      Charcoal cooking is actually very easy with a short learning curve. Don't get a feel for it on salmon or New York strip. Pork steak and hamburger ( no leaner than 80%) turn out awesome. Hot dogs are the best test subjects,

    Nice video...
    I prefer to use old newspaper as fuel to ignite the charcoal on the chimney... as it has less chemicals, but using just two cubes and waiting for them to be consumed completely does the trick as well.
    My Kettle Grill has two years now and being used around 52 times per year and it is looking perfect... no wonder why it has such an extended warranty. Still I prefer my Summit as it can reach higher temperatures and it's cheaper to use... but the Kettle is more fun to use.

    • @midname420
      @midname420 3 роки тому +6

      Saying a 2000 dollar grill is cheaper than a grill starting at $165 for the 22" is foolish. If you use your grill 52 times a year and a whole bag of charcoal each time (you wouldn't) it would take you a little less than 4 years at $10 a bag of Kingsford 20lbs. If we follow Weber's recommendations of a 2 zone with 50 briquets, that weigh .9oz each, which comes out to 2.8lbs per setup, we we are looking at 7 uses a bag. So $1.5 a use. So it will take you $2000 - $165= $1835/$1.5 = 1223 uses. Or 23 years with 52 uses a year... Yea. Not cheaper all said and done.

    I have an 18-inch Weber Kettle Grill. About how many briquets should be used when grilling ONE steak? What advantage does the "chimney" have over placing the briquets directly on the grate then lighting them up?

    • @GrillwithWeber
      @GrillwithWeber  Рік тому +2

      Hi, great question! The easiest method for lighting any kind of charcoal is to use a chimney starter. When grilling, fill your Chimney Starter all the way to the top with charcoal (you can use less if you aren’t cooking as much food). For more information:

    I disagree on putting lid back on when cooking the steaks. The flame ups give the steaks flavor. If I going to use the lid might as well cook in the oven. Cook steaks on all 6 sides to a medium temp. Always spend little more time rendering the fat down

    • @Cici1791
      @Cici1791 Рік тому

      Agree, the carmelized fat is one of the best things about a chargrilled steak. The best steaks I've ever had were the ones my dad would make us as young kids on a cheap Hibachi grill (because he couldn't afford anything else). The grates of that grill could be moved to different levels, and the food cooked so close to the fire it was loaded with flavour and awesome caramelized crunchiness. The great grill experience was ruined when he moved up in life and was able to afford a luxury gas grill!
