This is an Ironman challenge run of Fire Emblem 11: Shadow Dragon on Hard 5 Difficulty. In Ironman runs, I am not allowed to reset the game, use savepoints, or save states. Each action or occurrence is as a result, permanent. Any characters that die will remain dead for the rest of the run, and if I lose the game, the run is over.

@@alexanderharrison7421 im not too familiar with hard 5 fe11, does no jagen somehow make it so cycling through half your army per map is optimal? i thought he was just doing it for comedy
I’d like to point out that according to the credits, any dead unit in this game “vanishes from the pages of history”. So I like to think that not only is Marth sending all these people to their deaths, he’s also unpersoning them and stealing the credit for anything they may have achieved during the war.

Jagen's death really took a toll on Marth's psyche.
Medeus was trying to protect the world from Marth.
I think my favorite line is "the fact he died for a purpose, is in it self, notable, for its rarity" 14:52
This is pretty much the "you can question my methods, but not my results" saga
Given how minimal the gains were in proportion to the amount of dead bodies, yes I very much CAN question the results

@@QueenAleenaFanNamed units are better than your average levy recruit tho. This is like like Charles XII losing all his caroleans but managing to win the Great Northern War.

Love how this playthrough has essentially become the journey of anti-marth, an evil prince who takes joy in mass-killing his people

You purposely killing all the ballisticians to spite the people who told you they were necessary to complete the game was the best part of this run.
Why are they even necessary
@@Teinve Cuz they're overpowered, pretty much. Ridiculous range? Effective weaponry? Succulent damage?
Ballisticians are simply just amazing in this game, they'll make your life way easier.

This is what happens when you apply Advance Wars strategies to FE. I love it.
See, I actually try to get good ranks in advance wars, and so have much lower death counts in aw than this atrocity.

@@michael_betts All the Advance Wars besides Days of Ruin don't award you points by how many units you got killed, but by what final proportion of units you get killed. Note that I said final proportion, so building new units for no good raisin will boost your rank. Hence if you cleared the map quickly, you can spend a few days churning out infantry and get full marks.
@@maltheopia Which I do do, but getting 300s requires 10% deaths max, and with the 50 unit cap that means a losing a few infantry needlessly kills you attempt at a perfect.
@@michael_betts 10% losses is for War Room, 20% is for campaign.
Excel Emblem's DS Emblem IronMan Runs are both some of the most cursed and brilliantly-amazing things in the FE Community.
It's insane to believe that this started out as a legitimate attempt, but then Jagen lost a bet to the RNG gods.
Jagen wagered Marth’s soul in exchange for eternal youth. Or eternal oldness.

When he said "as a friend you are replaceable" i felt that.
This run kept getting more scuffed with every chapter but despite going off the rails immediately and just swerving in random directions for a while it somehow got exactly where it was supposed to go and all it took was a mountain of generic soldiers that probably didn't have hopes or dreams anyway

@@kyokonull The loss of Jagen drove Marth into insanity which made him the sadic of this run however he tried to teach for his descendants the same (Chrom and Lucina) but they commited so much little sacrifices that he moved to Fateslandia and made Corrin deadly cripple half of Nohr and ended up dying

Most people make a playlist for their LP's, Excelblem makes 1 video with all the episodes. Also the viewer count slowly rising throughout is so satisfying to watch.
This man is a legend. I cannot even stand one of my characters dying even if I don't use them.
Looking back on this run, we really slept on Castor until really late. Nobody was making jokes about him for the longest time.

The best thing about this run is that it accidentally discovered a way to preform a 0-Turn run.

Every hero and every villain have some form of origin story. To think that Excelblem’s had a 99% chance of just not happening… well, it’s as if fate itself wanted history to run the course it has.
Alternative title: WHY Gordin is the BEST unit in Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (FE11).

Little trivia for you all: in the original plans for FE1, Jagen was gonna be killed off to provide a tragic coming-of-age moment for Marth. This was scrapped due to either time constraints, technical limitations, or the inconvenience of taking away a unit from the player (which is funny, because Kaga later did that with FE4 and FE5). I guess this is what might’ve happened.

This is why Shadow Dragon is the truest fire emblem game in spirit. Its like Kaga snuck back in and was like "TEARRINH WASNT CHAOTIC ENOUUUUGGHH"
Kaga's going soft in his retirement. We'd never be getting monsters like Merida and Troy back in his heyday.

I haven't played this FE but I'm gonna assume Marth's character as megalomaniac psychopathic ruler with no regard of human lives is canon.
The moment Marth lost the only person with more authority than himself, Jagen, he just went on a war crime spree
