The Devil's Cloak: The Dangers of Bidah - Abdur Rahman Dimashqiah

The Sharee'ah definition of Bid'ah is: "A newly invented way [beliefs or action] in the religion, in imitation of the Sharee'ah (prescribed Law), by which nearness to Allaah is sought, [but] not being supported by any authentic proof - neither in its foundations, nor in the manner in which it is performed." Al-I'tisaam of ash-Shaatibee (1/37).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated repeatedly that: "Every newly-invented thing is a bid'ah (innovation), every bid'ah is a going astray, and every going astray will be in the Fire." (Reported by al-Nisaa'i in al-Sunan, Salaat al-'Eedayn, Baab kayfa al-Khutbah). Reports with the same meaning were narrated via Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) by Ahmad, via al-'Irbaad ibn Saariyah by Abu Dawud and via Ibn Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) by Ibn Maajah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say, when beginning a khutbah (sermon): "... The best of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of things are those which are newly-invented, and every innovation is a going astray..." (reported by Muslim, no. 867)
If every bid'ah is a going astray, how can some people then say that there is such a thing in Islam as "bid'ah hasanah"? By Allaah, this is an obvious contradiction of the statement and warning of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that whoever innovates something new in the deen (religion) will have his deed rejected, and Allaah will not accept it, as is stated in the hadeeth narrated by 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), who said: "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: 'Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours that is not a part of it will have it rejected.'" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath al-Baari, no. 2697). How can anybody then say that bid'ah is acceptable and it is permitted to follow it?
When a person innovates something and adds to the deen something that does not belong to it, he is implying a number of bad things, each worse than the last, for example:
That the religion is lacking, that Allaah did not complete and perfect it, and that there is room for improvement. This clearly contradicts the statement in the Qur'aan (interpretation of the meaning): "... This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion..." [al-Maa'idah 5:3]
    1. That the religion remained imperfect from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) until the time when this innovator came along and completed it with his own ideas.
    2. That the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was "guilty" of either of two things: either he was ignorant of this "good innovation," or he knew about it but concealed it, thus letting his ummah down by not conveying it. That the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), his Companions and the righteous salaf (early generations) missed out on the reward of this "good innovation" - until this innovator came along and earned it for himself, despite the fact that he should say to himself, "If it was truly good, they would have been the first to do it."
Opening the door to bid'ah leads to changing the deen (religion) and opens the way for personal whims and opinions, because every innovator implies that what he is introducing is something good.
Following bid'ah leads to the cancelling out of sunnah practices and the ways of the first three generations of Islaam in which the Prophet Muhammad (Sallalaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) described as being the best generations of Muslims. The first, the Prophet (Sallalaahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and his Sahaabah (companions). The second, the Taabi'een (the followers of the companions). The third, the Tabaa'at-Taabi'een (the followers of the followers of the companions).

0:54:50 --- Wallahi, when the Shaykh said ("By Allah, This is a horrible verse!") -- my heart stopped. I was like OMG ... and then I realized what he meant... it is a Horrifying Verse .. i.e. a Scary Ayah (statement from the Qur'an).
But at first, I thought he was saying... but then I realized, he means a "horrifying" - not horrible - verse. ☺

SubhanAllah. I feel like a lot of Muslims don't know that Umar (ra)'s statement of Bid'ah was slightly sarcastic and trick of the tongue. It obviously meant that the action was a Sunnah but people at the time didn't know it and called it a bid'ah. Umar refuted them by calling them out on what they did not know because he knew more. The intention of Umar (ra) is clear. Shame on those who twisted it and took it to extremes.

When the sheikh says about Train and Aero plane... its getting complicated.
what i knew before was simple as this ,
Nothing allowed to invent new things in ibadahs, other than that human are welcome to invent new things to ease human life. Train, flight, gadgets, tools ...etc.

@Blodwen0404 actually Islam was never enforced on any nation......so when the muslims invaded any country, they would make the people CHOOSE between embracing islam or paying a certain fee....and if some of them decided to pay the fee and keep their religion..they would be protected by the Sharia law.....if you compare it to the Inquisitions done by the Catholics....Islam is quite very merciful..

Religion is very complicated & the west has many prophets too... When a country enforces its beliefs on another through one man's voice i.e. prophet & the weak willed man proclaims kill anyone who goes against the prophets will. Then the will of man has been made & not the prophets will. I do not know the words in the holy Qur'aan though I feel the presence of the truth within the holy spirit of the prophet. I'm just a humble woman amongst men who suppress the female of God. I respect Mohammed

@Blodwen0404 Peace would be around the globe like how it used to be when Islam at its golden age. Even using simple logic how everything makes sense. The code of honor & belief & practice because companions craved to make it work because of the love & fear of the creator & for the love & respect of their leader. If you can read up on the golden age of Islam & you will see how amazing it was & to how it would even work today in world peace bring people closer together :)

May Allah bless the sheikh and increase his knowledge.
The sufis in India instead of preaching the pristine teachings of islam to the local masses, incorporated their practices in to islam. One such practice is 'salat e makoos' that is praying hanging upside down like a bat. Abdul Quddos Gangohi, one of the famous Chisti sufi who died in 1537 CE claimed such a practice. He claimed receiving 'wahi' and a book from jibrael
'Another point on which the opinions of 'Abd al-Quddus are qeuestionable from a point of view of sunni orthodoxy is his advocacy and practice-of the salat-i ma'kusa or namaz-i ma'kus, devotions performed upside down while hanging suspended by a rope tied to the heels. This is a practice which may be found among some non-Musilim Indian ascetics and will be coniidered again when yogic influences upon 'Abd al-Quddus are discussed. Neverthelessthe prictice is first rccordcd among Sufis before thc Muslim conquests in India. Abusa'id b. Abi'l-Khayr, the celebrated late tenth century shaykh of Mayhana in north-west Khurasan (modern North Afghanistan), is said by an early biographer to have perfomed it. Among Chishti shayks in India, Farid al-din performed this devotion. His khalifa,Nizam al-din 'Awliya, in a conversation of the early fourteenth century, also stated that Shaykh Abu Sa'id (mentioned above) had said that the Prophet himself used to perform it.
Among all chishti shaykhs 'Abd al-Quddus himself would appear to have been the most frequent practitioner of the salat-i ma'kusa and the most fervent advocate of the practice. In the Rusltd-nama, after describing the attainment of a state of proximity to God, he states that "anyone who has grown firm in this condition will achieve the upside-down prayers which are in reality the right way up" ( salat-makusa- mustavi al-ma'na)" In support of this ploposition he quotes two couplets of a ghazal of Bu 'Ali Qalandar, beginning :
A prayer which I who am drunk from the taverns perform
has in it neither standing nor kneeling nor prostration.
It scarcely needs to be observed that these ritual actions are not performed
by a worshipper suspended from the heels.
An anecdotei n the Lata'if describes'A bd al-Quddus'own performance of the namaz-ima'kus. It opens with the remark that, whereas for other men the time for work was in the day, for 'Abd al-Quddus it was during thc night. For years through the nights he used to perforrn thc namaz-i ma'kus. After the night prayers he would hang himself upside down and thus spend the night until the dawn. "One night I was in namaz-i ma'kas," he had related, "when the sultan-i -zikr manifested it self and put to flight rny externale existence. A state of obllteration (mahviyat) came to pass and there was no consciousncss apart from my consciousnesosf myself. In that state I had to pass beyond this consciousnes of myself and reach the annihilation of annihilation (fana' al-fana' ). By God's grace this came to pass and the - world lfl-etcruelitV (baqq') was revealed. When I had descended from this statc, & man eppearcd from the unseen (az ghayb)rrt and said, '"Bleesed be it, at this time you were united with God (wesil bi-har1q)!" He then vanished." Rukn al-din, the recorder of the arecdote, askr:d who the man rvas, but 'AbdQuddus did not reply.

The worst innovation ( bid'ah) and calamity for the Muslims is the book, Fazael e Aamal by Zakaria Kandhalvi Deobandi. ,--------In the guise of preaching (tabliegh) of Islam, the Tablighi jamat is, , actually promoting the very same degenerate Sufism,'consisting of renunciation of this world, personality worship, false miracles and customary, un-Islamic practices. ----------The Tablighi Jamat's complete silence on the munkar and its refusal to openly denounce bid'a and shirk, shows the hollowness of its claims to reformism.
The propaganda of the 'aqeedah that the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) is alive in his grave, listens to us and has the knowledge of the Unseen
The author of Fadhaa.il A'maal, Muhammad Zakaria Kandalvi believed and wanted to propagate that the Messenger of Allaah is:
    a) alive in his grave and listens to us;
    b) has the knowledge of the unseen ,even after death.
To a Muslim of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah and on the 'aqeedah of our pious predecessors believing in such heresies is nothing short of Kufr and Shirk. These beliefs (aqa'ed) are in direct opposition to the Noble Qur.aan and the authentic Sunnah of Rasool e Alram(sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam).
To cite a few examples from Deobandi Zakaria Kandhlavi's book, Fazael e Aamal,
    1) The Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) kisses an insane Soofi (Fadhaa.il Durood, Incident no - 42, p.102)
    2) Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) descends from the sky on a cloud with a piece of bread in his hand in order to feed his "pious followers." (Fadhaa.il Durood, Incident no - 48, p.110)
    3) The Messenger of Allaah, the seal of the Prophets (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) plucks hair from his beard and gives it to a dying man in order to cure him. (Fadhaa.il Durood, p.110, incident no - 48)
