I honestly don’t get why people get so butt hurt when someone decides to review a kids show. These shows are supposed to help form a child’s mind and teach them right from wrong, so for that reason alone kids shows should especially be open to criticism. And honestly dude, you do a great job at that. Your videos are well scripted, well edited and you’re very good at explaining your pros and cons. You are right to review these shows. By doing this, you are advising us that if we have kids, we should watch these shows first before deciding whether we should allow our kids to watch them! Thanks to Caddicarus and PhantomStrider, I know that if I ever have kids, I should NOT let them watch Peppa Pig! I could already tell the Bob The Builder reboot would suck from the teaser image, but you pointed out its visuals aren’t the only bad thing about it!
I'm 14 years old. And yet I LOVE looking back on the shows I loved when I was a toddler (my dad always said my favourite was bob the builder). Then I remember that some of them have been rebooted - and I can't stand them. I sometimes question why I’m already looking back on my past and that I should stop being a loser, but this just reminds me of how it’s fine to do so, and it’s fun to complain. Cheers James. Hello James a williams I want to say that don't listen to the haters like this & people like you should be reviewing this since you've followed these shows so closely and knows what works and what doesn't It also gave me the feeling that you're reviewing these shows for nostalgia and trying to reignite those memories and how its it's some of the things you've grown up with and have fond memories of similar to me having memories of watching walkthroughs of ocarina of time and having a huge crush on zelda in that game 😊

People who don't like these video's clearly don't watch them because they're well written and clearly have had a lot of effort put out onto it. I'm American, James A Williams. I have seen a couple of old Fireman Sam episodes, and I have checked into watching Postman Pat, but mainly the theme song. An episode, I would like to give it a go like how I did with the original UK version of Noddy's Toyland Adventures.
So to be honest, the only two TV series reboots I like from here are Thomas & friends: Big World! Big Adventures! & CGI Fireman Sam (Unpopular opinion on CGI Fireman Sam)

We should get a court case of James A Williams Vs. EmperorLemon and see how he would win the case by explaining that reviewing/analyzing or talking about kids shows (specifically from the preschool demographic) is just as important as reviewing/analyzing or talking about big kids shows like from Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. By taking them into account and not using the excuse that “they’re for kids” or especially “they’re for babies” type of bullshit as how most mainstream people would say.

Despite being known as one of the darkest writers, at least, when it comes to my friends and family. I actually really admire shows that can help build children's minds, with characters that actually have functioning personalities and are not braindead happy all the time. Shows like Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, and especially TTG, do absolutely nothing to excuse giving them a look; Peppa Pig has mediocre storytelling, an obnoxious narrator, music that's immensely forgettable, one of the most ear grating theme songs made by man, and on top of that, children hardly learn a thing, outside of the episode's topic of the day. Even then, most of the show is just spoilt brats being assholes to each other and their parents. Paw Patrol, while not as bad as Peppa Pig, has possibly one of the catchiest earworms of the current decade. While the show isn't bad in the terms of the concept; a kid rallying pups together and setting up his own rescue service on a small island. The way the show over relies on substandard comedy and characters that really bore me to death, outside of the pups, it's a chore to sit through. Unlike Bob, Sam, and especially Edward, having to watch Ryder is very tiresome, to say the least; he's blander than a brick wall and the whole show seems to be an excuse to sell elaborate toys, without the effort that comes with said product, expelling more products. As for TTG. The original teen titans were emotionally driven, had relatable characters that the general consensus could look up to and admire as role models, hell, it may have been geared more for adolescents, but I think the show would've done well for many preteens, or younger kids too. It's a show still admired by its fanbase; since it had heart, care, and effort. TTG is like ramming a blender into a little kid's brain and watching it mince up their intelligence. While it's not abysmally animated, its childishness is less charming and more; "Let's see how beast boy/cyborg/robin is going to mess up this time!" At the end of the day; I can't decide on what kids watch, that's up to their parents, but to see people not taking something as simple as critiquing a show seriously and treating it more like its a nag-fest, is a little insensitive. You don't nag, you speak truthfully. You don't blather, you state your views clearly. You don't underestimate the intelligence of little kids, the sleazebags who make these awful shows do. If anything; you're probably one of the bravest people I know, being able to put up with hate, while still making content that you love doing. Keep making things how you like, man. Don't let others drag you down. :)
So basically, I was a 5 year old kid during 2008 and I was absolutely loving the spectacular spider-man animated series on tv and my parents don't see any problems with that, because they want me to watch good cartoons.

I honestly agree with you, and you inspired me to make me my own review series on a Netflix preschool show, Go Go Cory Carson. Which I think is a good show, I am even planning to make other reviews for other shows, thanks for inspiring me
I am actually enjoying your reviews of these shows. I watched some of them growing up. P.O.V. is the point of critiques. I did that in Graphic Design class in Junior and Senior years. For pete sake I watched 9 seasons MLP G4. I was entertained because of the effort to bring life to characters.
I'll be keeping these words close to my heart once March starts because throughout that month, I'll be on Letterboxd publishing reviews of some of the worst family films to ever hit theaters. Kid's flicks so horrible that it'll make anyone want to commit suicide at the mere thought of our children being exposed to such garbage and later growing up to become obnoxious douchebags because of said garbage.
I feel a bit lucky that I didn’t grow up watching a lot of crappy movies. Most of the movies I can remember watching, nowadays, have been regarded as either decent, good or masterpieces. I think the worst movies I can remember watching are Thunderbirds (Live action movie, 2004), Shrek the Third, Ice Age 2, the first 3 Bay-former movies and The Cat in the Hat (with Mike Myers).

I’m American, and I personally enjoyed many of the shows he’d mentioned besides Thomas. In fact, I used to watch some of them on PBS Sprout when I was a little kid.
Regarding TTTE, many of the fans of that are autistic, like me, though I'm high functioning. The old TTTE's autism friendly because it's narrated, it's calm and trains are something loved by some on the spectrum. Their faces in the model era are more expressive than real face and helped me distinguish feelings. In addition to emotion, the autistic could make cognitive, imagination and, likely because it's got connected toys, symbolic play gains from TTTE. Kid me loved TTTE, but I abandoned it between my 8th and 12th birthday. But I got nostalgic for my childhood show I speak of this past spring due to a political cartoon with Henry in it sent from an FB friend, perhaps combined with the conditions. The US dubs of British shows are done because of narration, if it's a show like TTTE that has it and some differences in our English and culture. TTTE English in the US dubs is kind of a British/American hybrid, with some words Americanized, but not others. Cheeky's a word reduced in the US dubs, but still used some, enough for me to learn the word. I believe if I'd said the word at 4-5, if I'm correct in my belief I found I first picked up a TTTE video then and someone asked what it meant I'd have said "likes to tease others" because of the line in the first episode "Thomas likes to tease Gordon with his whistle." I got some Thomas books based on the show as a little kid and that episode's one in them. Btw, I was born the year TTTE came to my country.

I appreciate your cause. However, I feel that your analysis would be much more taken seriously if the comedy is absent, and they can also be sometimes informal. I think what I would recommend in trying to make the reviews more taken seriously is to write them as if you are writing a 16 mark English essay. But that's just my opinion

I totally agree with your second point regarding comparing a reboot or continuation to the original as if you’re not gonna connect it to the original just make a new series. HOWEVER, what I and others take issue with is you nitpicking and complaining about small changes that really don’t matter in the long run such as the Bob the Builder themes lyrics being slightly different or Postman Pat taking place in a new setting. I’m not defending those shows as the writing isn’t as clever and the animation is much worse but small changes like those aren’t major problems as differences are inevitable, especially with reboots of old shows. Compare that to say Dead Rising 4s version of protagonist Frank West acting and looking completely different and worse compared to previous games for no reason which is a major issue since that game constantly calls back to Dead Rising 1 and it’s never explained or addressed so why not just make a new character? One is only a minor change which most probably won’t even think about where as the other is a major issue which damages the story.

I have dealt with people who posted comments about a rant or review I did using a character, saying that my character shouldn't be ranting about Disney shows just because i'm not in the age range for shows like Hannah Montana or even for High School Musical, that didn't make any sense to me at all. For one thing HSM is a cash-cow and in my opinion overrated. Yeah I said it, and also Hannah Montana is the most overexposed of all the live-action Disney shows, and also my overall views on its star (Miley Cyrus) don't reflect the show in the slightest. Yes I do think that Miley wanting to essentially be a sex symbol is gross and wrong but I know that Miley CYRUS and Miley Stewart aren't the same person. I find the 'it's for kids' argument to be bullshit. Yes I like Power Rangers, Mystic Knights, Masked Rider (even if some people don't), and Beetleborgs (even if some people didn't like it or found it to be weird), and so on. And then there's the other one...uhhh, since when was According To Jim popular? I have nothing against James Belushi but i'm just saying that I don't recall THAT show ever being popular, at least not in the same vein as say Seinfeld, Blackadder or even The Facts Of Life. Basically age demographics don't mean anything, just because it's for kids doesn't mean you should talk down to them and treat them like idiots.

EmperorLemon and see how he would win the case by explaining that reviewing/analyzing or talking about kids shows (specifically from the preschool demographic) is just as important as reviewing/analyzing or talking about big kids shows like from Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. By taking them into account and not using the excuse that “they’re for kids” or especially “they’re for babies” type of bullshit as how most mainstream people would say.

Despite being known as one of the darkest writers, at least, when it comes to my friends and family. I actually really admire shows that can help build children's minds, with characters that actually have functioning personalities and are not braindead happy all the time. Shows like Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, and especially TTG, do absolutely nothing to excuse giving them a look; Peppa Pig has mediocre storytelling, an obnoxious narrator, music that's immensely forgettable, one of the most ear grating theme songs made by man, and on top of that, children hardly learn a thing, outside of the episode's topic of the day. Even then, most of the show is just spoilt brats being assholes to each other and their parents.
Paw Patrol, while not as bad as Peppa Pig, has possibly one of the catchiest earworms of the current decade. While the show isn't bad in the terms of the concept; a kid rallying pups together and setting up his own rescue service on a small island. The way the show over relies on substandard comedy and characters that really bore me to death, outside of the pups, it's a chore to sit through. Unlike Bob, Sam, and especially Edward, having to watch Ryder is very tiresome, to say the least; he's blander than a brick wall and the whole show seems to be an excuse to sell elaborate toys, without the effort that comes with said product, expelling more products.
As for TTG. The original teen titans were emotionally driven, had relatable characters that the general consensus could look up to and admire as role models, hell, it may have been geared more for adolescents, but I think the show would've done well for many preteens, or younger kids too. It's a show still admired by its fanbase; since it had heart, care, and effort. TTG is like ramming a blender into a little kid's brain and watching it mince up their intelligence. While it's not abysmally animated, its childishness is less charming and more; "Let's see how beast boy/cyborg/robin is going to mess up this time!"
At the end of the day; I can't decide on what kids watch, that's up to their parents, but to see people not taking something as simple as critiquing a show seriously and treating it more like its a nag-fest, is a little insensitive. You don't nag, you speak truthfully. You don't blather, you state your views clearly. You don't underestimate the intelligence of little kids, the sleazebags who make these awful shows do.
If anything; you're probably one of the bravest people I know, being able to put up with hate, while still making content that you love doing. Keep making things how you like, man. Don't let others drag you down. :)
So basically, I was a 5 year old kid during 2008 and I was absolutely loving the spectacular spider-man animated series on tv and my parents don't see any problems with that, because they want me to watch good cartoons.

Hi James, last night I watched My Hero Academia Heroes Rising the movie with my younger brother. And it was super epic. Personally I loved it so much.
Everything you said is absolutely true! I would even do the same thing with Wiggles videos, songs and albums by giving out my personal opinions and critiques about them. Sure, they are for the little ones. But it’s also fun to review them and to give out some critiques too.

I am actually enjoying your reviews of these shows. I watched some of them growing up. P.O.V. is the point of critiques. I did that in Graphic Design class in Junior and Senior years. For pete sake I watched 9 seasons MLP G4. I was entertained because of the effort to bring life to characters.

Regarding TTTE, many of the fans of that are autistic, like me, though I'm high functioning. The old TTTE's autism friendly because it's narrated, it's calm and trains are something loved by some on the spectrum. Their faces in the model era are more expressive than real face and helped me distinguish feelings. In addition to emotion, the autistic could make cognitive, imagination and, likely because it's got connected toys, symbolic play gains from TTTE. Kid me loved TTTE, but I abandoned it between my 8th and 12th birthday. But I got nostalgic for my childhood show I speak of this past spring due to a political cartoon with Henry in it sent from an FB friend, perhaps combined with the conditions. The US dubs of British shows are done because of narration, if it's a show like TTTE that has it and some differences in our English and culture. TTTE English in the US dubs is kind of a British/American hybrid, with some words Americanized, but not others. Cheeky's a word reduced in the US dubs, but still used some, enough for me to learn the word. I believe if I'd said the word at 4-5, if I'm correct in my belief I found I first picked up a TTTE video then and someone asked what it meant I'd have said "likes to tease others" because of the line in the first episode "Thomas likes to tease Gordon with his whistle." I got some Thomas books based on the show as a little kid and that episode's one in them. Btw, I was born the year TTTE came to my country.

I appreciate your cause. However, I feel that your analysis would be much more taken seriously if the comedy is absent, and they can also be sometimes informal. I think what I would recommend in trying to make the reviews more taken seriously is to write them as if you are writing a 16 mark English essay. But that's just my opinion

I totally agree with your second point regarding comparing a reboot or continuation to the original as if you’re not gonna connect it to the original just make a new series.
HOWEVER, what I and others take issue with is you nitpicking and complaining about small changes that really don’t matter in the long run such as the Bob the Builder themes lyrics being slightly different or Postman Pat taking place in a new setting.
I’m not defending those shows as the writing isn’t as clever and the animation is much worse but small changes like those aren’t major problems as differences are inevitable, especially with reboots of old shows.
Compare that to say Dead Rising 4s version of protagonist Frank West acting and looking completely different and worse compared to previous games for no reason which is a major issue since that game constantly calls back to Dead Rising 1 and it’s never explained or addressed so why not just make a new character?
One is only a minor change which most probably won’t even think about where as the other is a major issue which damages the story.

I have dealt with people who posted comments about a rant or review I did using a character, saying that my character shouldn't be ranting about Disney shows just because i'm not in the age range for shows like Hannah Montana or even for High School Musical, that didn't make any sense to me at all. For one thing HSM is a cash-cow and in my opinion overrated. Yeah I said it, and also Hannah Montana is the most overexposed of all the live-action Disney shows, and also my overall views on its star (Miley Cyrus) don't reflect the show in the slightest. Yes I do think that Miley wanting to essentially be a sex symbol is gross and wrong but I know that Miley CYRUS and Miley Stewart aren't the same person. I find the 'it's for kids' argument to be bullshit. Yes I like Power Rangers, Mystic Knights, Masked Rider (even if some people don't), and Beetleborgs (even if some people didn't like it or found it to be weird), and so on. And then there's the other one...uhhh, since when was According To Jim popular? I have nothing against James Belushi but i'm just saying that I don't recall THAT show ever being popular, at least not in the same vein as say Seinfeld, Blackadder or even The Facts Of Life. Basically age demographics don't mean anything, just because it's for kids doesn't mean you should talk down to them and treat them like idiots.
