- Another van in the family, this is a 1994/5 Ford Escort Van with a 1.8 Diesel engine, none turbo.
Looks like it's seen a bit of action in it's time, but hey ! it works..... Take a look, see what you think. - Авто та транспорт
not just a toolbox,,a bed,a kennell,a plodder,safer driving plodding,,a room on wheels,,i love em,,and ive also had lots of sports cars and bikes..keep on..
Beautiful old van
my place has had a load of ford vans over the years and they have always being reliable.
Ford/Deutz Cooperation is the best Diesel Energine (for me)!!! I like it! it´s a beautiful Sound!
i reckon the 1.8 was the best small diesel engine in its day. they never sufferd from overheating. they were agood starting engine. never used oil or water. but had crappy drive belts design. i have run this engines for years and never heard one knock. if you go to scrappys and pick the first one you can see that hasnt got a snapped belt and is complete i bet with a battery it would start
@w4vy David I wished I could offer more advice on this subject, this was my eldest sons van, and after the belt snapped, on the advice of a mate in the know, he just scrapped the van without bothering to even look at the engine, so I have no idea at all as to what damage was done or not. It may well have been a cheaper fix than he first thought. Now we will never know.
Thanks for asking and hope yours doesn't cost the earth to fix - Good luck.
Paul :-)
MERCI SUPER SYMPA LA PRESENTATION DE LA VIDEO JE SUIS ENTRAIN D ACHETER LA MÊME VOITURE ,BELLE VOITURE DE FIABILITE , CIAO
best ford engines ever made
Yes Ford Transits and the like certainly are a very good van.
Great video I have always wanted a Escort van. 5*
Daniel
Zní to rychle - Děkuji za sledování. Hezký den. Paul :)
my first ford van 1.8 diesel the best
Thanks for the info, Merry Christmas :-)
Have an 02 and can work on it like vehicles from the 80s.As it rots away i will have to enter the modern day age eventually.But for now i shall keep repairing the beast.
Good on you :-)
+Bevoin1970 2002 Escort is the final year before they stop making Escorts :)
Hello Paul, you are more than welcome. So they are quite common in England uh? I certainly have never heard of them here in the U.S. Thanks for the insight.
Ken Palmer
Family has owned 3 diesels, all V8's. excellent mileage under high speed, heavy load. Maintenance costs higher than gasoline (petrol), especially if not driven regularly. Ford Truck sat extended periods, then would periodically injector balk on long fast heavys. Two GM's drove heavy fast 80,000mi (128747km) 'Per Year'. Performed own maint/repairs. Periodic gov ring, due to nylon parts. Tanks required removal/cleaning, replace rusted parts. Result of growing 'Amoebas' in spite of additives.
sounds nice
Thank you, this van runs really well, a bit tatty but works very sweet. Thanks for watching.
This engine is one of the best Ford has ever made particularly the naturally aspirated Diesel!!! Them will run and run forever!!! Shame about the cambelt has snapped😢
I had no idea that Ford manufactured Escort vans, and diesels at that! The music effects are cool. Interesting and nice video!
Ken Palmer
They have been making escort vans since 1969
Good Luck !!
Very true, thanks for watching.
Very nice! Nothing quite like an Escort! Almost as revolutionary as bread! Those Endura-D Diesel engines are good workhorses, if a little bit noisy. But the don't like the cold very much, even with working glow plugs! Also, I've been meaning to ask you, what video camera/camcorder do you use in your videos?
@Dieselolli1 Thank you, I agree :-)
@beboploo No idea, maybe someone from its past may have changed the clocks unknown to us. This was just how it was bought at the time.
Sadly this van has since been scrapped, due to timing belt failure and other MOT issues...
Gods engine
i just got it back yesterday and they tested it and its producing 28 bhp. im happy. although it did cost £45 for them to fit it.
I heard that too. Is it the 1.8 or 1.6 that has 2 timing belts? (One for the camshaft and another one for the injection pump)
good engines
sounds powerful :) Mate what was the acceleration Like?
Thanks Walter, she's a girl with no name, we also have her brother..... I'll have to think of a name for them..... nice thought !
Hiya I know the vans gone now because of the timing belt snapping but I'm just wondering if you had removed the cylinder head or not before you scrapped it to take a look at the damage? My timing belt snapped on mine last night so I'm just wondering if on yours was it just bent valves or did the pistons get damaged as well? Also how much was you quoted to have it repaired? was it just parts or parts and labour? Cheers m8.
Regards,
David.
my freind has a ford escort van 1.8 non turbo as well , he got it for 4 hundred euro , in a few months im getting one of these vans as well and im going to get either 2liter or 1.8 and put alloyes on it ... 4 stud is it???
@MrMoterKid Thanks, I use a Panasonic HD camcorder these days.
what am i doing here
maybe because i have mondeo 1.8 td
@Bevoin1970 my dad had one and it did 90 it was a real good van!! shame the brake pipes eventually rotted out and he sold it, i got some stories about that old van!
did you change the clocks on dash i see the four door sign.an its a van ???
@kazimann no they have lucas pumps but you can buy bosch pumps for em thatl do veggie oil. . the lucas pump will do veggie oil if its got a tank heater that keeps it above 45*c
mate are you gonna get another of these vans?
Thanks Ken, the music is just me mucking around with various effects as you do... ha ha. These vans are quite common in the UK. Thanks for watching. ;-) Paul
Thanx!
@arglwyddanfradwrus i think its teh 1.8, we have got a 1.8 diesel non turbo (for now) and it has got 2
@SuperStoner90 Yes, Good luck
I have same this engine but my problem The Diesel come not out from Pump I Make all the Diesel is Come all Good to Pump in motor but the diesel not out from Pump to Nebulizer can you help me
@expiry0209 No idea, it was never my van to begin with. Its now gone to the scrapyard in the sky, after the cam belt snapped. :-)
shes blowing bad don't you think. but as you say it runs and thats the main thing. my 405's getting a new turbo fitted. before the garage took the old one off they tested it and it was only producing 2 BHP. bad eh! the new one should produce about 30 providing it works as it was taken off an engine with a blown head gasket and the garage said that might have had an affec on the turbocharger. I'll just have to wait and see.
thanks
Where can I get one?
Was the 75 a turbo? I don't see an intercooler so unsure if that's a non turbo or a low power as the Mondeo with the intercooler was 90hp
From memory it was non turbo
@bartonlane Go for it, you see plenty of them around... :-)) Good vans too.
Didn't know that but thanks, I'll pass the info on.... Thanks for watching. Merry Christmas.
Thanks, My own van gets an oil / filter change every 10,000 miles religiously....
@chazza559 Oddly enough I don't see many around these days like I once did, slow but sure they must all be going to scrapyard heaven.
@kazimann No they have lucas pumps
@chazza559 No idea to be honest, Im guessing 90mph perhaps when it was new.. :)
No, not new, I had a 1.6 Diesel fiesta, was in Blackpool & had to get back to Walsall for my nieces christening 26 yrs ago, got up late, did 100 mph all the way back, over 80 miles , engine screaming but got back no trouble, was crapping myself at that speed lol
If thats a non-turbo its only got 59bhp no?
@nathanandrews100 Thank You
@Motorfordtoyota The Transit here is rated highly, but everyone has their own opinion.
sorry to hear that. Maybe You will get another one day :)
I've got this engine for my boat starts great but won't turn off tried a new stop selenoid still the same any suggestion please
Mark Roberts Sorry I can't offer any advice on that one.
Can only be the solenoid
@222world I bet they can all tell a tale or two..ha ha
@MrMoterKid It doesnt go over well here in my opinion. Its microscopic 2.0l engine has no torque, or hp really. Extremely not when compared to its big brother from Ford, the E-series van. With its 6.7 scorpion powerstroke turbo diesel v8 makes 400 hp and 800 ft lbs.
Certainly has been pre owned, not Royal Mail though, more like ex builder... :-))
@Bevoin1970 i make a video when i get it .....
@sandysandy9911 u got that right :)
@kenny123yeha yeah, its worth it :D
A van is a big toolbox with wheels. if you want something that's fast get a sports car. you don't need 400 hp in a van in the same way you don't need 120,000 BTUs in a drinks chiller
@Motorfordtoyota What's hideous about it? It's a van, so it's not going to be a looker.
Escort vans rusted to death but the engines kept living.
True...
You watch your eyes don't pop out with all that horsepower..!! Ha Ha :-)))
This van is a none turbo...
@Motorfordtoyota You've got worse; they're called Hummers.
what is the top speed mate?
Ford quote 89mph....in 4th gear!
@expiry0209 Nah, sorry to say.
I buy one for 400 use it for a while, it breaks I buy another.
No sorry can't help you on that one.
There dont make engines like that more body work let them down engines run forever
Awesome. Fords is the only thing I ever buy. Loved your ending. Whats the bronze looking dudes name LOL 5*
This one doesn't start at all now, the timing belt snapped on it - On advice from others the van has now been scrapped. Shame :-)
@rotcode Ha Ha... :-)
@MrMoterKid Still, atleast Ford vans (apart from that pos transit shit from Europe Ford) do not make you puke to look at. Not to mention we have 400 hp, 800 ft lbs. out of the Ford e-series or 396 hp, 765 ft lbs out of the GMC Savana or Chevrolet express! Cheers.
@expiry0209 slow... :-)
they dont build them like that no more
It’s a real shame especially this kind of engine because they are bulletproof engine especially if it’s a naturally aspirated diesel🥲 old cars are much more reliable and way better than new cars we have now!
hh nič moc stara bucora moj Ford escort je 1,8 Turbo disel , ked su otacky v 1500-tak zapina turbo do 2500, to je vtedy ohen
Im glad we dont have things this hideous in America!
Hey man yer missing the point.
It's a van, meant for business and not many workies care how tackety it is.
Yes the bigger petrol engines in the US, and the bigger diesels might offer more refinement, but they're made for American roads.
Your comparing Apples to Oranges mate, they're nowhere near as economical to run as these.
Plus the big V8 diesels such as the Ford Navistar and Cummins 6-cylinder whilst fantastic engines in their own right, we use em in all the busses over here.
They make a clatter too.
You actually can't hear the engine much in the cab of this van.
Can it tow 23,000 lbs? No. Ok problem solved.
No and it's not meant to.
That's what an artic lorry is for.
Plus we don't tend to shift that volume of weight in a van anyway, these are utility vans made for small businesses like the water and gas board, repair companies and DIY builders who tend to carry more tools with them than big bulky stuff.
Drywall, wood boards, appliances all that kind of thing can easily fir in the bigger Transit.
I take it your comparing the US requirements of a truck vs the UK.
BIG difference there bud.
We're a much smaller country with smaller, narrower roads and less need for massive payloads as we don't tend to build or work on huge geographical areas as much.
Just sayin LOL, I get yer point dude, but these vans are suited for the British market and the European markets needs, and the diesels were economical, reliable and fast enough for the roads we have, we don't have 1000 mile long highways like the US.
They could do 70 mph on the motorway and that's all van drivers cared about, if it gets the job done and is relatively cheap to run, it's good enough for them.
Your totally missing the point sir, you obviously haven't got a clue about engineering or vehicles
