In Dark Souls you should always have some pyromancy, spells or miracles with you. Pyromancies are great because they don't require any stat investment. - WoG and Fire tempest/Chaos storm are great against gank squads. - Always wear at least Wolf ring to have some poise. There's no such thing as too much poise (except above 76), but the usual poise breakpoints PvP builds meet is 53, 61 or 36. - Even with pure strength builds you should have a light and fast weapon at hand so you're not as predictable and easily punished when an invasion occurs. It doesn't have to be the greatest weapon ever, even elemental weapons and weapons like Demon's Spear and Quelaag's Furysword are good enough. - Upgrade your shield for better stability. Have a shield at hand that can block magic damage. - Don't rely on lock-on too much. This is true for PvP and especially for PvE. Solid lock-on toggle technique is one of those things that separates experienced players from noobs or otherwise bad players. - To counter Gold Tracers just use a spear and keep your distance. - Learn to toggle-escape. - Learn to avoid backstabs. - Sort your inventory and learn to hotswap. - Don't be predictable. - Spacing is important.
Can I add something even if I’m late AF ? Want to become a PVP machine ? Avoid everything listed here. You’ll get to the core of the PVP in a couple days. This is good for every player who likes to play with unique/non-optimised builds but still wanna be competitive. In DS1 it’s possible, do it.
If you're new this probably the best pvp video you could watch still to this day, as a vet my tip would be to try and keep best control of the fight as you can if you control the pace of the fight you're a lot more likely to win

Chaos Gargoyle Halberd at SL 55 is top tier. 27-28 STR for Man Serpent and Great Club is also very strong. I can't seem to make any int or faith builds though, just some pyromancy. I suggest Black Flame over Great combustion btw in a gank, the extra poise damage has saved me countless time, and you can black flame stagger into Backstab and use that Backstab as an against the gank.
Great video, but I thought I should add this: At SL55 invasions, don't forget that your weapon level should be around +11. +11 can invade down to +5 which majority of players should be at by then. Going higher risks losing all the pve players.
Gahfa There is pretty much no way people who get to Anor Londo haven't picked up the Lightning Spear or Crystal Halberd on the way, which puts them into max WL bracket.
Nyff I forgot about that, since I stopped picking up most items after my first few playthroughs. I guess +15 is pretty safe then since the player base is pretty active now
A big majority of my builds have been centered around dueling, but I've never really thought if it would help in gank situations. I'm want to start a new build that mini maxes melee weapons and does heavy damage with Intelligence and Faith. Would Chaos and Raw infusions do me any good? I plan to be able to at least use most Dex weapons and one hand the Great Club
neptunusequester I was trying to use Raw so I can use buffs like Sunlight Blade and still do decent damage without Stat scalings, idk if Raw weapons can be buffed though, so I thought Chaos at first, thanks for the advice
Chaos scales with how much Humanity you have while removing all other scaling from your current weapon. It's why the "cancerous" GiantDad build maxes out VIT and END but only puts min required stats into Str/Dex to use the chaos infused Zweihander. If you want a chaos build, get the min requirements to use the weapon you want, but farm humanities from the sewer rats in the Depths. If you want an INT or a FTH build, I would suggest crystal infused or lightning infused, respectively. Of course, with a FTH build you can get a weapon and apply the Lightning Blade buff. In that case, just take it up to the normal +15. I haven't used LB, though, so I don't know if it's better than the lightning infusion. I do think raw infusions do actually allow you to apply buffs, though. I just wouldn't suggest it as other infusions tend to be better in my experience. Lastly, if you're going for a STR+INT build, get the Moonlight Greatsword and level STR and DEX only up to min requirements to use the weapon. MLGS damage only scales with INT. I know this reply is long, but I hope it helps!
@Hermes play whatever build you like, but you might want to pick between int and faith if you also want to melee. It's not that your weapon won't do damage - it will. A +5 chaos zwei is gonna hit just as hard wielded by a mage as wielded by a giant dad. But giant dad is gonna be maxing his vit, end and poise - something you're going to have to skimp on if you want truly heavy damage with your int/faith. For the build you're talking about, you'd need 28 str for the great club. I don't know what level of dex meets your requirements for 'most' dex weapons but it's going to be between 13 and 20 probably. You're going to want to level vit and end if you're planning on melee. "Heavy damage" on int and faith requires substantial investment in both _and_ you're probably going to give a ring slot to bellowing dragon crest ring. To use WotG that's going to mean at least 28 faith, 30 if you want SLB. 16 int is all it takes to use dark bead, but at the level you're going to be at to do all these things the damage may underwhelm you. Might as well shoot for 44 so you can use CSS. Don't forget to level attunement to 16 so you can carry all these spells at once. For 28 str, 20 dex, 16 attn, 44 int, and 30 fai the _bare minimum_ SL is going to be 83. That's with base health and stamina on a sorcerer, enough to ensure you'll be 1 shot by a gust of wind at that SL. SL 125 gives you roughly 40 points to allocate as you see fit between vit and end. Unless you're an absolute maverick at pvp you're gonna struggle with a build like this. You'll be squishy like a mage but without doing proper mage damage. Your melee survivability will be below average so trading hits would not be recommended, yet you want to use the great club so good luck with that. What you're talking about isn't a min/max build, it's a jack-of-all-trades build. You'll spread yourself too thin, and end up either overleveled or underpowered at meta level. Think of it this way - as cool as it is to be able to do different things on the same character, you can only attack with one thing at a time. When you're swinging your sunlight blade buffed greatclub, every point you put into int and dex is wasted. While you're swinging your crystal magic weapon buffed katana, all the points you put into strength and faith are wasted.
redrounin I think what Hermes was thinking about DS3 scaling when he made his comment. Hermes, basically, Chaos builds in DS1/R don't rely on leveled attribute scalings, so don't worry about them. A good way to build in really any DS game is to take a weapon or two that and build around it/them. Ex: Crystal Greatclub and MLGS with a STR/INT build with some points in attunement for spells.
I’m still somewhat new to your videos and have watched at least a dozen of them. I really like the depth you get into. Question: How did you cancel the animation of getting backstabbed? Does it have anything to do with swapping your head gear?
If you trigger a backstab against your opponent the moment they backstab you, it'll cancel out. That's the most common way, at least, and it's not a thing you do on purpose it sort of just occurs.
Can somebody please share more details on 'counting poise'? I presume this is tracking when you will break your opponent's poise with a successful attack. However, all I can find is the poise breakpoints for which attacks you can tank - one time - at a given level of poise. Are there more detailed guides that tell me how *many* attacks you can tank at a given level of poise? Also, how do you know how much poise your opponent has? Is it simply knowing the armor well enough to be able to count up your opponent's total poise value?
I personally think that combos are amazing even in 1 vs 2 or 3 Because if you can distance properly and Agro break or even just time any thing well enough combos are your best friend for quicker kills

Planning on using Great Club for invasions at 120, would I be better of damage wise using Enchanted +5 or +15/resin or buff? Would either benefit more from the hornet ring as well? AR calculators give pretty good numbers either way and I'm new to invasions but currently am leaning towards +15.
Depends on your stats. Enchanted isn't really that good, Great Club outside of +15/Crystal is trash anyway. Get 28STR and 2H it, with Hornet ring it will 1hko 80% of ppl.
No what was annoying I was able to kill one of the phantoms then no joke like 13 seconds later the same guy was summoned again it’s stupid and I feel like it’s unfair and I had like 2 etus and they had a lot of healing and I would just get back stabbed when ever I tried to fight one

Chaos? Yes. Raw? No. Also melee weapons aren't really compatible with int/fth setups :/

I mention in it my backstab guide, attacks do cancel the BS pull, so if you R1 your opponent while he is pulling you into the BS it will get canceled.

I was playing this one hit kill boi at lvl 60 with the ring thats buff ur atack when low life. Now I shall get him to 120 and make ''da dastroyar''
at 120 you'll be sniped easily and hardly get a chance to pull it off. Go for chaos into hornet or crystal/hornet for mad 1 shots.
My issue is back stabs and parrying both being spamed to no end with dark wraiths being no help high def is my basicly only opption
There's a counter for everything. I suggest learning raviolis, reverse backsteps, chain backstabs and wakeup combos.
