THE best live Rock band in the galaxy. Gifted musicians who are also kawaii but not Kawaii Metal - that is a genre invented by Babymetal's producer and only used by Babymetal. There are lots of superb Japanese bands out there apart from the most superb of all, Band-Maid, including Lovebites, Wagakki Band and Ningen Isu. Anyway, back to Band-Maid - Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Best rockband on planet earth right now. Naturally formed band, all are really close together (best friends), they are creating their own music and are SO COOL characters. Really humble, funny and they always show their love towards their fans. I am listening to music for a very long time and Band-Maid is something special, how they can cruise through all kinds of different riffs, genres, paces and changes is MASTERFUL! I am a guy up there in years (born 1960) who has been listening to rock/metal for about 50 years. I discovered Band-Maid shortly after the start of the pandemic by watching this same video. I was so impressed that I began listening to quite a few Japanese bands and I have discovered that I enjoy the music of the all-female bands. The all-female rock/metal music scene has been around for about 40 years beginning with the still great Show-Ya that formed in 1982. It really exploded with the formation of the bands Aldious and Destrose around 2008. Those two bands paved the way for all the recent all-female Japanese bands, including my personal favorites - Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. Band-Maid started as a very inexperienced band so much of their early material was not their own. That slowly began to change due to the amazing song writing ability of lead guitarist Kanami Tono. By 2016, when they recorded the album Just Bring It, Band-Maid was in control of their music and sound. Their more recent album, Unseen World, is entirely the product of the band, particularly Kanami. It was released earlier this year, and I put in the top 20 of all albums released this year worldwide. Lovebites is a true metal band formed in 2016. All members are veterans of other bands so there was not the growing pains that Band-Maid went through. They have released 3 full length albums and several EPs. Close to 50 songs so far and not a bad one in the bunch. Lovebites has become my favorite of the three. You definitely need to listen to them. The best and most common song to start with is Holy War. Nemophila is the newest of the three having formed in 2019. Like Lovebites, they are all veteran musicians. They have a huge number of covers and original songs on their UA-cam channel. I suggest starting with their live performance of Oiran at the Naon no Yaon 2021 music festival (an all female rock festival started by Show-Ya in 1987). Enjoy!

@@RobinC63 I have been rockin since 1970 when I got my first two 8 track tapes (yes, 8 track tapes). They were Grand Funk's Closer to Home and Led Zeppelin III. I have been rockin ever since. I hope to have another 20 or 30 years in me.
@@RobinC63 It might just be my boomer mentality, but I think our generation was more open to many genres of music. Can you think of a more diverse musical decade than the 70s? I loved Led Zeppelin but I also loved other bands from Three Dog Night to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Earth, Wind and Fire.

Maybe can sound strange, but now, Japan have a really large number of all-female bands in rock and even heavy metal. Most of them incredibly good at all levels. Band Maid falls more into the hard rock style, but there´s a lot of metal band (all female) like Nemophila, Aldious, Mary´s Blood and of course Lovebites. Also have a lot of female fronted bands like Unluck Mortheus among a lot more. All of them with a really high level of performance playing their instruments. Maybe because in High School in Japan is mandatory to learn to play and instrument in almost all the schools. Also they have really good music schools. More all female bands... of course Scandal, Shonen Knife, Brats, Show-Ya, Fate-Gear, Bridear, Destrose (no longer in active but some of their components now in other bands), Trident... the list is really long. Babymetal really falls into the "Idol" music. The company do their songs and music and have their musicians. But all of the above are all legit bands who play their instruments. If Band Maid looks "hard", try Lovebites. Yes, you can be kawaii and an awesome player at the same time! Welcome to our lair - the lair of the MAIDIAC. It's sometimes difficult to get our friends to give these ladies a chance because of the way they look, but once you see and hear them play, it's over. Once you listen to enough of their songs, there is the inevitable realization that you are witnessing the best hard rock band in the world - and I'm totally serious. As players, they are truly magnificent, but it's the combination of their songwriting and arranging (not matched since a certain Paul and John), the sheer joy that their music brings (your face will hurt from smiling and who doesn't like that in today's world) and the fact that each of them are equally talented and all get their turn to shine. Their music is also very clever in that there is complexity that you don't catch the first time through - and you can listen to the same song over and over and it just gets better. Not that you have to because they have a gazillion songs and they're all very good to holy crap in quality. Enjoy the ride - I have been for over 3 years now.
BAND MAID calls it THE GAP! there's a gap between how someone appears and what they do. Miku has said that was what she was going for. MIKU worked at a Maid Café in Akihabara Japan before starting BAND MAID MIKU found KANAMI by chance watching UA-cam videos KANAMI was making KANAMI thought MIKU was a strange girl - but without any reluctance she joined with MIKU and thought the maid uniforms were cute while playing the rock music. KANAMI contacted AKANE as the drummer AKANE contacted MISA as they had gone to music school together MISA was hesitant to join as she was not into the maid outfits. Changes to the outfits were made for MISA MIKU thought here voice "lacked potency" she says "I want more coolness" so she went looking for another singer to do twin vocals. MIKU found SAIKI who was singing on her own. MIKU's manager said that if MIKU told SAIKI the truth about the maid outfits SAIKI would probably not join. So MIKU tricked SAIKI into joining the band. SAIKI says "they told me there were 5 girl members and made me listen to the songs. She remained silent about the maid outfits or there being a pigeon. The first live show of the 5 members was decided and the day before was the rehearsal. This was the first time that the 5 members were together. SAIKI had met the other members but not MIKU. SAIKI says "When I experienced this 'PO' and 'KURUPO' thing it was completely different than hearing about it". This was also the first time she knew about the maid outfits and she could not run away. SAIKI says "YEAH I WAS TRICKED!"
Why do you say THE GAP like it's some new concept they made up or came up with or whatever, the word is an japanese loan word from english that literally means contrast, whoever translated the Miku interview just didn't care enough to translate it, they do not call what they do THE GAP, they just say it's a cool contrast between the maid outfits and cool hard rock music. @@nomennescio4604 gyappu is a japanese word that means contrast, it is used everywhere in spoken japanese, a lot of early translations that bandmaid fans look up to are full of mistranslated (a lot even the one you linked) because whoever translates them ignore the nuances of the language. Again It is not some big concept Miku came up with or anything like that. You say there is gyappu in something when there is big contrast between what you expect and what you get and actually it was early japanese band maid fans who said that first after attending there early concerts, it wasn't even Miku who said it first
The tour is The World Domination Tour. The song is Domination, about taking over the world, which is their goal! Miku Kobato, the founder of the band, wanted to create what she called "The Gap", the difference between being cute or kawuii, compared to the hard rock music they play, and you picked up on it. The big difference between Band Maid and Baby Metal is the latter is a studio created group with a backing metal band. Band Maid, on the other hand, is self created, and all play the instruments and for the last several albums, write, arrange, and compose most of their songs. Band-maid is awesome! One of the best rock bands in the world today! They had a cameo in the Netflix movie Kate early this year. Blooming and Choose Me. Fun fact. Band-Maid almost disbanded after 2 years because they didnt get popular in Japan. Before going through with it though, their manager said they were super popular online with people from Mexico. So they decided to do 1 concert abroad, in Mexico. Kanami Tono (Irad Guitar) was the first member of this band, He was a singer and songwriter, before joining the band, and Miku found Kanami through an internet search site. 3. If your looking for something more like Babymetal but were the girls are also actually playing the instruments I'd go with Nemophilia or Lovebites. Those two groups are more metal bands but not part of the Kawai metal phenomenon and are strait up Metal bands even if the girls/wemon are cute. Band Maid is more Kawai hard rock if you want to put on it. They often get put into the category of BabyMetal as they are the second most recognized group after them but they are quite different as BabyMetal has men playing the instruments while the girls sing and dance only. A note. Baby Metal may be broken up. They went on an indefinite hiatus this year. Lovebites also went on a hiatus as they lost their basest.
Babymetal is/was not a band but an act. Very good back-up band, very good singer, put together by a studio boss. Not my thing, not much wrong with it either, but not compareable with Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Bridear, Galmet, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Destrose, Fate Gear, and so on.

Band Maid is not a a Kawaii metal band. The corporation that made Baby Metal as a product ,more like so an Idol concept. The girls in baby metal were instructed to use this made up term , Kawaii metal to explain the new genre the corporation was selling to the public. Now Band Maid is a real musician based band that composes all their material . The band is actually a group of professional musicians that was founded by Miku Kobato ( Back vocals and guitar) as an idea she had for a while of a band using the contrast of maids that can rock out on stage. She went out there and found the band members and have one of the most unique sounds across many rock and punk genre’s out there today. This is the real real deal !

Kawai metal isn't even a genre, it is a gimmick made by Babtmetal and is about idol bands that dance and sing to metal music (idols are basically company/producer made groups that generally only sing and dance). BAND-MAID are not Kawaii Metal. They consider themselves to be Hard Rock, though they have many influences, Power Pop, Punk Funk, Metal & Jazz. Almost all of the popular Japanese bands play their own instruments. These women are just better at it than most bands and the lead guitarist (she writes all of the music) is one hell of a writer.

Baby Metal are bopping chipmunks in front of a real metal band. Band Maid are musicians, leader guitar, drummer and bass player are all concert level pianists. They have musical talent off the scale and lead guitar, Kanami writes all their songs- second guitar Miku who formed the band writes the lyrics. They are not metal they have their own rock based genre but do wonderful acoustic versions. They are the best rock band in the world.
Band-Maid and Kami Band are good friends. A lot of the band are good friends...so don't feel weird when some people try to pit them against each other.
Please react also to Nemophila and their songs Dissension and Life. Together with Babymetal and Band Maid they belong to the all-female Japanese giants in hard rock and heavy metal. By the way your analyse is right: The Japanese fraulein wonder in heavy music started about 15 years ago (the break-through was Babymetal) as a mean of emancipation from the strict Japanese society rules, combined with superb musical craftsmanship (all ladies started to play piano at the age of 3-4, most of them play multiple instruments) and an infrastructure for female bands (specialised schools run by the music industry, the Anime industry as an employer, female-only festivals etc.).
"Domination" is still pretty relax...wait until you guys hear "No God" and "I Still Seek Revenge" from the "Unseen World" album. Crazy thing is Band-Maid is evolving everytime they release new music, but if you're stuck with their UA-cam uploads, you will miss out. I think that's what a lot of reaction channels missed out on, they react and have a criticism...but B-M will usually addressed that by the next year or they'll explore a new sound.
The Algorithm brought me here, LOVE Band-Maid, but currently falling hard for Nemophila, I recommend Revive or Hypnosis, they play their own instruments too!!!!!

My way was similar: From Baby Metal to Band Maid and on to Nemophila. As Band Maid the five ladies are all far above average musicians, but they are more heavy metal than hard rock. Their hardest songs are Dissension and Revive, their most touchy and emotional song is Life and their funniest is a short cover of the Banana Song. From there YT will propose you dozens of other great songs.
Band Maid, though they may incorporate elementsof metal, funk and genre fluidity, and in their early days verged on pop rock, are principally a hard rock band; not kawaii metal one. There are plenty of idolcore groups who have owed their existence to Babymetal though - Iron Bunny, Ladybaby, etc, with other alt idol groups ramping up the rock/metal in their music mixes.

I saw them on JMelo in 2015 and I liked how different these girls are, not too much of a formula band where (for one example)the bridge is held a little longer by these girls as opposed by the Industry standard.These girls have gone through the gauntlet true Rockers have endured, even playing a windy day on a "grass" (no fancy stage or props) Castle Park show. They will grow on you when you discover the history in the way they joined forces, why they are not a cookie cutter kawaii Metal/ POP 'production'. I only found out due to watching a stream of a recorded gig of another band i like (Unlucky Morpheus), and people from the west were making coments about how quiet the crowd were, and the band were in chat said that that's the law at the moment in Japan, and that the Japanese are very law abiding. THE best live Rock band in the galaxy. Gifted musicians who are also kawaii but not Kawaii Metal - that is a genre invented by Babymetal's producer and only used by Babymetal. There are lots of superb Japanese bands out there apart from the most superb of all, Band-Maid, including Lovebites, Wagakki Band and Ningen Isu. Anyway, back to Band-Maid - Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Best rockband on planet earth right now. Naturally formed band, all are really close together (best friends), they are creating their own music and are SO COOL characters. Really humble, funny and they always show their love towards their fans. I am listening to music for a very long time and Band-Maid is something special, how they can cruise through all kinds of different riffs, genres, paces and changes is MASTERFUL! I am a guy up there in years (born 1960) who has been listening to rock/metal for about 50 years. I discovered Band-Maid shortly after the start of the pandemic by watching this same video. I was so impressed that I began listening to quite a few Japanese bands and I have discovered that I enjoy the music of the all-female bands. The all-female rock/metal music scene has been around for about 40 years beginning with the still great Show-Ya that formed in 1982. It really exploded with the formation of the bands Aldious and Destrose around 2008. Those two bands paved the way for all the recent all-female Japanese bands, including my personal favorites - Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. Band-Maid started as a very inexperienced band so much of their early material was not their own. That slowly began to change due to the amazing song writing ability of lead guitarist Kanami Tono. By 2016, when they recorded the album Just Bring It, Band-Maid was in control of their music and sound. Their more recent album, Unseen World, is entirely the product of the band, particularly Kanami. It was released earlier this year, and I put in the top 20 of all albums released this year worldwide.
Lovebites is a true metal band formed in 2016. All members are veterans of other bands so there was not the growing pains that Band-Maid went through. They have released 3 full length albums and several EPs. Close to 50 songs so far and not a bad one in the bunch. Lovebites has become my favorite of the three. You definitely need to listen to them. The best and most common song to start with is Holy War.
Nemophila is the newest of the three having formed in 2019. Like Lovebites, they are all veteran musicians. They have a huge number of covers and original songs on their UA-cam channel. I suggest starting with their live performance of Oiran at the Naon no Yaon 2021 music festival (an all female rock festival started by Show-Ya in 1987). Enjoy!

The maid costumes aren't just a gimmick, they are a connection to their beginnings. Miku, the rhythm guitarist and second vocalist, founded the band while working as a maid in a maid cafe.
Band-Maid is an extremely talented band !! They have become my favorite band and i listen to them every day =) Some suggestions "Thrill" - "Dice" - Blooming they have so many great songs. Band-Maid shines when playing live !! Great Reaction =) btw you don't need that heart over video, they don't block songs as long as you stop a couple of times .

Did anyone say that Rock was dead? Well, until a few years ago I belonged to those who claimed that with all seriousness. Then by chance I came across the video 'Thrill' of these ladies. Since then, what I thought was dead couldn't be more alive than ever. And so, by now, very many out there think that these ladies are by far the best thing the rock genre has had to hear and see in decades.
And that EACH of these ladies has massive individual talent is absolutely true. But what makes them special is that they know how to use it as a group. No ego, everything for the result of every single song and performances like this one show that they also have a huge amount of fun with all that. In all seriousness, these ladies make a hell of a lot of bands, even the biggest ones out there, look pretty bad.

It is called....Domination.
Maybe can sound strange, but now, Japan have a really large number of all-female bands in rock and even heavy metal. Most of them incredibly good at all levels.
Band Maid falls more into the hard rock style, but there´s a lot of metal band (all female) like Nemophila, Aldious, Mary´s Blood and of course Lovebites. Also have a lot of female fronted bands like Unluck Mortheus among a lot more.
All of them with a really high level of performance playing their instruments. Maybe because in High School in Japan is mandatory to learn to play and instrument in almost all the schools. Also they have really good music schools.
More all female bands... of course Scandal, Shonen Knife, Brats, Show-Ya, Fate-Gear, Bridear, Destrose (no longer in active but some of their components now in other bands), Trident... the list is really long.
Babymetal really falls into the "Idol" music. The company do their songs and music and have their musicians. But all of the above are all legit bands who play their instruments.
If Band Maid looks "hard", try Lovebites. They sing in english and they shred really hard

Yes, you can be kawaii and an awesome player at the same time! Welcome to our lair - the lair of the MAIDIAC. It's sometimes difficult to get our friends to give these ladies a chance because of the way they look, but once you see and hear them play, it's over. Once you listen to enough of their songs, there is the inevitable realization that you are witnessing the best hard rock band in the world - and I'm totally serious. As players, they are truly magnificent, but it's the combination of their songwriting and arranging (not matched since a certain Paul and John), the sheer joy that their music brings (your face will hurt from smiling and who doesn't like that in today's world) and the fact that each of them are equally talented and all get their turn to shine. Their music is also very clever in that there is complexity that you don't catch the first time through - and you can listen to the same song over and over and it just gets better. Not that you have to because they have a gazillion songs and they're all very good to holy crap in quality. Enjoy the ride - I have been for over 3 years now.
BAND MAID calls it THE GAP! there's a gap between how someone appears and what they do. Miku has said that was what she was going for.

MIKU found KANAMI by chance watching UA-cam videos KANAMI was making
KANAMI thought MIKU was a strange girl - but without any reluctance she joined with MIKU and thought the maid uniforms were cute while playing the rock music.
KANAMI contacted AKANE as the drummer
AKANE contacted MISA as they had gone to music school together
MISA was hesitant to join as she was not into the maid outfits.
Changes to the outfits were made for MISA
MIKU thought here voice "lacked potency" she says "I want more coolness" so she went looking for another singer to do twin vocals.
MIKU found SAIKI who was singing on her own. MIKU's manager said that if MIKU told SAIKI the truth about the maid outfits SAIKI would probably not join. So MIKU tricked SAIKI into joining the band.
SAIKI says "they told me there were 5 girl members and made me listen to the songs. She remained silent about the maid outfits or there being a pigeon.
The first live show of the 5 members was decided and the day before was the rehearsal. This was the first time that the 5 members were together.
SAIKI had met the other members but not MIKU. SAIKI says "When I experienced this 'PO' and 'KURUPO' thing it was completely different than hearing about it". This was also the first time she knew about the maid outfits and she could not run away.
SAIKI says "YEAH I WAS TRICKED!"
Why do you say THE GAP like it's some new concept they made up or came up with or whatever, the word is an japanese loan word from english that literally means contrast, whoever translated the Miku interview just didn't care enough to translate it, they do not call what they do THE GAP, they just say it's a cool contrast between the maid outfits and cool hard rock music. @@nomennescio4604 gyappu is a japanese word that means contrast, it is used everywhere in spoken japanese, a lot of early translations that bandmaid fans look up to are full of mistranslated (a lot even the one you linked) because whoever translates them ignore the nuances of the language. Again It is not some big concept Miku came up with or anything like that.
You say there is gyappu in something when there is big contrast between what you expect and what you get and actually it was early japanese band maid fans who said that first after attending there early concerts, it wasn't even Miku who said it first
The tour is The World Domination Tour. The song is Domination, about taking over the world, which is their goal! Miku Kobato, the founder of the band, wanted to create what she called "The Gap", the difference between being cute or kawuii, compared to the hard rock music they play, and you picked up on it. The big difference between Band Maid and Baby Metal is the latter is a studio created group with a backing metal band. Band Maid, on the other hand, is self created, and all play the instruments and for the last several albums, write, arrange, and compose most of their songs. Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing cool songs with a maid costume. One of the best rock bands in the world today! They had a cameo in the Netflix movie Kate early this year. Blooming and Choose Me. One song you can see them playing in the background.

A band that is just as talented but heavier is NEMOPHILA. They are still a new band only a couple of years old but with great songs and they do covers that are fun and very popular with the fans.
Fun fact. Band-Maid almost disbanded after 2 years because they didnt get popular in Japan. Before going through with it though, their manager said they were super popular online with people from Mexico. So they decided to do 1 concert abroad, in Mexico. They exploded internationally after that.
The reason we have Band-Maid today is thanks to Mexican people. lol

The song is called Domination, the hello is for two reasons, first is to get the audience involved with song by yelling back hello, when you see them live in person it is awesome! 2. Kanami Tono (Irad Guitar) was the first member of this band, He was a singer and songwriter, before joining the band, and Miku found Kanami through an internet search site.
3. Akane Hirose (drummer), is the second band member connected through Kanami, Akane has a music school background, jimmy page (led zeppelin guitarist) met Akane after the show, Jimmy said, Akane's drumming style reminded him of their drummer in led zeppelin
4. Misa (bass player) was the third member, before the support band Misa had her own band (I forgot the name of the band, lol), but from the start she had amazing skills, because Misa also had a music school background, and was in school the same as Akane (they were close friends at school)
5. Saiki atsumi, is the fifth member of this band, saiki was a singer before the support band was formed,
6. Band Maid once did a live broadcast on Twitch with Herman Li (Dragonforce)
7. Band Maid once participated in the Knot-fest event (slipknot) but was delayed due to covid, and in the end they only did a short cover of the song Slipknot Duality

The song is called Domination. The word Domination was in Japanese. They are different from Baby Metal, etc. They play the instruments. Check out Freedom live or Warning or Real Existence live.
If your looking for something more like Babymetal but were the girls are also actually playing the instruments I'd go with Nemophilia or Lovebites. Those two groups are more metal bands but not part of the Kawai metal phenomenon and are strait up Metal bands even if the girls/wemon are cute. Band Maid is more Kawai hard rock if you want to put on it. They often get put into the category of BabyMetal as they are the second most recognized group after them but they are quite different as BabyMetal has men playing the instruments while the girls sing and dance only.
A note. Baby Metal may be broken up. They went on an indefinite hiatus this year. Lovebites also went on a hiatus as they lost their basest.
Babymetal is/was not a band but an act. Very good back-up band, very good singer, put together by a studio boss. Not my thing, not much wrong with it either, but not compareable with Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Bridear, Galmet, Aldious, Gacharic Spin, Destrose, Fate Gear, and so on.
I mean no offense but there are a lot of all female bands in Japan now. All the way from pop to rock to metal.
It is called Domination.
Band-Maid often don't have the name of the song in the song.

Band maid is a great band. I havent heard a bad song from them yet. You need to check out Nemophila to. They are out of this world good to.
They are masters at rockin’ hard then slowing it down so you can absorb the music you heard. Then they pick it up again then rock out hard. If you want to be absolutely blown away try Blooming.
Band Maid is not a a Kawaii metal band. The corporation that made Baby Metal as a product ,more like so an Idol concept. The girls in baby metal were instructed to use this made up term , Kawaii metal to explain the new genre the corporation was selling to the public. Now Band Maid is a real musician based band that composes all their material . The band is actually a group of professional musicians that was founded by Miku Kobato ( Back vocals and guitar) as an idea she had for a while of a band using the contrast of maids that can rock out on stage. She went out there and found the band members and have one of the most unique sounds across many rock and punk genre’s out there today. This is the real real deal !

Babymetal was the heavy music club of Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy). A producer with a unique idea for a concept took them on. They went viral and then the corporation made them a product.
Good reaction! This is not Kawai metal btw this is just a hard rock band. Kawai metal isn't even a genre, it is a gimmick made by Babtmetal and is about idol bands that dance and sing to metal music (idols are basically company/producer made groups that generally only sing and dance). This is an actual hard rock/metal band not idols or anything like that, there is an actual reason they dress the way they dress and an actual real backstory behind it from their founding member (the cute looking rhythme guitarist) and not just some production who told them to do it

BAND-MAID are not Kawaii Metal. They consider themselves to be Hard Rock, though they have many influences, Power Pop, Punk Funk, Metal & Jazz. They shapeshift effortlessly though genres, sometimes within the same song. They are a genre unto themselves. The song is 'Domination' and the tour is The Domination World Tour. Their stated goal is World Domination. Check out 'Freedom' LIVE from the same tour. Or try 'Real Existence' LIVE from an earlier tour.

Almost all of the popular Japanese bands play their own instruments. These women are just better at it than most bands and the lead guitarist (she writes all of the music) is one hell of a writer.
I'll leave all the heavy lifting to the rest of the maidiacs in this comment section, I just want to suggest you get to know Band Maid, because when you do, you will have opened up into a whole new world of musical possibilities, good luck and keep searching for female Japanese herd rock/metal bands, you will be shocked at how many there are and how unfrikinbelievable they are.
They are touring America this year. Dates have not been announced yet!
They lure you into a false sense of security with the cute outfits and timid smiles; only to kick you into the teeth with their music, and you beg them for more.
Baby Metal are bopping chipmunks in front of a real metal band. Band Maid are musicians, leader guitar, drummer and bass player are all concert level pianists. They have musical talent off the scale and lead guitar, Kanami writes all their songs- second guitar Miku who formed the band writes the lyrics. They are not metal they have their own rock based genre but do wonderful acoustic versions. They are the best rock band in the world.
Freedom, Secret Maiko Lips, Dice, Blooming, YOLO, No God... actually any video or live video on their channel, you can't go wrong.
Band-Maid and Kami Band are good friends. A lot of the band are good friends...so don't feel weird when some people try to pit them against each other.
Please react also to Nemophila and their songs Dissension and Life. Together with Babymetal and Band Maid they belong to the all-female Japanese giants in hard rock and heavy metal.
By the way your analyse is right: The Japanese fraulein wonder in heavy music started about 15 years ago (the break-through was Babymetal) as a mean of emancipation from the strict Japanese society rules, combined with superb musical craftsmanship (all ladies started to play piano at the age of 3-4, most of them play multiple instruments) and an infrastructure for female bands (specialised schools run by the music industry, the Anime industry as an employer, female-only festivals etc.).
"Domination" is still pretty relax...wait until you guys hear "No God" and "I Still Seek Revenge" from the "Unseen World" album.
Crazy thing is Band-Maid is evolving everytime they release new music, but if you're stuck with their UA-cam uploads, you will miss out.
I think that's what a lot of reaction channels missed out on, they react and have a criticism...but B-M will usually addressed that by the next year or they'll explore a new sound.
The Algorithm brought me here, LOVE Band-Maid, but currently falling hard for Nemophila, I recommend Revive or Hypnosis, they play their own instruments too!!!!!

Both are great but I don't understand how people are even comparing them, they're not the least bit similar..
Freedom is the next video you should watch. It's from the same show. It has a Kick-Ass drum solo.
Their idea of the world domination is that everybody in the world know their songs; therefore, "Hello" to the world.
I suggest you to check "Manners" (MV) next. It is their determination song, and in the lyrics, they are clearly stating they never give up their dream of the world domination.

My way was similar: From Baby Metal to Band Maid and on to Nemophila. As Band Maid the five ladies are all far above average musicians, but they are more heavy metal than hard rock. Their hardest songs are Dissension and Revive, their most touchy and emotional song is Life and their funniest is a short cover of the Banana Song. From there YT will propose you dozens of other great songs.
Band Maid, though they may incorporate elementsof metal, funk and genre fluidity, and in their early days verged on pop rock, are principally a hard rock band; not kawaii metal one. There are plenty of idolcore groups who have owed their existence to Babymetal though - Iron Bunny, Ladybaby, etc, with other alt idol groups ramping up the rock/metal in their music mixes.

I'll let the rest of the Band Maid fanfare explain your newly out of touch discovery. I saw them on JMelo in 2015 and I liked how different these girls are, not too much of a formula band where (for one example)the bridge is held a little longer by these girls as opposed by the Industry standard.These girls have gone through the gauntlet true Rockers have endured, even playing a windy day on a "grass" (no fancy stage or props) Castle Park show. They will grow on you when you discover the history in the way they joined forces, why they are not a cookie cutter kawaii Metal/ POP 'production'. In general you have joined the magic carpet ride of the world in Japan's Women of Rock and Metal no where else this massive on our planet! Fuck the other planets...this one ROCKS!

I only found out due to watching a stream of a recorded gig of another band i like (Unlucky Morpheus), and people from the west were making coments about how quiet the crowd were, and the band were in chat said that that's the law at the moment in Japan, and that the Japanese are very law abiding.
It may be the reason Babymetal have gone into hiatus at the moment, as they are very interactive with the crowd.
