Tim Cook's pause after saying "iPad Mini" was such a tease. I actually really love the new Apple Pencil features and I'm bummed that they didn't/couldn't make the Apple Pencil Pro backwards compatible in any way. That being said, I'm excited for when the time comes for me to finally move on from my M1 iPad Air - even if that is still years from now!
Honestly all of us here were hoping for that mini too!
Right? The Pencil Pro looks very nice and I'd be tempted, but not enough to trade in my perfectly satisfactory iPad Pro M2.

I read that it’s because of the magnets for charging. They needed to rearrange these because of the camera move.

Well, that's a shame. Apple thought people needing the Pencil Pro would anyway. Those who take notes only would be perfectly fine with the Pencil USB-C.
I hear that it has to do with the new camera location and having to change the magnets/ charger on the pencil
I'm really willing to upgrade my iPad, I've been using the 2018 model for 5 years, it still works like new, but these new features got my attention, since I use my iPad most for art
Do it! I decided to upgrade from the 2018 pro also. This is the upgrade I’ve been waiting for. All the new features and the new OLED display in particular are a huge upgrade. I watch movies/HDR content, play games, and do school work with mine so I ordered the 11 inch with the new pencil and a new case. I cannot wait to see the huge improvement over the LCD screen. Animation will look freakn gorgeous as will everything else.

Please mention the weight on the magic keyboard once you get it. And can you flip it all around so you can leave the keyboard on in all possible positions? As of now, its No other keyboard option. With the Smart Keyboard folio you can flip it around as example.
Did the magic keyboard feel any lighter than the last version? I noticed on the site they didn't give the weight specs
I only held it with the ipad attached so I couldn’t say for sure! It did feel lighter overall for sure tho
I have looked forward to the new oled screen for years. I had a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" that I used more than any product I've ever had. But a few weeks ago, the display stopped working. I tried hard resetting, etc...nothing worked. It's dead. The backlight still works, just no display. I accidentally bent it a few times over the years by stuffing it into an overstuffed bag. I straightened it and it continued to work fine for years. I decided to wait until the iPad event to order a new one, but once I saw how thin the new 13" is, I decided to just get the 13" air because If I managed to bend the 2018 pro, the new 5.1 mm pro would be even more likely to bend. Gutted, but I hope the Air will not leave me disappointed. I have a MacBook Pro for anything serious anyway. My iPad was basically a content consumption device.

🔺The M4 chip in the 256 and 512 GB models is a binned whip with lower GPU and performance cores than getting an 1T or 2T model which has the fully unlocked M4 chip.

Great video, but this wasn't Apple's first UK event. They used to close off Regent St, when it had the cinema/big screen upstairs, and they did a fair few launch events there, think they did a few at Covent Garden as well when that was new. It was the first at their new HQ though.
Oooh maybe that was it then, they did keep saying it but must have been for the office!

I’m iPad all day. Love the new design. Macs have their place and always will. However as a windows users since the 2000’s the touchscreen experience for typing, piano, calligraphy, and learning to code throughout the app store app is so refreshing.

Still kept those thick Bezels though...I have to say it doesn't really bother me on my 2019 ipad pro.
There is no ipad pro 2019?, 2018 /2020,2021 and 2022, definitely no ipad pro 2019.
If the Pro is meant for graphic designers though I can see the Apple Pencil Pro features as being really nice upgrades, yet the Air is not the Pro and isn’t intended for graphic designers and artists, so the lack of support for the second gen pencil on the Air is pretty poor. Apparently it’s to do with moving the camera to the side, but this is a pretty lame excuse from Apple imo
Imo the new air is just as capable when doing design work as the other iPad pros. I’ve used a 2018 pro to create designs and illustrations for years without any issues. I prefer it over my Wacom/Mac set up. The new pro is much better for video and 3D model as that is much more intensive work. I understand the pen issue as there would be no way to charge it. They could release a redesigned 2nd gen pencil but that would be a waste as the pro pen does more. So you’d be stuck making another pen purchase anyway.

Good news on the iPad Air: £70 cheaper, twice the storage, and the upgraded processor. I'm a bit upset that my existing Apple Pencil Gen 2 won't work with it, but I can live with that. Also sad that the Smart Keyboard Folio is no longer available, but it looks as if the existing/previous Smart Keyboard Folios will work on the new iPad Air - the Smart Connector buttons appear to be in the same place on the new iPad Air. So I think this is the iPad for me - my use-case is primarily content consumption. I don't need an iPad pro - I have a 14" MacBook pro for content creation.

The first iPad I've ever bought was the 4th gen iPad air refurbished and a second-generation apple pencil also refurbished bought separately. I'm going to buy the new 11-inch iPad air with the new apple pencil pro trading in my current iPad the total price is cheaper than what I paid for my current iPad alone including tax.
Looking forward to trading in my M1 12.9 pro for the M4 13’ pro …should be a great upgrade!!😊
Upgrading from 2019 13” MBP to 13” M4 iPad Pro
It’s about time Apple got with the times and started using OLED screens. The one feature I really want is a digital clock built into iPad OS. I have no idea why that hasn’t been included yet.
They are often not the first with features , but their implementation is better than most.
@@peraman2022 The claim that the OLED panels in the iPad Pro can do SDR content a t1,000 nits and HDR at 1,600 nits is very impressive. Television manufacturers have been trying to do that for awhile, unsuccessfully. I also heard that the tandem OLED would also help to mitigate burn in. If both of these are true, I really hope the make a television with the same technology. I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I currently use a Samsung QD-OLED and it’s the best television I’ve ever owned. However, it does burn in due to its brightness which isn’t even close to 1,600 nits in HDR. I believe it’s around 800 nits peak brightness.

Sorry great video, but this announcement has left me with so many questions, both old and new re the iPad lineup. If there’s a Pro keyboard for the Pro only, then why is the Pro Pencil not for the Pro only? That would make things much clearer. There would be Pro accessories for the Pro models. Everything else uses the standard modes of the accessories.
