Usually in Sri Lanka the family eats later after the guests finish eating . We have a English speaking community as well in here and they are called burghers. Nice vlog by the way. Enjoy your stay here in our beautiful land.

Is it? I grew up in Colombo & whenever my family entertained guests, we all ate together. I suspect this is more of a class issue.
As for the Sri Lankan Burghers are there any even left on the island ? More chance of seeing one in the suburbs of Melbourne.

We sri lankans don't eat till our guests finish eating. I would be very supriced if they eat with you. But when you meet higher middle class community they will eat with you. They are kind of following western culture.. anyways good work steve ❤

The literal meaning of the word "Ela kiri" is Cow Milk. But we use it here in Sri Lanka as slang word to say something Great, So Good, or Superb.

Usually sri lanakn dont eat with guests.. its a type of respect that they give.. my mother said that we should free untill our guest finished their meals , bcs otherwise we cant give perfect hospitality to them..
