chaos +5 is connected from +9 to +15 normal titanite upgrade weapons. People who played through the Sen's Fortress are likely to pickup lighting spear +0 from a mimic, which is regarded as +10. So you will be able to invade people in Sen's and beyond; up to kiln of the first flame....
Can confirm that lore builds can be rough against 2-4 man groups, even at mid-soul levels. I largely agree about the matchmaking. I don't mind it, but it doesn't accomplish much. It honestly even seems pointless in the Burg. I got invaded on a SL3 character. The twink just had a Fire hand axe. Not a big deal. But they also appeared to have max armor upgrades and 99 soft humanity. It would have taken me 50-75 R1's to take him down, provided he never healed. If that's the outcome of all this, then what's the point? Just nuke me with a max upgrade Great Combustion and be done with it.
pincognito yeah the twinking gets ridiculous in dark souls remastered and to top it off there's the back stab fishing which they really need to tighten up a guy was beside me and managed to back stab me
Weapon matchmaking is basically irrelevant past Sen's Fortress/Anor Londo. There are two weapons that you can just pick up while PVEing that automatically make you match up against up to WL15 - Lightning Spear from the Mimic in Sen's Fortress (unupgraded Lightning weapons count as WL10) and the Occult Club that's in the chests with the Havel armor in Anor Londo (Occult weapons also count as WL10). In reality, there's no reason to ever really invade with less than WL10 unless you are specifically trying to invade brand new characters in the Undead Burg because there's a ton of weapons that when picked up count as WL5. If you have a WL5 weapon, you can be invaded by WL11. If you have a WL10 weapon, you can be invaded by max upgrade (WL15). You can get WL5 weapons in Undead Burg at the very beginning of the game - it's a joke of a system because if you don't want to instantly fight people around WL10 you need to be VERY CAREFUL about what you pick up and you need to skip killing every Black Knight - if they drop their weapon then you auto loot it, you don't even get a choice to not pick it up. It's a really dumb system that actually favors invaders. If you are running around in Undead Parish with a +0 weapon (because you haven't even gotten to Andre yet) but you got unlucky and looted Black Knight Sword... lol, enjoy fighting people with up to a +11 weapon. This system is actually much worse for co-op players who don't know the game in and out than it is for invaders.
rice worker it should be even no one game should belong to anyone yeah the ganks in ds3 were really bad but invaders in the remaster are essentially really powerful twinkers and the back stabs are ridiculous people want to argue something because it works in their favor but in reality it is a broken and unfair part of the game someone can get up close and be slightly beside your shield and it counts as a back stab it happened in this video so I know it's not just a few people that it affects
Elijah Howells yeah I know its bull shit but I rather get twinked one on one then get ganked 4 v 1 everytime, its like picking what poison to put in your self so in my opinion this system is better then 3 system.
Great video, Nyff! In my experience, I've found that the weapon upgrade matchmaking protects BRAND NEW players going through the Undead Burg/Parish and who don't know anything about the game. Once those players are above, I'd say, SL20 and have acquired either a twinkling weapon from the Black Knights or have upgraded their own normal titanite weapons through Andre to +5, they become fair game to +11 twinks. This is assuming that they didn't choose the Master Key as their starting gift though. The game has the preset path laid out for players that gets completely thrown out of the window once they have the Master Key. They could just skip their way to the Valley of Drakes from the very beginning. They can grab the Astora Straight Sword once they're there and get a handful of twinkling titanite from both the Burg and Darkroot Basin to upgrade that Astora SS to +3 (which is +11 for normal titanite weapons). This leaves them wide open to be invaded by fully upgraded twinkazoids. But at that point, the player who knows about the Astora SS and where to find it and where to get upgrade materials for it, isn't a new and innocent player. Thus, they will be invaded with extreme prejudice. I feel like QLOC or Bandai or whoever thought up this weapon upgrade matchmaking wanted to protect those first few hours of a player, who is completely fresh to Souls, for as long as they possibly could before the chaos of Dark Souls online had to inevitably take over.
I started a character tonight with the Master Key and grabbed the Astora Straight Sword. Used it to deal with a Gravelord after a few attempts, then got my first invader in the Undead Parish. Who do I get? A goddamn Giantdad. 🤣 That was fun in the brief moment it lasted.
I just discovered your videos (this one and the midkumo one specifically) and i really enjoyed it! The commentary is very interesting and the German-efficient builds are amazing. Just subbed, keep up the good work!
I fucking love this guy! Nyff, you're honestly so real when it comes to how you feel about Soul's PVP, and I appreciate that a fuck ton because I feel for you in every aspect and relate! INSTANT SUBSCRIPTION
I did a lot of PVP in DS3, however, never did PVP in 1, despite having hundreds of hours in it. With the remaster, I'm having so much more fun with invasions than in any other souls game. It's brutal and punishing, and a mistake means your death. In 3, invasions were great and fun, but it was just a battle of attrition. In DS1, an ambush matters, and evasion is so much more difficult. It's slower but faster at the same time. It's glorious.
Rocking the same setup on my mid levels. Tho I also like chaos bandit knife and chaos Lucerne. and hark dand ofc for afk ppl and for other shenanigans. Awesome video, nyff.
thanks for the mention Nyff and great vidya btw. I've been mainly playing at SL50 due to the only character I have, with zero poise, it's been a lot of fun and makes things like falchion hype to play around due to the infinite stun potential it has.
I don't think you mentioned str/dex only vit/end. I assume you have 16/12 to use claymore and Garg Halberd but I like to have one more point into dex because then you can use curved swords too such as Quelaags and Falchion which are strong in their own right and you would only need to take away 1 vit point to have access to that whole weapon class. Heck another dex point after that allows uchigatana if you want a chaos katana but I only have 16/13 on my build. Also have you considered lightning over Chaos? I know chaos gets slightly higher AR but most armors have much lower lightning defense than fire, especially popular pieces like Havels and Giants. Also have you considered dropping 2 points into attunement to be able to use black flame or power within? Think of the possibilities. Pyromancies don't need stat scaling just like elemental paths so one would think they go hand in hand with a build like this. I would love to hear your thoughts on possible variations like this of your build since you care about min maxing, and so do I when especially there is no respec option. Other than that the only annoying thing with a build like this is the farming since red slabs are limited to 2 a playthrough and red chunks are very tedious to farm. I think I have my Halberd and Claymore on lightning because after making chaos rapier I didn't want to farm any more red materials.
Demon's Spear is confirmed longest spear in the game Nyff, you're correct. All my sl50-70 builds are at +15 and honestly I haven't noticed a difference in number or speed of invasions I get at all, I often invade people who do little to no damage to me and are obviously not at max upgrade and certainly are not at softcap of their respective skill, I've noticed that dedicated gank squads in Anal Rodeo are also at +15 though, and often use chaos infusions more than co-op players, which is to be expected
Excuse me Nyff, if I could ask for a specific video. Ive been looking around for a long time and I really dont have any collection of what weapons do true combos. Your video with this claymore made me think about it how a claymore running attack combos to its r2 which combos to its r1 and honestly id like to know what else is possible so I can effectively pick a weapon and try to make a good build. I already know about some weapons having different swing speeds in the same class but then theres things like how I can get stunned by a falchion or gold tracer r1 spam and I cant even toggle escape, but these scenarios are also inconsistent, only about 40% of the time will I not be able to escape a curved sword r1 spam and im not sure why I cant escape in that scenario but others I can. I also know how the zweihander and greatsword stunlock with their r1s but then as I look around, I find a video like EWGF's from 2012 where he shows how infusions and upgrade level can actually change the stuntime, and then ive also seen the black knight ultra greatsword able to stunlock if you unlock and and hit the beginning part of the attack faster by angling yourself correctly. Id really appreciate it and I think other people would as well.
Yeah, now I'm a chaos weapon expert. ;) Chaos & lightning are the way to go for sure, esp at mid-level (though I've run into a few Havel + gold tracer builds at SL 50-ish). The other day I invaded somebody and my furysword wasn't doing any damage at all, and I couldn't figure out why. Later I realized the host knew what was up, and used Flash Sweat. Now I always have a backup lightning-infused weapon to deal with that strat.
Nice to see you enjoying the midlevel pvp Nyff I've been invading since day one at 57 and the fun I had is way higher in the first week than 3 months of ds3 prolly Yes, skilled ganks are basically unbeatable here, but they are rare, people mistake decent ganks with good ones imo Spawncampers, twinked monsters and lame hosts are common, ofc But I find them still better thab bonfire duellists or hiding hosts in archives
The weapon matchmaking doesnt really effect much for better or worse. Seems like the only thing to get screwed is the SL matchmaking. Darkmoons seems to be the ones to get screwed.
And you know what else is satisfying about goin mid lvl invasions every now and then? Raping those unfinished builds that you can CLEARLY tell, its going to turn into a dmb falchion, twop bead or a poise tracer hahahha so good
how often would 76 poise be helpful? just 1 point off with wolf ring swap. Would need 41 END with 92 total defense, 42 END with 110 defense, or 43 END with 173 defense.
Yeah nah people are still twinking in the burg since magic isn't effected by weapon match making you now see dark bead in the burg all the time, I myself have been invaded by a Havel monster with quelaags in the burg I could hardly scratch them and they fucked me up, and I'm getting twop dark bead spawn raped at sl65 so yeah still the mess it's always been
I also have lvl 60 twink build. I noticed your weapon even doesn't matter when it's Chaos +5 infused. I can 2-3 shot people and with enough poise to tank ultra weapon there's not any challenge. Of course, when I meet another twink build it's different. But still, I traded Giant dad build to death with my setup. Not much fun though, pressing R1 a few times and you win. (Lucerne)
Nyff! I'm putting together a large Dark Souls "win" montage and want to know if you want in? I'd pick out a fun clip of yours, and your name would be shown during that clip. Just let me know!
I really don't understand why they doesn't make it based on the weapon and armor level of currently in inventory (or dropped). I loved to do level 1 runs as challenge to myself and then liked to come to goof around with strange builds as invader. If I were invading in Burg I never used maxed weapons just some funny weps upgraded to level where it was viable. Sometimes I liked to go forest as lvl 1 and there I went as beefy as possible. I mean seriously it sounds even easier implementation to check your current gear and I see zero negatives on this style. Now I started lvl 1 unupgraded run but I got bored when I realised how limited my places of invade are gonna be.. it's basically around gargoyles and that's it.. so boring
Yo dude how would you do a good pyromancer in ds3? I wanna have spells for utility and damage but i wanna use a lotta weapons aswell the least i need is 21 strengt and 22 dex thanks dude if you see this
I wouldn't honestly. Especially not with stats spread that wide. You need 40/40 int and three ring slots (swamp, witch and sage ring) to make use of your pyromancies. And then you're not gonna use anything except Black Flame and Fire Surge, because everything else sucks. But that's just my opinion. Then again, I'm not much into caster builds, so you might wanna ask someone else who is.
@@Hura_the_BlessedVery late, but I main a pyro invader, SL 90. Saint Tree Bellvine gets rid of the need for Sage Ring, since it actually increases cast speed for EVERYTHING while it's out. This pairs well with a Demon's Scar or other flame if Blackflame is the only melee option you want. The downside is that now you can't swap to a shield, or a parry tool, or an off-hand weapon w/o losing your necessary high cast speed. Don't spread your STR and SKL that wide. Keep them as low as possible, picking staple weapons with low requirements. Longsword, dagger, demon's scar (though it needs a bit of DEX), etc. Chaos and Dark infuse your weapons. If you decide to use the Sage Ring +2, try using a fast weapon that can true combo into a blackflame from Parting Flame for massive damage. You're not going to have the stats for wielding high poise-weapons in high-poise armor most of the time. At SL 90, I feel you can 30/30 INT/FTH like a Dark meleer. The issue is that you'll be short on either HP or stamina, because you need to invest in attunement. If you go with the bellvine, the ring you swap out the sage for could include the Darkmoon ring, which helps grant more slots, but you still need a decent investment in Attunement for the FP. I run 24, but honestly these days I'm finding that a bit slim against the better players that have stayed behind. Black flame is the best pyromancy. It's mandatory. Flame surge is also mandatory in duels; I'm less certain of its essential nature in invasions, but it DOES have use there for annoyance factor. Getting people to commit to mistakes by pinging them over and over has great value. Chaos Bed Vestiges is probably next. It's wonderful when you can surprise bomb people, and also can punish whiffs with slower weapons like you'd do with a hadoken in Street Fighter. It will NEVER be as good for you as it is for gankers. Do not throw it willy nilly when you have a co-invader, you will kill them. Those are the big three, and given the limited room for attunement without cutting dangerously into HP I'd start there. Other spells that could prove useful are: black snake (against anyone who knows that they're doing, just tossing this out will kill you. Against good opponents, only use this as a mixup/oki tool after a knockdown or stun); Bursting Fireball (crap damage, but the wide spread has surprising use in catching several people AND it can even rollcatch!); toxic and poison mist (smokescreen and soft area denial); and utility sorceries/miracles (healing helps, Snap Freeze is arguably better smokescreen than the poison mists - anything else is rather niche. Don't go for damaging options that aren't status or Pestilent Mist, they'll utterly suck at a stat of 30 and no rings). Anything else is trending downward towards just utterly sucking. Honorable mention to Floating Chaos, though again it's much better for gankers. Sad mention to Flame Whip, which was a viable spell until From decided you couldn't pivot during the casting anymore. Try them out for funsies if you want, but overall they'll let you down more than they'll work out. Basically, you play like a Dark build, but with less armor, stamina, HP, and less room for STR/DEX invest for weapon variety in favor of having some of the utility and flavor spells grant. Given that you can easily get an annoyance/attrition range option from using a crossbow, whether that tradeoff is worth it is kinda shakey. Since I love spellcasters flavor-wise, I'm willing to make the trade. You can really mess up people not in the know with certain pyromancy setups too. However, straight up Dark quality build is a more stable choice.
We need more ruthless natzi efficiency , have you ever of The great club with crystal magic weapon and hornet ring and flipring with chainmail armor and momy mask?
"Wild West" is such a perfect and fitting term. When it comes to Dark Souls 1 I've always believed that to be the closest description. I only halfway agree with your disappointment about From trying to tame PvP in later games. I think _the way they went about it_ was pretty awful (basically nerf into the ground whatever the community is bitching hardest about) but in general I was happy that some of those changes did bring more variety onto the battlefield, and that non-meta builds could be sometimes taken as seriously as meta builds in Ds3 for instance. Meanwhile in Ds1 if you see someone PvPing with a Jagged Ghost Blade, or Claws in each hand, your first reaction is probably a heartfelt apology as you begin demolishing them o_o;; Thanks for sharing your insights as usual. Next I have to figure out how to coerce you into playing a non-meta weapon for our amusement ♪
Thank you, Schwa. And I don't think you'll have to coerce me, I'll get there myself as soon as I'll manage to brush off all the rust and I get more confident in my own skill. Might take a little time though.
this came up in my recommendations and damn, this is why i only go human when kindling bonfires. The most i get into my build is pumping health stamina and a damage stat and then picking a weapon with a moveset i like that corresponds with that stat. it works fine in PVE but when i do get invaded after kindling, i can get 2-3 hits in on someone and they just one shot me
OK, I tried this build out some and I changed it a bit: Mainly, I swapped one point in VIT and one point in END for 2 points in Attunement and got Black Flame. If you swap Havel's Gauntlets for Giant's Gauntlets, you can use Max pyro glove and Heater Shield over Leather Shield. And hooo boy, shit's really OP. Black Flame from a max pyro glove fucking DESTROYS people at this level. Almost nobody you invade has more than maybe 1100 HP, and even that is kind of rare. Raw Black Flame hits most people for about ~500 or so and chips thru most common shields quite a bit (a lot of people don't have their shield upgraded so it damn near ALWAYS guard breaks). Most people also don't have 60 poise unless they're using Wolf Ring at this level so it's just an absolute beast. It sucks not to have the kick => BF combo (lol 13 dex) but Black Flame is so busted. The only downside is that if you run this setup without Wolf Ring, you lose the poise you need to tank 2h Katana running R1s and the breakpoint for Curved Sword 2h R1 (and some spear 2h R1s, but that's not that common honestly). The loss of the Katana running attack poise sucks because that gives a free 2h R1 followup, but the breakpoint for Curved Swords is actually bad if you can only tank one (latency makes it almost impossible to toggle if the 2nd R1 staggers but not against the first and third - so poising thru 1 R1 is actually bad against stuff like Gold Tracer and Falchion, although not Quelaags). Even though I have Hornet Ring, flip ring, etc I've found that just sticking with Wolf Ring is so good that I've rarely ever bothered switching it - basically only against thrust sword or spear turtles. If you stick with Wolf Ring then the poise loss when swapping to Giant's gloves doesn't cost you any breakpoints (I guess technically you can't poise thru 2 Greatsword 1h R1, but those don't combo anyways). And having Heater Shield over Small Leather is nice too - bit less chip damage and better Stability. So yeah, Black Flame is retarded, news at 11.
It's not the weapon matchmaking that's the problem. It's the completely dismantled invasion range on the Blue and Red Eye Orbs. Used to be With the Red you could invade ANYONE higher level than you. And as a Blue you could Be high level and still invade the meta, or be level 80 and still invade and punish SL1 Griefers. Now you're locked into such a small level pool. Players that decide to keep leveling up are getting cut off from the bulk of the player base and low level builds are no longer able to invade those max level or meta level players. That was what was so fun about invading in this game is you never knew who you were gonna get.
So, weapon matchmaking.. To prove a point, i'm running a SL13, Scimitar+4 with Great Magic Weapon from an Oolacile Catalyst in the Burg (GMW + Power Within for Bosses, mainly 4 Kings, is more than enough for an experienced player) instant invasions with a twinkbuild in the game's first area, good job FROM SOFT.. :D
I got invaded by someone with the qualeog fury sword boss weapon and I was at the gargoyle boss fight and he one shot me and I’m pretty sure my weapon at most was +4 and I assume it’s because I got some black knight weapons that I couldn’t even use because of my stats were high enough yet I was like lvl 22ish
The "Weapon-Based Matchmaking" essentially doesn't apply except for very low levels. I have a SL50 build for the Arena, and it gets consistent invasions with max weapons even in Sens and Darkroot Garden. Funnily enough, I just started invading with a SL60 Midkumo build and it's absolutely disgusting. Can't midroll with Giants, but I can get 54 poise with a free ring slot for Hornet or whatever, with physical defense over 360.
Use giant chest giant legs knight gloves for 62 poise - lets you tank anything except a UGS R1, which why would you tank that instead of roll BS or parrying anyways. Way better IMO.
I'd have to go 27vit/35End to be able to midroll in that while carrying a Kumo and the Heater Shield. (FaP setup, not Havels) 61 is an important number, but if I need the poise I'll swap to the Wolf Ring and be able to tank 3 2hR1 from light weps.
Just to put it out there, by the time people reach Anor Londo everyone has at least +10 weapon. That's why weapon matchmaking didn't affect you at all.
Hey man, just now saw your comment. Nice of you to check after me, and there's no need to worry or anything. I'm still playing Souls games, I'm still lurking on YT, Twitch and Reddit, I just have been feeling like keeping a low profile for a while. No particular reason and nothing bad happened, I just needed some gaming and leisure time on my own. I have now amassed some footage that I want to do something with, we'll see. So you might hear from me again sooner or later. Really enjoyed your sodium chronicles btw. Great music, great plays. I'm really proud of the community, especially people like you, oldrabidone, amish, saint, etc. who keep the Souls flame lit. Keep it up m8!
@@Nyffenschwander Glad you're well! I'm happy you enjoyed the salt series! Always like your content so I'm sure whatever it is you're cooking is gonna be great!
After playing the game for a bit, I think the match-making isn't an issue for you because of the game's design. True, at max weapon upgrade you only get matched with players at +11 or higher, but due to the weapon pick-ups, this mostly isn't an issue. In Sen's Fortress, the lightning spear will put you at +11. In Anor Londo, the Occult Club will also put you at +11. Unless players have the situational awareness to avoid these weapons (unless they're already at that upgrade level, which is pretty unlikely, especially at Sen's), they're opening themselves up to predators such as yourself. On my playthroughs, I now purposefully avoid those weapons, and come back later if I want them.
Also one nit to pick: "Souls games have always been the wild west when it comes to PvP. Anything goes, everything's broken, and nothing is to be taken seriously." I think DS 3 did an awful lot to reduce that. Sure, it wasn't always balanced - but how could it be? Balancing a game that could just as easily have a 1v1 as a 2v2 as a 4v1 isn't a trivial task. But, DS 3 was tolerably close, and it makes the unfairness of many DSR encounters bite a bit harder because of it.
Jdkdkddjfjj Nfnfkkdkd I made almost the same build on day one (30 vit 40 end tho, picked up every item (it was a mule character) and finished vanilla ds1 in 9 hours and DLC by the 13th one This setup is the most "broken" one for pve, you you can breeze through areas since the beginning if you know where to go and what to pick up at the beginning
With this one, I stayed in NG, so it took me, I don't know, 4-5 hours probably. My SL 125s I usually take to NG+, and then I often need 10 or so hours to complete them.
You might wanna take a look at this. The matchmaking range is not as limited as expected: www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/8s2n85/i_thoroughly_tested_soul_level_and_weapon_level/
Mid levels a blast, I agree. I’ve a sl45 for some fun at Sen’s and a sl60 for Anal Rodeo for some gank spanking. Can’t imagine how frusterating and cancerous meta level must be, all the more respect for those who do it without broken builds.
all those ganker host disconnect when the phantoms are gone... not one were i could finish him.. yeah its a challenge but a challenge that is already won when i see 3 phantoms and a host... 6 man player was a mistake nonetheless
Fun and games! Working how ever you intended hehe only in Dark Souls! and I gotta say I feel ya on that twitchy eye syndrome for perceiveably wasting a single stat point hehe creating and optimizing builds is half the fun of this game imo
The thing is when making this "remaster". They found out how much of this game was really broken and thought. " Fuck It!!!!!!! Not dealing with this SHIT!!!"
Having 35 poise seems really terrible. You are only 1 point away from the break point at 36 and 76 with wolf ring. The one at 76 is particularly important because its for 2 handed ultras.
76 poise is pretty meaningless since you don't wanna trade with ultras anyway. Important poise breakpoints are 31 for 2h katana/curved sword r1s and 32 for 2h katana running r1s. Anything above that is highly optional since you can toggle escape.
I played DS1 after DS2 which was my first souls game. So the game was mostly dead. I didn't understand Chaos infuse back then. My god it's so OP for low level. Got invaded by a +5 Zwei with Chaos and he 2 shot me when I had 21 vit at level 20
I have never liked DS1 pvp, so guess what? I don't play it. And I didn't buy the remaster because for me there is no point, if I want to play the game again I still have PTDE. You are absolutely right, if people so not like DSR pvp then they need to play another game. People like DSR PVP for the jankness. The game is obviously doing well and PVP is active again so people just need to learn to accept it for what it is, it ain't gonna change. Heck, it barely changed as it is with the remake. I think removing TWOP and make making Ash Lake a PVP zone would have been good changes to make for DSR, what do you think Nyff?
Ashen Lake as a PvP zone would be godly. And eh, as far as I'm concerned, they can leave the game as it is in terms of balance. There are some new animation bugs when kicking and rolling with flip ring that need some sorting out, otherwise I'd prefer it if they just left the game in the state it is in now. As I said, it's broken, it's stupid, and I love it just the way it is.
While I would never claim dark souls being anything but broken, I do wonder if your conclusions are really right- Remaster or not, it's not a new game, so we could assume that most of players do know how and where upgrade their weapons early. True- pvp players usually either twink or go more a less for meta. So what would do typical pve'r do, to avoid most of invader traffic? Upgrade his or her's weapon so it wouldn't match with most assumed upgrade level for their souls level (which will aso give them advantage in their beloved pve)- You say you have full chaos infused armory, and you shouldn't be able to match with so many people at mid level range if the matchmaking would work like it should- It might be true, but it's also possible that it's just how many players just are overequiped for their levels, since there aren't really any news in remaster. :) or yeah, upgrade system in ds1 is more complicated than in later games, so copy-paste didn't work somehow :v
The broken PvP is fine as long as you don't force it on people that want to just PvE with co-op, have the ability of reading other player messages or just keep their system online&signed-in to do other things like download stuff. If you are forcing it on everyone, then the PvP better be a masterful class in fairness and balance. As it stands, it sacrifices the many to benefit the few (trolls).
"it's almost like the pvp is an unbalanced mess" Yeah, that's why it's pretty much the last fun multiplayer experience still available. Three games later and it's still completely unmatched.
While the weapon matchmaking is honestly pointless and doesn't really do anything it's the change of not being able to invade infinitely up anymore that bothers me more. Once the game dies down, I feel like this change will end up hurting the games longevity and cut down on potential encounters compared to the original dark souls. Anyways, complaints aside, nice vid as always nyff.
The issue with the weapon matchmaking is the opposite of what you're talking about. Twinking is a major issue. It just feels unfair and it's irritating to die to someone with a full set of giants and +5 estus with a chaos weapon. It's basically cheating.
So you exchanged getting TWoP/Dark Bead ganked at meta level for getting TWoP/Dark Bead ganked by overlevelled phantoms? :^) I kid, low SL invasions are where its at, so much more fun. EDIT: I'm fairly sure people are complaining about weapon matchmaking because it is TOO lax, rather than not being lax enough. EDIT 2: Blues still think they're meant to attack reds? Stupid as ever, I see.
the problem with the matchmaking system is that it is completely pointless... it doesnt prevent anything it just shortens the invasion window and that hurts pvp by lot... dsr pvp won't last as long as og ds1.. the old system was way better
Well to be fair, DSRs PvP won't last that long anyway since its literally the same game again, everybody knows what is good already and as a result the lifespan of the game will get hurt quite a lot.
Nyff wasnt really meant for you but for the people scrolling through the comments.. i have so many build ideas on different sl i am overwhelmed... always glad to see different ideas so i am looking foward to your brxt videos
Honestly ds1 is so boring compared to ds3 for pvp. Its like theres no actual meta and now bs takes wayyy less skill than in ds3 and the tech is so weird compared to what i learned in ds3. Ahh guess im just a noob who needs to adapt
Gulrez syed because new players have no idea how to counter it and would rather complain than learn to play this game's PvP. Dark souls 3 has much easier PvP; just R1, roll 15 times without even using up half your stamina bar, and chug estus.
I wouldn't call it "your" setup even if you were the first to use it, it's a minmax setup, the result of a simple calculation. I wouldn't call the chain/kngiht/havel mom setups "anyone's" setup in particular either.
Yeah people need to chill with "THIS GAMES PVP IS TRASH FIX IT!!!" Ok? Go play another game don't ruin everyone elses fun. Other than that spawm twops are the reason i'm considering a build geared towards WoG dammage.

Nyff So it's okay to run with maxed chaos weapons instead of stopping at Chaos 0 or 1+?
chaos +5 is connected from +9 to +15 normal titanite upgrade weapons. People who played through the Sen's Fortress are likely to pickup lighting spear +0 from a mimic, which is regarded as +10. So you will be able to invade people in Sen's and beyond; up to kiln of the first flame....
Vladislav Glad Thank you my good sir!
Just nuke me with a max upgrade Great Combustion and be done with it.
pincognito yeah the twinking gets ridiculous in dark souls remastered and to top it off there's the back stab fishing which they really need to tighten up a guy was beside me and managed to back stab me
Very true.
Dan Lorett good, fuck the co-opers,those bastards had enough shit favoring them in 3 now it's the invaders turn
rice worker it should be even no one game should belong to anyone yeah the ganks in ds3 were really bad but invaders in the remaster are essentially really powerful twinkers and the back stabs are ridiculous people want to argue something because it works in their favor but in reality it is a broken and unfair part of the game someone can get up close and be slightly beside your shield and it counts as a back stab it happened in this video so I know it's not just a few people that it affects
Elijah Howells yeah I know its bull shit but I rather get twinked one on one then get ganked 4 v 1 everytime, its like picking what poison to put in your self so in my opinion this system is better then 3 system.
'It's as stupid as it is amazing'

Your opinion is so refreshing after seeing nothing but complaining from everyone.
I fucking love this guy! Nyff, you're honestly so real when it comes to how you feel about Soul's PVP, and I appreciate that a fuck ton because I feel for you in every aspect and relate! INSTANT SUBSCRIPTION
This is so confusing. Why are you not complaining? Why do you see differently than the others? How dare you?!
Just learned about your vids from saint, and the intro starts with Make Them Suffer? That's an instant sub. Nice gameplay and commentary.
Great comment and power within is flat out op in this game.
My reaction - "what the hell are chaos weapons?"
FML I have so much to learn. Great video, gave me a lot to research.
iamamish oh boy oh boy have you got some fun in store for you
Yeah, now I'm a chaos weapon expert. ;)
Chaos & lightning are the way to go for sure, esp at mid-level (though I've run into a few Havel + gold tracer builds at SL 50-ish). The other day I invaded somebody and my furysword wasn't doing any damage at all, and I couldn't figure out why. Later I realized the host knew what was up, and used Flash Sweat. Now I always have a backup lightning-infused weapon to deal with that strat.
Nice to see you enjoying the midlevel pvp Nyff
I've been invading since day one at 57 and the fun I had is way higher in the first week than 3 months of ds3 prolly
Yes, skilled ganks are basically unbeatable here, but they are rare, people mistake decent ganks with good ones imo
Spawncampers, twinked monsters and lame hosts are common, ofc
But I find them still better thab bonfire duellists or hiding hosts in archives
thanks for putting low soul level invasions back in my mind cause meta level is S T R E S S
The weapon matchmaking doesnt really effect much for better or worse.
Seems like the only thing to get screwed is the SL matchmaking. Darkmoons seems to be the ones to get screwed.
Nyff, is your into the intro to Widower by Make them Suffer? The music I mean.
Yeah nah people are still twinking in the burg since magic isn't effected by weapon match making you now see dark bead in the burg all the time, I myself have been invaded by a Havel monster with quelaags in the burg I could hardly scratch them and they fucked me up, and I'm getting twop dark bead spawn raped at sl65 so yeah still the mess it's always been
Jesus haha
at SL 90 do you match with meta SL or lower SL?(I'm thinking about making a SL 90 build and I'd like to know what to expect)
If you're an invader the upper limit is 10% + 20 levels iirc so that would mean you can invade up to sl119
thanks
Sounds great! Thanks for having me in that!
still waithing for your next meta soul level character in 2021
Nyff, do you typically invade as a Darkwraith in DSR?
Also, I’d be interested to hear more about your armor choice for this build, specifically why the Black Sorcerer Cloak
Now I started lvl 1 unupgraded run but I got bored when I realised how limited my places of invade are gonna be.. it's basically around gargoyles and that's it.. so boring
still can't wait for the next build
Nyff thanks dude no problem
We need more ruthless natzi efficiency , have you ever of The great club with crystal magic weapon and hornet ring and flipring with chainmail armor and momy mask?
whatever happened to this guy?
"Wild West" is such a perfect and fitting term. When it comes to Dark Souls 1 I've always believed that to be the closest description.
I only halfway agree with your disappointment about From trying to tame PvP in later games. I think _the way they went about it_ was pretty awful (basically nerf into the ground whatever the community is bitching hardest about) but in general I was happy that some of those changes did bring more variety onto the battlefield, and that non-meta builds could be sometimes taken as seriously as meta builds in Ds3 for instance. Meanwhile in Ds1 if you see someone PvPing with a Jagged Ghost Blade, or Claws in each hand, your first reaction is probably a heartfelt apology as you begin demolishing them o_o;;
Thanks for sharing your insights as usual.
Also what twop?
Ive heard of pretty much all the other shortened versions of things in the game but not that.
tranquil walk of peace
this came up in my recommendations and damn, this is why i only go human when kindling bonfires. The most i get into my build is pumping health stamina and a damage stat and then picking a weapon with a moveset i like that corresponds with that stat.
it works fine in PVE but when i do get invaded after kindling, i can get 2-3 hits in on someone and they just one shot me
OK, I tried this build out some and I changed it a bit:
Mainly, I swapped one point in VIT and one point in END for 2 points in Attunement and got Black Flame.
Andreas Schuster
SL1 with +5 weapons including ghost blades here. Did 4 kings with no spells cuz I'm cooler than you.
❤ stealing this, starting my new journey today
I’ve been invading at SL 50 myself in Anal Rodeo and the forest. Surprisingly more hatemail at that level range than at Meta.
great video bro
what’s your stats?
I've been making my vit 35 around 1300 hp since highest back stab I've seen lately are around 1100-1200
35 vit at what level?
RandomGypsy lvl 80 build str fth is the next I'm working on
Hey man haven't heard from you in a while, hope you're doing well! :)
Why do people use Soulsplanner instead of MugenMonkey nowadays?
Aero MugenMonkey puts it at the max upgrade level for that upgrade path.
Also one nit to pick:
"Souls games have always been the wild west when it comes to PvP. Anything goes, everything's broken, and nothing is to be taken seriously."
I think DS 3 did an awful lot to reduce that.
How long did it take to make this build ?
Jdkdkddjfjj Nfnfkkdkd I made almost the same build on day one (30 vit 40 end tho, picked up every item (it was a mule character) and finished vanilla ds1 in 9 hours and DLC by the 13th one
This setup is the most "broken" one for pve, you you can breeze through areas since the beginning if you know where to go and what to pick up at the beginning
With this one, I stayed in NG, so it took me, I don't know, 4-5 hours probably. My SL 125s I usually take to NG+, and then I often need 10 or so hours to complete them.
No next build :(
You might wanna take a look at this. The matchmaking range is not as limited as expected:

rest in peace
Mid levels a blast, I agree. I’ve a sl45 for some fun at Sen’s and a sl60 for Anal Rodeo for some gank spanking. Can’t imagine how frusterating and cancerous meta level must be, all the more respect for those who do it without broken builds.
I miss your videos :(
all those ganker host disconnect when the phantoms are gone... not one were i could finish him..
yeah its a challenge but a challenge that is already won when i see 3 phantoms and a host...
6 man player was a mistake nonetheless
btw, spawn campers are most common in township and the forest.. everywhere else they are rare
there wasn't an upper limit in sl in the original so to have at least one max weapon was mandatory
tranquil walk of death build when.
Well said
Fun and games! Working how ever you intended hehe only in Dark Souls!
and I gotta say I feel ya on that twitchy eye syndrome for perceiveably wasting a single stat point hehe creating and optimizing builds is half the fun of this game imo
Why 13 dex? Looks like Gargoyle Halberd has a 12 dex requirement
giant woman for qfs swap. He says as much while in anor londo
This build is crazy good but add 2 slots for pyro and upgrade a chaos dagger for one shots lmao
Mid lvl is almost as much fun as over level. I do enjoy blowing the minds of the giant Havel mages and being accused of hacking.
I played DS1 after DS2 which was my first souls game. So the game was mostly dead. I didn't understand Chaos infuse back then. My god it's so OP for low level. Got invaded by a +5 Zwei with Chaos and he 2 shot me when I had 21 vit at level 20
"twop gets on my nerves" join the club lol
RUTHLESS GERMAN EFFICIENCY
As a wise aftican general once said "you either bask in its ridicoulus glory or complain about it online."
😊
Momma mask?
"it's almost like the pvp is an unbalanced mess"
Yeah, that's why it's pretty much the last fun multiplayer experience still available.
Sl60 with over 40 vit and enough end for mid roll is way better.
The issue with the weapon matchmaking is the opposite of what you're talking about. Twinking is a major issue. It just feels unfair and it's irritating to die to someone with a full set of giants and +5 estus with a chaos weapon. It's basically cheating.
1:40 dude why your the one tryharding and using weapons beginners probably dont even know that exist.
gaуcrαb if they don't know about three weapons, all of which are seen out in the open and before sens fortress then they do know now 😂
Candy Texture well, using chaos wich u should unlock at lost izalith then.
My giant blacksmith hammer still 2 hits baby's in the burg. Lul
So you exchanged getting TWoP/Dark Bead ganked at meta level for getting TWoP/Dark Bead ganked by overlevelled phantoms? :^)
I kid, low SL invasions are where its at, so much more fun.
If you cant beat them, then why aint you joining them?
Who says I'm not? :) Just wait for the new build I talked about at the end of the video.
Nyff wasnt really meant for you but for the people scrolling through the comments.. i have so many build ideas on different sl i am overwhelmed... always glad to see different ideas so i am looking foward to your brxt videos
The weapon matchmaking system is a joke, if someone enters sens fortress and picks up lightning spear its gg, they are now matched with +15
Honestly ds1 is so boring compared to ds3 for pvp. Its like theres no actual meta and now bs takes wayyy less skill than in ds3 and the tech is so weird compared to what i learned in ds3. Ahh guess im just a noob who needs to adapt
when you start to understand the tech you gonna love it... way better then ds3. pls dont compare ds3 with ds1 =P =D
Jnigo寒意 you see very less Backstab fishers in ds3 because that takes some effort but in Remaster everyone now is a b.s fisher, lol I wonder why
Gulrez syed because new players have no idea how to counter it and would rather complain than learn to play this game's PvP. Dark souls 3 has much easier PvP; just R1, roll 15 times without even using up half your stamina bar, and chug estus.
Whiterun Guard lol this is so untrue ds3 is alot more complex than that. I urge you to come and show me how easy it is. Literally a pontiff random lol
Jnigo寒意 "complex" I dont know about that bud
German?!?
I mean the fashion and chaos weapons are REALLY boring and generic but it's aight
Get Tekken, brah
Y tho?
You unadded from steam my ninja, I'm taco taco burrito
>Uses my setup
>Doesn't even mention my name once, despite talking about the build for 5 minutes :(
neptunusequester >robsmashed
>"your" setup
OG japanese players want a word with you.
I am the OG Japanese player :(
You’re not OG japanese player, you weeb smh
I wouldn't call it "your" setup even if you were the first to use it, it's a minmax setup, the result of a simple calculation. I wouldn't call the chain/kngiht/havel mom setups "anyone's" setup in particular either.
Yeah people need to chill with "THIS GAMES PVP IS TRASH FIX IT!!!" Ok? Go play another game don't ruin everyone elses fun. Other than that spawm twops are the reason i'm considering a build geared towards WoG dammage.
12 wog build with 50 fth destroys spawn ganks
JunoJupiter GLRR 12 wogs?? LOL seems like overkill! No kill like it tho.
Arc Hale ua-cam.com/video/r7MhDEdys8o/v-deo.html
Seems like fun
JunoJupiter GLRR Thank you for bringing this to my attention. OuO
Finally someone with some sense. DkS3 had garbage PvP in comparison.
This game is so bad.
