    Saving you 18:51 of your time.. 1. blend motor under dashboard, 2. lighting module under dash in front of your right knee, 3. all FOUR power window regulators, 4. heater blower control module, 5. driver's door window switch panel hold-down tab, and lastly, 6. agreed the intake manifold but I have had 3 of these and none have had that, still running two of these 2005's but they DO lose water over time with no visible location of leaks yet. RUN 'EM TILL THEY BLOW BECAUSE there are tons of these available to go through.. nice while they last. 23 mpg with all the comforts.

    I owned a 97 P71 for over twelve years and 250,000 miles. I had a fuel pump fail which I replaced with a high volume pump for about $100. I didn't even need to remove the tank. I also had a LCM issue. I fixed my LCM module with a soldering iron and about ten minutes of work. Bad solder joints, easy fix. The spark plug issue is prevented by using a torque wrench when you install them. Also gap the plugs at 0.040 and save on ignition coils.

    I'm a former police officer - bought my first auctioned CVPI in 2002. Had the Blend door HVAC problem and a/c compressor, and intake manifold thing. Intake manifold replacement was free- it was a factory recall item. No other problem of any kind for the next six years. Bought a 2006 in 2008. no problems of any kind for the next SEVEN years. Now I have a 2007. Steering rack, (the car had been in a front end collision before I bought it) and a/c compressor, windshield went bad. ALL were the result of residual damage from the trauma of the serious collision. Replaced rear discs, front caliper, shocks all around. Had a set of one inch lower coil springs made for the back - the ass was up too high to suit me. now it sits level and handles like a slot car with the new Bilsteins. One bonus - a new engine with 30,000 miles on it when I bought it. Car has 132,000. Installed E3 plugs, MSD blaster coils, throttle body spacer, K&N cold air intake, New fuel filter (VERY important on these cars) and a 93 octane dyno tune. I've had it up past 135 mph, it gets really good gas mileage (keep those tires above 32 psi all around) and it doesn't have any of the other problems you describe. BUT - the car is almost 13 years old and it will experience failures in some systems - this is not in any way unique to these fine cars.

    Hey i need help. I'm looking at this 1995 crown victoria. It's real clean, the body is great the engine is great but the driver's door has a problem with the window, the buttons to make them go up and down (like the entire button holder) has been taken out, and the window held up with duct tape, the button holders and parts are there but it needs some type of work, I'm wondering if i should buy this thing because i thought it was great at first, then my grandfather-in-law looked at it and said it was junk...

    The 1997-2001 Ford Ford Crown Victoria, with a 100% plastic intake manifold, is known for engine overheating, even with normal use, and a coolant leak from the front of the manifold.Between 1999 and 2001, Ford released an updated version of this engine, known as the 'PI' version with a metal coolant passage on the front of the intake manifold, to prevent future issues.

  • @mikevonkleist6767
    @mikevonkleist6767 5 років тому +5

    Yeh, this thing does have its share of issues but the engine is really well designed. Plastic intake manifold crack, coils go bad, spark plugs misfire but this thing is bullet proof. The original 4.6 Intercepter didn't have the "stuck in the head" plug issue. The"coolant leaking into the plug well and cracking that plug" problem, yes.

    • @cnrails
      @cnrails Рік тому

      The 4.6 2v never had any issues with “stuck in the head plug issues.” The Triton truck engines had that issue with the factory 2 piece spark plug. By and large, these engines were much cheaper than the current market with lifter failures and transmission failures.

    We have this car here in South Africa, imported from Saudi Arabia. We have these problems to add to the video:
    Intakemanifold. We replaced that it was not a hard job just have to make sure petrol pressure is off before removing the rail 😁
    Electric window switches, yes we have this problem and we used two small screws holding them in. 🤷🏻
    We do not have the cigar tray thing, it was deleted as we do not smoke. They are kak (crap) anyways so just use a centreconsole for a van and it works a treat!
    Cooling system. We replaced ALL the hoses with Conti blue hoses and the heater core hoses are VERY hard to change unless you do the rearmost one with the intakemanifold. We also use a 77°C thermostat 'Failsafe' lock-open one as the original is kak (crap)
    Accessory belt, we used a Gates Fleetrunner green belt as they last the longest in our climate. The original Good Year belt was very thin and no good
    Upper front ball joints(?) these make the wheel shake at 100+km/h so change them of course
    Oil cooler design is odd, it mates the cooling system with the engine oil and you are right they ALWAYS leak or drip. Wash it up and change it or you will have a constant oilchange 🤣
    One last to add is the hardware for the front guard, they are always rusted and no good so get some nice stainless hardware for it, powdercoat it black and be done or they vibrate as mad while driving.
    We removed ALL the relayboxes, antennae wiring, etc but left the 'PI' interface on the left side to use in future but the vast majority of the wiring and ancient dataradios and battery start boxes are just not needed. We ended with HEAPS of wiring removed and less complicated below the plastic floor 👍🏻
    We have no issues with electric windows, wheels or other things but we also have no salt ice spread used here so our car is rustfree. Great vid thanks very much for the upload.
    *Edit* also when you remove the wooden tray thing in the rear you can fit a proper spare tyre! We use Fire Stone PV 41 and they are amazing 😁

Of course it's possible you found some '411' I hadn't and if there's anyone out there including your good self that can verify that this offer still stands currently in this year of 2019, please reply...

    I have a 2006 civilian Crown Vic, that I bought with 47,000 miles. It now has 288,000 miles. Then only issues I've had with it was a failed alternator, a failed vacuum vent climate control assembly, which I was able to fix myself with new O rings, and the peeling paint problem. Yes I have Performance White paint. That really sucks. It's a beautiful car, and there is no way to repair the paint.

    @bubbasmith7312 5 років тому +1

    !!!!!READ THIS!!!!! A severe issue these cars get most people don't even notice and a check engine light sometimes won't come on, it is cylinder misfiring codes. Normal if you have cylinder misfiring codes pop-up especially cylinder 1 and cylinder 5. The common things people fix are the spark plugs and ignition coils. However these cars have fuel rails and on the passenger side fuel rail toward the front there is a (fuel pressure sensor) built into it. It's two 7 mm bolts one vacuum line and one electrical clip. First check the clip and the vacuum line to make sure there's no damage to them, the vacuum lines are brittle plastic and break a lot. Local auto parts store should have a vacuum line for about 4 dollars. If the vacuum line is fine then the fuel pressure sensor needs to be replaced it is a very common issue with these cars, they cost $60 to $110 depending where you buy it this is a part where you want to buy a Motorcraft don't skimp out and spend $12 on eBay for a cheap one, in this case you get what you pay for. It stops the full vacuum in your fuel rails causing cylinder 1 and cylinder 5 at the front of the motor not to get any fuel. You're welcome to anyone experiencing this issue and now knows how to fix it without replacing a ton of stuff like I had to do. Also other common issues window motors especially the window tracks due to their cheap plastic design, if you're throwing stuff in your trunk not paying attention on the driver side there is inertia switch which one bump very hard causes your fuel pump to not send any fuel, normally you just push the button reset it and go. Sway bar sway bar links a arm bushings ball joints are all issues that normally happen with these cars due to the amount of mileage on them. Odometer digital gauge and or the whole gauge setup is also a common issue, the only way to fix it is to take the motherboard out and resolder a couple spots. One of the biggest issues I've had with my Crown Vic especially an old cop car is electrical demons, unfortunately because of messing around with the wiring harness to include lots of instruments then taking them out for sale can cause a lot of issues for a buyer. My Crown Vics name is EL Demon for that issue. There is a lot of others but I can't really write them all down..

    That Intake Manifold Problem was very prominent from 1998 up to about maybe 2003. I have a 2010 and they fixed that problem by making the Thermostat housing not bolt on to plastic. So I don't believe every one will have to fix this. That improvement you mentioned was an upgrade by 2010

    So the intake manifold on my grand marquis cracked at 160,000 from that bottom area of the thermostat housing, currently trying to fix but also saw that the passenger spark plug cylinders have coolant in them, would that indicate it being just from the manifold crack/leak or could it also be a head gasket crack/leak? (Havent inspected the gasket yet)

    I own a 2007 CVPI and I appreciate Silver Ridge Ramblin discussing his experiences with his CVPI. The white paint in my CVPI is peeling pretty bad and the window control on the driver's door has broken off but I've never had spark plugs blast through the hood. The volume control on the factory installed radio has the infrequent (but annoying habit) of going up and down by itself.

  • @soco13466

    Mine was probably replaced. It has 230,000 miles. The only leaks were a hose in the power steering line, and the oil plug wasn't tight, had stripped threads. The new plug threaded in properly, tightened snug. This car is an upstate South Carolina car, so corrosion is minimal. I had to get an alignment, it drives nice and straight now. No push bar, no spotlight, no holes in the body. It was probably an unmarked car, except I can see where a stick on decal was on the door.

    Jeez! My confidence level of the Crown Vic just dropped to the floor,lol...I know i saw a puff of steam right near that thermostat housing on my 96, but it must be a very slow leak because that was months ago and it's been dry since...Speaking of Maaco, they quoted me a price of $715 to repaint the car and to shim up a sagging door hinge. That's not half bad and I've had cars painted at this location before. It's going to be a real job restoring this car. Needs a new stereo too. You have to love these cars to take it to the level we do to keep them running!

      They really are solid cars from what I've heard and read. There were a couple of issues with them but no more (and often far less) than other vehicles. From 1998-2011 they were pretty much the same car. Cheap new parts, decent fuel mileage for a V8, smooth ride, there's tons of them out there so used parts aren't hard to find at all, They're built like tanks because they were designed to be used and abused.

    6:30 When I bought the CV, the steering shaft had binding spots. I sprayed some grease on the universal joint and the problem went away. Now it's creeping back, so I need to relubricate.
    You DO NOT need to replace the shafts. Just put some grease on it!
    P.S. I hate power steering to begin with because I can't feel the road. I absolutely HATE progressive power steering for the progressive part. You can never tell where/when automatic shit is going to break (it's man-made - it's going to break), and if you're trying to race down a road, that's always the wrong time.

With police auctions that is no longer the case especially because the vics stoped production... now most of the time old cop cars no matter the make go for blue book and it’s insane.
