It’s still incredible to see how perfectly the stars aligned for the ending to this Iron Man run.
As impressive as winning the Ironman was I'm almost as impressed that he managed to kill off every single character in Shadow Dragon's roster and still win
Heck they even ran out of generic names by the end of it

This is one of the few ironman where the main lord gets the bittersweet ending

I did not realize that 70% of the deaths in this iron man were Mangs intentionally killing off people for the promise of gaiden chapter units being good instead of even attempting to train anyone.
And even those were shit!

Every time he looses a unit and buries his head in his hands, it seems like he's rubbing his magic egg head trying to get mangs luck back.
I can't believe there was a time when we weren't able to enjoy a good ol' Mangs ironman. They truly have been an upgrade to this channel.

This Ironman was legendary. Not only because it was the first win, because it was in Merciless or the big flex on Mekkah. It also gave us a lot of good stuff: the birth, death, rebirth and second death of Unil, a mountain of corpses, good and bad luck, fun moments... It had it all.
And to top it off, you got the win with EXACT DAMAGE even after losing your trump card (Nagi).

I'm imagining that last fight like it was a movie, a Marth covered in blood using the last of his energy to take one last strike at Medeus after seeing comrade after comrade fall. Truly beautiful
Maybe a montage of every one who died to get to that point.

It's telling that Mangs just has different sizes of death screens on the press of a button.
Despite having the most deaths of any mangs iron man this whole run was a prime example of never punished. I've never seen him play worse and still end up winning somehow
Looping through the replacement pool like 3 times is honestly more impressive than beating the game.

It actually happened...Shadow Dragon death compilation, my favorite ironman so far. There was a lot of funny deaths...Jeigen, Darros, Rickard, DonDon, Ogma...Thank you Mangs and Cyan. Still waiting for Mekkah, if he loses Mangs is gonna flex forever on his face.

My perspective of all deaths:
Jagen (take 1): We're on to a great start of the death fest... (also Mangs was salty that make us go to take 2... I mean, I can't blame him when the game decides to screw you, plus, it was just the 1st fight, also while this is more of the binding blade season 2 topic, this stuff happened to Roy, but again, I let that slide, otherwise the Ironman would be boring... right?)
Cain: Well, this should have teached Mangs to keep an eye on the enemy stats... right? (apperently that lesson didn't happen).
Caeda: Poor Mangs, a bogus move is all it took to lose the (pretty much) unit recruiter of the game (and also the good ending of the game).
Draug: Pretty much Jagen take 1 moment.
Barst: Pretty much Caeda's death redux (at least for his farewell, he managed to hurt his executioner).
Interlude 1: Apparenlty the game knows how much Mangs sucks to keep units alive that it decided to give him the 1st generic unit (and here's the reason of "Unil's" existence or whatever you want to call it).
Bord: To be honest, is a shame the Devil Axe didn't take him as a victim.
Darros: As Deadpool in MVC3 says when KO'ed... "YOU PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTON!!!"
Vyland: What did Mangs expected to happen there?
Roshea: Same as Vyland.
Abel: Meat shield... whatever, next.
Matthis: Vyland and Roshea's deaths pretty much... again.
Castor: Mangs just pleased the chat who wanted this guy dead, LOL.
Navarre: Really? you had him as a cavalier? anyway, you got screwed with him anyway, but still no good to lose him in a Vylamd, Roshea and Matthis way.

Minerva (stayed as an enemy unit): Well, Mangs did the choice of killing her sadly.
Maria: That even hurt me despite me NOT playing the game, but this was another case like Julian.
Tomas: Yet another meatshield.
Macellan: How many meatshields up to this death we have so far?
Linde, Boah, Doplh: More meatshields?
Ogma: Mangs, you SHOULD KNOW AT THIS POINT THAT YOU SHOULD NOT TRUST THE GAME RNG TO LET YOUR UNITS SURVIVE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.
Beck: Did you really expect the enemy unit NOT taking advantage of his dropped guard?
Xane: As soon as he joined he dies, smart move indeed Mangs...
Astram, Wendell: *sigh*... NEXT!!!
Rickard: Mangs failing as always.
Etzel (stayed as an enemy unit): I think Caeda's death made this follow up possible if my memory is right.

Horace: Well, at least he saved the others for a while in that moment.
Tiki: Funniest death in the run (that we could also put it as a MIA as a joke), it happened so fast that we could say she just left the game because she got bored of Mangs' mistakes (we know that a Wyvern Knight got her with long range weapons but I like more to say that she just left the game, and because of this, 1 flag for the last gaiden chapter was triggered).
Lorenz: Another Mangs' moments of NOT taking caution of enemy stuff.
Jeorge: Blame Mangs for losing his protection in the form of Lorenz.
Catria: Too bad, dodged 1 Swarm, but the 2nd got her.
Ymir: Well, we saw that coming.
Merric, Wrys: Brave lanced to dust.
Interlude 2: Dexa, Hendexa, Duadexa, Wimp... just wow... did the game wanted Mangs to have a laugh or what?
Interlude 2.5: Devil Sword... it was about time a Devil weapon did the usual backfire to death (well, the weapon didn't kill the generic unit but still it counts, plus, Mangs wanted to have his Devil stuff dose because... why not?).
Interlude 2.6: Oh... the Devil Axe didn't backfire. :(
Sedgar: Mangs saw this coming, and he didn't prepare in a proper way to defend.
Interlude 3: More generic with stupid names (but honestly, I can't blame you if you ended up laughing about this).
Palla: And thus, the Whitewings got extingued with her death.
Radd: His death quote said all what I had to say.
Interlude 4: Unil strikes back... and bites the dust shortly after yet again.
Nagi: Release the... NOOOO!!!!
Wolf: Died as a true hero, he pretty much carried the run, even after his death to allow Marth to deal the finish blow to the ironman.
Medeus (he's not a recruitable unit or whatever, but I couldn't help to include him as well): Wolf cursed him to fall at the hands of Marth with his death.
Elice: Marth aside, she was the sole survivor of the Ironman (well, if I exclude Norne who can't be recruited on hard unless you use a hacked game, and in the case of Frey... he's always the bait in the not played prologue in hard mode... unless you use a hacked game were you can pick another unit in his place... with the exception of Norne).

The Ogma death wasn't even because of him doing anything wrong, it's that Shadow Dragon fucking lies to you about what Manaketes have for stats because it doesn't show the dragonstone bonuses.
So Marth can choose Nyna or Elice as his queen
Auffle survived too

Today I learned that shadow dragon gives replacement units, as a kid I always felt bad if a unit died so I'd just restart and retry chapters until I won without someone dying unless it was unavoidable.
When i was a kid literally everyone died except Wolf. I couldn't complete the game. I got stuck in Michalis chapter.

As a player, Mangs is... expendable.
That first death to a 1% crit chance is pretty amazing.
I remember that day u beat H5 Shadow dragon ironman well.
I didnt think u were going to do it going into the final map especially afterwards when Nagi died then the exact damage kill with Wolf + Marth with that shaky 71% hit was intense lol
When Wolf took one for the team (or what's left of it) to let Marth finish Medeus i really felt that. Nearly everyone who fought alongside Marth died, the darkest timeline indeed.

A part of me feels like the only reason he won this Ironman is because, like Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, and like in Advance Wars, he can replace his losses easily because of the reserve units and thus wasn't as harshly crippled by any single loss.

I knew this Ironman was cursed, map reset or no, as soon as Jeigan died to a 1% crit on the first map in the first attempt.
