Hey everyone, I hope you enjoy this slightly more introspective video and it gives some insight into how I approach things, and am looking to evolve the channel in 2025. Thanks again to @bobgeisel13 for the video idea, and to a bunch of other regular commenters including @immortalsteel631 and @TMLFerreira :) I should also point out that while I'll generally look to publish less frequently (once per week), I may still publish 'unplanned' videos - i.e. a second video sometimes, especially if there's a quick update or news type video. Anywhoo, thanks for watching and feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks again!
I personally like to learn new things or even just small curiosities, so I enjoy videos where you explain how certain things work, or give tips on how to do (or not do) things, I also particularly enjoyed the video where you destroyed your old HDD/SSDs, but maybe that's just the sadist in me speaking. The homelab setup videos were pretty cool too! I think even more important than the topics is that you keep showing your personality, there's plenty of other tech channels out there, the reason I come back to watch you is because I find you pretty entertaining on top of the content I'm already interested in! As for the type of videos I don't particularly care for, I'd say things like the "30 PC cases compared" or specific hardware reviews, unless they're about something very niche that you're trying to bring attention to (such as the FPS monitoring software). Personally if I want to buy something, I'll just do my own research and then maybe watch a video about it, I'm not generally one to watch reviews on things I have no interest in buying, unless they're something niche that I may not even know exists. I like the multiple channel idea as well, subscribing to Shorter Tech! I personally don't really care about upload schedules, I usually watch UA-cam while at work, so I can go several days without watching anything and then watch a bunch of videos in a row when there's not much to do or I'm too lazy to do actual work lol.
Thank you, I really appreciate the detailed comment and your thoughts :) That makes perfect sense about the topics you do and don't prefer, to be honest I prefer making the explanatory or 'random' videos more too (i.e. compared to things like hardware reviews or similar topics). So that's ideal. Thanks for the sub to Shorter Tech too. :)
I think your doing a stellar job already!! My advice would be having both short and longer videos on the same channel vs on another channel just my 2 pence. I personally don't hunt beyond the main channel typically. I think responding to comments goes a long way in building a loyal base. I have watched several channels like yours start small and grow big over years. I'm hopeful the same happens for you mate!! Oh and I love when you break stuff!! :)
Many thanks, I appreciate that :) Glad you're enjoying my content... and when I break stuff LOL! That's a fair point about not venturing into second channels. I'll be sure to think about that point. I do still enjoy making shorter videos (and I had fun with a fairly recent video where I showed off the Gigabyte "G connector" in a short video). Certainly, videos like that would be good to keep on this channel. Maybe I'll aim for one longer video a week, then shorter fun videos "whenever". We'll see. Thanks again for the support and comment mate - hope you have a good New year :)
Love the video - I think it would be a lot of fun to do what you’re doing. I love tech stuff and building computers, etc. I’m in the USA and just watch these videos during my free time for entertainment.
Excellent video with USEFUL information! I'm looking to start my own YT Channel and this has inspired me. Regarding your questions to the viewers: 1. For longer videos (15 to 20 minutes), weekly feels like the right balance. (We do have day jobs after all.) 2. For topics, I'd stick with what you are interested in. That way we see the passion which makes the videos more engaging. Do what you love! 3. I like the idea of separate channels for different interests. I'll consider that as well. (Subscribing to the other channels now!) Thanks for the shout out!
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed :) That's cool re a YT channel - I'd love to see it if/when you do launch them. 1) I'm glad you feel like weekly is a nice balance, I've generally started shifting towards that direction recently (especially with the longer videos) so that's great. 2) Makes sense thanks, I agree that focusing on my passions is the right approach. I think that I could tighten up my topics a bit, and maybe stop covering things like simple questions and Windows OS type topics. And also cover a bit more gaming topics. We'll see how it works out though. 3) Thanks for the subs, and I'm especially liking Shorter Tech - there's a bunch of random (and short) tech queries I get asked or come across on Reddit etc, and so it'll be good to have an outlet for those queries. Thanks again for the comment and thoughts.
Hi, you would have to plugin the Macbook and then disable automatic sleep: support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchle41a6ccd/mac It should then download overnight.
