That’s one thing I miss being in the Fire Department is working with all the folks in the other agencies. All of us in Fire, EMS, police, sheriff, & tow all were pretty much 1 big family. We helped each other. We helped tow won’t clean up, backup if anyone needed it ( if the sheriffs were in trouble out in the county anyone wouldn’t hesitate if they lived close to back them up till other sheriffs or PD arrived. Same with EMS if Leo’s or Fire guys where close they would respond POV to help. You guys do hear it enough but you have a tough & appreciate all you do.
Most of the Allison transmissions use some kind of electric shifter on the bigger trucks. Some a switch, or push buttons. Some of the newer trucks have a traditional automotive style gear lever.
@@Towtruck_Dustin Thank you for the reply. I learn something new all the time when watching UA-cam. The last time I saw a pushbutton trans was when I was a kid in our neighbor's 1959 Plymouth. Fury.
When I was a kid in Wisconsin in the 60s, I’ve noticed that whenever there was an accident. There was people that were there sweeping and picking up trash. They were almost always there before the cops, or anyone else.
Another Good One. Dang! That ‘Yota was out there pretty good ! Just left accident on CR 288 bye our place. We thought about hanging around to see ya. Need a better reason for that
Now in your videos Dustin I have noticed you use straps and not J-Hooks is that required or your Preference ? We just used J-Hooks on the rear and pulled it tight so it wouldn't move . Here the police want the roads open fast .
A lot of guys throw a chain or two in the rear and suck the winch tight. Which I’ve done a few times to get clear of an accident scene, but the problem with that method as “securement” is the winches on these trucks aren’t load bearing, and can bleed off the tension, putting slack into the chains. Obviously that’s not a good scenario if you have to brake or turn evasively. Which is why I generally use straps and ratchets.
when you tow vehicles from an accident scene on a police tow, do you tow it to your yard, or where the customer wants? in my state if it is a police rotation it goes to the police impound yard unless it is driveable
It goes to our yard depending on the jurisdiction. If it’s in an investigation, sometimes it goes to a holding bay at the police department, but we generally get it back and release it to the owner. If it’s an accident, some agencies allow us to take them to the customers choice of location, but they have to pay out of pocket to drop it.
Depends. Generally insurance or the owner has it towed out to a body shop, or wherever they want it fixed or stored. Sometimes no one comes back for them and we end up selling or scraping them.
@Towtruck_Dustin ah I meant like some.cars have a feature to move the car forward and backwards w a remote to get out of a tight situation...figured maybe ur truck could remotely move backwards if u parked to far forward

Most everyone around here gets along pretty well. Pretty cool to see how everyone comes together on the big accidents to make everything run smooth.
The most fun part is the training & bouncing ideas before hand & strategizing onscreen.
Great seeing a professional at work!
Thank You!
Awesome recovery 👌 Thank you for sharing! 😊

Great job, thanks for sharing.

Only the 2nd time I'm watching this channel and noticed your truck has a pushbutton automatic transmission. Cool.

I’ve had a few push button automatic American Motors cars. I had them in the early seventies, but they were made in the sixties.
Another good one
Thank You!
This is why a Honda fan and a Toyota fan should not fight
Hopefully they recover fast
If you drop a bowling ball on your toes, just call a toe truck.
Most operators don’t even know what a broom is used for. Thanks Dustin.
I always try my best to leave the road clean when I leave.
enjoy your vidio a real good job of cleaning up not many drivers do that

I knew that was gunna happen lol
Love your vids! Just one thing please turn the headlights off in the car 😂
👏👏👏
Seems like nearly every accident that you go to the vehicle is totaled
Yeah. We’ve had a lot of bad wrecks this year.

Thank you for the videos and the info too 🙂
Thanks for watching them!
Glad you found my content useful!
for a head on collision the damage being on the passenger side seems a bit odd.
Being that the other car ended up so far away, I’d say it crossed and straightened out the curve.

Was that a Honda Bump? #hondabump #whambaamteslacam #Towtruck_Dustin #CRASH #hondaslam #hondacrash
So is "walking the truck" like u can move the whole truck backwards like some kias and hyundais? Remotely?
Not really sure what you mean, but walking is where you use the hydraulics to pickup the drive tires and push the truck around.
@Towtruck_Dustin ah I meant like some.cars have a feature to move the car forward and backwards w a remote to get out of a tight situation...figured maybe ur truck could remotely move backwards if u parked to far forward
Not under its own power. I can move it using the hydraulics.
@@Towtruck_Dustin that's cool as shit
If you go back to my video of the RX-8 missing a wheel, I have a part of the video that shows it pretty well
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
👍✌️
If they cant close the road from traffic. They should put up cones so the tow truck driver can be safe.
We don’t generally have that on accident scenes here. Unless it’s a big wreck on a freeway.
Dustin, what do you call those tie down straps that you use? I can't seem to find them.
D-ring straps.
Can find them all over the internet. Amazon even sells them.
@@Towtruck_Dustinmaybe I should of use these for my tow truck back then instead of using them mini hook straps.
❤❤❤ I will keep them in my prayers ❤❤❤
Thank You!
I swear to God that I am being youtube stalked🙄
That accident was a #Honda bump
👍
Do you have UA-cam premium or Original
I use premium.
Oh I use original
In a wreck recovery, you bill the insurance for the extra supplies and labor used in the cleanup, right?
When allowed yes. Some jurisdictions don’t allow it, but instead charge a higher rotation fee to compensate.
Looks like the Honda didn't win that one 😬
Do you get a decent wage doing this?
I make a pretty decent living. Lol.
