Nope. Loophole definition: : a means of escape; especially : an ambiguity or omission in the text through which the intent of a statute, contract, or obligation may be evaded Private sales do not meet this definition so you are wrong. It is not a 'loophole'.
steve AIexander I know right us Americans just want to sit in our country and relax in peace but nearly everything we do is being watched by everyone Especially Europeans they stick their fat noses into our lives and analyze everything about us but we could care less what they do
ST∆R™ Nah, anything but, here we have a lower crime rate, free healthcare, less racism, better culture, better food, more history, so on If anything you guys should love to come here, in fact you do, Americans make up one of our largest immigrant groups
+ST∆R™ For one our history of the UK is far superior to that of the USA considering your country didn't have history until the 1700s. Also the reason why the UK has more "violent" crimes is due to the definition being different to that of the US. The definition in the UK is “Violent crime contains a wide range of offences, from minor assaults such as pushing and shoving that result in no physical harm through to serious incidents of wounding and murder. Around a half of violent incidents identified by both BCS and police statistics involve no injury to the victim.” While the definition in the USA according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, "violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Violent crimes are defined in the UCR Program as those offenses which involve force or threat of force.” As you can see above if both countries had the same definition the UK would have much lower numbers but hey, according to you pushing someone has the same violent rating as murder/
athappyhiker Your point has no sense or factual basis. Firstly the US entered WW1 in 1917 not 1918, and you did not come to our aid because we needed it, you came because Germany continued to harass your shipping. Britain and France had Germany on a leash by the end of 1917, it was coming to an end. Our laws aren’t “insane”, they are sensible. We realised after our first mass shooting (Dunblane) nobody in a civilised country needs a fully automatic weapon.
BubbleBlacKa You think people living in towns and cities don’t need to defend themselves? What the hell is wrong with you? I’m pretty sure that’s where most of the violent crime takes place. And the police never respond fast enough to save you
BubbleBlacKa I see that you replied again referencing that police in the UK respond incredibly fast around eight minutes response time. Do you have any idea how long eight minute or when someone is shooting at you or trying to mug or murder you or rape your daughter? Those eight minutes are about seven minutes and 45 seconds longer than it takes an Incident to take place. Can you imagine an active shooter being in the same place as you for eight minutes shooting at you? Are you telling me then that you would be comfortable waiting for the police for eight minutes, or would you rather have the ability to defend yourself right then and there with a concealed handgun for example?
Obvious anti-gun propaganda is obvious. Let's have a break down of the clip. 0:12 Strange question to ask someone at a gun show. Obviously trying to provoke the answer given by the lady. Here is a fact, only 2 percent of criminal guns come from gun shows. 2:31 BBC have it wrong, it's actually all about the second amendment that protects the people(well regulated militia) from a tyrannical government. 2:40 speaks for itself.
MasakanSolaris Well if I had a revolver aimed at their balls, they'd think twice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a gun advocate. I'm relieved that there are few guns in the UK and never have to worry about school shootings etc, but taking all the guns from the 'good guys' is a recipe for disaster. America has far, far too many guns in the wrong hands and the only defense is to have your own.
The "gun show loophole" is a simple face to face gun sale that can be done between any 2 residents of the same state. In the case of legal rifles and shotguns that is. This does not include handguns or "NFA weapons" meaning full auto or short barrel weapons. A legal face to face sale can be done ANYWHERE including in your home, in a parking lot, or even in a bar room. Totally legal, has been forever. Of course a person can LIE and say they are a felon, or aren't a resident of the same state. But I could also go buy a car without a license from a private sale and joyride it with no title or registration as well. Does that mean there is a used car loophole?
In Ohio any way, you can sell ANY gun, including handguns to any other citizen of the state of Ohio. You have to reasonably believe the person you are selling the gun to can legally buy it. As far as the state is concerned, a gun, any gun (not an NFA item) is your legal property. You can do with it as you wish. Which is the way it should be. And I have news for everyone on here, ALL of the legal gun owners I know would NEVER sell any of their guns to ANYONE who they even slightly think might not be able to legally buy it. The gun is my personal private property. The government has no more access to it than they do any other item in my house.
The loophole is a stupid thing to even talk about. As an american i can order the parts online and have a fully function glock replica made for less than $60 in a few days. Its completely legal, i don't need to register it, and i don't even need a license to own it. Enjoy your communist dictatorship UK where you can't even buy a butter knife without a permit and get years in prison for "hate speech" on facebook.

officially cops here in NY claim to respond to an emergency in 9-10 mins. But in reality is anywhere from 10-30 mins. we are a city of 8.4 million people crammed into a couple of islands. I do not believe the police can keep us safe, that is not their job. their job is to enforce the law, it is our responsibility to keep ourselves safe. our population is 5 times the population of the UK. furthermore we are all different from each other...what in one state is considered a city, in the other is considered a hamlet. in other-words it is easy to be condescending, when you're uninformed. I'm a city boy, but ive been to the mid-west, and there is no way in hell i would ever go back there without a weapon. in certain places you simply need one.
Raul Santana Christ that is a very dangerous place, but it is very much the fault of the government for letting poverty get that high. I'm curious on how often you would need to use your gun, the lady with the hand gun and laser sight looked like she would never use it.
+MrRockboy222 yes it is the fault of the government, we spend billions buying favor across the world yet we have people go hungry here. we spend millions on foreign re\construction, but we have soaring homelessness here. our country was designed to be isolationist, somewhere along we lost our way.....you'd be surprised how often people use their weapons. anything from bears to home intruders. I personally used to fear weapons but once trained, I knew enough to be able to say...people kill people not weapons. I've used, and I've been trained by the military to use weapons designed to cause mass casualties. still these weapons are perfectly safe in the right hands, so the whole argument about gun control is idiotic. it's fear mongering, I've graduated from a school with metal detectors, police dogs, etc. yet we still managed to get in the news for face slashing, stabbings, armed suicide etc. so if there is a will to kill your fellow man, you will find it. there's no need for a gun, when the instructions for causing mass casualties are readily available online.
+MrRockboy222 The point for 99% of legal gun owners is to train, sport, practice with these weapons so that in the event that it needs to be used, it can be used effectively. Most gun owners won't be placed in a situation to use it for self defense, nor for tyranny. That alone should not make anyone think it's a bright idea to ban them.
He was just being a condescending prick to the lady. Glad she gave a good answer when he put her on the spot hoping to embarrass her. What a dickhead...
In America the media tells you that everything is out to kill you, your family, your dog and will then take a power dump on the kitchen table. The US has a much bigger problem with fake news than Britain, mate
That awkward last scene the BBC do not want you to focus on. A disabled man who is at major disadvantage in a wheelchair buying a gun so he can actually defend himself. Over here in the UK you are used to seeing stories about folks in their homes being beaten and robbed. In america, that man can defend himself. Every freedom comes with its advantages and disadvantages. So. You can choose to be independent and defend yourself OR you can have gun control, rely on the government for protection which ironically will NOT protect you but will investigate your death or bodily harm. I've thought about this topic long and hard, did my research and ended up switching over the to pro gun side. I used to be incredibly anti-gun because I was so narrow minded and ignorant.
@Jack Benton yet, it wasn't only the "liberals" that done it. It was left and right, same as the US, when even cock breath trump banned bump stocks based upon emotions and sucking up to the public for votes.
never been to a gun show where you could buy a gun from anyone without a background check. it's simply not allowed. i tried to buy a gun like in this video so the government would not know about the gun simply for privacy issues, but i could not find a seller that would sell without the background check. The BBC manufactures lies.
+mechanicalbu11 I have many times, its an INTRASTATE transaction and not covered by the CGA 68 in any way. Various States laws may require the state to give permission but in those states do not have such laws works as shown.
In most places, a private sale between two citizens is totally legal. No background checks needed. At that point the gun is considered you own personal private property and you can do with it as you wish. It is no different than selling someone a lawnmower or a used bicycle.
It is true that you can buy a gun in a private sale from another individual without a background check, but that's really because there's no real way to enforce background checks on private sales.
We call it the "church picnic, family reunion, Christmas morning loophole", because way more guns get privately traded and sold there, than at a gun show.
well ya,we live in a perfect bubble where nothing ever goes wrong and nobody ever gets hurt. isnt it nice living in a utopia! oh wait, this is earth, there are dangers out there.

Operation Valyrie Uh criminals use a wide array of weapons. The fact that far more people are stabbed to death a year here in the USA than are killed with long guns of any kind verifies that. Oh, and last I checked massacres and murders existed long before guns did? A criminal without a gun is still dangerous. You think a rapist with a knife isn't a threat to a female living alone just because he doesn't have a gun? Good lord you guys live in la la land.
not to mention the fact that in the us more people are killed by medical negligence than firearm related violence and you could make a IED out of 50 bucks and a quick google search instead of spending 2000 on a full auto rifle and waiting for background checks to pass...
Why is the U.K. so obsessed with our firearm culture? They don't have a God given right to protect themselves over there, but we don't obsess over that.

Brits: First the governement took their guns, gunrelated crimes went up due to illegal import of guns for- outlaws! Then the governement went for their pocketknives. They have knife-free zones! And violence-? Well, trust your governement!
YuhBoiJosiah I’m not a Brit but from my understanding not that hard, you need to tell the government about all your guns and they can check to see if they deem your house safe enough. You need some licenses and stuff but that’s pretty expected, the issue is the gov can take them away whenever they want, and know every legal gun and who owns it so there is no freedom element like in the us, hitler famously used a similar system to take all of the Jews’ guns, that didn’t end too well for them. Also many guns are expressly prohibited, the laws are getting stricter every year though.
@Paul Martin I've found that the vast majority of people in my area simply have little to no first hand knowledge or experience on the topic. If you can get them to a range there is hope.
Knife crime is a massive problem over here in England, i hate it when British reporters go over to america and talk about all the crime that goes on with guns when theres almost if not more now knife crime in our capital London than new York for example.

It would spend almost all of its time sitting doing nothing. All it is, is a waste of money. A commodity that is bought by the insecure.
Let's do some math using CDC numbers. 32,000 gun deaths last year -60% are suicide - 19,200 -3% are accidents - 960 -4% are justified - 1,280 (thousands of instances of firearm self defense occur annually, most go unreported) -33% are homicides - 10,560 -but 80% of homicides are gang related - 8,448 That leaves 1,712 people in a country with a population of 325 million people. You have a 0.00003% chance of death by a firearm, but if you're not part of a gang, don't commit a crime, or don't plan on committing suicide, you actually have a 0.000005% chance of death by a firearm in this country. *Guns are not the problem.*

Okay, incase any of you brits are truly wondering why americans own guns, not just watching this bs of people answering horrifically. The real reason is because we americans(generally speaking) believe that we should have the right to own a weapon for whatever reason we choose, whether in sport, collection, or self-defense. It's honestly none of your god-damn buissness on why we bought the gun we did, or why we have the guns we do. It's a significant freedom that we are expressing to it's fullest capabilities and damn proud of it.
Well a big factor is the fact that we have a big problem with smuggling and illegal entry plus many people live in the middle of no where and the police response time is in excess of an hour.
Explain how felons in places like New York and California get guns then? Even in private sales you have to have a state issued ID for the state you are buying in. It's simple the guns are just like drugs they are illegally obtained and sold illegally. We pretty much have an outright ban on things like cocaine and heroin last time I checked and people still get it easily.
Gun smugglers is not a problem but it would be if there was a large gun ban, because then only people who are willing to break the law would have guns. "No gun control" is inaccurate. The amount of gun control depends on where you live but there is always some. I don't know any legal gun owners who will sell to anyone, do you? The 33 states don't require "universal background checks", meaning for all classes and it doesn't matter how or where you get them from.
One of the things i found so fascinating about a gun show I went to recently was the extreme amount of diversity. Often times were made to believe that guns are only owned by white males, yet in a gun show in eastern NC there were African Americans, Asian Americans, Indian Americans, etc. all there because of their inherent belief that we have a right to bear arms.
I keep asking for that gun show loophole every time. They look at me like I'm crazy and tell me I need to do a background check. I don't think they've gotten the memo.
ThatGuy67 our monarchs have basically no real power and even if they tried to use what power they do have no one would listen it’s why it’s called a democracy not a authoritarian monarchy

1:15 honestly criminal don't obey law and terrorist? Some of them might just made homemade weapon or bomb or just hijack you every day truck and started to run over people.
Most Brits still don't see it. Their disdain for the weapons that made us freer than any before us, is the very thing that strengthens the resolve of legal gun owners. Self defense is the most common reason cited, but the only reason this is important starts with the balance of power. Brits and others are fine with their governments (aka ordinary PEOPLE) having arms, yet somehow they think those very same people shouldn't have them in their homes. It's that balance of power they do not understand. Yes there are risks/rewards and those risks are scary when they play out on TV. The rewards are much more difficult to show, not taking into account the disregard the media seems to have for situations which were controlled and deescalated by the brandishing of a legal firearm. There are ways we can improve, but to place the arms monopoly back in the hands of the government of nation that cucks from around the world call murderous, imperialistic, out for blood and exploitation, is foolish. They call our government the worlds bully yet they want us to disarm ourselves. I do not see the logic in keeping the monopoly of arms in the government's hands.
I'm british and I recently visited LA and shot some guns. Guns absolutely fascinate me by the way they are assembled and how they work. I wish the UK had more lenient gun laws as I would love to own a gun. Not everyone who owns a gun is a criminal. Plus gun control is easier in the UK as we are on an island! Banning guns in the states wouldn't stop illegal guns coming from mexico! Only difference is now your law abiding citizens are unarmed against a real threat.
The United States has a landmass 2 and a half times the size of Europe; our population is roughly half that of Europe as well. There are only 10 cities with a population of 1 million or greater in the US, and unless you happen to live in one of those cities, "law enforcement" is usually the Sheriff's office, who takes roughly an hour to get to your home after you've called 911. And while, thank God, I've never had to use a firearm in self-defense against a human, I have had to use it against dangerous animals out here. Most of the US landmass is untamed wilderness full of animals that will try to kill you. And outside of cities, this kind of stuff happens so often that it just doesn't even hit the news.
Yep. London has a worst homicide rate than New York city. That's embarrassing for them. They would rather focus on our freedom and try to get rid of it.

If anything you guys should love to come here, in fact you do, Americans make up one of our largest immigrant groups
Around a half of violent incidents identified by both BCS and police statistics involve no injury to the victim.”
While the definition in the USA according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, "violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. Violent crimes are defined in the UCR Program as those offenses which involve force or threat of force.”
As you can see above if both countries had the same definition the UK would have much lower numbers but hey, according to you pushing someone has the same violent rating as murder/

0:12 Strange question to ask someone at a gun show. Obviously trying to provoke the answer given by the lady. Also obvious that guns need to be secured before entering the building so why ask the visitor the question and not the employees.
0:46 Pointing out that AR weapons are nether for sport or protection, "something else". While stood in front of a first grader (reference to Sandy Hook) That's pretty biased coming from the BBC don't you think.
1:51 Pointing out that any old dick and harry could buy a gun. Exactly what Obama happened to mention in his teary speech today. Coincidence?

HoldOnToYourHats in other words, you can't, otherwise you would've, but you didn't, so you can't.
+HoldOnToYourHats Pshh, it's hardly propaganda.

@Ian Murraylol he is right 300 thousand people get saved by the gun they own in usa compared to 30 thousands of death by gun violence which 2/3 of it is suicide and the rest 70% because the gang related crime.
Completely insignificant, I think the figure is around only a couple hundred a year. Let's check with the literal 41,126 (10,919 deaths) incidents since the start of this year in America alone?
Ian Murray And your “great everlasting empire” fell to a few farmers. You brits are too focused on other countries problems than trying to deal with your own.
officially cops here in NY claim to respond to an emergency in 9-10 mins.
+Raul Santana What are the dangers in the mid west?
+MrRockboy222 high poverty, I mean extreme poverty, and very desolate just for starters.

@@anonymoust2877 His opening two sentences are the first two.
Washington Post estimates the amount of the population that owns guns is somewhere from 30% to 50% but declining.
Gun smugglers is not a problem but it would be if there was a large gun ban, because then only people who are willing to break the law would have guns. "No gun control" is inaccurate. The amount of gun control depends on where you live but there is always some. I don't know any legal gun owners who will sell to anyone, do you? @Jack Benton lol that was no standard butt stock. Those are much bigger and are shoulder able. You don't "gun" much do you?
Jack Benton was a Pistol and NOT a short barrel rifle, stock would not extend
you seem to have misheard the quote. At 1:00 he says "seems like you can get everything on sale here", and not "seems like you can get whatever you want here". I hope you can identify the difference in meaning now.
I used to be an anti gunner, but it was in reality just that I didn’t know shit about guns. Now I’m for them.
Great 👍👍👍👍
Only an American would see this as a form of attacking their "liberties"
I see it as falsified information.
I love how the reporters are freaking out by all the people walking in with guns and the simple background checks
I'm a Brit.
There are many of us over here who respect and admire your liberty and freedom to defend yourselves, your family and property.
We are completely defenseless here in and around London. I carry a steel pen and a flashlight. The odds will never be in my favour and if I ever used them in defense I would likely be prosecuted.
Never give up your 2nd amendment!! Don't be helpless and completely reliant on a ever left leaning police force and government for protection like we do.
"We are completely defenseless here in and around London."
London has less than a third the homicide rate of the US...
@@ratofvengence I think gun confiscation was alot less of a cultural shock for the UK. Our police have been pretty effective in confiscating illegal firearms and being a small island our police can be with us within a few minutes in an emergency.
The U.S has so many guns in circulation that stripping them of law abiding people just seems wrong to me.
I wasn't aware the homicide rate was that different and would be curious to know if the violent crime rates are similar but my comment was based off a personal feeling I have when walking the streets. I am of course very grateful that I live where I do and that not many people die.
I don't think gun control will work in the U.S unless public places step up their security significantly.
@@ratofvengence london is kinda a little bit smaller then the US...
@@diggerproductions8603 That's why I specified rate. But if it makes you feel better, compare the UK rate to the US rate. One is over quintuple the other...
Its so funny watching a Brit being totally confused by freedom. 😂
um... how is he confused? he is just trying formulate an opinion on guns and guns really are not freedom
@@anonymoust2877 Well, guns can facilitate freedom. Just look at Vietnam, Indochina, the Philippines, and, well, the US
@Unknown2234 Unknown Take a look around, you muppet. Everyone's country is burning! Have you not noticed the global pandemic yet?
@Unknown2234 Unknown Brexit? lol
@Unknown2234 Unknown You're just salty of Ireland because the IRA kicked your asses lol, you sound like a conservative boomer
1:03 "Seems like you can get whatever you want here" ignorantly starts to point the gun toward the guy. I hate it when people act like guns are only used by whackos to commit mass murder. There are a lot of people like myself that enjoy shooting for sport and that isn't fair nor legal to restrict the 2nd amendment rights. Trump 2020
My right as an American shall not be infringed.
Americans used guns to get our freedom... away from the British rule. You mad?
PS. This gun show is happening again next weekend at the Dulles Expo Center in Virginia. Hope to see all of you there !!
you know america have unlawfully invaded countries for no reason the citizens should have guns to fight of the us army
@@anonymoust2877 Actually, that's one of the reasons the 2nd Amendment was added to the constitution: to fight against a tyrannical government. Please do a bit of research before making such comments
British guy 2016: "what is this gun used for?"
British guy 2020: "oh shit islam has totally invaded our nation...um what shall we do?"

I like how BBC news cuts out the footage before he explains how the small arms dealer prevents against liers. They do this to scare people into thinking a criminal can actually just walk out of there with a gun lol
how it works?
They called an AR-15 a hunting rifle for once
Funny because not what there for
US: Gun shows
UK: Knife Shows
Brits still mad about our revolution
💯
Im mad we didn’t join
Ugh the way the people muzzle flash eatch other. I know the guns are unloaded and locked but my instincts still kick in
Lol. That whole stadium is full of people. No way you won't be flashing someone.
Gun show loop hole? 😂
This is what they call fake news.
I’m honestly asking from a neutral perspective on this, than what would you call that last interaction with the guy who privately owned those weapons?

No muzzle control at the gun show apparently.
"What sort of dangers are out there?" Well Mr. UK, how bout Acid Attacks, Knife Attacks, and Rogue Vans for starts.
do you know how infrequently these occur? where as in a year, where most of your country hasn't been out of the house, you've still managed to have over 280 school shootings so far.

lol they ain’t that bad
To be precise, 3 M1 Garand, maybe 2 1903 Springfields (they have different sights so it’s confusing me), maybe an Enfield, and an SKS

In truth it’s just badass tbh
I went to a gun store for the first time since I turned 18 I was excited and happy. I cannot wait to register and to own one. I love guns and I wanna practice my right to bare arms
"loophole"
good to know the British don't know what an FTL is
the "loophole" is because it was a private party transaction. and did you mean FFL?
TheMudyOne private party transactions are largely illegal and yes, i did, auto correct wasn't having it.
Hazztech private party transactions are actually very legal, just don't hear about it because no one cares. most private party transactions occur between people who know each other already(so you have an idea of how it was treated up to that point) now this only applies to long guns, handgun transactions(in Michigan at least) requires some checks(unless you have a cpl)
TheMudyOne private transaction of firearms is illegal in a great many states.
it really isn't. trust me, I work with people and we have done private firearm transactions and its all legal
The difference between cultures is obvious when the British put their fingers on the trigger of the 12 gauge, WHILE pointing the gun at the camera man
1:15 honestly criminal don't obey law and terrorist?
I do not see the logic in keeping the monopoly of arms in the government's hands.
then what made us free.? simply asking the British?
To be fair, that “Are you a good person?” check is crazy. There needs to be much more than that.
The problem with guns in the United States of America is that there isn't enough guns and too much restrictions.
*too many
Evidence says otherwise:
www.hsph.harvard.edu/hicrc/firearms-research/policy-evaluation/
I'm british and I recently visited LA and shot some guns. Guns absolutely fascinate me by the way they are assembled and how they work. I wish the UK had more lenient gun laws as I would love to own a gun. Not everyone who owns a gun is a criminal. Plus gun control is easier in the UK as we are on an island! Banning guns in the states wouldn't stop illegal guns coming from mexico! Only difference is now your law abiding citizens are unarmed against a real threat.
I'm never giving up my guns
The United States has a landmass 2 and a half times the size of Europe; our population is roughly half that of Europe as well. There are only 10 cities with a population of 1 million or greater in the US, and unless you happen to live in one of those cities, "law enforcement" is usually the Sheriff's office, who takes roughly an hour to get to your home after you've called 911. And while, thank God, I've never had to use a firearm in self-defense against a human, I have had to use it against dangerous animals out here. Most of the US landmass is untamed wilderness full of animals that will try to kill you. And outside of cities, this kind of stuff happens so often that it just doesn't even hit the news.
stupid fuck
@@anoncrazynonevilgooddecent7631 ?
The reporter broke one of the rules of firearms; never point it at something you're not willing to destroy. He had it pointed into the crowd.
BBC should make a video about outrageous number of street stabbing in UK. I'm not kidding, this is real!
Yep. London has a worst homicide rate than New York city. That's embarrassing for them. They would rather focus on our freedom and try to get rid of it.
I’m British and I have no problem with guns. In London there is so much knife crime, I’d rather be shot once and die quickly than stabbed 15 times. The best gun you can get here is a 22. Rifle 😂 what a beastly weapon!
The guy you only have to show ID to is a private seller not a dealer
