My father rushed in and wanted to play. He's the one who showed me Doom2 back when I was young, he was upset when he saw it wasn't the game, but loved the song regardless. =)

Koops Akimoto I agree. Those thin ledges were a constant nightmare. I like to do levels in one run, but this one I just can't. I got to use save states.
LOL - At first I thought 80's cop show intro but I think you nailed it with Seinfeld instead. This song is on the console versions of Doom 2 but the bass doesn't sound slappy.
This sounds like some very vicious metal/industrial bass. Beautifully done. This song also appears in the level The Final Frontier from Final Doom (Level 24, The Plutonia Experiment)
Doom 2 level 24 "The Chasm" is actually my favorite level where despite all of that criticism against it I actually enjoy it as a level that's mostly laidback and quiet in most various parts of it and where with only a handful of demon battles amongst various sections and rooms and while I'll also have to admit to saying that the music to this level "In The Dark" even makes me always think that there's something very ghostly and😳 haunting about the chasm when roaming around from one section to the very next while when not fighting in battles 😳 !
I was messing around on a keyboard that i have and i cant play to save my life, but i figured out how to play the bass part of this song, just by memory of how much i like this bad ass song.

Played Level 6 on Brutal doom v18 on Black metal. That Spider Mastermind, even in that one spot, can take off over 100 health in the short time it takes to get that switch to kill him. Brutal.
BFG9k mostly the same hp% damage as the 10k, but the fact is that in the 9k there is a good chance of avoiding the (even if huge) area damage. That's because it really depends on line of sight of the gunner at the time of the explosion. Anyway, both em can one-shot a (hitten) marine in a multiplayer game.
how disappointed is everyone going to be when they find out that's not an actual bass being played? The bassline in the Seinfeld is also not an actual bass
If you play it at 1.75 speed , it sounds like it was supposed to for proper level gameplay. If you play it at 2x the speed , it sounds like a boss theme for the game .
I think the Doom 1 maps are based more on horror and survival, whereas the Doom 2 ones were made more for "run my ass off and shoot everyone I see, and I will make it out alive". Just more straightforward gaming.
Someone needs to make a mod were the enemies dance to the theme of the level in 2d doom they turn back and forth and in the 3d mod they actually dance :D
I am so happy this is now available on xbox live. I remember when I played this on my old computer back in the day and my sound chip was total garbage. All the tracks sounded like a Colecovision vision game. Now after all these years I can play the game as it was meant to be played
Someone better unchain the night soon *Edit, I know that many slam "The Factory" for being a pretty bad map but I thought it was alright despite the red key "bug" since there is no red key in that level.
@cl0vvntiem "Bio-Force Gun" is so unfitting that you have to assume it's not the intended implication of the acronym. Especially considering the weapon's size and power.
I remember how I played it first time on Hardcore (2nd time playing Doom 2) . When I seen the spider mastermind on Crusher, I go and quickly push button. I hide and waiting some seconds (Enjoyed killing Imps and Pinkies) After this I go with words "Oh yeah! Sweet plasma gun" THAT MASTERMIND WAS STILL THERE! I was like "FUUUUU--!" and die. So remember people! More than 1 use of Crusher is funnier than be pissed by that brainy noob.
One of the few songs that actually sounds worse in the remix. The fretless bass was better and helped make the song with its low rumble. The Seinfeld bass almost ruins it, although it is kind of funny.

Wholesome
Thats amazing like actually
My brother did the same thing with me once, except I was listening to the Endgame music
My dad would get my brother and me off the pc so we could do our homework. Late at night, he stayed awake to olay the game alone 😂
I like how the number of the map doubles every time this track is used.
+RamYouUptheButt My love for this track doubles everytime I listen to it. That bass... so badass!
Yeah, but it sucks that the maps where this track is used are probably the most utter rubbish maps in the game, especially The Chasm.
Love The Chasm, it's the most exciting map imo 🗻

Well if you play on pistol start...that's usually the likely case.
Wait... there's been a crusher for killing that bastard THIS WHOLE TIME?!?
The Ugly Barnacle I have almost all the guns by this level but I'm still usually only about half health and no armor.

“i hate those bloody ledges.”
Good song, but now I'm having flashbacks to the nightmare that was The Chasm.
Koops Akimoto I agree. Those thin ledges were a constant nightmare. I like to do levels in one run, but this one I just can't. I got to use save states.
i think its kinda okay to use save states in doom. Contrary to popular belief it was already possible in dos even the manual advises you to use it.
***** I just get a sense of self satisfaction to beat a level without saving.

yeah but in quite alot of doom 2 maps its just a bit too challenging and unfair if you ask me.
Not just that!!! How about... the FACTORY!?
You know it’s a good soundtrack when you search the wrong song and still get a really good song
Repulsive in the dark?
It pains me that the eerie whistling bit starting at 6:35 didn't last longer, it sounds so damn cool

If you want the MIDI to sound like this, you have to change the Fretless Bass into the Slap Bass 1
from what i know in some versions of doom 2 you get the "slap bass" midi as standard.
The midi device is Roland SC-155
propably, but bobby also slapped a some kind of soundfilter/reverb on there too.
AngeloGamer642 Roland SCC-1 soundcard you mean?
this is blessed information.
This is probably the most chill doom song
As a bass player, I feel called out by that opening.
