Hanging a Single Door Frame and Hinged Door on Polytunnel

- Once you have built your polytunnel door, it is time to build the door frame on the end hoop and hang the door - this video shows you how.
Start by measuring 16in either side of centre on the end hoop or door rail (depending on the size of tunnel) and making a mark. Dig a hole underneath each of these marks. Place the first timber door post in the first hole with the inside edge lined up with the mark. Mark the post under the hoop/door rail and cut on this mark. Re-position the door post and, using a P Clip around the hoop/door rail, bolt the post to the clip - make sure that the leg of the 'P' runs down the outside face of the door post. Backfill the hole.
Hang the door on this post leaving adequate room at the bottom for the door to open without catching.
Place the second door post in the second hole and hold up to the door leaving a gap of approximately 6mm between the door and post. Hang the post using the same method as used when hanging the first post and backfill the hole.
Fit the lintel between the two posts 6mm above the door using a nail plate across the joins on the inside, and a 6in nail through the posts into the lintel.

Great videos!Thanks! is there a difference between the method used to attain level ground? i have a 32 ft slightly sloped plot with maybe an inch grade (waiting for level to measure). My thought was to add 1 inch of height to the lower end of the foundation. But i am seeing your method of a dropped floor more often than how i thought to go at it (if ground is unleveled). Can you tell me which is preferred and why? My rational was water drainage. better above ground than below. Ty!

Polytunnels can be built on a slope.
Your construction site should be clear and reasonably level from side to side - 1in sloping ground would not be a concern for building a polytunnel.
Approximately 6in out of level can be accounted for by adjusting the foundation tubes of your polytunnel. On the high side of the slope, drive the foundation tubes in a bit further than is normal and leave the foundation tubes on the low side of the slope protruding a bit further than normal.
A slope from end to end does not have to be taken into account as your polytunnel can be built straight onto this slope with the framework placed at the vertical.
To accommodate a larger slope, longer foundation tubes can be supplied - Please contact the Sales Team to advise if longer tubes are required.

I got lot of spares from your company and I'll follow these instruction for the door. ,What the width of the posts? Are they square? 75x75mm? and for the doors batten? 19mm or 25mm (double up)??? Thank you!

The door frames are 47mm x 75mm timber.
The doors are 25mm x 50mm timber.
The battens (for attaching the polythene and net) are 19mm x 38mm.

How is the cover currently fitted to the polytunnel if there is no door frame on the end? How do you get inside the tunnel?

If you have vents on one or both sides of your polytunnel, you do not need to use netting in the top half of the door if you don't want to. :-)

putting those posts straight into the soil seems like a bad idea, wont they rot out within a few years?
The timber supplied is pressure treated with a wood preserver to protect against rot.
It will need replacing over time, but does last for many years.
