This is their very first music video ever. This was 6 years ago. You should see them now! Check out the live videos. Best rock band on this planet!! You will get many comments. Be prepared.
Don't stop here folks - you won't have a true grasp of them until you hear 4 or 5 songs. They are one of the hardest working real live hard rock bands out there - and many of us think the best in the world. This is a very early song and they've come a LONG way from here. Try either Real Existence Live 2018 or Domination Live 2018 next (because they are even better live). Their songs are all so different, you just don't get tired of them, and they've got a LOT of songs, like over 100 with NO duds. They are that good. This song is great but doesn't show the extent of their playing ability. After the two above, check out a couple of their newer tracks, like Manners and Warning. Honestly you can't go wrong - literally any song of theirs is great, which leads to my last point. Not only are they now an extremely talented and tight band, but their songwriting and arranging is silly good. You've got bass solos, multiple guitar solos in the same song (often underneath vocals) and even drum solos (Freedom Live Feb 2020). Buckle up! (Oh - and they have this knack for making you smile until your face hurts.)
This band is founded on five steel pillars and none of them is weak. They put most other bands in this genre at the moment to shame. P.S. welcome to the pigeon nest 😜
Hello to Sweden! The founder of the band Miku Kobato (the singer with guitar) worked in a Maidcafe, hence the outfits. The mix of songs is really unique, rock, metal, progrock and pop in one package. You should see them live, then you can see how good they are and they are incredible! I am an old school rocker and can't get away from them. Band-Maid make such a good mood!!! I suggest the live version of Domination next.
The journey of a thousand subscribers starts with a single BAND-MAID song. They definitely play their own instruments. Well, except Miku, the rhythm guitar player/band founder, couldn't actually play her guitar yet. She was originally going to be the lead singer but realized she didn't have a strong enough voice for the style of rock they wanted to play and stepped down. She started learning guitar from Kanami, the lead guitarist, and shifted to backing vocals when Saiki joined the band as the lead vocalist. Here's some links to live performances because this band is at it's best live 'Domination' -- ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html 'Real Existence' -- ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html 'Play' -- ua-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/v-deo.html And here's an instrumental for good measure, 'Onset' -- ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html
I believe this video was Miku's first encounter with the guitar. The video director thought it would look better if one of the singers was holding a guitar and Miku got stuck with it. Kanami taught her a few simple chords so she wouldn't look like an idiot. Afterwards, Akane 'suggested' that Kanami teach Miku how to really play to improve the rhythm section. And in six years, Miku goes from 'where do I put my hands?' to her own solos.
Welcome to the world of BAND-MAID. These talented ladies have been rocking since 2013. Their music are mostly hard rock but they do have songs that are heavier with metal elements as well as ballad if you fancy slower songs. This particular song was their debut MV and has garnered 14M+ views so far. They are phenomenal live performers and I encourage you to watch "Domination", "Play", or "Freedom" from their official channel to witness their greatness. If you prefer to see their latest, then please check out "Warning!", "Manners", "After Life" or "About Us", which is a ballad tribute to their fans. Your journey has just began and is ready for you to explore their 100+ discography, in which, every single one is good. They do not have a single bad song, and I kid you not. Thanks for reacting to them and looking forward for some more.
Great to see you both looking into Band-Maid as well as Babymetal. Just for a moment, forget they're all female and forget they're dressed as maids. Two members (MISA - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians who studied at the Tokyo Academy of Music while Kanami, the lead guitarist, has also been playing piano since the age of 3 or 4 but is concert standard (almost unbelievably, given her skills, she only switched to guitar about 10 years ago!) They all have superb musical ability as well as passion, a lack of ego and the drive to play real, in your face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Music they write themselves, real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals. They are all really close friends and know how to have fun together on stage, confident as they are in each others’ abilities and skills. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the DVD they released in April. Thanks for all the info and song tips. My attraction to bands has always been the soul of the music, the feel etc and not musical ability, that doesn't matter much to me but it IS fun to see people who master their instruments as well. I know Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen was huge in Japan cause of his fast playing and incorporation of classical music in his songs but that's never really been my bag. As I always say, music is not a sport. The fastest doesn't win :-)
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 If you don't rate musical ability as important but love the soul put into it then I should send you some recordings of me playing guitar and piano. I can't play at all but I do put my heart into it. It sounds shit but good to know someone will enjoy it! 🤣😂 See a Bandmaid live performance if you want to see soul as I have never seen any band as full of friendship and joy as these ladies when they play together. Their latest song About Us moves me to tears every time I hear it as it's so subtle and heartbreaking in its soulful lyrics on the loneliness that Covid has brought and a hope for a brighter future when live music will return. It has English subtitles. ua-cam.com/video/qicgVAxCYV8/v-deo.html
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 If thats the case I think you will enjoy Kanami (the guitarist) because while she is a really talented and skilled shredder she also knows to stop in time and leave you wanting for more. The best part about Band-maid is that every member gets their time to shine, which you will see once you start watching their live songs. And they are always so god damn happy giving 100% every show. They have as much energy on their second to last song as in their second in a set list of 23 clocking in at 2 hour shows. Its amazing.
Miku, the founder, he managed to gather very talented people. Kanami is a genius, the music of the BAND-MAID is her creation. Akane as well as Misa are "monsters". Akane with her solid drumming. Misa was amazing too. And anyone will agree with Saiki's abilities and beautiful voice.. Meanwhile Miku, She may not be as musically capable as the other four. But miku is miku, she is the center.

Great reaction and at first listen to Band-Maid, a lot of people struggle with "that sounds like????" They have a unique sound that is all their own but reminds people of something they've heard before. To me this is probably the best hard rock band currently playing and they have just gotten better and better from when this MV as released and they started writing their own songs. They spent a lot of time playing small clubs from many years, honing their skills and becoming one of the best live bands today. Pick any video from their channel, they are all good and the live are better.
Great Reaction... Everything they've done is good. They really start to figure out their sound in 2016, and have become completely realized in their last 3 albums.
Wow! Two "Continuez, s'il-vous-plaît" in two different reactions, I have no choice but to subscribe! I wish both of you much joy in discovering BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID... By the way, greetings from Quebec City, Canada
hello Sweden you just found the best hard rock band on the planet :) 7 albums in 7 years plus singles not on the albums and you have a catalogue thats over 114 songs and each one is a new experience to enjoy. there are no bad songs only some that are not as awesome as others lol I look forward to sharing your journey down the pigeon hole... po! super talented band as you will soon discover. Cheers from Canada
Heia Sverige! This band is my reintroduction to hard rock. I was an avid Guns'n'Roses fan back in the days, ventured into bands like Extreme, and the grunge scene was my final visit into hard rock before I focused on metal. When I listened to Band-Maid for the first time, it was like greeting an old friend I hadn't seen in a while. The good song writing was what drew me deeper and deeper into their discography, together with their kickass drummer Akane. I love a good drummer! A lot of Band-Maid fans have already suggested tons of popular songs already, so I will suggest a hidden gem instead: "I still seek revenge". One of their grooviest and heaviest songs. That bass and drumming! Greetings from Norway
Heja Norge 😊👍🏻 Yeah Guns are great and I was a HUGE grunge fan. Thanks for the song tip as well. Yeah great drummers are a real treat for me too. Either technical or expressive or both.
Welcome aboard, Danny & Sandy. You are embarking on (along with many others - 100 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (over a 110 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World”), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular. Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, and Just Bring It drive even more - Manners, Different, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts! And many are represented with over 35 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ua-cam.com/video/__1th7ctgMo/v-deo.html, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: ua-cam.com/video/4uIYBkAybCI/v-deo.html, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: ua-cam.com/video/usWZvlGGDSs/v-deo.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.). Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 27 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 29 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 29 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 30 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 28 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! DVD/BD/CD NOW AVAILABLE OF BAND-MAID’S RECENT 2 ½ HOUR ONLINE LIVE OKYU-JI CONCERT. IT IS AWESOME!! 28 SONGS! bandmaid.tokyo/contents/407049
Good to see swedes getting in on the band-maid act when you have so much good rock music in your own country. Thrill has a special place in the heart of band maid fans, a taster of their immense talent and what was to follow and still continues, forv recent song check their video to the song 'warning'. 🤘🤘
Band-maid has come a looong way since this mv came out. They were good back then with songs written FOR them. They started writing and arranging their own songs shortly after that and have been releasing album (and a single) every year, working, practicing and rehearsing tirelessly and improved from good to great to crazy over the last 5 years. I can't wait you react to their new stuff.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 I saw it. Pity you didn't enjoy it as much as we did, but hey it's just your taste and I've no complaints. There are also surprising number of female fans like me, and number is growing. For people like you the band's catchy vocal melody might be always a put off. Maybe you can track down onset, without holding back, Giovanni, H-G-K and No God instrumental version. If you're interested in their instrumentals, give these a try in your private time.
Originally, Kanami played Addictone guitars but once she was noticed, she’s been PRS all the way! Kanami- PRS / Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier + 8 or 9 different pedals Miku- Zemaitis Custom / EVH 5150 (EDDIE VAN HALEN) stack + various pedals MISA- Black Cloud custom 5 string bass / Orange stack Akane- Drum Kit: Tama Star Bubinga, Snare Drum: Ludwig, Cymbals: Zildjian (left to right) Oh, by the way- JIMMY PAGE OF (LED ZEPPELIN) loves BAND-MAID, enough said....
That's cool because the guitar body has Ibanez written all over it and I was always wondering what kind of guitar she was playing. PRS Guitars are made 30 minutes from my home in Maryland.
They say you have to walk before you can run. Band-Maid isn't even crawling here. You're correct, this is a rock band, not a metal band. This song went viral some years ago which is why it is their most popular video, but they were performing their record company's music at this point. They really took off once they were allowed to perform their own music. You're not going to get Dream Theater from this band -- I see you've reacted to DT before -- but Band-Maid have come a long, long, LONG way since this video. Try "Warning!" from their latest album for a quite basic introduction of where they are today. If you're feeling daring, maybe you can find the audio track of "Giovanni" (not the instrumental version, which is great, but the regular version with vocals) to see what they are capable of. I see you struggling to compare them with someone. I think that's because they blend modern techniques and classic sounds filtered through Japan, and that results something particular: Band-Maid. And, yes, they play their instruments. PS, nice Living Colour reference. You'll find A LOT of Band-Maid fans from that era. There's a lot of us who feel this band is rescuing rock and roll from the doldrums of the last 20 years.
Thanks for all the info! Yeah I like when people write their own music, just adds a layer of genuinity that I like. I grew up on Iron Maiden and Kiss so I've been around rock/metal music for a long time and even though it's fun with amazing musicians I'm MUCH more of a song guy if you know what I mean. Emotion, groove etc that's what I really go for usually.
From this debut MV to now...the evolution is phenomenal! Like others I strongly suggest to react to their live performances. Specifically the ones that say "Official Live Video", that comes from their UA-cam page. Professional live videos with great audio engineering. I recommend watching "Domination" Official Live as a starter.
Nice start - you guys are a good team. These ladies are now great musicians - composing and playing their own music and lyrics. Generally their music does have a heavy rock feel, and a distinctive catchy, fun or uplifting effect, especially on stage. Their catalogue is now deep, seven albums and several recorded performances. And their songs can range from classic to progressive rock, with a few ballads and borderline metal.
Thanks! Great info. I'm not really a rock ballad kinda guy(I used to love Scorpions' Wind of change as a kid though) but I'm very curious about seeing more of them.
I saw this when it first came out and my first thought was "can they really play?" but there were no real live videos around at the time so I concluded "no". I was SO wrong as you found out much quicker than I could! I actually took a chance and saw them live four years ago, and I was absolutely impressed. Fan for life. Misa Misa Misa! Kurupo! Po!
Reacting to Band Maid... I subscribe. What these amazing ladies have evolved in to is a thing of beauty. Looking forward to seeing your future Band Maid reactions, thank you 🔥🖤
Thank you for your honest reactions to the gateway song to BM!. Looking forward to watching more of your reactions to BM. I'm curious as to how you'll approach selecting their songs. Will you be selecting from their older songs first or go on recommendations from madiacs? FYI their newer MV's have English cc which will make it less painless to understand the lyrics but as many have said their musicianship, passion, showmanship, is apparent in their live performances. Recommended MVs are "Different" commissioned for an anime called Log Horizon S3 released last Dec. "Warning" and "Manners" is off their new album released in Jan. Ciao!
Thanks! I'll probably choose randomly but I am quite curious about 2 things right now. 1. Hearing one of their songs live recorded. 2. Hearing something newer by them. Yeah I'm not so worried about understanding the lyrics initially, it's more about the feel of the songs for me. Thanks for the song tips as well.
"It reminds of Ozzy Osbourne...the guitars and everything...kinda heavy but not dark..." Exactly! Even more than Zakk Wylde, the lead guitarist Kanami's work often reminds me of Randy Rhoads before him. Frequently riff-based, extremely tight playing, always musical intention over mere flashiness. They are very fine musicians who cite a wide range of musical influences. They play with many different genres...but at this point, they are their own genre, Band-Maid. These women are my favorite band in the world right now. Enjoyed your reaction.
They take elements from all kinds of music and fuse them into a strong rock sound, IMHO. And are unafraid to experiment and develop. Founder Miku (second vocalist-guitarist, in pigtails and the mostly-white uniform) worked in a Maid Cafe for a time and always wanted a rock band. So she formed the idea of combining the cutesy maid outfits and persona and the blasting people with a strong sound. And she personally recruited lead guitarist Kanami, who knew and had worked with drummer Akane, who had been in music school with and worked with bassist Misa. Then they recruited their charismatic frontwoman Saiki and proceeded to kick arse and shake the rock world. My #1 band from first listen, 5+ years now. And even better live.
One of the better Rock bands out today... Everyone at first is amazed by the bassist MISA, You'll see in future performances why they call her "the Barefoot Assassin".. She does the most amazing base solo's and then Konami "lead guitar' follows behind her and starts melting your face of.. and you don't even care because they are so happy performing it's infectious.. I can't watch a Band Maid video and not have a giant smile on my face the entire way thru
There is something called "the Gap" in Japan meaning the difference in what you see (demure maids) and what you are hearing Rock music. This MV saved the band, they were struggling at the time this video was posted on Facebook. In 2 weeks it got 2 million views, the band thought the video had been hacked. When checked into it, not only was it for real. Nearly half the views were from the Europe and the US. Shortly after they played at an Asian Festival in Seattle, WA to an audience of 3000, their biggest audience. From there they have toured Europe almost every year and in 2019 they played 5 concerts in the US in New York City, Dallas and LA all sold out!
WOW!!! Had to comment. You're the first people I've seen make a connection to 80s/90s Hard Rock, which is how they sound to me. Kind of Heavy along the lines of even White Zombie at times (you'll see it when you hear more of their stuff), but not as dark. Yep, 80s/90s. I see a lot of people saying 2000s pop punk, and I can see it in a couple of their songs, but the sound is far more 80s/90s (which is what I grew up with) most of the time. A bunch of their chord progressions and such are straight hair band metal/rock from the 80s/90s. Edit: Nice Living Colour reference, forgot to mention that, and for this track that's definitely on point. This has very much the same kind of drive in it that Cult of Personality, for example, did/does.
I think I've only heard More Human Than Human by White Zombie so I'm not too familiar with their style. And yeah I've heard a few tracks have that pop-punky chorus which at times I dig and sometimes it doesn't really do anything for me. Yeah I grew up on Iron Maiden and Kiss and then Metallica and then early 90's hip-hop then grunge then Uk indie(Stone Roses, Oasis) and then on and on. Yeah I used to LOVE Cult Of Personality when it came out.
While Band-Maid are the reigning Rock Queens of Japan (ofcourse imo), Nemophila a recently formed supergroup of veterans, handsdown takes the crown for Metal. You’ve got to check out their latest release “Dissension” official MV. They’re 🔥 I’m sure you’ll like them, just come prepared coz they really bring the heat.
In this video Miku (red flower in hair) the founder of the band had not learned to play the guitar yet, but the rest of them are skilled musicians. But Miku has learned well to play the guitar since then thanks to Kaname the lead guitarist.
they definitely stay on the border between hard rock and heavy metal. more on hard rock. comparing them to ozzy is awesome for them. just came off of you guys reacting to babymetal. great reaction. if you want any reactions i would say domination live

Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-KOO - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Kanami Tono - kah-NAH-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. Akane Hirose - ah-KAH-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. MISA - MEE-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Saiki Atsumi - SAH-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl.
At that point...seven years ago, the rhythm guitarist and backing vocal singer (Miku) used the guitar only as a prop, but through the years she has learned to play, with the lead guitarist (Kanami) as teacher.
You want to hear Onset live, then Freedom live. This is around 2019-2020. So you'll see how much they've cohesive. And are having fun when there playing.
A bit of ACDC, a bit of Black Sabbath, a bit of Van Halen, a bit of Pantera, etc., etc. You will hear all sorts of flavors by listening to Band-Maid songs. This band knows how to brew a rich blend. Their catalog is amazingly wide and diverse. But what makes it unique is eventually and truly the singers (Saiki as lead and Miku as backup) voices harmonizing and especially, the lead singer's voice. People don't realize how special her voice is. She has that vocal signature recognizable amongst all. Listening to Saiki speaking in an interview gives a hint. She has a raspy deep voice so surprising to hear coming out of such a gracile tiny body.
When trying to explain Band-Maid's sound I used to say "More UFO than Metallica", then they dropped the video for "Onset".... and I found myself waiting on Phil Mogg to come out and start the vocals for "Lights Out".
These lady's will sometimes combine 3 or 4 different genres of music in the same song....but it all works !!! The musicianship, composition and vocals are always outstanding ! Please react to something live....its their charm😎
OMG Your in for a treat with Band Maid They have a ton of music and you would be hard pressed to find a bad song One thing though, you really like their outfits *Spoiler* Akane the drummer, loses the little hat So if you react to newer songs don't be to disappointed RIP Tiny Hat
You are from Sweden.. so let me tell you that, I love Firs Aid Kit, those 2 ladys are so great. I like also like Band-Maid a lot, all Band-Maid's songs are good.
Whenever people react to Band Maid and BabyMetal the conversation will get around to comparing the two. I love them both but cannot compare them musically because they are two completely different entities. I can explain the difference between them though. Band Maid is simply the bet rock band on the planet today. BabyMetal is something more, a state of mind, an unstoppable movement, and a force for good. It was BabyMetal that led me to Band Maid, and to Wagakki Band, and to Doll$Boxx, Sakura Gakuin, Sabaton, the Hu Band, and more recently Atarashii Gakkou.
Listen to their new album “Unseen World “ and especially the song “Manners “. It’s gonna blow you away. I’m a long time fan of Band Maid. Love Japan and love Japanese rock. 🤘
Here come the Maidiacs. Best rock band in the world. Watch the live stuff, they'll blow you away. This is their very first MV, they are much, much better now. Have fun.
This video launched then into the limelight . Before this video they weren’t doing so good . But they decided to just go for it . The rest is history . Lead singer is called Saiki ,rhythm guitar is the founder and her name is Miku , kanami is lead guitarist, Akane on drums and bassist is called Miss.
I've been listening to a variety of artist driven music (as opposed to mass produced synthesised rubbish) for over 30 years ... and I can say without ANY reservation whatsoever ... that this is the BEST hard rock band I have seen for balanced, individual technicality and group cohesive performance in decades ... and there's been a lot come and go in the last couple of decades ... these girls remind me of Iron Maiden in their prime 1979-1985 ... except (dare I say it) these girls have so much more scope and variety in their music ... definitely not hair and makeup cuties ... definitely not mass produced garbage and if Kanami doesn't win some sort of Hall-of-fame award for her compositions later in life, there is no justice in this world!! ... Miku (girl with Rickenbacker rhythm guitar in this vid) was the one who came up with the idea for the band and writes a lot of the lyrics - she intended to be the lead vocalist to start with but quickly discovered her vocal range was not what she envisioned for the band and decided to go looking for someone with greater range that she could share the duties with (How freaking adult is THAT move?? - Knowing your limitations and being ok with taking a back seat to the role you were going to play) ... It just shows how mature the whole unit is ... you can see in this vid she spends more time grabbing the microphone and doing backing vocals and the camera avoids her hands-on-guitar frames - that's because she was only just starting to learn the craft at the stage that this music vid was made (Kanami is her teacher). You should see her now though ... Kanami is getting to focus more and more on complex lead work because Miku is VERY proficient with her side of the equation now - and has selected a brand and style of guitar that she likes best (replacing the Rickenbacker that she first used because she thought it looked stylish and had a good brand name) ... she's the band spokesperson and the all rounder ... Rhythm, backing vocals - and the crowd entertainer while the others grab a breather during the set. MISA is the Bass guitarist with mystique. She tends to look like she's rocking out to her own private party most-times ... though happy to interact with the crowd or other band members occasionally - she likes walking around on stage barefoot and is referred to as the barefoot assassin, carries her own bottle of alcohol on stage and loves whiskey ... Akane, referred to as A-Chan or Gorilla (when the other band members are teasing her) is the eldest and really the one that the rest look up to as the leader ... was the second band member recruited by Miku after Kanami ... a VERY accomplished drummer, she had done some session work with Kanami in the past and suggested MISA to the other girls for Bass work. Jimmy Page (yep - didn't misspell that at ALL!!!) was so impressed with her work at a concert (referred to her as being like John Bonham reincarnated I think?!) that he asked to have a photo taken with her backstage after the gig ... Akane (bless her) initially thought she was being pranked - The girls look up to ground breakers like this guy (wish a few more in western culture would do that today!!). Saiki was recruited by stealth ... she still recounts that she thought the music was brilliant - but thought Miku (and the others) was off her rocker when the maid outfits were trotted out ... she took a day or so think it over before joining ... Now these girls are inseparable - best of friends off stage as well as on it ... happy in their work - and it shows on stage!! Performers of the highest calibre and continually striving to do better all the time.
This was their first official video and some people say it looks like they are not really playing their instruments but they are. They have grown over the years and are amazing and their live videos are great. Try some of these recommendations, Dice or Blooming and live performances like Domination, Freedom, Play, and Don’t you tell me are all great. So many great songs to pick from I could name many more, very catchy and rocking!!
You are quick :) I love their image as well. From My (male) perspective view what I like the most is their outfits are classy and elegant but badass in the same time. The same with their dance moves. You know, without all this sexy bouncing butts and showing naked parts of their bodies. Their moves are unique and focus on the songs they singing. They just showing what they singing.
They do have 1 complete English song: Don't let me down ua-cam.com/video/0YGwUhg2XNk/v-deo.html Though the song was not written by Band-Maid and is already quite old (about 4,5 years). You might check it anyway. Then there is an instrumental song: Onset ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html
This is very much their Maidette stage, they have developed into the best hard Rock band on the planet no exceptions. I have a play list that I use to introduce people to BM, but honestly they have 50+ really good to great songs, they are a hit machine. It goes Real Existence > Non Fiction Days > Don't you tell ME > Dice > Blooming > Different > Manners. then you can start on where they really excel which is live. The only band that I can name that has the range that BM do and it's Queen of the Stone Age.
Although they're known for being uplifting (fans will tell you that starting every day with a Band-Maid song will improve your life), the lyrics on the later songs they wrote themselves are also pretty serious at the same time. Japanese fans tell us that Miku (rhythm guitar/2nd vocalist/band founder) has a fairly rare knack for tweaking Japanese for a more varied sound and to fit the vocal melodies that Kanami writes.
This is the first MV...you should check the newer stuff and watch the live version " real existance " , " alone " , " puzzle " or instrumental " without holding back ", thrill is nothing compare to the newer stuff...be prepared...bandmaid4life 🤘🤘 kuurruuuppooo...
Saiku is lead vocalist. Miku (Kuruppo) with the guitar, second vocalist is the band leader. Kanami (mincho) is lead guitarist. Misa (Assassin) is on bass Akane on drums. Do DICE next Check out Onset as well, instrumental. じゃあね
If you hear enough Band Maid you'll notice a difference between their earl stuff and later stuff, the reason is, at the start they were very controlled by the record company on what to play. Then they were on the point of splitting up and they talked the label in to letting them do something they wanted, and it just exploded overseas, so the record company let them do their own thing from that point on. So the 1st 2 albums sound different from the later ones.
Imho: They do not have a single bad song. This is a great song, but they have many, many greater ones. Go for live versions when available (ad they always put some extra on them). Greetings from 🇫🇮
Please don´t make comparisons.Just do enjoy.Theyy´re unique..I believe it´ll be hard to find a band somewhere wich shows all band elements without any compression .You can hear the bass(Misa)and the drums(Akane)while you hear Saiki and Miku voices as solo gtr (Kanami). They make it all as one.I suggest you a recent performance:Freedom
This is one their first MV, they have come along, long way.. Check them out Live.. Dominiation Live.. You'll find out if they play their own instruments
Oh dear, oh dear. It starts off so innocently, doesn't it? You do a little BABYMETAL on the internet. It doesn't matter, nobody will know. And then someone offers you some BAND-MAID... What harm could it do? Give it a go, you'll enjoy it! Maybe try a bit of DOLL$BOXX, or up the game a bit with some Gacharic Spin. Before you know it you're out of control, binging on Unlucky Morpheus while mainlining BiSH and PassCode. Is there any end to the addictions the Japanese music industry will push to you? Only time will tel... [Evil laughter echoes into the night.] It is hard to pin down BAND-MAID's sound. It's based on classic blues rock from the '60s and '70s, but you can certainly hear guitar tones that are not a million miles from those heard on Ozzy's early solo albums. But there's bits of jazz and funk in there too, which is why Living Colour come to mind. The result is "just another rock band" that somehow manages to sound unique. (By the way, there is no significance to the order of the bands/groups mentioned in my first paragraph - they are all equally good in their own ways. Enjoy your trip.)
This is their very first music video ever. This was 6 years ago. You should see them now! Check out the live videos. Best rock band on this planet!! You will get many comments. Be prepared.
Cool, thanks for the tip. I'm used to the Babymetal fans so I think I can handle it...probably :-)
Haha, it all sounds great! Thanks for the info and song tips!
Oh no. 4 to 5 songs ain't enough.
This band is founded on five steel pillars and none of them is weak.
They put most other bands in this genre at the moment to shame.
P.S. welcome to the pigeon nest 😜
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 And I meant to say Domination Live Feb 2020 (Real Existence Live is 2018).
@@Kevin6059 Kevin that's a great comment but surely you meant 45 songs. Lol
Hi! And thanks for the info and suggestion.
Here's some links to live performances because this band is at it's best live

And here's an instrumental for good measure, 'Onset' -- ua-cam.com/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/v-deo.html
Thanks for the info!
Yes to all these songs. And Freedom. Live 2-14-20(me old guy and I have no idea how to link)
Very cool
Band Maid is simply the best there is today, the more you hear them the more you will be amazed at just how good the really are! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂
Looking forward to hearing more.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Listen more and you will know how cool their music is. This song is a bit softer than their other songs
Thanks for all the info and I will definitely react to more. Would like to react to some song of theirs played live.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 As most Maidiacs will point out, their live performances are where they really shine.
Thank you from Japan :)
Thanks for watching :-)
Thanks for reaction, Band Maid will definitely intrigue you, one of the best rock bands you'll see :) (Nice Living Colour reference)
Thanks 😊👍🏻

Great reaction and at first listen to Band-Maid, a lot of people struggle with "that sounds like????" They have a unique sound that is all their own but reminds people of something they've heard before. To me this is probably the best hard rock band currently playing and they have just gotten better and better from when this MV as released and they started writing their own songs. They spent a lot of time playing small clubs from many years, honing their skills and becoming one of the best live bands today. Pick any video from their channel, they are all good and the live are better.
Thank you, great to hear!
They not only play for real- they are the best rock band playing today.
Great Reaction... Everything they've done is good. They really start to figure out their sound in 2016, and have become completely realized in their last 3 albums.
Great to hear, thanks!

Oui monsieur! Thanks for the sub!
"Do they play for real?"
Misa: lol. Hold my whisky.

Don't try to categorize Band-Maid. They don't stay in a box. Listen to more from them, and you'll hear all kind of genres mixed together masterfully.
Thanks!
hello Sweden you just found the best hard rock band on the planet :) 7 albums in 7 years plus singles not on the albums and you have a catalogue thats over 114 songs and each one is a new experience to enjoy. there are no bad songs only some that are not as awesome as others lol I look forward to sharing your journey down the pigeon hole... po! super talented band as you will soon discover. Cheers from Canada
Hi Canada :-) I'm curious as to what's ahead.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 I still listen to Soundgarden now and then. Superunknown is a killer album.
Not sure if Soundgarden is technically grunge, but they often get mentioned in the same breath.
Welcome aboard, Danny & Sandy. You are embarking on (along with many others - 100 million YT views!) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers.
And many are represented with over 35 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids.
Thanks! I actually read all that :-)
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Thanks, Danny. Glad it didn't make you dizzy or worse. 😵
Good to see swedes getting in on the band-maid act when you have so much good rock music in your own country. Thrill has a special place in the heart of band maid fans, a taster of their immense talent and what was to follow and still continues, forv recent song check their video to the song 'warning'. 🤘🤘
Thanks!
Hell yeah, more please, these girls Rock hard!
Will do!
Great! Did domination live today.
Originally, Kanami played Addictone guitars but once she was
noticed, she’s been PRS all the way!
Kanami- PRS / Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier + 8 or 9
different pedals
Miku- Zemaitis Custom / EVH 5150 (EDDIE VAN HALEN) stack + various pedals
MISA- Black Cloud custom 5 string bass / Orange stack
Akane- Drum Kit: Tama Star Bubinga, Snare Drum: Ludwig, Cymbals: Zildjian (left to right)
Oh, by the way- JIMMY PAGE OF (LED ZEPPELIN) loves BAND-MAID, enough
said....
Cool!
That's cool because the guitar body has Ibanez written all over it and I was always wondering what kind of guitar she was playing. PRS Guitars are made 30 minutes from my home in Maryland.
Continue the journey sir and their music will make you feels happy 😁😁😁
Thank you so much for the nice reaction 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks!
Why are you trying to pigeonhole (pun lol) the band?
They have made about 100 songs and almost all of them are excellent.
They stand for themselves.
Thanks! Yeah Domination is on my list.
That was the start of now the best rockband on the world!
Cool!
My favorite hard rock band.. hands down. Love all their music, this was their first MV!
Cool!
Thank you!
Thanks!
BAND-MAID / FREEDOM (Official Live Video)
They have evolved to a profound degree since this video. Ya ain't seen/heard nothing yet!
Cool. Looking forward to hearing more.
Indeed. They look so young on this clip. It’s strange looking at Akane Hirose playing a more basic beat.
Kurupo! Po!
Thanks!
"Oh, that was it?"
Yeah that's what I feel all the time. My only complaint to BM songs is being too short, should last at least twice long😁
Right? :-) My brain bank of music was working overtime.
Reacting to Band Maid... I subscribe. What these amazing ladies have evolved in to is a thing of beauty. Looking forward to seeing your future Band Maid reactions, thank you 🔥🖤
Thanks!
So you like the Bass. Man you are in for a treat here. Looking forward to more Band Maid in the future.
Yeah, did another one today. And the bass didn't disappoint.
Thakns! I've heard of Randy but never listened specifically to his playing.
Cool!
😊👍🏻
Cool!
Welcome to the International Fellowship of Maidiacs...po! Now, immerse your self in the work of the best live rock band in the world, BAND-MAID.
Thanks!
These girls are really talented ! Please watch more of their videos, you won't regret it ! They are unique.
these ladies have been killing the rock scene since they started back in 2013 c-ya
bonjour de Belgique et bienvenu parmi les mediacs de band maid , ce groupe est le meilleur groupe de rock actuel
Bonjour! Je parle pa de Francais(maybe un petit peu). Merci!
Thanks for the tip! I'd like to see something by them live as well.
Great reaction. Band Maid's evolution shows in their new releases. Warning, After Life, Moratorium, Domination, etc.
Thanks!
In this video Miku (red flower in hair) the founder of the band had not learned to play the guitar yet, but the rest of them are skilled musicians. But Miku has learned well to play the guitar since then thanks to Kaname the lead guitarist.
Thanks!
Another all girl Japanese band i think you'll enjoy in Nemophila and their video Dissension
Thank you! Yes this has been suggested and I'm definitely curious.
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘 MISA MISA MISA!!!!! 🤘🤘
Caught up!!! Lovely to (virtually) meet your wife as well!!! 🤗✌
Thanks!
they definitely stay on the border between hard rock and heavy metal. more on hard rock. comparing them to ozzy is awesome for them. just came off of you guys reacting to babymetal. great reaction. if you want any reactions i would say domination live
Thank you! Yes, domination is on the list.

From JAPAN ■ Introducing BAND MAID and the latest news. (^^♪ ★ They have over 100 fascinating songs. ■
Thank you for Reaction BAND MAID. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing cool songs with a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 19-22 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 35 songs have been released on their official UA-cam, all of which are killer songs.
★ The new song "Different" released in December last year has become the theme song for the anime "Log Horizon 3rd Season".
★ They released a new album 14 songs "Unseen World" in January 20 .
★ They released their latest music video "about Us" on February 19th.
★ On May 26th, they will release a DVD / Blu-ray of remastered online live 28 songs on February 11th + 5 other live songs.

Thanks for all the great info!
Thanks!
At that point...seven years ago, the rhythm guitarist and backing vocal singer (Miku) used the guitar only as a prop, but through the years she has learned to play, with the lead guitarist (Kanami) as teacher.
Thanks!
Puzzle live and other 75 songs.
These women are Incredible and they're selling out concert venues left and right.
They def have a 70s/80s rock vibe going on. I'd suggest their songs: Bubble, Manner & Dice. Also maybe some of their live stuff
Thanks!
You want to hear Onset live, then Freedom live. This is around 2019-2020. So you'll see how much they've cohesive. And are having fun when there playing.
Thanks!
Compare them to Band-Maid or Band-Maiko and you are right. To nothing else they are comparable.
Haha, ok!
Thanks!
When trying to explain Band-Maid's sound I used to say "More UFO than Metallica", then they dropped the video for "Onset".... and I found myself waiting on Phil Mogg to come out and start the vocals for "Lights Out".
As many have stated already, this is quite literally just the tip of the iceberg. Please keep exploring their catalog. Live performances are epic!
Thanks!
These lady's will sometimes combine 3 or 4 different genres of music in the same song....but it all works !!! The musicianship, composition and vocals are always outstanding ! Please react to something live....its their charm😎
Thanks! I did Domination.
OMG Your in for a treat with Band Maid They have a ton of music and you would be hard pressed to find a bad song One thing though, you really like their outfits *Spoiler* Akane the drummer, loses the little hat So if you react to newer songs don't be to disappointed RIP Tiny Hat
Haha, the tiny hat was my least favorite thing it the outfits so I'll be ok.
Go straight to their live videos. They are the best live band on the planet. Misa, the barefoot assassin...
You are from Sweden.. so let me tell you that, I love Firs Aid Kit, those 2 ladys are so great. I like also like Band-Maid a lot, all Band-Maid's songs are good.
Yeah FAK are fantastic, love them.
Welcome to Band Maid! Try Daydreaming.........................Akane!!
Thanks!
Cool, thanks.
Listen to their new album “Unseen World “ and especially the song “Manners “. It’s gonna blow you away.
I’m a long time fan of Band Maid. Love Japan and love Japanese rock. 🤘
You should see them now. Keep going with them because they never disappoint
Cool!
Here come the Maidiacs. Best rock band in the world. Watch the live stuff, they'll blow you away. This is their very first MV, they are much, much better now. Have fun.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks! Have done Domination live.
YES, they play their own instruments for real!
Yeah I'm not really a fan of the bouncing butt type either :-)
I thought I coment to BMC by babymetal reaction :D But i like Bannd maid to. They are awesome.
Ah, I see.
Thrill is always the start to band maid
BANDMAID IS THE MOST TALENTED BAND IN THE WORLD BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY! These ladies put male bands to shame! OMG!
Thanks! LOVED onset.
Lolol, 'Do they play for real?' roflmao
Wait till you se a live clip!
Cheers!
Cool. I've never listened to Queens of the stone age actively but heard one song that I like. I wanna hear more of them. Thanks for the tip.
Very good analysis. Suggestions: heaviest is RINNE, nonstop rocker is DICE, most beautiful Daydreaming, my fav BLOOMING, Have at it.
Thanks! Done Rinne, Dice, warning, domination and maybe some more 😁👍🏻
Although they're known for being uplifting (fans will tell you that starting every day with a Band-Maid song will improve your life), the lyrics on the later songs they wrote themselves are also pretty serious at the same time. Japanese fans tell us that Miku (rhythm guitar/2nd vocalist/band founder) has a fairly rare knack for tweaking Japanese for a more varied sound and to fit the vocal melodies that Kanami writes.
Cool!
Freedom live or Domination live by Band Maid. They are truly a live band.
Have done domination, thanks!
This is the first MV...you should check the newer stuff and watch the live version " real existance " , " alone " , " puzzle " or instrumental " without holding back ", thrill is nothing compare to the newer stuff...be prepared...bandmaid4life 🤘🤘 kuurruuuppooo...
Thanks!
Saiku is lead vocalist.
Miku (Kuruppo) with the guitar, second vocalist is the band leader.
Kanami (mincho) is lead guitarist.
Misa (Assassin) is on bass
Akane on drums.
Do DICE next
Check out Onset as well, instrumental.
じゃあね
Thanks!
So... old..so good .. but not their writing.
Go through their catalog to experience the ride!
🤘🤘🤘
Will definitely watch more.
1:11 The quick smile of gratifiation...\m/ You were going to say "Harajuku style"...? lol
I don't know what Harajuku is? :-)
Best rock bands now are, Wagakki band, Lovebites, BandMaid
Now that you have landed within the empire. You can spend the rest of the year reacting to Japanese rock and metal bands.
True
This was their first MV...they're so much better now and they should be experience live so I suggest: Moratorium, Freedom or Domination live :)
Thanks! Did domination today.
Cool! Thanks for the info.
You guys have to do Domination live by Band Maid! You’ll really see them rock
Already done my friend!
Imho: They do not have a single bad song. This is a great song, but they have many, many greater ones. Go for live versions when available (ad they always put some extra on them).
Greetings from 🇫🇮
Thanks neighbour 👍🏻
Please don´t make comparisons.Just do enjoy.Theyy´re unique..I believe it´ll be hard to find a band somewhere wich shows all band elements without any compression .You can hear the bass(Misa)and the drums(Akane)while you hear Saiki and Miku voices as solo gtr (Kanami). They make it all as one.I suggest you a recent performance:Freedom
Thanks! I’ve done Freedom. And I compared it...to my own song called Freedom 😁
This is one their first MV, they have come along, long way.. Check them out Live.. Dominiation Live.. You'll find out if they play their own instruments
Yeah I’ve done quite a few B-M reactions 👍🏻
[Evil laughter echoes into the night.]
It is hard to pin down BAND-MAID's sound.
Hahaha, sounds dangerous. Thanks!
