  • In this easy cooking video, I make some beef stroganoff in my crock pot, or slow cooker. The ingredients I used in my easy crockpot recipe 1 1/2 lbs of beef sirloin steak, 1 lb of mushrooms, and 1 1/2 cups of water. I seasoned my beef recipe with onion powder, kosher salt, Johnny's Seasoned Pepper, and Worcestershire Sauce to taste. Then cooked it for 3 1/2 hours on high. To thicken the sauce I added 1/4 cup of toasted flour. At the end I stirred in 1 cup of sour cream and poured it over egg noodles. Buy products used in my easy cooking videos here. amzn.to/3O8X1mI

You can use a packet of Lipton onion soup mix, And to thicken it up at the end you can use cornstarch 😊 I love anything with egg noodles!

That baked flour. Down here in Louisiana in cajun country we call that a dry roux. (Pronounced like roo”)It’s just toasted flour. I do the same thing just putting some flour into a skillet and stirring it over heat til it’s brown. The dish looks good!

Looks delicious! What an ingenious idea to bake the flour in the oven til it turns brown, cooked and then add spoonfuls to the broth in the slow cooker. That is really a cool idea and I'm going to give that a try next time I use my slow cooker with beef! Been subscribed with you for years and always enjoy your recipes. Keep up the great ideas and recipes in cooking. 👍🧡

You can use cornstarch to thicken any broth you make. Just be sure to dilute it with water first and stir into whatever your cooking. Just for future reference. “Long time fan, first time commentator”.

Looks good my friend. A method of thickening you can use is mix flour with milk (whole) or half and half then adding it in. Have a great Sunday and love to Annie.

you are supposed to add the flour to a little bit of water to make a slurry. Then pour that in slowly while stirring and it will thicken and be nice and smooth. No lumps. It does look good though.

Pro-tip= Use instant mashed potatoes to thicken anything. It won't gum up or cause stomach problems.

You could also mix some cold water with the flour and pour it in the crockpot about 30 minutes to an hour before it's done cooking.

Hi Tin Man , I love your recipes & videos . Easy no fancy frills , just great looking & Annie approved great tasting results ...👍...!!!!!
I have a good tip for you ...Instead of adding water try water & " Chicken " Better than Buillion Paste or Granules . It seems chicken Buillion adds a lot of mild flavor , I use it instead of beef Buillion coz beef Buillion seems to be a little strong & chicken seems to actually enhance the beef better , whereas plain water sort of pulls the flavor out of the beef & doesn't contribute anything other than a liquid medium to cook in .... I find chicken Buillion actually helps ..... Thanks for your videos & for listening . 🖐🖐🖐

@@TosTinManEasyCooking Hope you try it coz it seems to make a real difference since I stopped using plain water & not using beef Buillion which always seemed to make the beef flavor a little too strong . I only use the chicken flavoring now for everything meat even pork ...
You're very welcome , thanks ...I believe we all should share any good tips with each other ...👍👍🖐🖐🖐

Gotta love the crockpot, there’s plenty of room to experiment with just about any recipe to your liking. I have a tendency to forget to write it down as I go and wonder how I did it the last time.
Another good thickening agent is plain dehydrated mash potatoes. Any recipe that you can throw a potato at and compliment its flavor profile is a winner in my book.
Annie Hoovered it down, it’s gotta be good…

There is no evaporation from a crock pot. Use less water. Possibly try to use a gravy mix or even a canned cream soup.
