Got this yesterday and played in VR. It's very faithful to the Amiga original. First thing I did was ground my carrier on a sandbar while distracted elsewhere, same as I did my first time out back in 1990!
I really liked the original game, quite surprised to see this made. Also surprised Microprose is back in a meaningful way. I guess the next job is to talk Geoff into Stunt Car racer 2 and The Sentinel V2.
Great to see you guys back on the scene, last time I played carrier command I was about 8 years old on Amiga. CC2 is excellent and I am sure it will get better and better.
GAEA mission was shit and great. It was tons of fun but the bugs the ai blew but I can confirm that the gaea mission of full send it damm the torpedoes works in this game
I remember getting my carrier stuck in Gaea mission cause it didn't properly tell me hlw to refuel my carrier. Refunded it then few months/weeks/years later gave a second chance, figured it out, and proceeded to beat the game. Loved it though. Hope this comes to consoles as well. Not sure I agree with the StormWorks art style for it... But id still give it a try none the less
I never preorder games.....well........almost never. For Microprose!!!! From the golden age of PC gaming and my youth, I'll buy pretty much anything they put out. My all time favorite publisher and it looks like they're picking up right where they left off. Fantastic! I freely admit my "fanboy" status for Microprose! Please DO DARKLANDS!!!!! OH GOD, please hear my prayer! (......errr....and you software devs at microprose too) Everyone; if you haven't tried Darklands from Microprose; you haven't played a real CRPG yet! Would love to see that game updated/remade.
You Sir are a genius! Darklands, the best cRPG of the 90s! Just a graphic upgrade and interface change would be enough for me, but I think modern Microprose would be tempted to dumb it down...
@@gamingtonight1526 Oh God, Please, No!!!!! I completely agree with "update engine/interface" but leave everything else alone, except maybe to add more quests types and dialogue choices. But yeah, Darklands 2021; I've bought the game 5 times, including the day it launched (I still have my box, maps a 5 1/4 in floppies) I would buy it again and pay full price for it, as well.
I dream of Silent Service 3, I always liked its approach to simulation better than the Silent Hunter games. SS2 but with modern (or even just better) graphics would be great.
MicroBros, I just bought your game on sale. I'm really enjoying it, I shouldn't be playin' vidya, but a good little 20 minute sit down here and there has been quite nice.
I'm curious as to why do the carriers lack catapults (or ramps) and traps, similarly why do the UAVs lack CATOBAR/STOBAR landing gear with arresting hook Just one detail, but it's interesting to know
Me too, I just reached 40 hours and I just like to play the game in creative, the amount of different ways you can choose to attack islands is just so fun
I so want to Get into this game.....like really badly, but I'm struggling. I have seen a multilayer gameplay video and that looked awesome! So is it necessary to have mp instead of single perhaps??
Single player is great if you like strategy and coordinating things on your own, if not then I recommend getting on the micro prose discord and finding one of the many groups who are playing out of there
*-I'm just gonna say:* Add a way to move or *push vehicles that are stuck on the Carrier Deck!* please, Helicopters and Planes get bugged on the deck and there's no way to push them inside the hanger, or at least to the sea so you lose them but at least free the runway. -Also the bugs from the Demo got carried over the release, wich alarms me and my friends, wich didn't buy the game after watching another clear premature release, without taking into account the huge wave of bugs and concerns shown by the players, but taking advantage on the Hype and Nostalgia. *Hope the Problems with CC2 are not ignored,* that Bugs and Missing/Not Working Features become fixed, working and added respectively, and the *Price* comes Down to a *Realistic and Reasonable Number*
Also i love what's been put together, a great example of a Dev Team who worked hard, on something they love, but the People in charge of managing the release and the game, need a good shake to wake up and do their work correctly, don't patch a few things and move on after release, like most Companies do these Days. We began to show that we are not tolerating such things even from Games/Franchises/Titles that we want or like anymore, we won't take that anymore, and won't spend money on such Places where we are not taken into account and only our money leaving our accounts matters.
Any chance of this coming to consoles? I played Carrier Command: Gaea mission on my Xbox 360 some years ago and so id love to see if the game series has improved since then. Course the art style with the vehicles has defiantly changed.... Not sure how much better i like that tho... Mostly looks too much like storm works.
Played the demo, watched the vids. Still cant work out what the game experience is. Mp? what are the objectives? what will the mp gameplay experience be?
Objective is to capture islands and to kill the enemy carrier. In multiplayer, a human could take the place of the enemy carrier instead of the CPU. I played with my buddies last night and had a good time delegating responsibility across navigation, flight operations, and fire support.
@@TastelessMax Ok, but when playing the demo, I didnt get the inoression that the enemy puts up much of a fight. And where exactly is the strategy /tactics involved?
@@23strawbale the Islands that are Red are "neutral/will fight anyone" as far as I can tell and have 3 different difficulty levels. The enemy carrier starts at the opposite corner as you, and for me was a yellow color. You could also set up a custom game with increased difficulty as well. Strategy and Tactics comes to personal preference imo. I like scouting out the area with a high altitude Albatross before moving closer and using the razorback helicopters to cover an advance of Seal's with 30mm. Then move them through the island and bring in more air support as needed. Not to mention logistics and ensuring you have adequate supplies to engage further islands/hostiles.
Looks like fun but considering it looks to lack some of the 'pizazz' and functionality of other modern games, I am not so sure that at $55AUS it is worth it. I'll wait a while to see how it progresses.
I know this is just the smug old git in me but all the "oooh looks so old school" comments crack me up. Gaea Mission was a mediocre reboot (was OK though). Atari ST original here
i can't convice my friends to buy it and honestly I don't blame them. This game looks like it's in early access, yet they charge the price of a finished game!
It looks awful, way to much bloom and glare, like why do you need glaring trails that give away your position when in a stealth aircraft? Nope I'll give this a thumbs down. And before you newbies start commenting I played Microprose Games before you was born (almost). Seems MP are pandering to the "ooh" and "ahh" crowd. Nope a defiant thumbs down.
The light blue color is ugly, please change to urban grey camouflage paints on all aircraft, tanks, chopper and the carrier itself if Microprose wanted futuristic. The tank with 4 inverted tracks is ugly & impractical. If it's a small to medium sized drone tank, just 2 main tracks would do and it should have at least sloped low silhouette turret armor.
I love how the cockpit displays use icons and fonts that look like they were copied from the 16 bit versions.
Didn't expect you here!
Same, didn't expect to see you here either.
If Scott approves it must be a good game!
I guess, no one expected you here :)
There similar to stormwork's as the devs of it made this
Oh man. This one looks so cozy the old school way yet clean, stylish and elegant.

Game of the year? LOL
Highfleet is admittedly the only game I have played by Microprose, but it has set an *ahem* atmospherically high bar.
Best game if you have friends 😔

X-com and Mechcommander! I spent hundreds of hours on these as a kid. Microprose can take all my money!
MicroProse out here quietly being an absolute *stalwart* of gaming
True OG's ❤❤❤
Loving the Blade Runner-esque soundtrack to this trailer, so epic!
I never buy games on release but this one got my cash already thanks guys looks and plays great
MicroProse?!
You guys need to reclaim X-COM! Would love to see it made with visuals like this
yes, modern xcoms - piece of shit.
Having flashbacks to playing hundreds of hours of F-19 Stealth Fighter, oh man
I loved that game on my amiga 600
whats the name of that background music
I had the original Carrier Command on a 128K Spectrum, loved it.

MicroProse is back!! \m/
Carrier Command 1 was such a funny little I.P. so I am glad to see it in good hands!
Same hands that made the original. Microprose is back!
Great game, only thing missing is the ability to play carrier command 1 on one of the ships computer terminals during those long sea hauls😉
Microprose also did Falcon 4.0 F-16 simulator. So I guess they have lot of experience
I'm liking that command post design.
the Carrier Command: Gaia Mission was a great update to the original -if you can get the thing to run.
I think it needs two or three escort ships would be cool for this game. Cruiser and Frigate and destroyer.
Played every version of CC except the C64 and Amstrad also the music is giving me a Tron Legacy vibe, cannot wait to play.
Good to know I'm not the only one who thought about the Tron music
Microprose are back, baby!
the original game on ZX Spectrum was amazing. Willing to give this one a try!
That lighting is awesome.
i hope they add loads more stuff in future updates like own island defences etc and more units!
Good to have you back, MicroProse. It's been too long 🍺😄👍.

will this game get a vr port?
Is this great track composed by Chris Randle and Joh Daou ?
This deserves way more upvotes but I'm not touching that "420".
