Hi 1NITIDO, my wife got hit at a slow speed in a parking lot last week, and it had crunched the fender. The door would only open about 8 inches before making noise from touching that was about 10 times worse then the vehicle in your video. I used a long piece of cardboard about 30 or 40 times, almost getting it. I then wrapped a crowbar in the same piece of cardboard, and then it finally moved that fender, and the door is working perfectly now. Thanks so much for your genius fix !!! You saved me much time, money and worries !!!

Guys be extremely careful doing this. It does work but if you go too far you'll end up what I did and bend the entire fender into itself. I had to take the fender off and re align it all which was alot of work.
Correct don't rush it
I think that's what happened to me. I now have a huge gap and my door will not open all the way.

Mine seems to have pushed it in, making it worse.
A deer bounced off the side of my car when I was doing 65mph tonight. Sounded like the car was wrecked but when I pulled over there was little to no damage but the drivers side door was rubbing every time I closed it and I could see it was not aligned right. Just went out with some cardboard and tried your method and it worked like a charm, no more rubbing. I can not thank you enough!!!!!!

I am having the same problem with my truck door grinding against the fender and making a popping sound I will use a piece of cardboard fold it and put it in the door, I think what happens is the door alignment gets thrown off when you run over bumps and holes in the ground and the door has to be re align again.

How about gap? Changed anything? One side mine close door fine and has 4mm other side lost 1mm. Adjusted door by loosening two bolts and i think issue got fixed but gap didnt changed ... And im scared once again door gap going be fucked up. Before everything was fine and gap was 4mm what changed in past 5 month no clue. No one hit my car or fender. Look clean.

The cardboard wasn't working for me. However I took the same concept using a screwdriver and that worked perfectly. Just be careful because you could bend it inwards instead of outwards.

The wind force swung my door so hard it bent and cracked the fender inward a little. Though I’m left with a small crack, I’m so grateful my door closes without that awful sound.. Thank you! I've got a rental car and I noticed this but thought it was a squeaky hinge or something. They didn't make note of it in the walk around and didn't think much of it until it kept happening and seemed to get a little worse. I was very skeptical but with the cardboard and I had the correct gap in less than 2 minutes.

I had the same problem, but instead of using a piece of cardboard, I used a magazine. I stuck the bound end of the magazine between the door and the fender and I only had to open and close the door once and it was fixed. Thank you very much for a great idea.
Was driving one night to work and there was a deer in the middle of the road on a 2 lane high way almost missed it, he poked his head out at the last second and I bumped his head on the drivers side front. No damage no blood and the deer ran away probably with a concussion. But it pushed the front fender into my door slightly. Just did this with cardboard like your video describes and it worked perfectly. I did end up doing it too much even though it worked after trying it a couple times. I over did it and it pushed in towards the car. So I was able to pull the fender out to make it almost flush with the outside of the car. Thank you for the video it definitely saved me time and money instead of taking it to get repaired!

Watched this video and it didn’t work. Made it worse. Sorry y’all think this works but it obviously doesn’t work on every vehicle.
Any advice if I have the opposite problem? Deer hit my car and dented my fender. Now my car door can’t open bc it’s hitting the dented part when it’s trying to pivot inwards towards the car.
Did not help mine at all. Actually pushed more door outwards more.

Hey Nester! I tried using this method however a small piece of the cardboard got stuck inside the fender and the door and now it won’t open fully, do you have any other suggestions? Great video by the way

You could’ve readjust the door my loosening the bolts and moving the door either up or down instead of bending your fender🤷🏽♂️
Yes but the point of the video is to help people out not every one has tools or the skill to do this type of job , I'm a mechanic I can take the door out in 2 minutes but that's not the point , but thanks for your point

Make the cardboard thicker
Hiya, watched the video. Doing a fender on my mustang. I might add if you loosen up the front fender so it can have a little bit of wiggle room and the cardboard can push it to a good position. helps making a good gap. Just put 3 pieces of cardboard in and shut the door then tighten everything up. should have a good gap.

Or loosen the fender bolts and try this then tighten but you could just pull it by hand the more you open and close like this the more damage you're doing.
NESTOR...Thank you so much. I pulled into a parking spot at the gas station last night and as i flung my door open another car pulled into the spot next to mine. His bumper was pushing my door open too far. Thankfully he stopped in time before doing much damage, but I got the "popping" sound when I opened/closed the door. At first I thought the safety arm was just loose after making such a stop, but everything with that was fine. The door and fender were rubbing so bad that I knew the paint was going to start chipping. BUT, this worked. It seem to help get the door back in line. It was an accident and I'm not mad at the guy because he felt horrible and was freaked out that he could have actually nudged me with his car. He paid for my beer at check out, which was nice of him. I know that wouldn't have covered a repair shop fix, but it was a kind gesture. You saved me man...I appreciate this so much.

Wish I saw this before I damaged my side fender with the door. Fucking hell.
Tried this on my car and it made it so much worse! Any ideas to help fix it? The door would slightly grind the side like in the video, after doing the cardboard trick there is a huge space inbetween the door and the side now and i can’t open up the passenger door any more because it keeps hitting door over laps the car now when I try to close it...it also pinched part of the fender and caused a huge crack in the paint 🤦♂️🤦♂️ And ideas to fix it to get the door to open again?
You have other problem,, this trick is not to move doors this will only move fenders NOT door
Did same thing, made it worse it was working at first and then the other side bent a lil bit and when I opened the door it overlapped and now I barely can open door, not blaming video tho my fault 🤷🏾♂️

Worked for our Toyota town ace 1999, which had a squeaking door after wind had blown it open. Saved us! Took us a few tries. But no sounds at the end 😊

Clutch video Nestor Auto Repair fender bender brought me here after a driver bumped into me turning. The cardboard didn't fix it all but helped the next move I made without having a crowbar handy was grabbing a metal garden spade wrapping it plastic and forcing a little more gap no more grind for me now.

well I just bought a truck and the first time I opened the door it didn't make any grinding but the second time and anytime there after it made the grinding noise until last night it dented in the whole door jam and the fender dented towards the fender.
Now what do I do. I wish I would of known about your vid. Thanks. I will try to take off the render so I can get the door manipulated back to a spot i could where I could at least open the door .

And here i sit feeling better that I'm not alone. At least it wasn't my car, friends drunken sister charged her car like a rhino from my understanding. Dented the door badly, I tried a hammer and all I got was small dents from the inside.

Before you close the door all the way make sure the fender overlap the door and not the door overlapping the fender , take your time

Yes hi in that case you need to get the fender swrew loos because what happened was that the fender shift over
It made it 10 times worse, now the door is pushing the fender in when I try to open it
Doing this type of repair you need to take your time and do it slow
Tried it and it put a bigger dent in the fender, now the door doesn’t open at all 🙃
Try it again ,, but don't let the door go over the fender , the door need to slide inside the fender not outside
This happened to my 2011 Dodge Caliber from one day to the next and I have no idea why. Going to try this method and hope it works! I wish I saw this sooner because the fender took a little more damage that it needed to 😅😅
