      seapanda I admit that they make mistakes like number 9 and 13 but except that, how are they all untrue?

    • @seapanda7887
      @seapanda7887 6 років тому +12

      Where did I state they were all untrue? But fair enough "Most" was an over statement, though many do contain faulty or over stated information.
      #1 Viking age started much earlier than the year 990.
      #2 Contains misinformation. For instance access to health care is not free. Some is paid over taxes (eg not free) but a lot of special treatment and preventative health care and medicine is not free, and at most subsidiced.
      #7 Implies the trials haven't started, while the trials are scheduled to end tomorrow.
      #9 As you pointed out. Simens wind power is not a Danish company, and denmark do not generate 140% of electricity demand from wind power.
      #13 Plasic bags are not banned. Plasic generally doesn't end up in landfills or the ocean in Denmark, due to extensive recycling they are usually recyled or burned and used for heating.
      #15 Tax paid does not mean free. Denmark do have a very generous welfare system though, so students and get welfare while studying and generally only have to pay for their books. However if you are not a fulltime student at university and other private educations you do have to pay for the course or semester. The taxes marginal tax is around 55% not 60% but there are a lot of other fees and taxes which means the average Dane pay around +50% in taxes and fees. Tax to GDP is 46% compared to USAs 26%.

    • @joachimlarsen1579
      @joachimlarsen1579 6 років тому +6

      seapanda Well pain killers and that kind of stuff isnt free, but everthing big and important is. And yeah the helthcare is paid over tax but its still free, you can have been unemployed for your entire life never having paid any taxes and still get healthcare, i would call that for free. Regarding the taxes they didnt say income tax, and if you make the calculations 55,8% in income tax, 25% on almost everthing you buy and 150% on cars the amount of taxes you pay can easily surpass 60%. Btw you said "most of" which at least have to be over 50% so that was wrong as well :)

    • @seapanda7887
      @seapanda7887 6 років тому +2

      If you read my reply you'll see I already acknowledged that most was an over statement.
      Prescription drugs, they are now free either, the are subsidized up to a certain amount. When something is paid over taxes then it isn't free. For something to be free it has to be freely provided, for that to be the case the doctors and hospitals would have to provide their service without receiving compensation, and that is obviously not the case.The manner with which the money is obtained doesn't make it free.
      As for taxes you have to look up what difference is between Marginal tax rate and effective tax rate. The marginal tax rate in Denmark is ~55% for people in the top tax bracket. For an average income the marginal tax rate is ~42% but the effective tax rate is closer to 35%. if you include all fees and consumption taxes and sales tax the average Dane pay ~51% in taxes. (finans.dk/live/privatokonomi/ECE7526820/S%C3%A5-meget-betaler-du-rent-faktisk-i-skat/?ctxref=ext) Still an insane amount, but facts matter.

I don't exactly go around shouting my religion from the roof tops, but once in a while religion will enter the conversation, and I usually turn out to be the only one in the group who is religious. Maybe religion is more common in small towns or something? Viking age had nothing to do with preventing Christianity from spreading, besides the fact that they had different beliefs. The famous Viking king Harald Bluetooth MADE the danish people Christians after getting convinced himself.
    The reason very little Scandinavians are Christians today is simply because of freedom and education. It's religion in general that is very unpopular, but the peiroid between the Viking age and now, we were very much a Christian country.

The Harald who won the whole of Denmark and Norway and turned the Danes to Christianity".

      Well, i do, believe me, it just depends on what circles you move in. I myself, comes from Sjælland, or soulland, the island of castles and nobles, not jutland or fyn, which is basically glorified farming communities.
      But most danes do mock religion, but enjoy the traditional gatherings surrounding it. But very, very few, if any, gets confirmed, married or in death, burried because of god. Also, in regards to the jelling stone, most educated danes, whom are aware of the factual history of denmark, before the christian purge of our lands, with the help of the traitorous bluetooth, despise religion as a whole, and do intend to have the stone removed and destroyed one day, hopefully.
      Once, a jutlandian farmer took his traktor thing, and drove the stone into a ditch outside the chuch in an attempt to remove it, it even broke in two or more pieces. And the reason why they enclosed the stone, is not because of weather and stuff, its because of the many, many attempts at destroying and defiling of that symbol of genocide and forcefull subjugation of indigenous people. Denmark is not a socialist country... It has social-democratic aspects such as the free healthcare and education, but it's not run by socialism and it's not a socialist government or legal system. Denmark has capitalism and a (somewhat) free market. Both of those are the opposite of socialism.
      But yes, I agree with the whole "free" thing. They make it sound like we just get it thrown at us without having done anything for it, but the high tax rates aren't there for the hell of it and we do sacrifice some quality in order to have that availability.

    • @eidodk
      @eidodk 6 років тому +1

      Daniel Madsø this is all countered by the HIGH wages we get though, there's a reason why eastern europeans travel here to work, and that is even when they get paid half of what we do, it's still more than they can earn doing the same work athome.

    • @eidodk
      @eidodk 6 років тому +3

      Mr. Blitzer
      Try living just a month in the US, making what they call "a living wage". Then try to go to a doctor for a common cold, try to pay for the medicine you're prescribed there. You may think they are not taxed as high as we are, but that's PURELY due to the fact that they don't share cost on ANYTHING, in their for-profit world.
      The by law minimum wage in the US, is $12.50 per hour. They pay taxes from this, they pay sales tax in most of the states, they pay health insurance if they can afford it, and in the end, they're actually having less for themselves than the average danish citizen does.

      It's still more than the average american. Average income in both the US and Denmark is just about $50.000. It's true that Danes pay big taxes, but healthcare, school and social services are fully paid for. In the US, you have to pay for E V E R Y T H I N G out of pocket. We danes have alot of benefits from that, that the americans don't ...
      For instance, a heart surgery operation in denmark costs $0, but in the US it averages $117.000 (AFTER insurance pays their share)

    • @DanceswW
      @DanceswW 6 років тому

      eidodk you get what you pay for and you gotta wait for your turn.

    • @eidodk
      @eidodk 6 років тому +3

      DanceswW In average, it takes 66 days to get an appointment with your family doctor in the US, in Denmark the average wait time for an appointment with your family doctor is 6 days. In Denmark you are guaranteed treatment starts in under a month, for even specialized surgery, and if the state can't provide the procedure timely, you're free to choose privatized hospitals, for which the state pays.
      There is NOTHING in the US way of life, that's even CLOSE to desireable for a dane. I know that the liberal mindset is that if people paid their own way through things, we could lower taxes, but the US is the perfect utopian example of why that is the worst idea ever thought out.
      Just look at what a victim of a heart surgery has to pay out of pocket in the US. $117.000 - and the average yearly income is lower than half that. People who depend on US healthcare goes bankrupt every day. Just about 800.000 americans file for bankrupcy every year.

    • @eidodk
      @eidodk 6 років тому +1

      Mr. Blitzer
      You're simply uninformed. Even the Big Mac index disagrees with you (Since you brought up visit to McDonalds).. According to the Big Mac Index, the US is the 4th most expensive country to live in, and on that list, Denmark clocks in at #8. Everything you buy in atleast 45 of 50 states in the US is taxed too. You just don't see the tax being applied before you go get your bill from the teller at the store.
      Yep, a Big Mac is actually MORE expensive in the US, than it is in Denmark. How do you like that for a fact for you ?
      Plus the fact that you have to pay your way though E V E R Y T H I N G in the US... Schools, Doctors, Hospitals, heck - retirement homing too. Over half a million americans are homeless, you'll have to pay TWO TO THREE YEARS worth of middle class income out of pocket, for a life saving heart surgery, even AFTER the voluntary insurance you take out on health care in the US, has paid its share. Even PRISONS are run for profits there.
      There's LITERALLY nothing in the US worth striving for.

    I have a couple things to say about this video. 1. The only reason we have “free” healthcare and (education) is because we pay up to 51% of our total income to taxes. Even when we pay that in taxes we still don’t get free education. At least not in every school that is in Denmark. In some schools, yes we do get “free” education but in the other schools we have to pay to get education. In some of the “free” schools you will have to buy your books yourself and that kinda defeats the purpose of the word free. 2. The richest person in Denmark is Anders Holch Povlsen with a net worth of $7.1 billion as of 2018. 3. My meaning and theory of our low birth rate is because of immigration. We have 5.7 million people living in Denmark. That’s about 500.000 more that Norway do bare the size of Norway and Denmark and you will see what I mean... 4. We don’t use bikes that much. 5. I rarely see someone on a bike that’s not an athlete. 6. We haven’t banned plastic bags. I just cane home with one in my hand placed it on the counter, took out what I have bought and threw it in a drawer so I can use it as a garbage bag. I really hope you will see this and remake your video to give the right information instead if this....

      For all that might look.
      Denmark
      While an earlier Danish Viking king, Harald Klak, had been baptized in 826, it wasn’t until King Harald Bluetooth was baptized in 965 that Christianity took a firmer hold in Denmark. Harald Bluetooth raised the Jelling Stone proclaiming that he made all Danes Christian, although the new faith lived side by side with the old for the next few hundred years. Danish Vikings accepted Christianity slowly. By 1110 the first stone cathedral was begun in Denmark’s oldest city of Ribe. It was finished in 1134. By then, most Danes had become Christian.

      Viking age ended because no more "Viking" the lifestyle changed and the "Vikings" became the Normans.
      In Ribe, they always dug on one side of a church, a team of archaeologists dug on the other side and found remains from ca. 704 (on of them was later a teacher of mine in folk highschool).
      When they stopped the warband (viking) it had some -- yes -- to do with religion, but ultimately it is how the people are governed. You really need to look at the word viking and see what it means, so the period lasted as long as they went on them. Also keep in mind, that through the ages, again yes, religion plays in but it all ends with art, government, fashion and people changing.

    • @SlightlyAlive.
      @SlightlyAlive. 6 років тому

      The definition of viking is (on this site): a person belonging to a race of Scandinavian people who travelled by sea and attacked parts of northern and southern Europe between the 8th and the 11th centuries, often staying to live in places they travelled to. dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/viking
      and relegion was quite promenent in the viking age and has a lot to do with vikings, vikings being scandinavians that roamed and fought (refering to this as the viking lifestyle,) if you were dying (as an example) you would often go into war as to go to Valhalla, the great hall in Norse mythology where heroes slain in battle are received, were the gods of the Norse belief would be, that has a lot to do with religion and Harald Bluetooth converting at least the majority of scandinavians to the christian belief.
      I would say it has quite a bit to do with religion, as yeah religion isnt an entire lifestyle, but a part of it.

    We are also one of the countries with the most government surveillance. According to Privacy International we are in the second worst group, while a danish 2015 analysis of the FE (forsvarets efterretningstjeneste) showed them to hold more power than even NSA (albeit only on national scale.) Just thought I would say something different as we Danes tend to get carried away with either praising our country for what we get from our taxes or bashing it because we have to pay the taxes.

    There are no free Healthcare and so on. We pay a lot of taxes (about 50% of our salary and 25% on every thing we buy)

    For shopping, make sure to have pin-numbers on your credit cards. Some stores and shops does recieve cash, but it has to be the national crown, if so. Further more; Noma, a top-raking restaurent, is also located in Denmark. And the Bluetooth, we know, nowadays as a wireless connection, actually has its name, from a Danish Viking King, Christianing the Danes, back in the Viking-age

    It would be nice if you pronounced “Copenhagen” and “Hans” (Christian Anderson) the way the Danes do (with the a pronounced like the beginning of “eight”) instead of the way the Germans do, with an a like in “father”. The Danes already suffered under German occupation. We don’t need to make it worse.

      I agree with this so many Americans thinks that we are Germans and they don’t understand how Germany used to treat Denmark
