pears, I don't know why either about why that happens but that happens to both spruce and pine here, just to clarify though, the only spruce we have is the ones that we have ordered and have had sent to us and then we plant them, and too there are only a few places where they will actually grow here, out where I do my videos they can't grow however here in my back yard, they grow just fine. Strange too since the two places are not that far from one another lol anyways though, on the bottom branches, the ones that seem to die off naturally, I cut them off and process the tree pears for fat wood and they work great, I also make tea from them, mix some honey in it and wow that is so tasty :) and healthy! Plenty of vitamin C :) also I can't pronounce or even begin to write what you had for dinner but it looked to me like a pork fritter and fries :) which is a favorite of mine, and most around here would call your fries burnt however not me lol I love them that way! Well I am off to watch your next one! God bless my friend, if there is any way in the future that you and I can make a video together, I would really love that :) you really know your stuff and your love for nature is awesome :) Nature, it does provide if one lets it :)

The bulge on the limb is called a gall. A worm bores into the limb to lay its eggs. Then leaves and the tree tries to cover them. It can also be caused by a bacteria invasion at a wound and again the tree tries to cover it and keep it from growing . Thanks again for this Vanessa.

Hi Vanessa. Beautiful place there, reminds me of my own backyard. Nice spot you chose to camp overnight. Wow, Schnitzel and fries for supper out doors, what could be nicer. I am very familiar with Schnitzel, I remember when I was younger My Mom would cook Schnitzel and homemade fries on a regular basis, mmmmmmmmmm. I think you could maybe compare to a breaded pork cutlet, for the folks from N. America. But I believe Veal was sometimes used. Wow those fries sound crunchy.
