No! I regret getting my Sigma 24-70 now. I loved it at first but because of the weight, I had to upgrade to a heavier duty gimbal which in turn made the whole setup heavier. And I'm a small guy. I wish I would have waited for this one

I really can't relate with you carrying a hefty lens which weights about 4 pounds only for 1 stop of more light, sacrificing the most useful dramatic wide end I do need! In every zoom lens I find the range coverage way more important than the brighter aperture. If the background blur is the matter, then that 28-70 f2 can't do anything as near as a f1.4 prime lens or even a 70-200 f2.8 lens with the same weight.🤷

I have the Sigma 24-70. It is hefty, but I’m so happy I went with it for my a7iii. I also have the Sony 28-70 kit lens that I can use if I need to save space, but it’s not my fav.
I would just use the lens correction profile to get straight lines. I guess it's not immediately available, but before it is you can make and use your own "rough correction profile".

A camera won't correct 3rd party lenses but once you load the files into lightroom, aren't there lens profiles to correct the distortion, making it a non-issue? (Even if the lenses are new there will eventually be profiles available I guess)

Dude. I opted for the Sigma Art and have gotten incredible results from it. In static situations. In sports photography, the zoom’s reverse twist from my GM’s lenses was a real problem for me. It’s a bit of a learning curve to zoom correctly. Since i shoot HS sports, I think if i had it to do over, I’d go with the GM. No YT reviewer addressed the reverse zoom of the Sigma vs GM phenomenon. Great video, though

@@the_mrkaryo I should say this is my first mirrorless and first mirrorless lens. I like it, it’s obviously a very good lens. It’s light and small which I preferred because I knew I was going to likely carry around multiple lenses. I did have some trouble with focusing, but I should also say since I’m new to the mirrorless game it’s honestly about 90% user error. However, yesterday I got the Sony 70-200 2.8 gm ii in the mail and although I was only able to take it out for a few minutes (I practiced on our 5 cats lol) I could tell immediately the difference between a good and a great lens. Obviously they’re different lenses in terms of focal lengths but you know what I mean. Another thing I’d mention is that it starting at 28 bothers me a little bit more than I thought it would, but now I have an excuse to get a prime wide lens. However if I was on a tighter budget I’d probably get something starting at 16 or at least 20 and try to stick to two lenses. I posted a few pictures on my instagram (it’s my name), if you’re wondering- they were taken in a tiny little house with barely any natural light and somehow I was able to get some insta worthy cat pictures 😅 I suppose to conclude the rant I’d get this lens if you either don’t need anything wider or don’t mind carrying multiple lenses around. Because I’m wondering, if I got a 20-70 (or even 17-70 etc) I probably wouldn’t even be thinking of getting another wider lens. So I saved some money (I got it for 200 off) and some weight and still got a perfectly good lens, but now I feel I need to spend more money and carry around more lenses/weight to get the kind of setup I want.

Just sold my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 after 2yrs for the Sigma "bigger brother" 24-70 f2.8 that 28 just got really on my nerve even tho I own the Tamron 17-28 f2.8 too, but if I really just wanna carry 1 lens I need that 24mm! also JARED what do you think of the 14-24 Sigma lens? is it worth the upgrade from the Tamron 17-28???
I paid like $240 more and got the Art lens, just for the better build quality and that 24mm at-hand range. The only annoying thing about the 24-70 is the lens hood. That rubbery-thingy on the bottom of it gets smudged and looks pathetic.
Just got the Tamron 28-75 in the mail yesterday...but am happy with the few tests I shot with it. Glad to know Tamron is a company with investing in (Sony lenses are expensive, and I didn't know this existed until now haha).
On the wide angle those 4mm really makes a difference. In small interiors, where you don't have much room to step back it can define whether you do photo or not. In this case it is 75 degrees on 28-70 versus 84 degrees on 28-70, it is a huge difference considering the number of mm.
@@bartomiejgoebiowski3614 Dude interior design photographers don't really use 24mm, they use anything from 12mm to 16mm. So your point although has a concept it isn't really valid regarding standard zooms.

The 28-70mm f2.8 is a great replacement for the Sony Kit lens. But probably won't do as well until there are more websites referring it as the "Best" 28-70mm lens for the Sony e-mount. Or if you're a photographer that used to have a 24-70mm f2.8 for your DSLR and upgraded to a Sony mirrorless, you may miss that extra 4mm on the wide end by going with the 28-70mm f2.8
I switched to 28. If you go hiking, tent, sleep bags etc, then 24-70 is the pain in the a**. Even so, I'm now preferring pancake lens with lower quality but fits in my larger pocket with the camera. :)

24-70 Art all the way. Fully weather sealed unlike the peasant 28-70. Wider unlike the peasant 24-70 and it's an Art lens, unlike the peasant Contemporary lens. There's not enough price difference to not get the better lens and while it's a chonky boy. It's very manageable as a single lens set up. Which is what I use on my A7ii.

I would go with Sigma 24-70 but the reverse zoom, dust issue and size & weight of it really prevents me from buying it but at the same time, it would be nice to have that extra 4mm on the wide end. I think Tamron 28-75mm G2 lens is much better if you don't care about the extra 4mm on the wide end.

24-70 is better by every means I don't think weight is an issue now a days even a cheaper gimbal can handle heavy weight as a videographer point of view.

Is the Tamrons full body protection a deal breaker against the Sigma?

too many sigma have the dust problem, a big mistake by Sigma, I don't know whether to choose the new Tamron G2 or the Samyang 24-70
