👍🏿👍🏿perfectly timed vid! You peaked my interest in belay jackets a few videos ago and in my research I realized this was out there. I don’t want to layer, should I size down?
This is a great jacket. A keeper for me.🙂 The XL for me its my normal size, and for me, its doesn't feel very big and bulky. There's room under it with just a t-shirt, but it's not really oversized. I like the fit. Jackets fit everybody a bit differently, but I would start with your normal size and go from there. It's really not that big.
Yes, both are 133 gsm, however they are very different jackets. The Xenair is a very breathable insulation layer, designed for high output activities. The jackets Fabric and insulation allows hot air Vapor to escape from the jacket, while allowing some cool air in to self-regulate and keep you comfortable. The generator is basically a belay jacket for climbing. It is not very breathable, and it is totally windproof not allowing the cold air / wind into the jacket. It is basically designed to be worn over top of an insulation layer such as the Zenair in extreme cold windy conditions.
I like the Nuclei SV fabric more than I like Pertex. My daughter has a jacket with the same fabric as this Rab, and it’s not for me. It’s not bad, it’s an excellent fabric… but I like the feel of the Arcteryx much more. I’m not positive, but I think the SV has more insulation, yes?
The Nuclei SV is a lot heavier. The rab falls in the middle of the nuclei sv and the nuclei FL. I want to review the new nuclei sv, but it's all sold out at this time. So I'll keep checking to see when it is available. They both will fit a bit large, as they are made to fit over layers, much like a shell. For me the Rab fits well with just a t-shirt, but better with a layer underneath.
Good vid. Keep up the great work!
Thank you.

Great vid! How does it compare to the Xenair Alpine in terms of warmth since they’re both 133g/m2 of insulation?

This or the revised arcteryx Nuclei SV? The outer fabric on the Nuclei SV looks and feels better. They both look big and baggy.

@@jayeadsthe revised one has 190g Coreloft vs 180g on the old one.
