    We found it easier to start with a packaged battle deck (they are pretty cheap compared to other options) and add cards either from our collection or buy individual cards to modify the decks. Having a strong base to start with is important, especially for players who are new.

      I like the idea of modifying a preexisting deck to make it work for you!

      Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! The deck building aspect definitely didn't go the way I hoped it would, but it's been fun exploring deck options with limited cards!

    Fun video! I got into pokemon mostly to play. And my helpful tip for anyone starting is to buy bulk from other collectors. They even have a lot of rares in theres too

      @BadLuckBrettTCG  4 місяці тому

      A lot of people will sort through their bulk if they like to sell singles or playable cards, but it's a cheap way to get multiples of the same cards!

    I started buy packs recently for nostalgias sake, looking for Scyther. I got him and now I want to give the tcg a try.
    It’s a bit overwhelming, but there’s a charm to what you did and I started sorting the packs I have purchased (14, not including a few Japanese packs) and now I’m thinking about getting a trainer box just to round it out. Thanks for this video!

      Starting out is the hardest part man. Keep on building up your collection, and look online for some basic decks. The Pokemon TCG live app is also a great space to learn rules, build decks, and practice against different opponents!

    I for sure agree that getting an etb is the way to go when it comes to starting to play the actual game. Plus you’ll never know what you are going to pull from the packs.

    I'd love to see more products like what they do with Build and Battle, where they just give you a base and then you gotta do the rest.
    I guess that's just the game in general, lol

      @BadLuckBrettTCG  Місяць тому

      Build and battle decks aren't a bad way to build up a decent base for a deck! Just figuring out where to take the deck from that stage would be a challenge, especially for beginners with limited cars choices!

    i recently bought lost origin build and battle deck because i loved the idea of the lost zone but non of the cards did anything with the lost zone, if you would be able to help build it would be amazing

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG
      @BadLuckBrettTCG  22 дні тому +1

      I love lost zone decks. Honestly, I would consider using TCGplayer to order sets of cards like comfey, colress's experiment, mirage gate, cramorant, etc...
      They're all pretty cheap cards, and Lost Origin isn't so easy to find sometimes for cheap, so buying the cards is definitely the most efficient way to build the deck!

    Is it allowed to build a deck from different series of pokemon cards?

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG
      @BadLuckBrettTCG  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm not sure what you mean by series. If you're referring to each set (like Paldea Evolved or Obsidian Flames) then yes, you can absolutely build decks using cards from various sets!
      If you mean different generations of cards, (scarlet and violet, sword and shield, sun and moon) then it varies. If you wanted to participate in official tournaments, you can only use cards in the current format (f, g, h) which you can only find in the most recent generations of cards. Hope this helps!

    So I bought a silver tempest elite trainer box as u suggest here.
    I would like to know what could be a good second purchase. I'm honestly kinda lost how to proceed here

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG
      @BadLuckBrettTCG  6 місяців тому +1

      It depends! Silver Tempest pairs well with other Sword and Shield sets like Lost Origin or Crown Zenith, or just more Silver Tempest. Scarlet and Violet base would help with useful trainer cards you won't find in those sets. It also depends on what you're looking for, and what you like/want to play with!

      @@BadLuckBrettTCG tbh I didnt expect this to be so confusing (at least for me lol)
      Im looking to just have casual fun for now with some homies and collect cool cards I pull out on the sides
      Sorry bout these noobish questions but if u could suggest me one specific product to buy (Ive seen some call with "builds" ready to play? ) what would it be?

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG
      @BadLuckBrettTCG  6 місяців тому +1

      @@joz9540 battle decks are a great place to start with learning the game and deck structure. If you're looking to rip packs and use your cards to build decks, the scarlet and violet era is more likely to set you up with relevant cards and powerful pokemon. Paldean Fates and anything newer are good sets to build a playable collection.

    Why does some of the packs don't have a code card? Is there a possibility that it was opened and sealed back?

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG
      @BadLuckBrettTCG  4 місяці тому

      It's still a mystery to me. I bought the box in person from a local game store, so I doubt it. I also think people are more likely to reseal $500+ products instead of $40 boxes that are easy to find!

    I've been collecting Pokemon cards for about 3 years, mainly for the art work. It might be fun too play. But, like you said, there is really know information on how too for beginners. No offense, but this video doesn't help. You need to start with the basic, first. I really don't get what you're saying .

    • @BadLuckBrettTCG

      No offense taken, and I get your perspective. I use general terms to simplify my explanations, but I could have elaborated more on what better examples are and why they work. For what it's worth, I am working on an upgraded version of this video where I work out some of the kinks I've discovered since publishing this video!

      Best way to learn to play is to download and play the game… Pokémon tcg live… it’s mobile… other than that battle academy has I think 3 premade decks.. 2 of which are numbered for a step by step play of the game.. just read the directions.. but honestly the monile game has it all
