This Teacher Appreciation Month, we want to honor the teachers around the world. They not only taught us the fundamentals of our education - reading, writing, mathematics - but also became our role models and inspiration for life. It's no doubt that teachers have had a profound impact on our lives. This month, as students are graduating and finishing up the school year, Jubilee Project is proud to share with you "World Without Teachers" a short video that takes a moment to look back on the teachers in our lives and how they have shaped who we are.
Everybody knows that teachers make a huge difference in our lives. Yet less than 10% of top-tier undergrads express any interest in teaching as a career. Without more young people going into the field of education, it is a real possibility that some children will grow up without the impactful influence of great teachers in their lives.
Jubilee Project is proud to partner with Participant Media's TEACH campaign to encourage passionate, creative, innovative young people to consider teaching as a career. Together, let's help build a world where every student has a great teacher to guide them along the way.
Special thanks to everybody to shared their stories with us.

Thank you Jubilee Project. Always creating good content. I want you all (writers, producers, directors, talent, camera crew, lights, the cook, the person who open the building, etc...) to know that all the work you guys do doesn't go unnoticed. Your videos have helped to breathe during difficult times. Thank you for being such great teachers. @its yaboii What a sad outlook you have. Of COURSE most children would choose to play or spend time with their parents over attending school! They're children. They oftentimes don't know any better. No one is holding a gun to parents' heads to force them to send their children to school. Kids can be homeschooled. What I am seeing during this pandemic when parents are supervising their children's learning is that they appreciate teachers more than ever! No one but a teacher knows what it's like to group 20 seven year olds in a room and teach them to read, write, and do math. There's always at least one child who is having trouble at home (abuse, neglect, not enough food, divorce, etc.). There's the kid who is smarter than all of the others and is bored, so he acts up. There are a couple of kids who have no support at home and aren't doing well in school so they feel badly about themselves. Teachers know how to help these children. Sometimes there are kids who only eat if they go to school because their parents can't afford to feed them regular meals. Teachers often use their own money to pay for pencils and crayons for kids who don't bring any from home. They pay for lunches, special treats, and even clothing for some of these kids. I don't know one single teacher (and I have been in education for 23 years) who doesn't call her students "my kids." Teachers are heroes and if you can't see that, I feel badly for you. Have a good day.

Thank you so much for this video. My husband's a teacher and I feel like his job is so meaningful tough... Yet really a thankless one... Last week, there was an earthquake on Mount Kinabalu in Sabah (Malaysia) which claimed the lives of some beautiful children from a primary school in Singapore, along with two very heroic teachers who were trekking the mountain as part of their development program. Unfortunately many people have been quick to point fingers at the teachers who organized the trip claiming that they did it to get themselves a free holiday. Little do they know about nor appreciate the hard work and stressful planning that has to go into organizing such trips. Teachers are definitely not there for a holiday but really to work with the burden of all the lives and well being of the children on their shoulders. No one expected a natural disaster. Why would the teachers put their own lives at risk? I just wanted to thank you for your appreciation of teachers around the world. You guys are the true unsung heroes of our society. Thank you.

This is why I don't get that teachers don't get paid that well. If you would delete all the teachers, your whole damn society will fail. Teachers teach knowledge and knowledge is the most important thing in the world, everything is based on knowledge. Yet, teachers that teach people how to be doctors, earn less than the docters. Teachers also do so much more than just teaching knowledge, they raise kids. Teachers don't get the respect they need and certainly not the paycheck they deserve too. Not evreyone can be a teacher but the good ones often give up because of the bad pay or because of lack of respect and gratitude. I often see people commenting on articles about teachers, how they earn too much for teaching some kids and having a lot of vacation. But yet, the person who writes that can write because of the teachers. I really don't get these people.

Although I agree with this, I think that some times teachers can be the issue I have experienced this on more than one occasion where basically every one is bashing into my head that "they are there to help you" but does falsely accusing me of something and telling my parents and being prejudice help me. Although I have had bad experience I am not biased there are some teachers I owe the world to.

I didn’t finish my teaching credentials, however, as an adult and somewhat of an expert in maybe just one subject. I prefer online, self-service learning, with criticism directly from the learner(s). This is a way for authors and engineers to adjust their writings, design and etc. In many instances Fortune 100 have been doing a better job because they have to adjust to what the customers want or lose their revenue source to other competitors. This is why maybe their instruction booklets, operational manual if any, user friendly logic system/software and etc seems to be better. For example, computer aided drafting figures, flow charts, cheat sheets, education virtual reality videos, and etc. Personally, my greatest learning has been by myself in a cozy an academic research library doing homework, study guides, quizzes and practice exams. If anything, going to class to see a live teacher and other students was a complete waste of time to perhaps prorated tuition expenses that we are forced to pay.
To eliminate all teachers is wrong however perhaps some trial and error or giving learners the ability to learn by themselves without a live teacher to the ones that want self-service through workbooks, study guides, and online quizzes. A lot of the times these teachers are abusive, authoritarian, uncaring, and racist.
Is also the classroom culture, many students segregate even early in life. You see this during lunch time, White students circle, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, with mixed races being left out and don’t know where to socialize in fear of rejection. Sad to see kids learn about this and master to segregate at a young age. Is also the social class problem generally speaking rich students stick together, same with middle class and the poor ones.
I’m just saying if you can cut the horrific to perhaps live teacher experience and mandatory interaction with other students in a full classroom perhaps specific learners with have the better odds of retaining what’s learn.
Also, there should be some flexibility in learning. For example, if a learner has very important things to do there shouldn’t be a problem to push back a test. I do believe putting a time limit hinders learning since it increases stress. Conversely, learners who are ahead of schedule should be able to move forward to the next course instead of near idling in a course that is perhaps too easy.
There a more stuff however the old model of mandatory live teacher and a full room of students should be just one option but not the only one.

And this is why I'm pursuing a degree in education! :D
I've had my fair share of incompetent and ignorant teachers but more of those who genuinely cared and were interested in the wellbeing of their students. I feel that my teachers (both good and bad) shaped me to become who I am today. The bad teachers taught me exactly what to avoid and what NOT to do, while the good showed me that passion is contagious and that showing interest in a student really goes a long way.
From my experience, teachers are generally underrated and teaching is mistaken as an easy job. I've had numerous people ask me if I chose teaching because "it's an easy profession" or if i'm doing it to "take the easy road in life." Never have they been so wrong in their lives! Call me bias, but there is so much they do behind the scenes.

That was great indeed , but the truth is there's a huge difference between a teacher and and educator , in my opinion we need less teachers and more educators , simply because educators are capable of showing you the way to educate yourself , self education is the real education and it cannot be determined by grades, the most successful figures today have dropped out of school at some point and they chose to learn by themselves , now teachers and educators listen's to them , education is not a peice of paper that says you've earned a degree , so unless you figure out what you really want to do in your life you will never get to find educators because that's what educators do ''help you get to where you really want to be'' therefore if you didn't know what you want no teacher and no educator will be able to help , if you didn't have the love for knowledge and think for yourself no school and no university can help you achieve anything , one of the school teachers greates challenges is to explain to the student's why do they actually go to school ! not to mention that way too many teachers have failed to dilever the true definition of education to their students , this is not the wrold we had 50 years ago

A world without teachers....would actually be beneficial in a lot of ways in my opinion. People would construct their minds to create, learn(willingly instead of forcefully), a lot of people already think that school is less helpful that it actually is intended to be. More people learn and understand new things when it's taught outside of restriction, which makes the experience of learning fun so once we take our teachers...I feel it will empower us to do what we actually want. As humans, I think it's nature to grow so we'll find our way to survive at any cost.

World without teacher? Teacher is one of the best occupation. We are not only teaching but we educate students to be better and that's why I choose being a teacher

When you really look at the actual work they do they do nothing compared to us. Really all they do is talk. They do not work cause even when they are answering a question they have a answer sheet they may press a few buttons every now and then but like still. We do SO much work in just a year alone imagine how many work sheets students do. We never really get noticed for it especially since we do it for 14 years of our lives. Yet somebody who is given the answers and just tells you to complete the work and they do not have to do anything they talk and that’s it.
