This morning while taking a shower the faucet broke off in my hand.
Then I picked up my suitcase the handle fell off.
Next, I grabbed the front door knob and it came off. Lastly, the gear shift knob
broke. It happen when I was backing out of my driveway
in my 2017 CRV. Now, I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.
Great UA-cam video. Smash that like button and subscribe.
Our 2017 CRV silver plastic shifter knob broke also. Called dealership. They took it right in and fixed at no charge. Great video. Thanks
Thank you so much.. Great "public service" to the rest of us CRV owners,
You are a genius. This helped me fix the issue. Thanks a ton.
you are very welcomed
Very informative video, thanks. I watched the video -- my 2017 CRV had the same issue few days ago, the little plastic piece broken from this button was stuck inside the channel and would not let the vehicle to lock or turn off the accessory function, finally was able to remove the broken piece and Honda is temporarily mobile and functional. This Honda design has all the signatures of a subcontracted engineering work to save money.
Thanks for posting. I’ve been looking for a repair video for over a year. Lol
simply sit back and it will be done do not rush it I say.
great video! I am still under warranty and will now know how fast they will be able to repair this. This is a common problem. Another video on the same topic (fixing the broken button) has over 15,000 views. Thanks again!
it is a few minutes time, and a good tip to the person who did it right thanks for the comment
Very good video and helpful so when my shifter knob breaks, I have a reference guide thanks again
Thank you so much buddy, this video explained it really good. I got mine fixed after watching this video , all done in less than 5 minutes
Thank you
you are very Welcomed.
A big Thank You! Part is on order today. Been dreading going to the dealer and waiting. Your work makes life a little easier. Grateful!
hardest part is placing the order.
Best video on the subject. Worked just like he said. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Me too became helpless with this issue. From Sri Lanka
Perfect..fixed my problem. Thanks for helping out!
JUST HAPPENED TO ME! WAS WORRIED I WAS GONNA GET CHARGED AN ARM AND A LEG! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
Under warranty or a few dollars. thanks for watching glad you liked it
@@fishycomics IS IT UNDER WARRANTY? I HAVE A LEASE 2017 CRV
Didn’t even know this was a problem until last Thursday...in for routine maintenance at the dealer and they mentioned a recall for it came out the day before...so you may be getting a notice in the mail soon. Mine wasn’t even broken and they replaced it.
great to know. thanks for that heads up.
Aw man! I just ordered mine, I should have checked!
It's truly unbelievable that Honda uses such a piece of shit shift button for such an important part of the vehicle. Sad and pathetic. Thank you for the video. Much appreciated. I guess I should order one now!
BAD DESIGN ON PURPOSE FOR MONEY..
This is an excellent video! Thank you Sir
Very helpful thanks buddy!
Good crv videos, all of the ones u have made r great and I have used many. Thank u !!
You saved me
Most important part- I had 4 pieces of plastic broken off in mine. I removed one and could not get the new knob button in place. Then found another and thought, OK, should work now. Still could not get the new knob button to click all the way in. Took lots more investigating to get the whole knob off ( where I could examine it and found 2 more pieces of plastic). Removed those and all worked in clicking the new knob button into place.
You are the Man, glad you found the resolution to your solution. and fixed it. not many have the Know how?
Thank you!
Welcome!
dam cheap knob broke on mines.. ive been driving without it by using my fingers to change gears. i will try this.. thanks!
dang, it didn't work. i got the same # you provided. i put in lowest gear and it slip in and clicked but when i pressed on the knob it doesn't let me engage to Parking. can't drive the car and i break the knob to be able to manual shift with finger to drive again. watching this video again, i didn't get the spring.. is that why it didn't work?
Great. thanks very much sir
Hi fishy can you make installation of front camera for honda crv
Thank u sir.
THANK YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!
This now a recall item so you can take down to Honda for a 2 hour repair. Just had mine done.
Yes the rcall has been out for before I made this and we alreeady got paid for the part.
Hello sir is the spring included with the knob from the dealer??
if you purchase the part it should include it. the worst case is you can use a pens spring.
what the hell HONDA!!!I just went out to back up my crv and SNAP! HOWWWWWW
you seen the Butterfly effect will this is the shift effect.
When will you do a video on how to clean the crv intake valve
when one pays me? its not broken or needs to be torn apart. do the Dealers tear them apart for a tune up?
Use Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner. It goes through the gas and the label claims to clean the combustion chamber and intake valves for DI. Another product is CRC turbo cleaner where you spray it in. Someone did a vid on the honda pilot
I have a 2004 with the same issue. Must be a issue with Honda’s I’m guessing - surprisingly even newer ones like yours...
thanks glad to hear its not just honda latest models.
2017 Honda SUV less than 1800 miles (that's right, stays in the garage as 2nd ride) and my gear shifter knob fell off; i definitely felt unsafe! ill be calling honda dealer tomorrow to get this crappy thing fixed.
I have the same issue with my Honda CR-V 2017 factory - what type of Honda do you have and also I called Honda no recall yet
I no longer have that problem
That broke on my moms crv, replaced it and for some reason it goes through all gears but won’t go into park
that nylon push rod is stopping it
@@fishycomics took it apart again and found a tiny piece of broken plastic hidden by the white grease from Honda
These fiddly jobs can be so annoying! And when you've spent hours getting it apart you often see theres a simple release - but you can only see it from the inside :)
exactly.
I just got mine replaced today at the dealer
He Fish I just found out the hard way that a 2017 CRV does not have a low wiper fluid light inside them, what a safety hazard
coming down a mountain in slush and sand can't see a thing wiper fluid mist just stopped no warning nearest gas station 10 miles away
Yep what a bummer, how things go today Imagine that, glad you are here to tell the story be Safe and be strong
Ok. So I called honda about the issue regarding the 2017 CRV. Turns out there's a recall. So no need to buy and fix. Have an appointment for them to replace it.
Glad you made an appointment, By the time ittakes you to get there, vs doing it yourself is the Option why I went my route.
@@fishycomics what if it broke aging in 2year? I'm hoping that the recall has made Honda rethink and install one that doesn't break so easily. Might be wishful thinking on my part .
HOW ABOUT HAVING A BULLET ALUMINUM PART MADE INSTEAD OF CHANGING OUT BROKEN PLASTICS EVERY TIME ????A C.N
C MACHINE CAN MAKE PART FOR SURE.
Exactly, one change , no issues so far.
I am going to talk to my buddy who can run his c.n.c machine for the stick shift push in part not sure if the ALUMINUM is a litte harsh for the Honda plastic parts inside???
I have this problem, and have the replacement parts, but I just can't manage to get the shift lever into that "below L" position. Anybody have any clues as to how you do that? "Up and down" doesn't seem to help. Does the ignition need to be on? Accessory mode? Pressure on the beveled vertical Teflon shaft? Help! :-)
Actually it does not have to be in the gear it is easier to work on if asked. Push on the car without the brake and you got it in acc mode then the gear can be moved with the press on the stem in the shaft
@@fishycomics Ah, it's probably the pressing down on the shaft I"m not doing enough of. Will give that a try. Thanks.
What worked for me:
Start engine, hold brake, put parking brake on and shift to L, stop engine.
Gently pry off plastic trim (#7 in the parts catalog diagram).
Remove two Phillips-head screws (#20 in diagram). Shift lever will then lift off vertically parallel to shaft.
Tap the handle to remove the broken piece(s); silicone grease will tend to retain them.
Put the new button in handle, stick handle back on the shaft, reinstall the screws, replace the trim piece.
www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~knob~assy~push~nh930l~high~gloss~silver~54132-tla-a62zb.html has the diagram.
I barely squeezed this and it just falls off?.....piece of crap!
Sorry to hear that, 3-D printing it sounds like.
